Chapter 20

Elliot

Three days later after going through their master plan to separate Ziva and Draco, Jade and Elliot were walking back up to their room from breakfast. Ziva hadn't woken up. She never did on Saturday and Sunday. She preferred to sleep in. Jade and Elliot went because they could talk to Seamus and Neville. Elliot didn't care what anyone said, Neville was a sweetheart, and she saw the potential he had, even if he didn't see it himself.

When the girls reached their room, they found Ziva sitting in the windowsill, looking stoic and watching the ongoing thunderstorm that was pounding the glass with massive raindrops.

"Ziva? Are you okay?" Ellie asked gently.

Her friend didn't look at them when she responded, "He didn't show last night. I waited for three hours… hoping. It didn't happen. It's over between us."

At first glance, Ziva sounded very accepting of it, as if she would be able to move on from it. However, upon closer inspection, Elliot realized with horror that her friend was struggling to keep tears at bay. She'd never seen Ziva cry in her life, not even when Ziva's leg had been snapped in two because of the idiots Pike and Zabini. She hadn't cried when her first dog died (although Ziva told them she had cried).

"Show him what he's missing out on," Jade stated firmly, walking over to her friend. Ziva gave her a small smile. Elliot and Jade hugged her. "Let's get you looking gorgeous and at lunch, you're going to give him a heart attack and kill they guy, all right?"

Ziva nodded, not giving up much of a fight. That was totally unlike her. A pang of guilt tore through Elliot, if only briefly. She hated seeing her friend like this, so upset over a single guy. Had she seriously liked Malfoy that much? Was it even possible for that to happen between a Slytherin and a Gryffindor? Maybe between a normal Slytherin and another house, but Malfoy wasn't your typical, sneering, pompous Slytherin. He led that house since he was a first year. People listened to him. And Ziva wasn't your typical Gryffindor. She had already been through multiple duels between Death Eaters, among other things. How could the two of them, with such different morals and backgrounds and beliefs, actually fall in love with each other?

"Come on. Elliot will do you hair and I'll do your makeup, how about that?" Jade offered.

"Can I sleep a little first?" Ziva queried. "I didn't get much last night. I was awake when you left this morning, I just wasn't up to saying anything."

"I don't blame you. Yeah, get some sleep. We'll wake you up in an a couple hours, enough time for us to give you your makeover before lunch," Ellie replied.

"Thank you. You're the best friends a girl could ask for," Ziva declared with a smile. Another shot of guilt crept into Elliot's heart. Ziva had too much faith in people sometimes…

Jade and Ellie left the room, leaving their friend alone. The two headed downstairs to the Common Room where they took the table next to the window. They glanced out at the raging storm.

"Do you think what we did was right?" Jade inquired softly.

"We had to. He was a bad influence on her," Ellie answered, trying to make sure no one overheard their conversation.

"True. I didn't think she'd be so upset over it though. Did you see the look on her face?"

"Unfortunately… I didn't want to. And I didn't think she'd be so upset either. If anyone asks what's wrong, we'll just tell them she's just really stressed with keeping up her grades so she can become an Auror. It makes sense. They all know how obsessed Ziva is with keeping perfect grades."

"Deal. We'll tell her that when we wake her up."

Ziva

After talking with Jade and Elliot, it was easier for Ziva to fall asleep. She didn't toss and turn so much, nor did she have a lot of nightmares. Her heart ached, knowing that her relationship with Draco was over. She hated the idea of it. She'd fallen hard for him. He'd shown a side of him to her that no one else got to see. If that wasn't enough of a reason to believe him when he said he'd never stop coming to their meetings, Ziva didn't know what was.

An hour before lunch, Jade and Elliot woke her up. They dragged her to the bathroom where they started doing her hair and makeup. Elliot gave Ziva's hair big, wavy curls and made sure not even a baby hair was out of place. Jade made the makeup look very natural yet striking. Ziva stared at herself, trying to force her eyes not to look so puffy from all the crying she'd been doing.

"You look gorgeous. Now let's go knock a Slytherin off his feet, shall we?" Elliot grinned. Ziva gave her a forced smile back. She didn't want to see Draco. If she did, she didn't know what she would do. Ziva didn't know if she'd blow him off, cry, or chew him out. The first would be the easiest to do, the second would most likely happen, the third would make her feel a hell of a lot better because she knew all the stuff to say that would hurt him to the point that equaled how much he had hurt her by not showing up last night. Of course, to save her reputation, she wouldn't chew him out in front of everyone in the Great Hall. She'd have to wait until it was only him and only her (possibly with Jade and Elliot with her) to do so.

The girls headed downstairs. They were late going down to lunch so there was no one on the stairwells. Whether it lucky or unlucky, they came across Malfoy heading… somewhere when they reached the entrance to the Great Staircase.

Draco

Upon seeing her, Malfoy instantly stopped. He knew Jade and Elliot knew about him and Ziva so he had no problem talking to his girlfriend in front of them anymore. Something was off about Ziva. First off her eyes looked puffy, as if she'd been crying, even with all the makeup trying to cover up the fact. Second, Jade and Elliot flanked her almost as if they were her bodyguards. They always flanked her but their disposition was different today. Something had happened, and Draco intended to find out what.

"Ziva," he said, giving her a smile. She didn't return it.

"You have a lot of nerve doing that," Jade commented.

"What?" Draco gave them a confused look.

"Not showing up last night after she sent you that note?" Elliot added.

Draco began to object but Ziva cut him off. "You told me the day you didn't show up to one of our meetings was the day we were over. Well, I guess we're over. It was a very crappy way to do that in my opinion. If you wanted to break up with me, you should've done it to my face. So screw you and have a nice life. Good bye. Oh, and I'll be sending back those gifts you gave me."

Ziva turned on her heel and her two friends followed, walking off to the Great Hall, leaving Draco in shock. What note? He'd never received any note whatsoever! He never would've broken up with her by not attending one of the meetings. Hell, he'd forgotten he said that mainly because he thought it would never happen! But Ziva swore up and down she sent that note to him. He believed her. So where did it go? A sinking feeling settled into his stomach. Someone else had that note. He wondered what they did with it, if they knew who it was from and who it was for.

"Draco? You okay?" a soft voice questioned.

He whirled around. Astoria Greengrass stood on the staircase leading up from the tunnel the Slytherin house. She stared at him inquisitively. "Yes, Astoria?"

"So it was Ziva you were sneaking out to see at night, wasn't it?" Rather than looking absolutely disgusted, she actually smiled.

"What on earth are you talking about?"

"I accidentally overheard your argument with her just now and I've caught you sneaking out a few times at night. I didn't follow you but I figured out you were going to see someone because you always had a smile on your face when you came back."

Draco's shoulders sagged. "Why didn't you tell anyone?"

"I figured it was someone other than a Slytherin or else you would've announced it to everyone, plus it's none of my business who you see. But might I say, you never received that so-called note she sent you, did you?"

"I have no idea what she's talking about," he admitted. "I wish I did."

"Do you want her back?"

"Of course I do. What kind of idiotic question is that?" Draco snapped.

Astoria raised an eyebrow at him. "Because I'd be willing to help."

"Why would you want to help me?"

"Because unlike some Slytherin girls, I'm not a bitch… usually. And she obviously made you happy."

Draco stared at her. "Do you realize you're dealing with the most stubborn girl in Hogwarts? Ziva does what she wants. You're going to have your hands full just trying to get her to think about me, let alone talk about me."

"I think you'll find that I can be very persuasive. Kindness can go a long way. Besides, I think her friends, Jade and Elliot, are to blame for this."

"Why do you think that?"

"They hate Slytherins more than most Gryffindors. Just keep an eye on them okay? Come on, let's go get lunch."

The two Slytherins headed into the Great Hall together. Draco felt some relief that someone knew about him and Ziva that he knew. Ziva had told Jade and Elliot. If she had trusted them to keep it a secret, then why shouldn't he? But now he doubted their ability to just that. He doubted their loyalty to Ziva. He began to wonder if they would rather manipulate a situation into their favor just because they didn't like what was going on, even if it meant ruining their best friend's relationship with a guy she thoroughly liked. It was wrong. Draco was one to speak. He'd done horrible things before, but never had he broken his loyalty to someone. Of course, the only people he'd ever been loyal to were his parents, the Dark Lord, and Ziva. And even though he'd never shown his loyalty to Ziva in front of the entire school, he still tried to prove it to her by helping her and being there for her and trying to protect her to the best of his ability (which is difficult considering how accident prone she is).

Draco had to get her back somehow. She'd been his rock. She'd been his confidante. He'd told her things he'd never told anyone else. He knew she was angry and upset, but was she upset enough to spill all those secrets he shared with her? Draco suspected she wouldn't, mainly because he believed Ziva knew people would wonder where she got the information and she wouldn't want to risk her reputation.

Still, she had an arsenal she could use against him. But then again, so did he…

No. Draco wouldn't do it. Ziva thought him to be a jerk now. He had to prove to her that he could be a good man, a better man, and by keeping her secrets even after they'd broken up was one way. She would notice too. Ziva noticed the little things about people. The things that made those particular people special. However, Draco knew she didn't see the little things in herself that made her special.

When he got her back, Draco was going to show her those little things.

When he got her back, Draco was going to prove to her just how special she really was.

Hope you enjoyed! A new chapter will be up soon (maybe). Please review! :)
