Third Person POV
"Steve, stop! I have to do this on my own! I understand what he is dealing with! The only way I can bring him in is if I do it on my own!" Kas yelled at Steve.
"Kas, he's my best friend! I should be able to help my best friend, and you just died! Let me go with you! Let me help you! I can't stand to think that I might lose you again!" Steve yelled back.
Kas' face softened at his words and any of the frustration she felt was gone as she spoke, "Baby, I'm not going to disappear again and I sure as hell am not going to die again. I missed you those three months I was gone and I could barely sleep. Yours and the triplets safety is why I left because I knew with Aeron's disappearance y'all would be in even more danger. I have to do this on my own because I am the only one that can reach him. He needs a non-threatening face that he believes he can trust for him to come in. It doesn't get much more non-threatening with my size and cheery smile. I will come back to you. I always will."
Steve sighed and nodded knowing she was right. He slowly walked over to her and enveloped her in his arms. Her arms wrapped around his waist as her head was nuzzled into his chest. She breathed in his scent that she had missed for three months and felt a little empty as she pulled away to get dressed for her mission. She pulled on her black skinny jeans, a white tank top, her black lettermen jacket, her black beanie, and her black high top chucks. As Kas walked out of her and Steve's walk-in closet in their apartment in the new Avengers head quarters Natasha walked into Kas and Steve's apartment.
"Are you sure you want to go in alone? He almost killed Steve, Director Fury, Sam, and I the last time we saw him" Natasha spoke.
"I know what I'm doing Nat. I'm aware of the risks, but I understand where Bucky is at mentally because I've been there. Y'all were a mission the last time you saw him, but now he's on his own and is just trying to survive. Don't worry I'm not going to disappear for three months again and die, but be brought back. I'm coming home without the help of others and I'm bringing a good man that has been forced to do bad things in" Kas smiled knowing that everyone was worried about her going up against Bucky.
"There's nothing we can do to change your mind is there?" Tony asked walking in.
"Nope" Kas smirked grabbing her cell off the table and sliding it in her pocket.
"Don't try and change her mind. She knows what she's doing" Steve spoke as he played in the living room with the triplets.
"Bye, babies, Mama will be home soon" Kas whispered kissing each of her kids foreheads and then turned to Steve, "Bye, Darlin'."
"Bye, Baby Girl. See you for dinner" Steve smiled kissing her on the lips and hugging her before she left.
Kas walked out of the apartment and down to the basement garage where all of the vehicles where. She desperately wanted to ride one of the motorcycles but she decided it would be better if she took Dominick's truck instead. As she sped out of the garage she prayed she was doing the right thing by not taking backup or even informing the director that she was bringing Bucky in. As she zoomed down the country road that led back into the city her speakers blasted heavy metal music and she focused on calming the powers within her.
She felt nervous as she stopped in front of the warehouse he was hiding out in, but she knew she had to do it because not only did Steve need him, but there were people coming after him. She felt the snow crunch beneath her feet as she landed softly on the ground. She silently crept through the warehouse in search of Bucky until she found him in the north corner pounding against a punching bag like Steve. He was shorter than Steve and leaner, but Kas could see the strength his body held as his muscles flexed and relaxed with each move. Bucky had jeans on that hung low on his waist, Nike's on his feet and a maroon hooded long sleeve shirt sat on a bench a few feet away from him. His hair had gotten longer since the pictures of him were taken when Steve was his mission, but he had it pulled back into a neat military bun and the base of his head telling Kas that his military training still remained intact.
"Are you going to keep pounding on that bag and pretending I'm not here or are you going to speak to me?" Kas questioned from the shadows.
"I was waiting to see if you were here to try and kill me" Bucky replied in a gruff voice.
"I'm here as a friend who understands fully what you've gone through. I'm here to bring you in as a part of the team" she spoke stepping into the circle of light he was standing in.
"How did you find me?" Bucky asked still not facing her.
"I have... abilities" Kas replied carefully choosing her words.
"Are they good enough to protect you from me?" Bucky questioned.
"Why don't you find out for yourself?" Kas challenged knowing that this was the only real way for him to trust her.
In one swift movement Bucky spun around and threw a dagger at Kas' head. She threw up a force field millimeters from her face and stopped the blade and sent it into a post to her left. Bucky came flying at her ready to punch her in the face. Just seconds before his fist could make impact with her right eye she swerved her head to the left and smashed her forehead into Bucky's nose. He stumbled back a step giving Kas the opportunity to sweep his feet out from under him and pin him down with her legs.
"I promised Steve I wouldn't hurt you" Kas grunted as Bucky struggled.
Bucky ignored her comment and rolled her underneath him with his legs holding down her arms. Kas smirked knowing he made a big mistake as she whipped her legs up and around his neck thus putting him in a choke hold he couldn't easily get out of. Before he would have passed out he tapped his surrender to her and she let go.
"Who trained you?" Bucky asked after he'd fully recovered.
"Myself. I had to learn pretty quickly as a kid since I have Godly blood in me and monsters come after me all the time. I've also had to fight off a lot of individuals that have wanted to kill me as well" Kas replied quietly pulling her phone out of her back pocket at looked at the lock screen that was Steve and the triplets.
"Steve has kids?" Bucky asked seeing the picture.
"They're going to be his step-kids. Their mine" She smiled shyly.
"So you and Steve are going to get married then, I take it" Bucky smiled thinking of his friend becoming a husband and a father.
"Yeah, but everything kind of got put on hold these past three months since I disappeared, died, and then was brought back" Kas chuckled.
"Well obviously you weren't dead dead then if you're here and kicking some serious ass" Bucky smirked.
"You would think, but the bastard stabbed me through the heart. The poor ticker was ripped to shreds" Kas replied as they walked through the warehouse after Bucky had grabbed all his things.
"Then how are you alive?" Bucky exclaimed.
"Zeus hit me with a lightening bolt that conveniently eradicated the vampire in me that had been reactived for good but now the werewolf in me will never go away" she explained.
"Demigod werewolf? Interesting combination" Bucky quipped.
"Aphrodite is my mother, Loki is my father, I'm a werewolf, I have wings that I can also use as weapons, I'm prophesied to rule all nine realms and there will be great peace. I don't know about the prophesy but yeah" Kas spoke truthfully as she turned on the truck and started driving back to the headquarters.
"Wow then you must be extremely smart and talented" Bucky commented as he watched the outskirts of the city disappear and the forest and fields replacing it.
"I guess" Kas replied casually.
"How much longer until we're there?" Bucky asked after awhile.
"We're actually almost there" Kas smiled as they came over the last hill and the new base came into view.
"They built new headquarters this quickly? The Ultron situation happened like a month and a half ago" Bucky whispered in awe.
"It was actually right after I disappeared so three months ago. Tony had this place and others similar to it built awhile ago in case The Tower was compromised. We're actually in the midst of rebuilding The tower and turning this into a training facility for new recruits" Kas explained.
"You were gone for what? A week? And Tony creates a computer program that put itself into a destroyed suit and almost causes mass extinction. I think its safe to say you shouldn't disappear like that again" Bucky smirked as they pulled up to the gate and Kas showed the guard her ID.
"I see you found him, Kassandra. Would you like me to inform Director Fury that you have brought in The Winter Soldier?" Vision's voice spoke interrupting Kas' rap music.
"Yes and inform him that Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes is a friend and no longer a foe as well" Kas replied.
"Yes ma'am" Vision replied.
"You can stay with Steve and I in our quarters. We've got so many rooms it's ridiculous" Kas spoke as she took Bucky's things after she had parked the truck.
"Yes ma'am," Bucky smiled, "Question, why do you have so many rooms?"
"I have two foster brothers that stay with me when they come to visit and then when the triplets get older Adara is getting her own room, but even then we've got three other rooms. I think it's Tony's way of saying he wants Steve and I to have kids of our own even though I already have three" Kas explained as they weaved through the halls towards her and Steve's place.
"Wow this place is a lot bigger than I thought it was" Bucky murmured as they walked through the base.
"Yeah it is," Kas smiled as she opened a door with the names: Captain America and Mystic Angel; "Steve guess who I found?"
"Bucky!" Steve exclaimed as he rounded the corner from the kids room.
The smiles on their faces said everything as they clasped each other in a hug. Kas grinned as she stepped around them with Bucky's bags and took them to one of the extra rooms that had a bathroom so that he wouldn't have to share one with the kids and her brothers. After putting his stuff in the room Kas walked into the triplets nursery to find them all asleep. They looked so peaceful Kas wished they could stay like this forever, but when they get older and their powers start developing they will be just as if not more powerful than her. However, there is the chance that they won't have any powers because Kas and Dom were so powerful. Kas smiled as she kissed each of her children's foreheads and walked back to the living room where Steve and Bucky still were.
"Angel you have an incoming video conference from the Director" Friday, the new AI spoke from the intercom in the kitchen.
"Sound proof the triplets room and bring it up on the fridge" I replied knowing that he was going to try and give me shit for not informing him of this mission.
"Director...Coulson? I thought you were dead!" Kas exclaimed as she looked up to see Agent Phil Coulson instead of Director Nick Fury.
"We can thank Fury for me being alive. I see you brought in The Winter Soldier. How did you do that?" Coulson asked.
"Wait I'm confused. Where is Director Fury?" Kas asked.
"I'm here Kas, but Coulson is the new Director. I'm just behind the scenes now" Fury smirked stepping into view.
"Alright, well to answer your question Coulson. I proved to him that I'm not a threat and that I'm a friend who understands what he's been through" Kas spoke.
"So you fought him, but refrained from using any of your powers and proved even without them you can take him out?" Coulson smirked showing me that he remembered what I am capable of.
"That and I also mentioned that I promised Steve I wouldn't hurt him" I smirked back.
"Are you sure he's no longer a threat?" Coulson asked just as Adara started to cry.
"Hold on, Director, Adara just woke up" I spoke slipping off the counter to get Adara so Steve and Bucky could keep catching up.
"I've got her!" Bucky exclaimed getting up to get Adara so I didn't have to stop my meeting.
"You don't have to do that Bucky. I can get her!" I spoke trying to walk from my spot.
"No I've got her. She is my niece anyways" Bucky smiled jogging towards the triplets room.
"If he was a threat he wouldn't be helping take care of the triplets now would he?" I spoke cocking my eyebrow at both men.
"I see your point, but I trust that if something happens you will take care of it" Coulson spoke.
"Yes Sir" I replied.
"Also, Kas, remember not only are you an Avenger but an Agent of SHIELD. So the next time you go on a mission make sure you inform me of it" Coulson reprimanded me.
"Yes Sir" I smiled shaking my head and disconnecting the video.
As I turned around I was greeted by the giggles of the triplets in the living room where Steve and Bucky were playing with them. Kas silently pulled her phone out of her pocket and snapped a picture of the guys playing with the kids and sent it to Rach with the caption: What you're missing while deployed. She smiled as she watched them play with the now six month old triplets that were trying to walk and kept falling all over Steve and Bucky. She could tell bringing Bucky in was the wise decision even with the people that were after him because not only could they all work together to get rid of the threat, but they were now more of a family. As she glanced at the time she figured she should start making dinner for all of them since TJ and Marshal were going to be here in an hour.
"Wow! No you don't! I'm making dinner tonight!" Steve exclaimed hopping up from his spot on the floor.
"It's not just going to be just the three of us tonight. The whole team and TJ and Marshal are eating with us. Are you sure you want to make that much food?" Kas asked Steve.
"I've had steaks marinating all day and I am more than ready to make that much food" Steve smirked stepping into the kitchen.
"Fine!" Kas smirked getting an idea, "Hey, Bucky, how about we cut that hair of yours? You're starting to look a bit like Loki and Thor."
"Sure, but what about the triplets?" Bucky asked standing up with all three of them in his arms.
"I've got a playpen they can be in while I cut your hair. When I come home from missions they don't really like when they can't see me so Steve and I always have one on hand" Kas smiled taking Adrien in her arms and he instinctively clutched onto her necklace that held the ring their father had given her when he asked her to marry him.
Kas smiled sadly as she looked at Adrien. The more he grew the more he looked like his father and it made her miss him more, but she knew that he wanted her to be with Steve and that Steve would make an amazing father figure to them. One day they would have a child of their own and the triplets would love him or her just as much as they love her, Steve, and each other.
"He reminds you of him doesn't he?" Bucky asked as they walked into her and Steve's bathroom.
"He looks just like Dominick and I have a strong feeling he will be just like him as well in every aspect" Kas replied setting Adrien down in the playpen that was already out.
"Steve told me about him while you were talking to The Director. He sounds like a very good man" Bucky said setting Adara and Alex down as well.
"Thank you. He was a very good man. He cared about everyone so much and didn't care if he was putting himself in danger as long as we were safe. When we found out I was pregnant he was so excited and no matter what he would jump to get whatever I needed even if I insisted I could get it myself. That's what he was doing the night he died" Kas replied sadly.
"From what I heard it was a total accident that could have happened to anyone" Bucky stated reassuringly.
"Yeah I know. I still feel partly responsible for it, but I know Dom would be so frustrated with me if I kept blaming myself" Kas smiled imagining Dom just looking at her with his 'knock it off' look as she pulled out the scissors.
"You just imagined him giving you a disapproving look didn't you?"
"Yeah I did and I should know it pretty well since he gave it to me so often. So I was thinking about keeping your hair relatively still long but a lot cleaner looking" Kas chuckled.
"Sounds good to me" Bucky smiled pulling his shirt off so that hair wouldn't get in it and then set it on the counter before Kas put a cape around him.
She started off by putting it all into a pony tail at the base of his skull and cut just above the tie. She placed the freshly cut hair on the counter and went to cutting the rest of it in sections so that it looked cleaner, but he would still be able to put it up if he wanted to. After she went through and made sure everything was even she stepped back satisfied with her work.
"Done" Kas smiled as she heard the front door open and people come in.
"Wow! And you didn all that while my hair was dry! You're amazing!" Bucky exclaimed after Kas took the cape off and stood up.
"Eh it was nothing," Kas smiled walking out of the bathroom into the closet to change out of her mission clothes into clothes for dinner, "You might want to change for dinner."
A couple seconds later she walked out in a cute blue half sleeve skater dress and matching heels as she pulled her hair into a ballerina bun. She had slipped her glasses onto her face and looked like she was in her mid twenties instead of barely being twenty-one.
"For a woman you get ready pretty quickly" Bucky commented as she took the triplets from him.
"It helps that Steve had it laid out for me" Kas smirked as she walked out to the living room where everyone was.
"Ah that makes sense" Bucky smiled as he slipped off down the hall towards his room to grab a quick shower and then get dressed for dinner.
"Wow, Kas three months did you good" Skye smiled from the sofa.
"Well I was hiding so the only thing I really had to do was to workout pretty much all day" Kas laughed.
"So how did it feel to die?" Jemma asked.
"Not awesome, but also not a first" Kas smirked, but it held a bit of sadness in it.
"So Kas when were you going to tell me you found Ward when you disappeared?" Coulson asked walking into the living room from the patio where Steve and the rest of the guys were drinking beer and grilling.
"I wasn't until I broke him. When were you going to thank me for stopping a war with the inhumans and recovering Jemma from the Kree weapon?" Kas challenged with a raised eyebrow.
"Point taken" Coulson smirked.
As Kas was going to reply a knock came from the front door causing her to get up to answer it since it was the door to the outside and not the inside of the base. She didn't check the security camera, so she was completely surprised when she opened the door and Rach was standing outside with her team. A huge smile spread across Kas' face as she squealed and threw her arms around her best friend who had gotten orders for deployment right after she went into hiding. Rach chuckled as she wrapped her arms around Kas and rocked her back and forth. As she looked over the men that Rachael was leading her eyes fell on a friend she thought she would never see again: Ned Cano, a tall Honduran guy, with an amazing voice, and amazing football talent.
"Ned!" Kas yelled running and jumping into his arms as she hugged him.
"Hey, Kas" Ned smiled into her neck as he held her in his arms since she wouldn't let go of him and had her legs wrapped around his waist.
"Come on in, so I can introduce you to everyone" Rachael smiled as she walked into the 'house' and into the living room where the girls were with the triplets.
"Rach!" Alex and Skye yelled when they saw her come in and jumped up to hug her.
"Hey, guys," Rachael smiled as she hugged them, "Alright, guys this is my team, Chris, Sebastian, Paul, Tom, Nathan, and Ned. Boys these are the women behind some major operations. Skye, Jemma, Bobbie, Darcy, Maria and Melinda of S.H.I.E.L.D., Lady Sif of Asgard, Natasha, Evie, Alex, Wanda, and you've already met Kas, of the Avengers. And last but not least, the triplets, Adrian, Alexander, and Adara, Kas' and Dominick's children. Gods rest his soul."
Kas still hadn't let go of Ned when Steve and the guys came in with the steaks and the look of confusion on all but Steve's faces were priceless. Steve smiled knowing the whole time that Rachael and her were coming home and that Ned was a part of her team. He'd set the whole thing up because he could tell that Kas was really missing the friends she had before high school.
"Guys meet Rachael's team, Chris, Sebastian, Paul, Tom, Nathan, and Ned; one of Kas' childhood best friends that just so happens to be on Rachael's team. Mean meet Nick Fury, Director Coulson, Mack, Hunter, Lincoln, Mike, Ian, and Leo of S.H.I.E.L.D., T.J., Kas' older brother and player for the Giants, Marshal, Kas and T.J.'s younger brother and member of the X-Men, Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg, the Warriors Three, Bucky, Thor, Loki, Tony, Clint, Sam, Bruce, Scott, Peter, and David of the Avengers. Also Loki is Kas' father and Thor is her Uncle" Steve smiled as he introduced everyone.
