Chapter 15 – A Cow?
"Senpai, do we need to restock on rice?" Fran asked as he walked next to Tsuna with his hands behind his head in the grocery store. The boy wore navy blue shorts and a similarly colored jacket, wearing a shirt underneath and a bowtie finishing his attire.
"Yes and eggs too," Tsuna answered smiling. Fran was horrible at grocery shopping, so they usually went together to restock on food, shampoo and other things for their apartment. Both Fran and Tsuna ate as much as they trained hard, which was a lot.
Their eating habit also meant the duo had to go shopping twice a week with many bags filled with groceries.
"I got the eggs senpai," Fran said as he brought a casket filled with giant chocolate eggs.
Tsuna shrugged and thought that if Fran wanted chocolate eggs, he could have as much as he wanted. So the brunette nodded and Fran put the casket of chocolate eggs into their cart.
Five minutes later, while the duo were still shopping, a childish voice started screaming. The voice became louder and finally stopped just underneath the duo.
Tsuna looked down and noticed that a small boy in cowhide patterened clothing was holding on to his trousers, making them wet while wiping his tears and snot on them. Tsuna noticed Fran growling and scratched his cheek. Fran cared a lot about him and sometimes Tsuna wondered how far Fran would go so that Tsuna could be happy. Right now it seemed that Fran wanted to kick the boy so that he would stop latching onto Tsuna.
"Do you need help?" Tsuna asked as he lowered himself so he was closer to the boy.
The boy stopped sniffing and looked up. The boy sized Tsuna up and down before mentally nodding, grinning inside. The brunette would probably be very gullible, gullible enough for Lambo to be able to get free food, like the chocolate eggs that the brunette had in his shopping cart.
"Yes, I'm very hungry," Lambo pouted looking at the chocolate eggs.
Suddenly Lambo shrieked in fear as a boy with a tie appeared before him, eying down at him evilly, saying, "those are mine," in a demonic voice.
"We'll get some more Fran," Tsuna said patting the boy in cow patterened clothes on the shoulder.
"What's your name?" Tsuna asked with a smile
Lambo's eyes widened. The voice of the brunette felt so warm and his smile was almost magical. He felt like he was at home for some reason, like he somehow knew who Tsuna was.
"My na-na-name is La-ambo," Lambo answered suddenly very shyly.
"That's a nice name, Lambo," Tsuna said looking towards a hesitant Fran who sighed before nodding.
"If you say so Tsuna-senpai," Fran said.
Before Tsuna could ask the boy where his parents were, he heard a gruff voice.
"Here you are you stupid brat!" A tall and broad man said, appearing from behind the fruit isle. Three other equally big men followed suit.
"Eek!" Lambo shouted as he hid behind Tsuna.
"Is he your little brother kid!?" The gruff man with dark brown hair said angrily.
"So what if he is?" Tsuna answered, unsure of the person's intentions.
"Then you're going to pay!" The gruff man said, "he ate the burgers that we were eating!"
Tsuna nodded, "I'll compensate for what he ate," Tsuna said, pulling out his wallet.
One of the other big guys behind the gruff man laughed before shouting, "that's not enough, you should punish the kid."
"How about no?" Tsuna answered with a deadpanned look. He had no time to deal with these idiots.
"Then we'll do it for you," the gruff man said reaching for Lambo.
Before the gruff man could touch Lambo, an iron grip was placed on the man's wrist. The gruff man looked up and noticed that the brunette had taken hold of his arm. "So that's where the brat gets his bad behavior from, his older brother is just as bad as he is, I'm going to punish the both of you," he said smirking.
"If you can that is," Fran said, looking bored. Fran would have beat the crap out of these guys, but he was strictly forbidden by his senpai to cause a ruckus inside grocery stores and other stores for that matter.
The man's friends started to walk towards the trio, but suddenly they heard their 'leader' shout.
The gruff man winced in pain, "why you little shit," he said but was immediately silenced as the grip became so tight it was unbearable.
"Leave, " Tsuna said looking the man in the eyes.
The gruff man suddenly had a pale face. The look in those honey brown eyes told him that if he continued he would lose his arm.
Tsuna released the grip when he saw that the man nodded.
The man's friends were confused when they saw that their friend almost ran out of the store. They looked back at Tsuna confused before following their friend out the store, wondering what had gotten into him.
"You can be more scary than me senpai," Fran muttered.
"Did you say something Fran-kun?" Tsuna asked sweetly.
"No nothing!" Fran answered in haste.
An hour later found Tsuna, Fran and Lambo sitting on a bench inside Namimori's largest park.
Tsuna and Fran first went to their apartment to dump their groceries, but took a box of ice cream and the chocolate eggs with them.
Tsuna gulped as he noticed how Lambo was scarfing down the ice cream and chocolate eggs.
Fran looked towards the boy and sighed. He couldn't really say anything to make the boy leave, since the look his senpai gave the boy spoke a thousand words. Tsuna liked Lambo, and Fran, sighing again, thought that if Tsuna liked Lambo he had little choice not to accept him.
When Tsuna had asked the boy about his parents while they were on their way to the park, they learned that the boy's parents had most likely passed away from the way the boy spoke of them. They also found out that Lambo was from the Bovino Famiglia, and although the Bovino Famiglia were allies to Vongola, they decided to keep Lambo company because Tsuna had a weak spot for children.
"I'll make you my underling Tsuna, you too Fran," Lambo said happily while licking at his chocolate flavoured ice-cream.
Fran snorted, but Tsuna laughed happily, "we'll be sure to be good underlings to you Lambo-sama."
Lambo's eyes shined when Tsuna spoke and laughed, "huhaha!"
Fran looked out of the corner of his eyes towards his senpai and was asking permission non-verbally if he could strangle the stupid cow, but Tsuna shook his head and proceeded to scratch the cow kid's head to which said cow kid smiled happily.
"Tsuna," Lambo began after he had almost finished his last ice-cream, "where are your parents?" Lambo also turned to look towards Fran.
"We're orphans," Tsuna answered somberly as he watched a family up ahead having a picnic.
Lambo answered by looking sad, his eyes drooping at the ice-cream that was melting in his hands.
Tsuna smiled and ruffled Lambo on his head. Lambo smiled and continued to lick the ice cream.
Fran looked at the scene in front of him and couldn't help but smile.
Something started to buzz in the pocket of Fran's jacket. When he pulled out his phone and answered the call, he heard a familiar voice.
"Tsuna-senpai," Fran began, "the Vongola rings have arrived in Namimori."
