Chapter 19

I know you guys must get a lot of these apologies about not updating but unfortunately I had exam, I'm so sorry.

Sam woke up the next morning with her head resting on the bed side of where her mother slept, her phone was lying next to her head. Sam felt ill herself the knowledge of the professor, a person Sam considered a good friend even family, had created the shrink ray. But how?

The continuous beeping of the monitor could be heard and the smell of clean surfaces that had been recently washed. Her eyes kept closing and going over the memory of last night's conversation with Scattershot, and yet she still couldn't believe it. She sat up to see her mother resting peacefully in her bed with the top part of her head bandaged up as well as most of her arms. Her hair rested below her shoulder, even though she had been in a coma for ages it was still clean and curled slightly so that it bounced a little.

Sam held her mum's hand wanting to find comfort in that this is the longest time spent with her mother in one place but it did not mean anything to her because she was unconscious. All of a sudden Samantha's phone started vibrating, it was a message from Poppy.

Meet at café with Amy in an hour-Poppy x

Sam wanted to text back and suggest another place to meet her friends because the café was across the road from the museum and Sam didn't want to go anywhere near it. There was no point with arguing with Poppy so Sam rose from where she was sitting, kissed her mum on the forehead and left the room. She wanted to freshen up before seeing her two best friends as she could feel the previous day's dirt wearing her down. Once outside the hospital Sam saw many people staring at her mostly because they knew who she was and why she was at the hospital in the first place. To avoid all the glares Sam put her jacket hood up, once she saw a familiar car waiting for her by the road she ran towards it and as if on cue the door swung open all by itself and then closed at soon as Sam had got in.

"Hey Bee, thanks for being here. Can you take me home please?"

"Sure thing, you look tired" bee buzzed

"Well I stayed here last night and most of the night I kept thinking about the professor"

Bumblebee was quiet for a second before he spoke up "Primes new orders are to stay away from him and the museum until we know what we are dealing with"

Samantha seemed surprised at the orders Optimus had laid out because Sam didn't really want to go near the place but then again she wanted answers

"But Bee we need answer's. What if the professor is working for the decepticons?"

"Everything will come to us in time Sam"

Bumblebee pulled up outside Sam's house and opened the door for her, when she was out she quickly turned towards bee for a second before he shut the door again.

"I'm going to spend the rest of the day with my friends Bee so do you mind staying out of sight?"

"Sure thing" was the reply she got before she closed the door herself and walked towards the front door. Sam turned the handle and opened the door to see both Jeeves and Emily cleaning the main foyer. They looked up at Sam together as she closed the front door after walking through it.

"Miss Samantha we were worried, where have you been?" asked Emily

"I was at the hospital"

Sam didn't want to deal with anymore of their questions and just power walked up the stairs straight to her room. Once in her room Sam opened the window and at once Omega flew in in his bird form and landed on her bed. He squawked at her and then roosted comfortably there. She remembered him being at the hospital last night and he must have returned to the autobots base when she was sleeping. Sam then was in her bathroom and took a shower. She let the water wash over her and drain through her hair as it took her pain away, her pain of never seeing her mum and dad, her pain of the decepticons torturing her mother and the pain of being betrayed by her old friend the professor and the thought that he was working with the enemy made her angry and feel very sick. Immediately she shut off the water and dried herself off, wrapping a towel around herself and then walking up to the sink to begin brushing her teeth. When Sam was finished she looked at the top of the mirror where she had stuck a picture of herself with Poppy and the professor at the museum together.

About 5 minutes later Sam had come out of her bathroom and dried her hair with the hairdryer. She loved the feeling of the air brushing through her hair and past her face because it was so natural and it reminded her of the wind and how the wind can push you of your feet because it was free and this is what Sam envied about the wind because she longed to be free. Once her hair was dry and brushed she put on some fresh clothes and grabbed her bag along with her phone and money before Omega transformed into an ipod and was also put into her bag. Not wanting to deal with more questions and concerns from the Emily and Jeeves, Sam rushed to the front door not even taking her jacket and as soon as she got outside she was greeted by Red Alert parked by the side walk.

"Red Alert what are you doing here?"

He didn't speak until he was certain there were no people around to hear them.

"I came to ask about your powers, you know that you're supposed to come by the base daily so that I can do check-ups. What if something was wrong?"

Sam walked towards him slowly.

"I know but I can't deal with that right now okay Red Alert, you know I have a life out here well at least I did before my mum was tortured or my best friend found out about you and then forgot or my good friend the professor that I've known for years"

Sam then ran off towards the café.

When she got there she saw Poppy sat with Amy outside the café talking to one another.

"Hey guys you all okay?" she asked

Amy smiled and stood to hug Sam

"I'm so sorry Sammy I heard about your mum, I feel terrible that you had been through all this while I was on holiday"

Samantha found comfort in Amy's words and her hug, it was just what she needed someone to listen and comfort her instead of telling her what to do or expecting so much from her.

"Thank you Amy but you don't need to feel bad"

"You look tired Sam, maybe you should have stayed home today and rested"

"…And lets poppy complain to me tomorrow no way"

They both laughed while Poppy sat there with an annoyed tone on her face, you could easily tell she was not impressed.

"So Amy tell us about your holiday, how was it?"

Although Sam was interested in Amy's time that she had spent on her holiday she was more interested when she saw the professor go in to the museum across the road. Just then the waitress came out and asked the three if there was anything she could get them.

"Three cappuccino's please" said Poppy

Sam quickly paid the waitress before any of the others could and then she looked over at the museum for a moment. She knew that Optimus had ordered everyone to stay away from it until they knew what was going on but Sam wanted answers and she was only going to get them by going over there and demanding them.

"Excuse me guys I'm going to use the museum's toilets"

Sam then got up from her seat and went towards the museum. When she entered there was no one about but she did spot the professors office door open. She approached the door quietly not knowing where the professor was. As she peered in she could see that there was no one in there but his computer was turned on. She saw her chance to learn everything she could about what was going on and wanted to learn everything she could. Sam opened her bag and took out a USB drive and plugged it in to the computer. She programmed it to copy and download all the data that was on the computer so that she could rummage around in it later. A download bar appeared and as it slowly increased Sam grew nervous with the thought of the professor who could come back at any time and figure out what she is up to.

Somehow Sam knew that the smarter thing to do would be to come back tomorrow and ask him questions when the museum was open to the public just in case the professor tried something so that Sam would be safe. Pretty much hidden in plain sight.

Once the download was complete Sam decided to search for the professor and figured that he would be where he kept the shrink ray initially before the autobots had taken it for a safety's sake. Sam glanced down the corridor to see the high tech door wide open so she knew that he was in there. Probably panicking about the shrink ray missing. Sam stepped in to the door and it was obvious that the professor had not heard her as he was doing something in the corner of the room. Although Sam could not see what he was standing over it did look like blue prints and there was something that Sam had never seen before so there was no way she would be able to tell what it was.

"Professor?"

The old man jumped when he heard her voice as he did not expect to have company.

"Samantha…What are you doing here?"

"I'm sorry, it's just I saw you come in. What is this place? I've never been in this part of the museum and you know for a fact professor that I've been in all the different parts of this building."

"This is just where we store things Samantha, it's off limits"

Sam could tell he was hiding something and that he wasn't too happy that she was in there.

"But there's nothing in here professor. It looks more like this place was used to build stuff. Do you do construction here too?"

"No Samantha we don't. I need to know about your transforming friends you once told me about"
He began to lead her out of the room and towards the lobby.

"Professor you said you didn't want to know too much about them. Why are you so interested in cybertronians"

"They just they fascinate me, through their technology"

Sam stepped away from him as soon as he said that.

"Professor what cybertonians have you been talking to?"

He was about to answer her question when she quickly asked another.

"How did you know how to build the shrink ray?"

At once the professor was very surprised to learn that Samantha knew about his secret project.

"I have a friend that provided me with the means to build the device, he said his name was Demolishor."

At the mention of his name Sam backed away and tears started to appear in her eyes

"You're working for the decepticons, you… you helped put my mum in the hospital"

Sam didn't stand around to listen to him anymore she got the information she needed. Sam ran out of the museum and once outside she saw Poppy and Amy still sat outside of the café with the drinks she ordered on the table. Sam wanted to get away from the museum immediately but she didn't want to leave Amy and Poppy especially since she hasn't seen Amy in a while.

Sam approached her two friends carefully.

"Guys I'm sorry but something has come up so I need to go"

Just as she said it Amy stood to hug her friend and Sam left. She quickly walked past the museum and saw the professor looking out at her. He could easily see the hurt in her eyes as she didn't want to look at him. She started to slow her pace the further she got from the museum, just then she opened her bag and Omega flew out in his bird form and landed on her shoulder.

Sam smiled as she felt happy that he was with her. Sam no longer trusted the professor and she didn't want Poppy to get hurt either. Somehow she felt as if she let herself in for it by going there and demanding answers, she quickly turned to Omega as she was walking home.

"Omega tell the autobots that the professor was given the details about how to build the shrink ray by demolishor and that he is working for the decepticons"

Omega immediately flew away to the base.

"As for me I'm going to see what the professor intended to do with his toy"
