Chapter 35- 10 years

Ten years later

After they were forced out of the Seireitei the Kurosaki family escaped to the world of the living and took over the Kurosaki clinic, the parents would manage and treat anyone who came in and the children would work part time jobs and go to college, to everyone outside they looked like a normal family but one day every year the family would never leave the house and not talk to each other.

Kenshin sat alone in his room, thinking about the sister he lost, his face looked as grim as the thoughts he was having, he was about to get up from his spot on the floor when his twin walked in to his room and sat on the floor next to him, "what were you doing when it happened?" she asked neither of them looking at the other, "I was out with mum and Hisana", her face as miserable as her brothers

"I was out with friends" Kenshin remembered the day like it was yesterday

Flashback

Kenshin and some of his friends in squad 7 had been working all night to finish their work so captain Komamura had given them the day off, "what do you want to do now?" Kenshin asked the other 3 with him

"how about we go out for a drink" one of them suggested

"it's the middle of the day" another stated

"yeah I know but the bar maids are just so cute" the last one commented

"yeah I don't mind getting a drink" Kenshin said leading the way

"yeah but like I said it's the middle of the day and it will be boring" he looked nervous for some reason but he steeled himself and followed Kenshin and the others

The group sat in a tavern drinking and making fun of some of the captains after an hour they heard an explosion and when they all stood up to go investigate one of his friends tackled Kenshin to the ground and whispered in his ear, "for Aizen"

Before Kenshin knew what was going on the tavern went up in flames and killed everyone inside.

End flashback

"I will kill Aizen for what he forced him to do" Kenshin's hand was balled in to a fist, "he didn't want to kill all those people but it was Aizen who made him"

"you should know by now that just the idea of Aizen is evil, it killed your friends and took our lives and most of all it killed our sister" Masaki got up and left Kenshin to his anger

Back in the soul society Hikaru lived with his family in east rukongai 26, they ran a small medical clinic to help the residence of the town. Tarou walked out of his room, after just getting up, to find his father sitting at the table with his scarf on like always, "where's mum?" Tarou asked as he sat in front of his father

"she's down stairs managing the clinic" Hikaru told his son

"out of the way official gotei 13 business" the two heard some soul reapers just outside their window

"fucking soul reapers, they're nothing but heartless freeloading bastards" Tarou said with distain in his voice

Hikaru got a sad look on his face before he looked at his son and asked him, "do you remember your ninth birthday?"

"no I don't" he replied after thinking for a few minutes

'he still doesn't remember' Hikaru thought 'but I still don't know if it is because of head trauma or if it is psychosomatic'

"well don't strain yourself or you might melt your brain"

"why are you always so mean to me" Tarou threw a bit of water at his father

As Hikaru wiped off his face Isane ran in to the small apartment above the clinic, she seemed terrified and a bit out of breath, "what is it?" Hikaru asked

"soul reapers are in the clinic" she told him

"what exactly do they want?" Hikaru asked as he stood up

"their friend is injured and needs help" Tarou didn't get why they were both so worried but he also felt uneasy about helping soul reapers

"stay up here with Tarou I'll go help their friend" Hikaru walked down stairs to find a squad of 10 holding an injured comrade

Hikaru had them bring him to one of the exam rooms and he started to work on the out cold man, after a few minutes the man woke up, "how are you feeling?" Hikaru asked

"in pain" the man callously replied

"how did you get injured?"

"I was attacked by some soul reapers" the man sat up to look at Hikaru, "who brought me here I would like to thank them"

Hikaru sat there for a few seconds, shocked at what he said, before jumping up and running out the door and upstairs, he burst through the door to find three soul reapers searching the place and Tarou tied up and out cold but there was no sign of Isane. The soul reapers tried to attack Hikaru but they were no match for the captain and he killed them with ease before untying Tarou and waking him up, "where is your mother?" Hikaru asked panicked

"I don't know the soul reapers burst in and mum told me to follow her out the window but they knocked me out and that's all"

Hikaru stood up and walked in to his room, after a few minutes he walked out with some clothes four swords, "why do you have those?" Tarou asked as he stood up

"we need to leave" Hikaru walked out the door and Tarou ran after him

"why did those soul reapers attack us, what the hell is going on?" Tarou asked as he followed his father in to the woods and eventually to a huge mountain side with a cave in it, "what are we doing here?"

"Tarou you are going to learn to become a soul reaper" Hikaru stated as he looked in to the cave

"WHY WOULD I WANT TO BECOME ONE OF THEM, THEY'RE HEARTLESS MURDERS" Tarou screamed at his father, "and besides what would you know about being a soul reaper?"

"a lot, I am Hikaru captain of squad 5 of the gotei 13" with one swift move Hikaru put his captains coat on

"what the hell" was all Tarou could think to say
