Chapter 16
The next morning Sam woke up late she heard scuffling under her bed. Opening her eyes slowly she saw her bedside table draw was wide open but Omega was still disguised.
"Huh… Guys?"
She leaned over the side of her bed and peered underneath to see the Autobots firing at something moving in front of them. They each looked around at her before turning back to their shooting, Bumblebee then approached her.
"Bee what are they firing at there's nothing but old school stuff under there"
Bee made his beeping sound in reply.
"What do you mean barking…wait no!"
Sam fell out of bed and reached her hand in and placed it in front of her friends stopping their shooting.
"Sam what are you doing?"
"There's no threat under here just" She reached in further and pulled out a soft toy and Dalmatian that when it was pressed by its paw it would bark "my toy Dalmatian from when I was young"
Sam brought it close she remembered her parents giving it to her on her second birthday, she took it everywhere.
"The Autobots could see that they had made a mistake"
They looked down in shame. Sam saw this but only smiled.
"Why the long faces it's really important to me but no harm has come to it just a couple of black marks that will come out in the wash" Sam laughed
Hot Shot then walked off towards the bottom of the foot of the bed.
"What's up with him?"
No one answered they were all clueless. Just then Optimus spoke up.
"We need to get to base so we can use the monitor to find this shrink ray and return us to normal size"
"Right Optimus but you guys will take forever to get there on your own looks like I'm protecting you now"
Sam stood up and walked to her bathroom to get cleaned up. When she came back in she was fully dressed and ready to go.
"Where's my bag?" asked Sam
Omega then transformed in to a mechanical bird and flew over her head to the corner of her room and flew back landing on her shoulder with the straps of her bag in its beak. He let go and let Sam catch it.
"Thank you Omega" he then transformed in to a phone and dropped in to her bag.
Sam walked over to the Autobots watching her on the floor she grabbed her phone from her bedside table and kneeled on the floor. She place her bag down and opened it for them. Separately they walked in knowing it would be risky to get there any other way. Sam then noticed that hot shot was still at the foot of the bed so she walked over to him as she placed her bag over her shoulder.
"Hot Shot it's no good sulking but it's better to stay positive"
"I know it's just I'm glad we didn't harm that toy because it meant a lot to you but we aren't that strong anymore"
Sam smiled and picked him up "Just stop worrying you'll be back to normal in no time" She then place him in her bag leaving it open for them. Just as she was about to put her phone in her bag as well her ring tone went off. The Autobots looked up at her as she answered"
"Hello…Poppy how are you? No I didn't … um forget we'll still go see the professor…What now well"
She looked down at her friends trying to make a decision.
"No I'm not going to ditch you…other friends Poppy the only other friends I have are the ones that your friends with too" Sam laughed "Actually I was thinking of going to see mum in the hospital with dad first before he goes again…okay call you later"
Sam hung up and sighed with a relief, placing the phone it his pocket in the bag.
"I thought we were going to the base?" asked red alert
"We are but I couldn't tell Poppy that, I'll still meet her just not now. Right now my focus is you guys and then I suppose I'll have to visit mum to prove I was there"
Just then Sam heard her dad downstairs so she quickly walked out of her room.
"Dad when are you leaving I was hoping we could visit mum together" Sam said as she was walking downstairs
"Well Sweetie I…" he didn't finish his sentence
Sam looked at him and then saw that he was leaving right now, the Autobots peered their heads over the edge so they could see but carefully so they wouldn't be seen themselves.
"But I thought you…"
"I got offered another role this is huge I can't turn it down. You understand right Samantha"
She frowned, tears welled up in her eyes "I always have to understand" she said before running past him and out the door.
She walked down her drive away and turned right away from her house she ignored her dad's plea for her to come back and just kept walking.
"Sam would it not be wise to return to him before he leaves" Suggested Optimus
"No all I get is a short visit all the time from both of them and then it's always something big or huge that's just come up in their job, no second thought for me, no long good byes, no one around for me to be with or talk with. Just me, alone"
Sam stopped crying and began to get angry.
"I'm sorry but if this is how my parents are always going to be then they might as well not bothering coming back at all. I'm lonely Optimus my friends like Poppy don't make me feel any better"
"Yet you still help us which suggests that you prefer us to anyone else" said Scattershot
Sam then stopped he was right she did prefer them over anyone else. She heard over long distance poppy coming her way, she must have found out.
"Poppies coming"
"What do we do?" asked Wing Saber
"Face her" said Optimus before he and the others sank in to the bag
Sam kept walking waiting for Poppy to catch up but still on the move to get to the base. She heard poppy getting closer and closer until a hand was placed on her shoulder with the sound of heavy breathing.
"Sam you walk fast" she took a deep breath "Look I know your dad is a screw up mine is too I mean I still have to convince him to let us stay but"
Poppy could see that Sam wasn't interested in what she had to say.
"Sam where are you going? You don't have to visit your mum anymore so you might as well spend more time with me and go see the professor"
At that moment Sam go even angrier, so she turned round to face her best friend and then Poppy saw that she was not helping.
"It's not all about you you know Poppy, I don't have to tell you everything especially if it risks your life and I don't have to spend every spare day I have with you, my dad doesn't care but at least yours does. Your dad is moving all of you for your best interest and although you might not like it have you ever considered that you're not being fair to him, he's the one that works not you" shouted Sam
Poppy didn't know how to answer she knew that Sam was angry but she had never seen this before. Sam then turned in to an alley way and carried on walking but Poppy was going to follow no matter what.
"Your right Sammy I am selfish it's not fair on my dad but it's not fair on you also. And what could you possibly know that would risk my life?"
Just then behind Poppy Demolishor appeared and grabbed Poppy holding her in the air, Screaming Poppy tried to kick free but as she paid close attention to what was holding her she could see that her efforts were utile. Sam heard the commotion and turned to see what had happened even the Autobots had seen.
"Well look at this I have the all spark out witted, you run away then I will crush this insect"
"Who are you calling insect?" yelled Poppy
She kicked him in the face but that seemed to make him even angrier.
"You got no one to help you now all spark the Autobots are history"
"Auto who? What the hell is an all spark?"
Sam took her bag out reached in and took out a phone throwing it in to the air Omega transformed and began an assault. Poppy saw this and then she spotted what looked like robot toys in her bag.
"Is anyone going to explain?"
"I'll explain for ya pops." Poppy saw Sam glowing on ground as she dropped her bag "I'm the all spark, the Autobots are my friends and Demolishor you're going to put my friend down" Sam then transformed in to a Cybertronian
Poppies eyes widened she couldn't believe what she was hearing or seeing for that matter.
"Make me all spark"
"I have a name" Sam transformed her right hand in to a gun and pointed it at his head "It's Samantha and I'll make sure you remember that when I'm done with you"
The Decepticon held Poppy up as a shield knowing Sam would never fire then but Sam kicked his arm holding her up making him realise Poppy and for her to go flying in to the air. Sam then started shooting care of where her bag was, she kept an eye on Poppy and then kicked him again this time making him fall backwards. Sam seized the moment to hold out her left hand and catch Poppy.
"You okay" She asked
Poppy nodded in shock, she then turned and saw her captor standing back up with a gun pointed at him again. He looked like he had fought Megatron himself. Sam held firmly on to Poppy keeping her near waiting for the con to make his move.
"Go back to Megatron a failure and leave this place and the people alone or I won't go so easy on you next time"
He looked disappointed and he knew that Megatron would do more harm to him if he went back empty handed. He then began charging at Sam. Scared poppy closed her eyes and hoped for the best. Sam started shooting again but she jumped up just as Poppy opened her eyes and she high kicked Demolishor making him go down again but this time he couldn't get up. Sam then placed Poppy on the floor next to her bag and walked up to him she transformed her gun back in to a hand and put it on his chest. Glowing the decepticon began to vanish like a ghost slowly disappearing and then before long he was gone.
"What did you do to him?"
Sam looked down at her friend and then Transformed in to a car.
"I teleported him right back to Megatron, hope he has something to say about his followers lack of success"
Poppy was confused she didn't really follow what Sam had done to him other than teleported him somewhere but she was stunned to see he best friend now a talk car. The door flung open.
"Get in and bring the bag, but be careful" she added in
Poppy did as instructed she climbed in and placed the bag on the driver's seat, the door closed it self and the seat belt wrapped itself around her clicking in to place.
"erm are we not going to talk about what just happened and what you are?"
"I'm normal apart from the all spark in side of me that gives me all these powers that I use all the time but don't seem to notice"
"I think you need to slow down, all spark what is that?"
As Sam was driving she projected and image of the all spark on the windscreen she then projected other images and labels to help Poppy understand.
"What you just saw was a transformer a Cybertronian, they are hiding amongst us some are good some like the one back there are bad. The bad ones are called Decepticons and the good ones are called Autobots. This all spark somehow got inside of me replacing my heart so now I have powers and it keeps me alive somehow, its why I can do stuff like transform too"
Poppy couldn't take what she was hearing all in.
"The cons want the all spark which is me and the Autobots have been protecting me ever since but something happened to them that made them how can I say unfit to do their job"
Outside the car a bike with no rider was moving alone with them, Sam lowered the window and just then the bike transformed in to a bird and flew in landing in the driver's seat. Poppy got scared he had been helping to fight that robot.
"And this is Omega activate to protect me up close, he's not like the others but he's fine"
"We can hear you you know" said a voice
"Yeah and we're not unfit we're just smaller than we should be" said another
"What is that?"
Sam laughed.
"You don't need to be scared Poppy they won't hurt you. Look in the bag"
Poppy reached over and lifted the top of the bag up to see little robots waving at her. She shrieked as she let go. They all then came out from the bag letting themselves be seen. Slowly each Autobot introduced themselves to her but she recognised one of the voices it seemed similar somehow. Poppy looked out she saw the tress all around and noticed big oak when they drove past it, it was a bumpy ride but Poppy had no idea of where they were going. They reached the old house when they stopped and everyone got out of the car, once everyone was out the Autobots transformed in to their vehicle modes and so did Sam back in to a human.
A surprised glance was given to Sam as Poppy watched her turn back to normal it was hard to believe that Sam could really do all that. She then looked down at the small bots and saw one that stood out to her more than the others
"I remember you, I made you stop to help Sam when she went missing. Sam asked me to get one of you to help her and you all match her description" Poppy pointed
"That's me I was wondering when you would recognise me, I couldn't believe you were stopping me at first but when you mentioned Sam I raced off to help" Hot Shot boasted
"You nearly ran me over"
Everything was quiet for a moment before Poppy spoke up.
"I don't believe it I've seen these guys all over the city and all along they were alien robots"
"Transformers Poppy and they need our help"
"Right why again?"
"Think Poppy were they this size when you saw them driving around"
"Oh right they got smaller" Poppy laughed
"Hey it's not funny and the technical term is shrunk" Shouted Scattershot
Poppy just ignored him she thought it was funny how huge, strong robots could so weakly get shrunk to the size of a tennis ball.
"So why are we here?"
Sam chose not to answer but teleport them right to the command centre of the base. Poppy was amazed that Sam and transported them here but everything around her stunned her more. The giant monitor was huge and so was the chairs the Autobots natural size must be big.
Poppy watched as Sam gathered the Autobots in vehicle form in to her hands and she then started to levitate getting higher and higher, she was practically flying until she settled down on top of a long bar from where a big key pad was. She placed the Autobots down as the transformed back in to bot mode and Sam also transformed so that she could use the keys. Sitting in the chair Sam started typing scanning and searching for what they were looking for.
"How is it you know Cybertronian Sammy?"
Scattershot just looked down at the new girl before replying "You're not that bright are you. The all spark allows her to do anything it understands any language"
"Wow"
Poppy ignored his comment about her being not that bright.
After a few minutes of silence Sam finally spoke.
"I'm sorry Optimus but I can't find any trace or readings to the shrink ray"
"Maybe we haven't widened our search enough" he suggested
"With all due respect Optimus the decepticons wouldn't go outside their base with it, and they wouldn't risk having it in their base because we know where it is and how to get in there"
"Well have you thought about going to the decepticon base and looking?" questioned Poppy
"Are you mad? Megatron is smarter than that and that would mean Sam going in by herself facing off against god knows how many decepticons, and yes she's done it before but Megatron will be there and" worried red alert
"You worry too much if she's done it before then she can do it again and she won't be alone. I'm going too"
Everyone then burst out laughing, Poppy got insulted by this.
"Poppy you can't be serious when I fought Megatron neither one of us was winning and both of us was getting weaker I ended up passing out because of it" Explained Sam
"How bad can it be I can fight?"
"Stop it Poppy you couldn't even hold your own against Demolishor, you'll get badly hurt. Why do you think I said earlier about your life being at risk?"
"Fine but why were you at the enemies base then"
"Poppy how do you think my mum got into hospital"
"Decepticons"
Optimus then thought that it was time for him to step in.
"Yes the big explosion was Megatron he captured Sam's mother to get to her but Sam got the better of him in the end"
"Oh you guys are no fun I'm going home"
Poppy walked off just as the monitor picked something up. Sam quickly triangulated its position to the museum.
"The shrink ray is at the museum" Said Wing Saber
"But how" asked Red alert
"I guess we go find out" suggested Sam
Everyone nodded in agreement until Bumblebee suddenly noticed that Poppy had gone.
"What about Poppy" he said
"Well I teleported us here because I didn't want her to completely know where the base was so she won't be able to get out and communication is blocked so if we leave her here we know she isn't going to do anything stupid" explained Sam
She then teleported each of them outside of the museum transforming back to a human just before in the process. Leaving Poppy to wonder about the base corridors alone.
