Ch.23 Coma; Finding the attacker
Seven hours! Seven LONG anganzing hours of waiting to hear about Leo's condition. Raph, April, and Splinter are all in the waiting room. When Splinter got the news on his son, he nearly fainted. If it wasn't for Raph and Donnie being there he would have.
Donnie is with them also but he's busy hacking the seceretiy camera's from around the cemntary. Donnie's been working non-stop on finding the culprit. He was upset about everything just as the others are.
Raph sat there with his head in hands praying to God that Leo will be okay. He doesn't know what he'll do if anything happend to Leo. He's already lost so much. He can't lose the person he loves.
Raph looked to his right to watch Splinter and April. They were hugging each other as if they're lives depended on it. Splinter was shaking while April was crying and shaking.
It broke it Raph's heart to see them. He closed his eyes tightly and looked back down.
Finally after an hour the doctor came in.
"Are you the ones that brought in Leonardo Hamato?" The docotor asked as he walked in front of us.
We all jumped, to listen to what the doctor's news about Leo. We're all afraid of what they'll say.
"How's my son Dr. Johnson? I-Is he okay?" Splinnter asked in a frighted voice as he stood in front of the doctor.
"He's very lucky . He'll live but he has a few broken ribs, and he sprained his left wrist. But...there is a minor problem that we need to keep an eye on though." Dr. Johnson said with sad voice that made everyone cringe.
"W-What's wrong? Tell us!" Raph yelled in anger.
Splinter put his hand on Raph's shoulder which made him calm down a bit but not a lot.
"Raphael. I know your upset. We all are. Please let Dr. Johnson tell us." Splinter said with a shaken voice that made Raph take a deep breath to calm his temper.
"Sorry Doc...Ya were sayin'?" Raph asked after he took a deep breath.
"It's alright son. I understand. The problem is that young Leonardo has a concusion. He was hit pretty hard in the head which could have caused some brain damage but we're not 100% sure he has it. But we believe he has a low chance of having that. He's brain scan came out well and we'll know more later. But we do know that...he's in a coma...and we don't know when he'll wake up." Dr. Johnson said softly to us.
When we all heard the word 'coma', it felt like we were drowing. April feel to her knees crying, Splinter began tearing up, and while I shake in anger at the people who did this.
"What do ya mean a coma?! Ya just said he has a low chance of having brain damange! Why is he in a coma?!" Raph yelled in anger which didn't surprise the doctor.
"We believe he's in coma because of shock. When something happens to anyone there minds could either go blank, or think irrationally thoughts. For Leonardo he must of been in so much shock of his sister being in danger must of override his brain into shock and it made it even worse when the car hit him." Dr. Johnson said calmly to Raphael.
Raph took a deep breath to calm his anger. He walked away from the Dr. and punched the wall which almost left a dent in to which shocked the Doctors and nurses.
"DAMMIT! WHEN I GET MY HANDS ON THOSE ASSHOLES!" Raph yelled in anger and went to Donnie to see if he made any progress on finding Leo's attacker.
Dr. Johnson watched Raph walked toward the other turtle he assumbed to be his brother. He sighed and looked at his patients father. Splinter is shaking so much he looks as if he'll fall any minute.
"Mr. Hamato I assure you; my staff and I are going to do everything in our power to help your son wake up. He's going to be fine as long as he's kept under watch. Please rest your mind." Dr. Johnson said as he lead Splinter to sit down.
Donnie sighs when can't find anything. He feels gulity that he can't find Leo's attackers. Raph see's Donnie upset and calms himself down.
"Donnie go comfort April...Ya can look fer them scumbags later." Raph said as he rubs Donnie's back.
Donnie nodded his head and walked toward April to help her off the floor to a chair beside Splinter.
"It should of been me..." April says softly that we almost didn't hear her. Donnie snaps his head so quick Raph thought he'll lose his head.
"Don't ever say that April! Leo wouldn't want to hear you say that. If we all know Leo, he'll do it again." Donnie yelled not liking the way he's girlfriend's talking.
"BUT IT'S MY FAULT HE'S IN THERE! THEY WERE AIMING AT ME AND LEO PUSHED ME AWAY!" April yelled at the top of her lungs that made everyone around her worried about the situation she's in.
"DON'T SAY THAT APRIL!" Splinter yelled which surprised everyone. He's been a bit quiet but hearing he's second child say it's her fault broke his heart.
"Daddy..." April whispered as she looked at her father with teary eyes. She can't stop shaking and crying even with Donnie comforting her.
"Do not blame yourself my daughter. It is no one's fault. The only person we should blame is the Foot Gang. Their the cause of this madness. If I know Leonardo April...he would save you again because he loves you. I would aslo do the same for you and Leonardo both. So hold your tears and stay strong for your brother. He needs us." Splinter said with so much passion it made April and everyone look at him with wide eyes.
Raph took a deep breath to calm his anger. Splinter is right; sheeding tears, and yelling would slove anything. They have to stay strong for him and that's what Raph is going to do.
April wipped away her tears and gave her father a little smile.
"O-Okay daddy. I'll be strong for Leo...I'm sorry and thank you. And...thank you Donnie." April said as she turned from her father to look at Donnie.
Donnie gave her a little smile and blush as he rubbed behind his neck. She gave him a kiss on the cheek that made him blush even more which made Raph smile softly at them. It aslo made him miss Leo even more.
"Ay Doc...Can...Can we see Leo..?" Raph asked the doctor softly. The doctor looked at Raph and gave him a little smile.
"Of course son, he's in room 124." Dr. Johnson said with a soft voice.
Raph nodded and looked at Splinter asking permimison with his eyes to see Leo first. Splinter nodded with a small smile of his own. Raph gave one back and went to the room where his love is at.
Splinter watched Raph walked toward the room where his son is at. He wanted to see him, but he knew Raph needed to see him first.
"Donnie...I'm fine now, go figure out who hurt my brother...please." April said softly which made Splinter turn around to look at April and Donnie.
"You sure your okay April?" Donnie asked rubbing her cheek which made her smile a bit.
"Yeah I'll be okay...Just find the jeark that did this to my big brother." April said with determenation in her voice.
Donnie's face became serious.
"With pleasure." Donnie said as he gave April a kiss on her forehead as he got up to find the man that hurt Leo.
"What do you think Raph will do when he finds out who did this Leo daddy?" April said as she watched her father sat beside her.
Splinter wrapped his left arm around April's shoulder and she leand agasint his shoulder.
"I do not know my child...But I do know that Raph will show no mercy to the person that has hurt Leo." Splinter said thinking about his son.
April said nothing as she watched the front desk. She's thinking about all the times her and Leo spent time together. She hopes he'll wake up soon...
*Room 124 Raph and Leo*
Raph opens the door very slowly as he enters his boyfriends room. Raph gasped as he see's Leo laying there on the medical bed. Machines hooked up to him, cast on his left arm and there's bandages wrapped around his head.
Raph clenched his fist in anger and slowly walked over to Leo. When he got to his bed he gasped soflty as he looked at his loves face. He was so pale, and tired. He looks so different then what he usually looks like.
Raph got a chair and brought to Leo's bed and held his right hand softly and gave his knuckles a few kisses.
"Leo...Babe if ya can hear me...I'll make them pay...I won't let them get away for what they did to you. Ya ain't suppose ta be here baby...yer supposed ta be smiling, laughing, and hangin' out with yer sister. Dammit! Leo open yer eyes! Please!" Raph nearly yelled squezzing Leo's hand tightly trying his hardest not to cry.
Raph lowers his head shaking a little bit with anger and saddness then he felt Leo's hand tighten around his which made him gasp and looked up quickly with widen eyes. Leo is still asleep but Raph can still feel him squeezing his hand as hard as he can.
Raph smiled sadly at Leo feeling some tears gather up in his eyes.
"Heh...Even in a coma...yer still trying ta calm me down. Yer amazin' babe. Don't know how I got so lucky to get have ya in my life." Raph said giving Leo a kiss on the knuckles again.
Leo squezzed his hand again and Raph chuckled at that.
"Yer probley telling me not ta talk like that huh? Heh...Well...I'm glad ya can hear me...that gives me more hope...Yer pop and sis are gonna be happy."
Leo squezzed again tightly and somewhat shaking. Raph had a feeling he's worried about his sister.
"April is fine Leo. Ya saved her from being hurt. She has only a few scraches so ya keep yer mind at peace and rest...so you can wake up sooner and so I can see yer beautiful eyes again." Raph said as he rubbed Leo's cheek and gave him a kiss on the forehead.
Leo lightly squezzed Raph's hand and Raph just smiled at him.
Raph sat back down and just rubbed Leo's hand and was telling Leo aobut what they'll do when he get's better. He's been getting some light and tighten squezzes from Leo which only made him smile.
Raph heard a knock and Splinter, April and Donnie came. April nearly ran to her brother and she nearly cried but she held it in. She's gonna be strong for her big brother.
"I have some good news for ya'll." Raph said making everyone look at him.
"He can hear us. I was talkin' ta him while holdin' his hand and he squezzed it. He's tellin' me not ta worry. So don't worry...I have a feelin' he's gonna wake up soon." Raph said rubbing Leo's cheek softly.
Everyone just gasped and smiled. Splinter and April has tears of happines in their eyes. Raph moved away so Splinter and April can talk to Leo. Raph made his way to stand next to Donnie as he watched them.
"I found him." Donnie said in a whisper that made Raph turn his head away from the Hamato's to his brother his face serious now.
"Let's talk outside...I don't want Leo ta hear any of this." Raph said in a serious voice as he looked back at Leo. Donnie nodded.
Raph walked toward Leo to give him a kiss on the forehead.
"I'll be back later babe...ya get some rest." Raph whispered and walked away from him to leave the room with Donnie.
Raph and Donnie walked away from the room to go outside and sat on the bench. Donnie brought out his laptop and began uploading the security camera from Leo's accident.
"There's a reason why the cops were unable to find the footage. It's been removed from the secruity camera. Someone really didn't want it to be found out but they made the mistake not checking the back up footage on the camera much to our luck. So I found it." Donnie said as he uploaded the footage and they saw Leo get run over by a black and red car which made Raph growl in anger and Donnie winced.
"R-Right here you can see his face. I was able to zoom into the drivers side and get a closer look at his face and here he is..." Donnie said as a picture came up clear.
It showed a picture of a Japansese man that has a scar across his right eye, spiky hair, and a cold look to his eyes and a smirk on his face when he hit Leo which made Raph angeier.
"Who the hell is this fucker?!" Raph asked in anger.
"It took me a bit to figure out who he is but I found out that he is Oroku Saki's nephew. He's name is Oroku Kento. He's third in command next to Shredder's daughter. He's ruthless, cruel, and will do anything for his uncle. He practily raised him since he lost his parents. I was able to get his licesne plate; which is NYC-187. I got our boys looking for him and follwing him. We're gonna get him Raph. Our boys are keeping a close eye on him. We're gonna learn his weakness, his hang outs, his hobbies, everything. You just give the word and the boys will bring him in. But I think we should learn his weakness so you can use it agasit him." Donnie said giving Raph a serious look.
Raph stood up with a growl and walked back in forth. He knew Donnie was right. The best stragey is for them to see his weakness and use it agasit him and he will.
Raph gave a big sigh.
"Yer right little brother...We need ta wait and see his weakness. And when we do...we're gonna destroy it in front of him. I'd like ta see how he feels when something or somoene he loves is getting punshied. Tell tha boys ta keep on'im but ta stay outta sight. Find his weakness and let me know about it. Also get our two toughest guys here ta graud Leo. I don't want none of them Foot scums comin' even an inch near Leo. Ya got me Donnie?" Raph said in a serious voice.
"You got it boss. I'll call let them know now." Donnie said getting his phone out and making some calls to their boys. Raph looked into the sky which began to get cloudy and gloomy. A calm before the storm just how Raph is feeling now.
"Ya made a huge mistake Kento...now yer gonna pay...big time!"
