Sup guys. Its Finals...always finals...AND summer, 'cause that's almost here. so yea...
Elizabeth Midford
It was exactly as I remember. Dark and creepy. I'd never actually been inside with Ciel before, so I wondered why he didn't question that I seemed to already be acquainted with the place.
I had worked with the Undertaker maybe only twice, but that was enough to make me go insane. He was really...annoying? Rude? Perverted? I don't know how to describe the man. I first met him on a case when I was 15. Men were being murdered, but the twist was that the body of the men were never found. It was obvious that they were murdered, however, because their heads were always strung up somewhere near the crime scene.
I said they couldn't find the bodies, not the heads.
Anywho, I was nearly at my wit's end when I happened to bump into the Undertaker. Literally. I was walking and I whacked into him. I thought he was going to be pissed, but he seemed pretty okay about me bowling him over.
Later is when I found out about his strangeness. If I had known then that he would be...weird like he is, I would've never agreed to his help 3 years ago.
As I stepped through the door, I caught a snippet of their conversation.
"-like a possessed object maybe?" Ciel said. He was leaned against one of the coffins that were propped up. Sebastian was standing perfectly still, like the OCD butler that he is. The Undertaker was standing behind the counter, grinning like a fool.
I walked over to Ciel, and stood next to him.
"What?" I interrupted. "Possessed object? What are you all talking about?"
Sebastian exchanged a glance with Ciel. "Did you not explain to her yet?" He said frowning slightly.
Ciel shook his head. "I didn't want her to do anything stupid."
"Hello?! I'm right here!" I snapped, annoyed that they were speaking of me as if I wasn't here.
The Undertaker chuckled. "She'll find out sometime. Better now than later." He held up his hand, and examined the dirt underneath his nails.
"Find out what?" I asked. Ciel sighed, as if he were about to do something regretful-
"I would've preferred to not have to tell you, but given the circumstances-"
"Get to the point." I interjected.
Ciel rolled his eyes. "This might be hard to understand, but...That wasn't your butler, William, back there."
"Obviously!" I said exasperated at his lack of better explanation.
"It was a demon." He said.
I blinked. Did he say...demon?
"Demon-? Wha-?"
"Yes, demon. A powerful one, that lives on the purest souls. Mine would've fallen into that category." He smiled faintly, as if remembering something amusing.
" 'Would've?' Why the past tense-?" I stopped. Does that mean-?
I gasped. "Are you saying...that you're a- a-"
"Demon?" He suggested, the smile growing sadder each moment. I stepped back from him, only to bump into a coffin, which fell to the ground with a loud clatter.
I yelped, then tripped over the lid on the ground landing on my butt.
"You're a demon?!" I shrieked. No way. No. Freaking. WAY.
"That went better than expected..." the Undertaker mumbled.
I glared at him. "Shut up! How are you not-?! Unless you're a-!" I attempted to stand up, tripping on the hem of my dress in the process.
I backed up as Ciel stepped forward, hands clasped together behind his back.
"Look, I'm not going to hurt you. I have no reason to." He said in a calming voice.
"Damn straight you aren't!" I snarled and took another step back. " 'Cause I'm leaving!" I whirled around, only to come face to face with Sebastian.
"I'm sorry Lady Elizabeth, but I'm afraid I cannot let you leave." He said smiling politely. I gasped, then walked backwards away from the smiling butler. Once again, I ran into someone. It was Ciel.
Just as I was about to jump away, he spun me around and grabbed me on the sides of my arms.
"I need you to calm down Elizabeth." He said in that same calm voice. I looked away, and closed my eyes. He was a demon. Demon...
"Elizabeth-" He continued to speak, but I heard nothing. It sounded as if he was from afar rather than right in front of me. His voice sounded as if it were going through a tunnel-
"Elizabeth." He snapped. I squeezed my eyes shut even tighter. "Look at me." He commanded. I shook my head. I wanted to remember him as a human, not as this creature.
"Lizzy." Ciel whispered, his warm breath drifting over my face. "You're okay. I'm here. Please, open your eyes." He whispered to me. His voice was so alluring and soft.
Slowly I opened my eyes and turned my head to look into his eyes. Except I wasn't anticipating his closeness, and I ended up whacking my forehead against his.
"Shit!" I yelped, then pulled away from his grasp. Rubbing my forehead, I looked at him closely. He didn't seem any different, but I wasn't sure.
"Eliza-" I put my face close to his, scrutinizing him closely.
"Shut up for a second." I ordered. He closed his mouth and clenched his jaw, annoyed. I stared at his flawless features, his chiseled face, high cheek bones, perfect lips, and blue eyes.
I started to circle him like a shark, inspecting him. His hair was still black, and his frame was still the same (Actually, he was a lot more muscular).
"Are you finished inspecting me yet?" He asked exasperated. I stepped away from him.
"You don't seem like a demon..." I said, watching him warily.
He shrugged. "I guess not. I don't know too much about it, to be quite honest."
"Ahem." The Undertaker's voice interrupted. "Weren't you going to explain everything to her? Or are you two busy being lovey-dovey with each other?"
A slight blush made its way to my face, and I glared at the Undertaker.
Ciel, however, seemed unaffected by the jab and nodded. "Of course." He walked over to a coffin, and sat on it.
"Well, as I was saying before you panicked, a demon is after your soul. Your soul is one of the purest I've ever seen. This demon is a hunter, which means that once it finds a soul that it wants, it never stops looking for it. This demon doesn't need to form a contract with a human to eat a soul. It is a higher form of demon. Not a more evolved, but a higher and much more powerful form of it."
"Wait," I said. "Demons have to form contracts to eat the souls?" Ciel nodded.
"That's what I did with Sebastian. I made a contract with him, so that after I got revenge for my parents, he would receive my soul. However, certain events happened, and he never got my soul."
I glanced warily at Sebastian who noticed my cautious glance, and smiled kindly. I shivered.
"Continuing on, this demon has gotten your scent, and now it's after you. It's never going to stop. Now," He stood up and made his way to the counter. "Normally, the demon would probably catch it's prey within a few days, or a few weeks if you're lucky, but you have two demons and a former reaper on your side."
I blinked. "Reaper?" I asked. The Undertaker smiled. Oh hell no-
"The Undertaker used to be a reaper, however he retired for, ahem 'personal reasons'." Ciel now stood in front of the counter and gestured to the Undertaker, who continued to smile creepily.
"No way! I absolutely refuse to-!" I began.
"Either him, or we have to get his help." Sebastian grimaced at this.
"Who?" I asked eyeing Sebastian suspiciously.
"A reaper who is quite unusually energetic." Sebastian said frowning at the ground. "It may not be my place, but if possible, could we perhaps not work with that reaper my lord?"
Ciel looked at me. "It's up to Elizabeth." I cast a quick glance in the Undertaker's direction. He was polishing a silver coffin.
"I'd rather work with this, Grell person." I replied.
I heard a small sigh from Sebastian.
"Well, that's all you need to know for now." Ciel said. He moved towards the door. "We will not be needing your services any more Undertaker."
The Undertaker didn't even turn around. He just nodded, and suddenly the shop's little door flew open. Ciel walked out, followed by Sebastian, and then me.
I didn't turn back to the Undertaker when he called out to me. "Have a delightful day, Lady Elizabeth!"
Ciel and I got into the smoky carriage, and it began to more. We sat in silence until I asked him, "Why doesn't Sebastian like this Grell character?"
Ciel chuckled. "You'll see in a bit."
Abrupt ending, but I don't even care. I'm just really tired. I think I'll take a shower tomorrow, 'cause I'm just too damn tired tonight. *sigh*
Until next time, see ya later! :)
