Step one you say we need to talk, he walks you say sit down, it's just a talk. He smiles politely back at you. You stare politely right on through. Meeting on a bus, Edward and Bella are immediately attracted to each other but their gloomy, abuse-ridden pasts make them both hesitant to trust anyone. Follow them as Bella learns not only how to save a life, but hers is saved as well.

283. Chapter 281

His mouth opens and closes a few times, but nothing comes out.

He becomes quite flustered, to the point where I giggle and he cracks a smile.

"Bella, I'm honoured," he says, quite surprised. "Thank you very much for asking me. You're like a daughter to me, the daughter I never had. I'd be delighted to walk you down the aisle."

I smile and get up, hugging the shit out of him – fucking hormones – before saying, "And you're the father I never had. You've helped me and Edward more than you will ever know. So really, this is partly my way to thank you."

His eyes twinkle like Edward's do from time and time and I can say no more.
