Chapter 23

Grins of victory were sketched over all of the decepticons faces as they saw one of their own holding the girl in his hands, her body was limp and drips of bloods flowed down the cons hand as he gasped her and held a blaster to her head. His words echoed in their heads and it didn't take them long to put down their weapons and place their hands in the air to signify their surrender. Megatron quickly swatted Optimus away from him as he motioned for con to approach him. Immediately he did as commanded the other autobots gathered around Optimus as he was sat up on the floor, each watching as Sam's limp body swayed with the decepticons movements. She was dropped into Megatrons hand and the con then turned his attention to the autobots holding his blaster out at them. Of course Megatron knew better he wasn't going to kill the human, he needed what she had which disgusted him. His hand open wide as she was now lying along his hand. The autobots optics immediately widened as they saw the piece of metal that was wedged in to the side of her body, which was the source of her bleeding.

"It seems your incompetence Optimus had led to the demise of human girl you worked hard to protect"

Optimus frowned at the evil overlord watching as he placed the girl on a metal table and a glass case shut over her. Megatron chuckled as his second in command emerged out of the shadows and walked to the controls

"Starscream, power up the machine"

Starscream smiled as he reached for a lever and pulled it down, everyone's attention turning to the machine that powered up above the encased Samantha. The noise seemed to disturb her as she began to mumble and then groan as she was in deep pain, her eyes opened up slowly the darkness made it easier for her but there was a light that seemed to be getting brighter and brighter. A mechanical noise annoyed her, it sounded as though something was warming up, it was then that she remembered the white van almost falling on top of her and the metal debris that bounced and landed in her side. She felt weak and noticed that her hands felt wet she carefully lifted one so that she could see, the urge to be sick filled her when her entire hand was covered in blood it was no wonder that she felt incredibly weak.

Taking in her surroundings a bit more she knew then that she was in the decepticon base, the glass that encased her made it hard for her to breathe as she felt trapped. She quickly banged her hands at the glass trying to break it but it was a futile attempt as she was only wasting what energy she had left. Sam leaned her head round to see the autobots huddled together as they saw her moving inside.

"HEY! GET ME OUT OF HERE"

Sam began to scream out and hit the glass hoping that her friends would hear her, of course they could. Why wouldn't they? Movement in the corner of her eyes made her jerk her head to look straight up and she hated what she saw. Megatrons evil optics staring at her for a short period of time and then looking at the autobots.

"You put your faith in the wrong bots" he laughed

"No, please let me out" fear in her voice, water building in her voice "If anyone has put their faith in the wring people that would be you, you over sized tin can, you rely on your solder too much"

She tried to pluck up the courage but her fear of being in enclosed spaces overcame her she couldn't take it, she had only told a select few of her irrational fear but only one of the bots out there new it and that was the one she had the most faith in. Bumblebee. The others were confused at her sudden outburst of fear of being in a small case but Bee knew all too well as she had secretly shared with him her bad past experience that had scarred her for life. This enraged the scout he was supposed to protect her, he didn't blame scattershot he knew that his comrade had done everything he could but there was no way he was going to just sit there like the other autobots and watch whatever they were going to do to her even if the decepticons around them did have them pinned down.

Bumblebee's face grew angrier and angrier until he could no longer take just sitting around and listening her trying to free herself. Each of the autobots clenched their fists as the machine was then fully activated by starscream and a beam of scarlet red light shot down into the capsule and made contact with Sam. It was obvious they were trying to drain her power so that they could use it themselves, they had travelled too longer distance to just leave in some human like the autobots had done. Sam's pain was amplified as the energy felt like it was burning her from the inside out.

"I'm afraid your human pet won't survive the transferring process" Megatron mocked them

It pained them to listen to her screams but for the decepticons it was pure song for them to hear something suffer. It wasn't long before everyone's concentration was taken away from the screaming girl and on to the sound of grinding metal, to the side Bee had given in to his anger and had now engaged the cons around them. It didn't take long for the others to quickly run into action as they too began taking down the cons, Optimus immediately charging at Megatron and engaging him in a fight. Bumblebee blasted a couple of decepticons and off lined them but noticed that the only one that had not moved was starscream as he made sure that the autobots did not interfere with the process. Bee quickly ran at him throwing punches which were swiftly evaded and returned but Bumblebee manage to evade also just as starscream was about to fire at Bee Wing Saber threw himself at the seeker holding him down. Bee took the opportunity to blast the console into pieces. The machine immediately shut down and the red beam retreated. The other autobots surrounded Starscream as wing saber punched him in the face which made him fall to the floor. Bee however had moved from the broken console to the capsule, he saw that Sam was barely conscious inside and was lying in a pool of her own blood. He violently grabbed the glass and ripped it off throwing it at Megatron as he was preoccupied with his battle with Prime but the object caught him off guard making him fall down.

Optimus looked to the others seeing that Bee had carefully picked Sam up and was now cradling her in his servos.

"Optimus to base, we require a bridge"

As if on cue the bridge appeared and each of the autobots ran through it Bee and Sam first with the others following close behind, they swiftly arrived at the base the green-blue portal closing behind them. They didn't stay still long enough for them to acknowledge that there was four other humans waiting for them, sat on the main console. Bee ran into the medical bay placing Sam on the table gently. Red alert quickly acting as he saw fit, the others gathering around him watching as he tried to assess her vital signs.

"Red Alert?" Hot Shot asked worriedly

"She has lost a lot of blood, I recommend that I remove the metal rod and then we take her to a hospital for better treatment"

Optimus nodded, he was not one to question medical expertise and it was clear to all of them that there was definitely nothing they could do for blood loss. Scattershot joined the others shortly after Red Alert had asked everyone to leave so that he could carry out the procedure without any complications. They all waited patiently outside in silence trying to block out the occasional cry of pain from Samantha. Red Alert even requested Omega to assist as he was much smaller.

"I'm sorry guys, I should have protected her better" scattershot mumbled

A series of beeps came from Bee as he tried to make the blue bot feel better.

"It's not okay Bee, if it were you you would have made sure she was fine"

"Scattershot, you did your best that's all we could ask for" Hot Shot tried to reassure him

A couple of moments later Red Alert appeared, his face tired and concerned.

"Red Alert, how is she?" Optimus asked

"I removed the rod and patched her side up but she requires human medical attention as well, they can do things for her that I can't"

"You have done your best old friend" Optimus turned to Bee "Bumblebee go with Red Alert and watch over her"

The medical bot transformed into his ambulance vehicle form, opening his back doors to allow Omega access as the minicon carried her in, the doors shutting behind them. Bee then transformed himself and followed Red Alert out of the base towards the hospital. As they left Prime turned t the four humans.

"You are very brave to help us, we thank you"

"Will Miss Samantha be okay?"

"She will be alright"
It was then his attention was drawn to the main computer as scattershot brought up some video footage.

"Optimus we have a problem, Megatron is going reaking havoc on the city and is heading towards Sam's home"

"Are there any other decepticons around?"

"No Sir, looks like he's finally getting his hands dirty and going on a solo mission"

"Keep Samantha's location under the radar, Autobots transform and roll out"

"Oh yeah, it's time to finish this" Wing Saber shouted as he did as commanded

Everyone but Scattershot had transformed and followed their leader out of the base straight downtown.

"What do we do?" Amy asked Scattershot

The mech sat down at the console and began working

"We help anyway we can from here"

As he finished one screen brought up the live feed of Megatron and another brought up a message that was quickly sent to the local police department.

"I don't suppose you could send text alerts to all phone frequencies in the city asking them to stay away from 'danger zone'" Poppy suggested

"Good idea" he said and then it was done

They knew it had worked as they all had their mobiles on them and received one from the local authorities informing them of the 'danger' and what to do.

It didn't take long for the other Autobots to arrive at the scene, where Megatron was not holding back his anger of his plans being thwarted as the mech was destroying everything that got in his way not worrying about any exposure. Of course that would be the last thing on his mind. He had worked hard to ensure that he would have the girl and the all spark would be his but once again his enemy interfered and took her away. There was no telling where she was now.

The decepticon leader laid his optics on the speedy Autobots that had wasted no time in coming to him. Optimus was the only one to transform as he stepped towards him.

"Megatron you have lost. Stand down before you hurt anyone else"

Megatron didn't reply and he didn't have to, Prime knew all too well that it wasn't his style. Megatron would keep fighting until the last drop of energon left his body. The con leader extending a sharp blade from his arm. Optimus narrowed his optics at him and did the same.

"Autobots ensure that no humans are in the vicinity"

They all sped off to different locations to help any humans that needed it.

"Please stop" her voice pleaded from inside Red Alert

He had been ignoring her pleas for a while now but as they grew closer and closer to the hospital she had insisted that he stopped. Sam had had enough she knew he wasn't going to so she stood from laying down and made her way to the back doors which caused him to quickly pull over on the side of the road, bumblebee doing the same after following closely behind them. As he stopped she quickly jumped out, Omega stay close just in case she hurt herself. Sam's attention was drawn to the centre of the city where she saw black smoke rising in to the air from behind the buildings in front of her. Bee was concerned and gave her a series of beeps.

"Bee's right Sam, you lost too much blood we need to get you to a hospital"

"I'm fine Red Alert"

"You're weak. It's a wonder that you're not unconscious right now"

She ignored him and Bumblebee's pleas seeing as they did ignore her. She closed her eyes and focussed her thoughts on her surrounding, getting a feel of what was going on. Only moments later did she open them with a sudden gasp coming from her mouth that resulted in both autobots transforming and crouching down to her level.

"What's wrong?" the autobot medic asked

"Optimus…He needs help. He's fighting Megatron"

Bee shook his finger at her before activating his radio. "No way…stay safe"

"Bee I'm never going to be safe, not as long as Megadork and the decepticreeps are active"

"What are you suggesting?"

She turned to the Red Alert her face focussed on the situation at hand as she thought for a moment.

"As far as everyone is concerned I'm somewhere safe and unreachable along with you two, it's the perfect opportunity"

Both the bots have her confusing look, they had a slight suspicion at where she was going.

"Optimus is fighting Megadork, we can sneak attack. Catch him off guard…Take him down once and for all"

There was silence for a long moment. None of them knowing what to say. Well the obvious thing to say was to refuse her and tell her she was crazy and that they were going to the hospital but she did have a point.

"You're not in any state to fight Sam"

"You won't be able to take him down without me. The power of the all spark is the only way to finish this. What good is running going to do?"

"Sam you haven't got the energy to fight"

"Then give me some energon"

Bee was quite warned by this. He knew what too much energon could do to her and wasn't willing to risk it.

"Energon?"

"The all spark needs energon while it's in this form, I feel stronger when you inject it into me. If I lost a lot of blood then energon should relight that spark"

Red Alert thought for a moment, the proposition going over and over in his head. There was a high probability that it would work. The energon would replace the blood loss for now but after she burns it off she would go back to feeling weak again. He looked at Bee with his eye brow arched in a questioning way towards the scout. Bee quickly picked up on it and stood tall his hands shaking at him before they folded over his chest, diverting his gaze away obviously signifying that he refused to along with the plan he wasn't going to let the medic take the liquid energon out of his system.

"Come on Bee, you know she has to have it straight from one of us in liquid form not the way we do"

Bumblebee showed no sign of changing his mind, which made Red Alert just shrug at Sam.

"Back to plan A"

Both bots transformed and awaited for her and Omega to get back into the ambulance. Sam knew that she couldn't get Omega to give her energon as he had little in him but that was because he was a minicon. But then a light build lit above her head.

"Omega"

He nodded knowing what she was requesting and not long after a portal appeared on the pathway beside the road, she quickly ran inside followed by Omega, ignoring Bee and Red Alerts calls for her to come back. The portal shut behind them after they appeared in the base on top of the console, confused looks from Jeeves, Emily, Poppy, Amy and Scattershot were given to both of them.

"Sam. You're supposed to be…with"

Sam didn't give him time to finish his sentence. "Scattershot there's an emergency, there's no time to lounge about staring at a screen" she pointed towards the main screen on the wall with the live feed of the others "I need energon"

"Energon but you…"

"Scattershot, we've been given an opportune moment it's time to take it and finish this"

"We need someone to take the energon from"

"That's why I came to you. You're in the place where you keep your supply, the smart thing to do would be to get it from you"

He nodded. It was the logical thing to do. He had had enough of this war. At once he stood and made his way to the medical bay coming back out a minute later with the instrument he needed.

The other humans looked at the giant needle sticking out of it.

"You're not serious" Poppy shouted as she watched scattershot sit back down and stab himself with the piece of equipment

The glass container in the center began to fill with a luminous blue liquid. The blue bot withdrew it from himself when he was sure there was enough in there to make up for the blood loss the girl had suffered. It was then that he began to feel a little dizzy himself, he had to hurry and refill his energon supply. Sam moved closer to him not fearing for what he was about to do as he changed the needle end to a clean one. He moved the needle down to her arm and was about to inject the liquid in to her when a voice stopped him.

"You can't do that, she'll die. Sam is no Alien robot" Amy argued

"That could be argued differently" said Sam as she lifted her arm

The needle penetrated her skin, she had it done before so it didn't hurt her but as the energon was pushed into her body she felt a sudden rush, a burst of energy that filled her up. The others took particular notice to her eyes that began to glow a bright blue as the canister emptied and the needle was drawn out of her.

"Miss Samantha are you okay?" Jeeves asked

She gave a mischievous grin before running towards the edge of the console and jumping, they ran to the edge after her and leaned over watching the young girl fall to the floor, to her death. Each screaming out her name but they were silenced when within a second Sam had gone and a new bot stood tall over them, it was even taller than scattershot dare they say perhaps taller than Optimus Prime himself. Everything about the bot was familiar, coloured blue and purple with slim curves and bright blue optics.

"Sam?" Emily quivered, holding on to the manservant

"This time Megatron is going to be the one nearly dying"

They each recognised the voice to be the young girl they all loved. Of course Scattershot wasn't as star struck as the humans were, he stood giving her a firm pat on her shoulder before he straddled away to get some energon. Sam watched him leave, knowing he's be alright she turned her gaze to the main monitor and watched for moment. Megatron showed every sign of anger on his face and wasn't even attempting to hide it.

"Omega, take care of them"

His face was cocked to the left slightly as he knew that she was asking him to stay with her friends and protect them but he had assumed that he was going with her but of course she had a point, this weren't always going to be easy or simple for that matter. It was smart thinking asking him to stay behind. She turned away from them and began walking away towards one of the far walls.

"Sam, you can't fight them" Amy shouted

"It's too dangerous" Emily cried

"It's not your fight" Poppy screamed

Sam stopped and peered over her shoulder at them.

"It's been my fight since I first got involved. When you lot were oblivious to what was really happening around you"

"Sammy you're not one of them. You're a human" Poppy argued

"No" She walked back to them, her towering height frightened them slightly "No one tells me what to do anymore. My family is out there and I'm not going to walk away like some weak being" She gestured towards the monitor.

The humans looked at it noticing that Omega had changed the display so that it was showing each and every one of the autobots. They turned back to her with worried and questioning looks.

"You're wrong Poppy, I'm an autobot"

As soon as her sentence was finished she disappeared in a bright blue and purple light, leaving only the memory of her words behind for them to go over in their heads. Sam's voice was then heard through the speakers as she was now in the live feed in the city centre.

Sam had teleported herself into the air, as she appeared she began freely fall towards the ground, Optimus saw her as she fell and quickly kicked Megatron in the stomach making him stagger backwards into potion as Sam landed on on his shoulder pushing all her weight down onto him. This made him fall backwards. Sam quickly jumped off and landed opposite Optimus both staring at Megatron that was now picking himself up.

"Surprise bucket head" she mocked

Megatron was quite surprised to see the girl was now fit to fight but he wasn't going to give his enemies the pleasure of seeing him surprised. He had a reputation to keep.

"Well isn't this a pleasure. Aren't you supposed to be dead or at least nearly dead?"

"You really think it would be that easy? Unlike you I don't run away"

This made the con leader even angrier and his fury is what seemed to be fuelling him at the time. He clenched his fist and ran at her not even bothering to notice that Optimus was still there. Sam smirked and quickly jumped out of the way of one of his attacks, launching herself into the air and transforming her arms into blasters. As she landed she began firing at him running circles around the mech. It was clear that his attention was completely on her and Optimus quickly figured that she was getting him to see that Megatron wasn't interested in him. Immediately Optimus ran to one of the buildings and began climbing up it, out of sight. By then Sam was starting to struggle with evading his attacks and he own were not doing what she had hoped. She knew she could use the all spark to overpower him but she would need a moment to concentrate on what she wanted to do. Her thoughts distracted her as she was hit on her side which made her flinch as she had not recovered from her previous injury and it was very tender around that area. Megatron noticed this weakness and used it to quickly hit her in the face and blaster her side.

Sam fell on the ground in pain, she held her side, covering it with her hand. Optimus saw this but he didn't lose track of what he was doing he kept climbing until he was at the top of the building, he took particular notice of a construction crane that was overlooking the building and the long heavy chain that was attached to it which something that looked like it could do some serious damage to a bot something Megatron wouldn't have paid any particular attention to. Optimus ran to it and with his extended blade he cut one of the chains holding it up.

Rustling could be heard above Megatron which made him turn his gaze to up above him away from Sam on the ground.

"Prime!" he growled

Megatron raised his blaster cannon and began firing at the Prime, Optimus managed to evade a couple of shots but one managed to hit the buildings edge causing most of it to collapse along with Prime. Megatrons smile grew wider as he saw that he had both sam and Optimus right where he wanted them.

"It seems that even the strongest of beings falls eventually. It just a shame your all alone" Megatron insulted them as he aimed his cannon at Sam first.

The blaster started powering up of course he was going to make sure that she stayed down this time. It was then after closing her eyes for a second that she grinned back at the evil over lord. He raised an eyebrow at her expression as he held her there at gun point.

"Do you really think we autobots are alone?"

As if on cue all the autobots including Bee, Red Alert and Scattershot sped around the trio circling them, transforming as soon as they came to a stop and pointing their own guns at the con leader It caught him off guard as he kept his aim at Sam's head.

"Put down your weapons or she loses her head"

Everyone was silent only a couple of mumbles and groans came from them as they slowly lowered her weapons. Sam took this time to her advantage.

"Go ahead"

"Huh" in unison the autobots looked towards her

"You think you scare me Megadork? You want to shoot me, fine."

"Sam?" Wing Saber questioned her

"Don't lower your weapons guys"

Their faces were price less, so much confusion and worry in their eyes. But they trusted her with their lives the trusted her so they did as she said and raised their weapons again.

"That is a foolish decision"

Megatron didn't wait for her to answer, he immediately fired his cannon straight at her head. The others watching and they looked so scared. Sam's name was being shouted left and right as they saw Megatron's blast head straight for her but instead of ducking out of the way Sam quickly raised her hands to catch it. It amazed everyone even the con that she was able to focus on the task at hand and use the all spark that allowed her to be immortal to these attacks. It was by good chance that this power wasn't going to her head like it had obviously done with Megatron.

As soon as she had caught it she redirected it by throwing the blast up towards the final cable of the construction crane that Optimus was at earlier. The blast cut right through it severing the chain making it fall down towards him. Everyone watched as it took only a few seconds to fall on top of Megatron, the weight of it alone would be too much for any bot to handle, no one would have survived it. The dust that rose up from eh impact slowly settled to reveal that the decepticon leader was no longer whole, split in half to be exact. Sam watched as his blood red optics flashes for a moment and then faded signifying his demise.

"Humans aren't so pathetic when they have equipment that can hurt you are they?" Sam asked rhetorically

The autobots lowered their weapons and gathered around Sam as she stood still holding her side with one of her hands.

"Sam that was…"

"Incredible!"

"Amazing!"

"Brave!"

"Thanks guys"

She smiled. She wasn't wrong when she told Poppy and the others that they were her family, the autobots were always her family. It was something that would never be forgotten. Red Alert noticed that she looked pained and took further interest in the side of her body.

"Sam, is that the same side as before?" he asked

"Yeah sorry Red Alert, looks like I'll need patching up again" she laughed as she took her hand away to show that she was leaking energon

She quickly reverted back to her normal human state. Even as her normal self she was still bleeding energon.

"You're not going to make me go to the hospital again are you?"

"No I think I can look at that" he laughed

In the distance sirens could be heard getting closer and closer. Scattershot took note of the deceased decepticons body and then at all of them.

"Optimus our cover hasn't been exposed yet"

"Then we shall keep it that way" Prime opened up his com link to the base "Omega we require a bridge"

At once the blue-green portal appeared. Wing Saber and Optimus gathered what was left of Megatron and headed in to the portal, one by one they disappeared and it shut behind them just as the local authorities started to arrive on the scene.

2 Months later

It had taken a while for Samantha to recover from her injuries and severe blood loss but she managed to rest and regain her strength fully without the need of energon. She had even spent much of her time in the hospital wither mum until it was time for her to be discharged. Of course things didn't change, Sam's parents were back to their usual working self's after her mother was completely recovered and Sam actually didn't mind. She didn't even care that her parents didn't visit her anymore, because as far as she was concerned her family was right beside her the whole time. Jeeves, Emily and her friends particularly Poppy and of course the autobots. They were a big part of her life and Sam figured if her parents did change then she wouldn't see her alien friends anymore which made her even happier that they didn't.

Poppy had convinced her dad to keep his current job and stay in the city. After the whole ordeal there was no way she was going to leave it behind, and she had realised that Sam needed her a lot more than she needed Sam. But having said that the autobots did fill a hole for Sam so even if she did go she was sure that Sam wouldn't have minded.

It was bright day on the last day of the holidays, school was going to start up again the next day and the three friends had managed to catch up with any assignments that were given to them to complete over the holidays, it wasn't like Poppy's dad was going to let her forget about it anyway. It was around 2:24 in the afternoon and Sam was spending time in the kitchen learning Emily's recopies with the help of Omega, who had now developed to the point of being a fully developed minicon. One that could talk no problem and understood things more from a human's point of view.

"Keep stirring Sam, otherwise you won't get the texture you want"

"But my arms hurt"

"I'll do it for a while I you would like?" Omega offered

She nodded as she passed the bowl and whisk to him, he then began stirring the mixture inside the bowl just like Sam had as he had been observing her while he chopped some ingredients up for later use. As Sam leaned against the side the doorbell rang and the sound of her two friends entering after Jeeves had opened it for them filled the mansion. Amy and Poppy soon entered the room seeing Sam with her apron tied around her and Omega stirring a bowl with a whisk. Smiles grew on each of their faces as they embraced each other quickly and then sat down together at a small table that was not situated in the kitchen.

"I can't believe time has passed so quickly" moaned Amy

"Ha this coming from the one that went on holiday and did spend the first part fighting alien robots" Sam laughed

"Aw Sammy you make it sound like such a bummer" Poppy

"You try fighting a decepticon and then you won't be joking around"

"Speaking of which, Sammy when are you going to tell us where the autobot base is"

Sam shrugged, she never really considered telling them only because they would only on occasion come with her to the base but that was because their parents would usually call them and interfere. Something Sam didn't have to worry about seeing as the adults she was around all the time and actually were there for her when she needed them already knew about her cybertronian friends and had gathered that with the all spark she could easily take care of herself.

There was no real answer to give her best friend. Omega then walked up to the trio and placed the bowl down on the table to Sam's phone that she always kept on her person.

"I've finished stirring"

"Good and now you need to add the ingredients that chopped up a couple of minutes ago" Emily instructed

Omega and Sam stared at each other and gave off a moan at how work they were putting into this one recipe. But before either of them could do anything Sam's phone began giving off a high alert and on the screen appeared the autobot insignia flashing in red. Sam quickly picked her phone up, pushing a button and placing it in between both her and Omega so that both could hear.

"Optimus what do you need?" she asked

Everyone else in the room awaited Sam's response as they couldn't hear what was being said on the other side of the phone.

"On it"

She quickly hung up the phone and placed it in her jean pocket, she took a couple of looks at everyone in the room each of them nodding at her. Immediately Sam ripped her apron off and threw on the table as she ran out of the kitchen straight to the front door, where she met Jeeves who was holding her jacket out for her. Amy, Poppy and Emily had followed them out of the kitchen and were now situated by the front door window watching as Sam gave a smile to him and he nodded at her, Sam taking her jacket and putting it on as Omega opened the door and jumped out transforming into a bike. Sam then ran out of the door and jumped on to Omega who then sped off down the road. As they increased in speed each of the autobots in turned joined the two as they cruised down the road heading straight for the edge of town. Sam gave a happy look at each of them as they each beeped their horn at her.

As they arrived Sam quickly jumped off of Omega and stood still staring up at the rogue decepticon that was heading for the city. Omega transformed and displayed his weapons pointing them at the con. Optimus, Red Alert, Scattershot, Hot Shot, Wing Saber and Bumblebee following his actions as they stood behind Sam. The con had finally noticed their presence and gave them a violent and unhappy look, his blades extended ready to fight.
