Wow its been a while... Anyway, I'm going to guess that you noticed that I moved this fic from the Diabolik Lovers game to the anime category. The main reason is because I have never played the game and only saw the anime. That's why, if there are differences from the game, please understand.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy and I hope this chapter sort of excuses the long absence.
Also! I got a tumblr!
The name is on my profile, and please ignore the name, I have no idea what went through my head when I made it.
Its not really active but I am going to try to post drabbles, and answer questions that are asked.
Well, I hope you guys enjoy this chapter! I already have about a quarter of the next chapter ready!
Disclaimer: I do NOT own Diabolik Lovers.
Chapter IV
Running out of the music room, Tsubasa paused by the classroom door and placed a hand over her heart.
There was someone in the music room? For how long? Was he there every time she went there? How could she have not noticed him there?
A flash of his face went through her head causing Tsubasa to flinch at the thought. Due to the numerous time he would show up unannounced or silently caused that. The fact that she had failed to notice another presence in the room for so long, just, unnerved her.
Too caught up in her thoughts, she failed to notice the door close behind her. Snapping out of her trance, she whirled around to see that class had already started and that the teacher had locked the door behind him, locking her out. She raised her hand to knock on the door but paused as she remembered the warning she had gotten before she transferred to the school two weeks ago.
'We lock the classroom doors when classes start, don't be late, you won't be allowed in once they're closed,'
"No," she whispered before she glanced through the windows. She glanced at the material they were learning for the day before she pulled out her textbook and marked the areas that they were covering for the day. She scanned over the new material and looked up to make sure she had marked the correct pages before she placed her book back into her bag. She had an hour to kill before the next class. She didn't even realize where her feet were taking her until she paused at the door before her. She froze at the sign above the door. The music room. Maybe that person was gone by now, he looked around her age and he was wearing the school's uniform just like her. Slowly she opened the door before poking her head in. She scanned the area when her eyes locked with a pair of blue eyes. She let out a small shriek as she fell back onto the ground before the door opened fully and a figure towered over her. She froze as she looked up at him.
Shu remained silent as he stared down at the girl before him. The same girl from earlier. Aoki Tsu-, something. He stared down at her, their eyes locking when the two heard footsteps approaching the hallway. The two teens snapped up to see a teacher walking around carrying a a small stick in his hand. Tsubasa's body went rigid at the sight of the older person approaching before she snapped her head to the boy before her. He looked from the approaching adult to her nonchalantly.
Something in her snapped as she bolted up and pushed the boy into the room as she quickly followed him. As quickly and quietly as possible, she closed the door and leaned against the door. Her body tensed up at the thought of being caught. Memories of him and his beatings whenever he caught her hiding filled her head. She tensed up even more as fear enveloped her.
Shu remained silent, his eyebrow raised in slight amusement at the girl before him having a slight panic attack. He could tell that she was, freaked out to say the least. He could hear her heartbeat going awry as her eyes were wide at the thought of being caught. They had both heard stories of what happened to the students who were caught skipping class. Overall, it wasn't pretty.
Too caught up in her trance, Tsubasa once again forgot about the other presence in the room. She tensed up at the sound of the approaching footsteps, the sounds reminder her too much of the times he came back to the mansion.
"He's not going to come in here," Tsubasa froze as she remembered that she wasn't the only person in the room before she turned around to see the blonde boy from earlier walking towards the couch before he plopped down on to it, his eyes closed as he cushioned his head with his arms. He opened his eyes and glanced over at the girl still frozen by the door. "He wouldn't dare to enter this room. No one does, " Shu nonchalantly stated before he looked over to see that he had the girl's full attention. A pair of green eyes stared at him with a questioning look in her eyes.
"What?" the blonde male let out a small sigh before he faced forward and closed his eyes.
"This place is my room. Everyone here knows that."
"You room?" to say that he was getting irritated would be an understatement, this girl was plain annoying with her stupid questions.
" You're being too loud, shut up and leave," he ordered to which the girl simply stared at him, her green eyes boring into his face.
"I can't if you haven't noticed, class has already started and until the next hour, I can't be seen outside. Also this room isn't yours, its the schools." Shu opened his eyes and glanced over at her, she was bold, he admitted that. To stand up to him, a Sakamaki.
"You have a lot of nerve, do you even know who I am?" she tilted her head to the side in confusion at his question before she spoke.
"No, should I?"
"Does the name Sakamaki ring a bell to you?" he could see the girl pause as she tried to remember the name before she slowly shook her head.
"No, it doesn't."
To say he wasn't surprised would be a lie. Everyone in the school knew him or at least knew his name. The Sakamaki family, one of the most powerful families in Japan, all due to that man. His family name was the reason no one in school bothered him, not even the teachers. They all knew the power his family had over them, even the most powerful families and their children respected him and his five brothers. Girls practically threw themselves at him and his brothers, all wanting to be with a Sakamaki for their power. The boys were no different, all of them wanted to reap the benefits of being connected to him and his family due to their power and wealth. That was one of the reasons the music room became his room and was basically off limits to anyone else in the school. The entire student body from the first years to the third years knew that and never entered his domain. All except one.
Shu looked at the girl before him. She was...different. Different from all those girls who threw themselves at him, wanting him for his looks or wealth. The way she looked at him wasn't full of lust or greed, she really had no idea who he was. It was, different from what he was used to. Letting out a small sigh he opted to ignore her. She obviously didn't care what he said so why bother. Facing forward, he closed his eyes and let his mind wander off.
Tsubasa stared at him a confused look on her face. Sakamaki, was that an important name? Why did he look surprised at the fact that she didn't know his name? Did his name mean something? And now he was ignoring her, his eyes closed as he drifted off into sleep. The tension in the air was still there, albeit a lot less than it was a few minutes ago. Glancing at the clock mounted on the wall, Tsubasa inwardly groaned at the fact that there was still a good fifty minutes until class ended and she could venture out into the hallway. She looked over at the piano in longing before she looked back at the sleeping boy.
He was sleeping and she had so much time. Finalizing her decision, she quietly walked over to the piano before pulling the bench back so that she could sit. As she stared down at the piano before her, her fingers hovered over the keys as she mentally ran through the repotoire in her head. As a tune filled her head, she smiled before she opened her eyes and started to play.
He could hear the piano again. Shu didn't even need to open his eyes to know that the girl was playing. As the sad melody of Solveig's song filled the room, Shu relaxed in his seat. As much as the girl annoyed him, she was good at playing the piano, something he appreciated.
Suddenly, he heard a voice ringing throughout the room.
Shu's eyes snapped open at the sound that filled the room. He glanced over to see the girl playing the piano as she sang the lyrics. Her voice remained steady as she sang the high parts the melody required, her voice not even faltering at some of the highest notes while keeping a steady vibrato and tone. Shu could only watch her as she sang and played the piano at the same time without even faltering or pausing even once.
She was good, he gave her that much.
As the song came to an end, Tsubasa slowly opened her eyes as a smile formed on her face. It had been a while since she's played that particular song. Then she realized why she never played that certain piece. It was her mother's favorite. The sudden thought of the woman who left her with that monster left a bitter feeling in Tsubasa's mind. A frown appeared on her face as she dropped her hand from the piano to settle in her lap. The brunette stared down at her hands before she slowly reached over to the fabre egg sitting next to her. As her fingers traced over the intricate edging and shape of the egg shaped music box, her eyes darkened at the memory. Her mother had given it to her on her birthday. The birthday before she betrayed her and left her behind. She ran away with her lover a week later. It was the only thing she had of her mother that he didn't destroy. No matter how much she tried to throw the fabre egg away, something stopped her. She couldn't do it, no matter how much she hated that woman for what she did, she could never throw the fabre egg away. It calmed her, helped her forget the pain she went through under him and it helped her fall asleep on nights when the nightmares would haunt her. Silently, she opened the fabre egg and a small smile appeared on her face at the sound of her favorite tune filled her ears.
"Canon in D Major."
She was suddenly snapped out of her thoughts before she snapped the fabre egg closed before she turned around to see the only other person in the room staring at her. The silence filled air adding to the tension between the two before Shu looked ahead and closed his eyes again.
"You were bit off key on in the last chorus,"
Tsubasa stared at him with wide eyes once more, her hands clenched around the fabre egg. She thought he was asleep. He had even heard her sing. Warmth crept up on her face at the realization that he had heard her. While she always played piano and loved to do it in front of others, singing was one of the things she refused to do in front of others. It was just, too personal for her.
"You were listening?"
"I didn't have a choice, you were singing."
"I thought you were asleep!" she almost screamed, her face becoming redder each passing second. Shu's eyes remained on her as he inwardly smiled at her flustered expression.
"I was,"
Before Tsubasa could even come up with a comeback, the bell chimed signaling the end of the class period. Bolting up, she grabbed her things and without a second glance, ran out of the room her face still red from embarrassment.
...
A small stream of curses left her lips as she quickly walked towards the classroom. He aggravated her. He had heard her sing of all things! The one thing she never, never did in front of others. Taking a deep breath to calm down, she quickly opened the door only for silence to greet her. She didn't even need to look up to notice that everyone was looking at her. After all, she had skipped the first class period. Without a word, she walked over to her desk, her eyes looking down as she walked. She could already hear the snide remarks towards her.
The poor girl. The peasant. The scholar student. The outcast.
None of their words affected her. She had heard so much worse from him during the time she was locked away. The things he said, were something one should never have to hear. He had called her things and said things that reduced her to tears. Then the beatings came.
Tsubasa flinched at the memory before she quickly opened her bag to pull out the necessary things for the class period when she heard gasps and squeals around her. Confused, she looked up. When she saw the reason why everyone was gasping and squealing, the color drained from her face.
Standing at the doorway, was the blonde male she had just run away from.
...
He watched as the girl before him turned red at before she bolted out of the room. A minute smile formed on his face at her antics. She was, intriguing. That was all.
She was also human, beings who were so weak and would die in short time. A sad look passed his face as he remembered the last time he got close to a human. It had ended with the death of his only friend and nightmares and loneliness that haunted him for years.
Shu closed his eyes once again to sleep only realize that he was fully awake. A small complaint escaped his lips as he slowly sat up from the couch. Glancing at the clock mounted on the wall, blue eyes calculated how much longer there was of school.
Six hours. Six hours to kill. Glancing at the piano, Shu started to walk towards the black instrument when he paused before it. Her scent. The girl's scent from earlier surrounded the piano. The sweet scent of her lingered and Shu inwardly groaned.
He wouldn't be able to concentrate. With a small sigh, Shu slowly walked towards the door and opened it.
He had time to kill, might as well go to class.
He could already hear the whispers and gasps throughout the hallways as he walked towards his classroom. After all, in the months that he had been at this school, he had only been to class a handful of times, as he preferred to sleep in the music room than attend boring lectures where the teachers droned on and on for hours. Also, being a Sakamaki, the teacher couldn't say anything towards his skipping classes. They were all powerless under his family name.
When he reached the classroom, he paused at the doorway when he saw the head of a very familiar brunette sitting at the back. Making his way to his seat, Shu paused at the fact that the girl from before was sitting next to his empty desk. Without a word, he sat down and closed his eyes, blocking out the voices of his noisy classmates. He could feel her stare at him for a minute before he opened his eyes and glanced over to see her staring at her notebook, a small blush on her face as she refused to look at him. Her sweet scent filled his nostrils again and Shu closed his eyes once more as the bell rang, signaling the beginning of second period.
...
Tsubasa felt the her face heating up as she stared down at her notebook, willing for every muscle in her body to not look at the person sitting next to her. So he was the person who sat next to her.
Whenever she came to class, the seat next to hear, by the window was always empty. She had assumed that the person who sat there was sick or had left the school. She never would have expected that the blonde male from earlier would sit there. That meant that he was a first year, just like her. Tsubasa's eyes furrowed at the fact that the male from earlier was the same age as her.
A small sigh of relief passed her lips as the bell rang and second period began.
...
By the end of two class periods, she was exhausted. All throughout the class periods, everyone kept staring back at the corner where she sat, all because of the male sitting next to her. The blonde male kept his eyes closed the entire class period with his arms crossed in front of him. He wasn't even paying attention!
Now that class was over, almost every girl surrounded the blonde, speaking and giggling around him. Ignoring the squealing and giggling next to her, Tsubasa closed her eyes as a new melody entered her head. Taking a blank piece of composition paper. As she kept humming the melody in her head, she failed to realize the noise next to her had stopped. She suddenly stopped at the lack of noise before she turned her head to see at least twenty different pairs of eyes on her. A pair of ocean blue eyes locked onto hers before Tsubasa looked away while a faint blush filled her cheeks. She glanced back to see the other students looking at her with distaste.
"What are you looking at ugly?" one girl snapped to which Tsubasa ignored as she looked down at the composition paper before her. She closed her eyes to drown out the other's voices, when a sharp pain hit her. She let out a small gasp at the pain before she looked up to see one of the boys in her class pulling her hair and inspecting it. The boy looked from her to her hair before he leaned closer and sniffed it. He drew back with disgust before he threw her hair back at her face.
"You smell disgusting! What shampoo did you use? Dirt?" he sneered at her to which everyone laughed. Tsubasa ignored them once more, focusing her mind on the melody that was in her head. Her hand grasped her pencil only to have the composition paper she was writing on snatched away from her. Her head shot up to see one of the girls, staring at the piece of paper before her. The girl glanced through the sheet music before she threw it back at Tsubasa.
"My mom is famous musician, and she would have cried at this piece of garbage. You shouldn't even try."
Tsubasa flinched at her comment, the grip on her pencil tightening. She couldn't, no, she wouldn't react. It would only worsen the situation. She needed to ignore them. Glancing over at the clock mounted on the wall, she calculated that there were at least four and a half hours of school left. After that, she would be at the bar to closing. She would be playing again. A miniscule smile appeared on her face at the thought of being able to play again when she was suddenly snapped out of her revere when cold water hit her.
She gasped as she quickly stood and stared down at her now drenched clothes. Looking back up, she was met with the sneers and laughter. She saw the now empty bucket in one the boys hands before she glanced down and her eyes fell at the sight of the wet, ruined pieces of composition paper that had her work on it. As she stared down at it, her blood began to boil. She could still hear the laughter and the sneers of the other students before she quietly just gathered her things. But before she could finish packing, she was shoved back causing her to lose her balance and fall to the ground, scattering her things again. Looking up, she saw the cold stare of the people who were causing her misery.
"You don't belong here, this school is for the privileged, not the poor, leave before we make you leave."
Tsubasa remained silent as she gathered her things again. Her hands shook in anger and frustration. This was just like that time. This reminded her of how he treated her. Like dirt. He treated her as if she was below human, a monster, a piece of trash.
She had endured that for six hellish years. She came to this school to hide from him. she couldn't leave, even if she wanted to. Ryoutei Acadamey was the safest place for her to be. Standing up, Tsubasa held her bag tightly in her hand before she looked at the crowd before her.
"I'm not going to leave, you might as well stop trying," she stated before she walked out, ignoring all the comments and yells in the room afterwards. As she walked out, she felt a piercing gaze on her. Glancing back at the class, she saw the blonde male watching her with mild amusement before she ran out.
...
A small sob escaped her lips as she ran through the hallways ignoring who she bumped into. She ran without thinking, she just needed to get away. She didn't stop running until she was inside a room. Locking the door behind her, Tsubasa slid onto the ground , ignoring the fact that her clothes were wet and clinging to her like a second layer of skin. Pulling her knees up to her chest, Tsubasa stared down at the ground, trying her best to not cry.
She wouldn't, no, she couldn't break now. She needed to get things together.
"You're annoying."
Tsubasa snapped up when she heard the other voice in the room before she looked around. She froze at the sight of the blonde haired blue eyed boy from earlier laying on the couch in the other side of the room. She whirled around before she let out a desperate laugh when she realized that she had unconsciously ran to the music room. Turning back around, she was met by the cold, stare of the male before her. She looked away, as she pulled her knees closer to her body.
Shu stared at the girl before him in silence. She was soaked through, her uniform sticking to her skin. She looked like she was going to cry. Closing his eyes once again, Shu faced forward to sleep when he heard movement from the doorway. He slightly turned his head to see the girl slowly making her way to the piano, her body shivering from the cold as she made her way to the piano.
Once she was situated at the piano, Tsubasa stared down at her hands. They were shaking, not just from being cold, but the frustration and anger. She didn't deserve any of this. Pushing back all the negative thoughts from her head, she placed her hands over the ivory keys as she mentally sang a melody in her head. Her body moved with the music she started playing, her eyes closing as she poured herself into the piece she was playing.
Shu opened his eyes when he heard the music, his eyes snapping open before he looked over. He could see the girl moving as she played, her entire body into the playing process.
She was playing an original. Interesting. Instead of going back to sleep, he turned his head, his blue eyes never leaving her figure. He watched her play, her music portraying her emotions. The way she played, how she played with a G minor with diminshed chords, the crescendos and decresendos
She was crying. Not literally, but she was using the piano to pour out her emotions. Her body shook as she played, but her fingers remained strong as she continued to play, the piece turning darker and darker with each passing second. She was forcing herself.
...
At the last chord, Tsubasa let out the breath she was holding, her hand falling limp at her side. She let her had hit the piano, her breaths coming out in a shaky pattern. Tears threatened to fall down her face again. She had played with everything in her, the anger and frustration towards her classmates. They were tormenting her all because she was a scholarship student.
If they only knew. If they only knew her true name, they would never dare to oppose her. Tsubasa froze at the thought. For a split second, she thought about the place she had left behind. His place. The mansion that held her prisoner for so long. The one place and the one person she never ever wanted to see again in her life. The man who tortured her, all becuase her mother left them.
Tsubasa gritted her teeth, her eyes falling at the memories of that place. The only way he was able to get away with the horrors of his actions was all because of the power and money he held. No one dared to oppose him, except a select elite in the government.
She had even changed her hair color and name to escape, but now, because of a little bit of teasing from her classmates, she was thinking about his name and wealth. For a split second, she was thinking of the name and so called family she escaped from. All because of some teasing and tormenting.
Fear and desperation filled her again. The memories, memories of six long years. The beatings, the isolation, the loneliness. All of it came back to her in that split second. The memories and life she was trying so hard to forget and to run away from, all if ricocheted back to her. Tsubasa's entire body shook at the memory, as the tears she tried to hold back spilled down her face. She siilently cried in front of the piano, her hands clasping together before her tightly. She cried for everything. The fear and the anguish of her situation and her past.
Even after escaping, and successfully setting up a new life, she still couldn't be free.
Well? What did you guys think?
