I've been slowly going back through my old chapters (like the older version) so that I can keep the redo on track with it and... my authors notes, all of them, just so horrible. It's like having a graphic online diary depicting my nerdy ass weeaboo stage to anyone who wants to read. I was in deep guys... so god damned deep.
Cass' POV
I leaned over the toilet, my stomach lurching as I threw up. What was it about blood that always made me sick? Maybe it was some repressed memory. I never really have figured it out. "Ugh..." I pushed my hair out of my face and slowly stood up, wiping off my mouth before heading to the sink to rinse out my mouth.
"Are you alright? You look... sick..." I glanced over at Zetsu as he hesitantly stepped into the doorway. I frowned slightly and shut off the sink, drying off my hands.
"I'm fine..."
"You're lying aren't you?" I nodded and he frowned down at me. "Why would you lie and then admit that you had lied?"
"Because I'm not incredibly fond of lying. I just don't like bringing up my issues." I started wringing my hands and took a step back as Zetsu moved further into the bathroom with me. "I, um, read your note..."
"And?"
"I haven't decided yet... I'm confused."
"Why are you confused?"
"I just... I don't know... You make me nervous in a lot of different ways and it's hard for me to figure everything out."
"What ways?" I looked up at him, noticing that his expression was already as unreadable as his voices. Staring up at his golden eyes I let out a long sigh and leaned up against the wall.
"You intimidate me, you're scary and I don't really even know you at all but... I still want to be around you a lot. Being around you is like watching a scary movie because sometimes I'm afraid but I still enjoy it and that's a very confusing feeling." I kept my eyes down but I could almost sense it as he moved closer to me.
"Why were you throwing up anyway?"
"No reason." If I had learnt anything in this place it was to not show weakness. I think the last thing I needed was for people who were known to be especially murderous to know that blood made me have panic attacks and throw up. I bit my lip fairly hard as I tried not to think about Bre bleeding all over the kitchen.
"Are you ill? We could always go talk to Konan."
"I said it was nothing!" My voice was harsher than I intended and I flinched slightly, half expecting him to hit me. When he didn't move closer I looked up to see an actual look of hurt on his face, as if I had slapped him again. "I'm sorry... I just, I don't want to talk about it alright."
"Cass... You can talk to us." There was a long pause as neither of us spoke and I attempted to avoid eye contact. "Are... Are you afraid of blood?" I paled slightly and looked away as his darker side sighed slightly before he leaned down to me, lifting my chin up gently with his left hand. "That's why you wouldn't tell me isn't it. You don't want to become useless. If that's the case then why don't you let us desensitize you to it?"
"What... what do you mean by that?"
"Our meals are rather messy. I'm sure you sitting in on one or two of our meals would make it so blood no longer effected you."
"That or my aversion will only become worse." I shoved his hand away and tried to slip around him, rather surprised when he stepped aside. I was pulled to a stop as he grabbed my arm and turned me around, closing the door behind me before pressing me against it firmly but gently.
"Please don't leave."
"I don't think I have a choice right now..." My voice shook slightly.
"I need you to forgive me Cass."
"This isn't the way to get my forgiveness."
"What do we have to do?" A shiver ran up my spine as he spoke in both of his voices and my breathing became uneven. Shit... what was I thinking about before? How can someone even make me feel this way? "Cass..." I looked between his eyes as he leaned closer to me, his other hand moving up to gently pull my chin up as he kissed me softly. As slowly started to kiss back his hand on my chin slid down to my arm, his fingers brushing along my bare arm before weaving with my own. I kissed back more confidently and had to bite my lip to keep from whining as he pulled away.
"Th-that will help." I blushed slightly as his thumb rubbed against the side of my hand. His other hand moved up to brush a lock of white hair out of my face before caressing my cheek. "You'll need a few more apologies like that to get me to forgive you completely."
A small smirk started to spread across Zetsu's face as he kissed me again. "And now?"
"Not yet..." I reached up and pulled his head back down, kissing him a little harder as he started to press himself against me. He was careful to keep his hunger in check as our kissing got more hot and heavy. And when he started to become too hard with me I ducked my head down, lightly pressing my lips to his jaw and causing him to shudder slightly with a groan as he struggled to calm himself down. "There... that many is good. You're forgiven. But I, uh, I should get going. I have training again today."
"Are you sure?" I nodded and smiled up at him before standing on my tip-toes to kiss his cheek. He smirked again backed up to give me enough room to get out. "I'll see you soon little bird." I squeaked and blushed as Zetsu whispered in my ear, moving my hair out-of-the-way so he could kiss my throat, before bolting from the bathroom. As I rushed out I nearly ran over Bre and we both let out a startled scream.
"Holy shit!" I tried to catch myself before I shoved her down and only managed to side step slightly so we both ended up falling instead of me just taking her down. "Fuck! Sorry, I'm sorry! Holy crap. Are you ok?"
"Ow, jesus, ouch. Cass! Get off my hair!" I quickly moved as Bre started to swat at me, trying to get me off of her hair. "Good god, why were you even running out of the bathroom in the first place!?" I looked back just in time to see Zetsu, who looked like he was about to laugh his ass off, walk casually into the kitchen.
"Spider."
"What! Did you kill it!?"
"If I was running away do you think I killed it?" Bre moved to her feet ungodly fast and I started laughing as I rolled over onto my butt. "Oh man, it's not out here. It was in the bathroom." She shuddered and glared at the bathroom. "It's not going to come out just to get you Bre."
"Yeah but still..." She quickly adjusted her clothes as I stood up and walked back with me to the kitchen. Looking down I noticed the bandage on her hand and furrowed my brow. "Oh... Konan is apparently gone so Kakuzu bandaged me with the med kit from the living room."
"Huh... cool." I looked up at him as we walked into the kitchen and ended up having to force myself not to blush as I looked over to a still smug looking Zetsu. Jesus I wouldn't have made out with you if I'd known you'd get to haughty about it. That's a lie... but still, holy shit man could you make it any more obvious? I ran a hand through my hair with a sigh as I walked over to make my sandwich, sliding it into a pre-headed oven for a few minutes much to Hidan's dismay. Clearly he hadn't thought about doing that.
I pulled it out, setting the sandwich on a plate, and sat down at the table next to Bre and across from Zetsu. "So Kakuzu, do you know if anyone is training us today or are we off for the day?"
"Do you really think breaks will help you improve?" He looked up at me with a slightly harsh gaze and I just rolled my eyes.
"Well you're the one who always insists that he's busy." He opened his mouth to say something but just closed it and sighed. "So then what is it? Training or are you too busy?"
"We'll train inside today. I'll come get you when I'm ready to start." I smirked and nodded as I started to eat. He sighed again before lifting up a book off the table and reading it as he ate. A half hour later and everyone had finished eating, Bre had gone off with Hidan to train, and I was left to clean up the kitchen with Zetsu still watching me from where he'd been sitting the whole time.
"So are you just going to sit there and stare at me or can I expect a conversation to start?"
"We haven't decided yet. You're a very fun person to just observe."
"That's a little creepy." I laughed slightly and stood on my toes to get the freshly cleaned plates into the cabinet. "You could at least help me."
"But where's the fun in that?"
"Aw, that's not really nice. Besides, helping me is the fun part."
"You don't seem to be having all that much fun with it. In fact you seem to be struggling with it slightly."
"That's not my fault. All the shelves are up high and I can't reach all of them. Not everyone is lucky enough to be as tall as you." I turned and hopped up onto the counter to stare at him just a hint grumpy. "You're like a fucking giant."
"Don't cuss. It's unbecoming..."
I blinked a few times, slightly startled by that. "I, um, I'm sorry. I didn't know it bothered you. I'll try and keep it under control."
"I have to listen to Hidan talk like that all the time. It's not that flattering. Especially to someone so attractive." My eyes widened slightly as I looked up at him and I scratched at my head in embarrassment. "How adorable."
"Oh shut up." I started blushing a more noticable red and hopped off the counter to clean it again so I didn't have to make eye contact with him. "You always say things like that. Well you're darker side more often but still."
"Well oh course, we're very honest."
"How come? Isn't that a bit dangerous in this line of work?"
"Most who see us, don't live much longer. That is unless they're important. Or interesting. But that is a much shorter list."
"So which list am I on?"
"Both."
"I, uh, I'm glad to hear that you're in agreement." I kept my body facing away from him as I blushed an even brighter red. There was a pause in our conversation as I assume he started smirking but I was too embarrassed to turn around and see if I was right. Much to my relief I heard a very recognizable cough and turned to look at Kakuza. "Done with everything else you need to do?"
"Yes. I have a few hours I can spare for your training, just don't make it a waste of my time."
"I'll try my best."
"I expect better than your previous best. Now hurry up." Kakuzu turned on his heel and I frowned deeply as I followed after him, giving Zetsu a small wave before I went. Shit he's in a really sour mood. What the hell had he been working on for the last hour? This is even grumpier than he usually is with me... It's gonna be a long next few hours. I ran a hand through my hair as I sighed deeply, easily able to keep up with Kakuzu's long stride now.
