Chapter 3
Jason and Amethyst sat there the whole of lunch, talking about everything and nothing. She felt comfortable with him and told him things she didn't think she'd be telling anyone yet.
"So you live with your Aunt and Uncle? What happened to your parents? If you don't mind me asking!" He queried her, quickly following it up with a placation, not wanting to be seen too pushy.
She smiled at him, showing she doesn't mind, but then stated sadly at her legs, which were stretched out so closed to his. "They died when I was 7. A week after my birthday actually. I was coming home from school, saw the red flickering of a fire coming from the road we lived on. Our house was the only one on fire, fully ablaze. I knew I shouldn't have tried to go in, fire burns and all that, but I had to get them out... A neighbor stopped me and they pulled me away as the fire brigade came... Luckily, or unluckily I suppose, my parents weren't completely burned so they found them. They died of smoke inhalation so they never felt the burns... At least at the funerals they could be open casket..." Her voice wavering throughout the whole thing contained sadness and trailed off towards the end, getting lost in her memories
He gazed down at her, arms resting on his knees which were brought up and let her sit in silence. He wasn't sure what to say to that. "Its times like that I'm glad I have a photographic memory but I also hate it with a vengeance... Because no matter how much I want to forget, I never can but at least I remember every single good time too." Her voice as distant, as if still reliving the memory. Hesitating, Jason lightly put his arm over her shoulders and pulled her lightly against his side snapping her out of her thoughts. Tensing up before forcing herself to relax, she leaned into his side. "They wouldn't want you to be sad every time you think of them, because of one thing. They'd want you to remember them as they were and all the good time. They'd want you to move past it." He quietly whispered in her ear, feeling her relax fully into him and nod. They sat there for a few minutes in silence before hearing the five-minute warning bell go off for the next lesson. Cursing, Amethyst stood up and stuffed her things in her bag and shouldered it. Holding a handout to him, he took it and she pulled, helping him stand up nearly unbalancing herself in the process.
"Thanks you, for keeping me company and saying what I needed to hear." She shyly spoke to him, hiding once again behind her fringe. Stepping one foot forward, he lightly brushed her hair behind her ear and grinned. "It was no problem, I like hanging out with you like this. Your different, different to all the shallow girl in this school and all the bitchy ones in Rosewood."
She tilted her head and started to walk, knowing if she didn't shell be late for lessons. He followed her and their hands brushed every so often. "I don't see why you like me so much but I'm not going to complain since you seem to be the only nice guy in this town. Well, apart from this guy in my English class. Noel Kahn? He seemed okay although he looked too... Perfect. He seems like one of those guys that all the girl drool and crowd over."
She mused from his side, never noticing a grimace cross his face at her mentioning Noel. "You may not see why I like talking to you but I do. Your nice, honest and totally unlike anyone else here." By now they've reached her lesson and were talking outside of the door. "What about meeting up at some point then? I have cheer leading practice after lessons, you could come by then... Or any time really!" Her voice got slightly faster and higher, telling him ow nervous she actually was. Smiling, he chilled and nodded. "Alright, I have to stay behind anyway to take Alison home from cheer leading so we can talk then." He winked playfully at her and she laughed. Nodding at him, she pulled the door open and said goodbye. Lingering for as long as possible, Jason walked towards his office with a smile on his face wondering what Amethyst will bring to Rosewood.
The rest of Amethyst's lessons had gone the same way as the first three apart from her Arty class. She really enjoyed that one. They were just staring a project, based on 'connection and Meanings'. What you had to do is find a subject that meant something to you, and it didn't matter what that was as long as you could explain it. Amethyst chose to do Love. And that way she could do her parents, her favorite things and it also meant she do anything she liked, such as portraits or buildings as well as any media.
Heading over to the changing rooms, she quickly got into her cheer leading outfit, tied her hair up in a ponytail and headed out onto the field. Half of the team was already there and she settled into the background, waiting for the coach or head cheer leader to come out. Not a minute later, Alison walked onto the grounds like she owned it. "Alright girls, I believe you've noticed a new addition to our team. Her name is Amethyst and you've probably seen her around school, so please leave your curiosity until after practice." She clapped her hands and smiled a large grin.
"Right then. I think we should see what our newbie can do. Don't you coach?" Turning, Alison addressed the coach who had just walked up to the group.
"I don't see why not? At least then we'll know her strengths and weaknesses." Nodding over to Amethyst, she kept her face in a calm mask and walks to the front. Waiting to be directed, she scouted her eyes over the stands and noticed a head of blonde hair watching them. Blushing and tuning away, she listened to what Alison had to say.
"To start off with, why don't you do the highest flip you possibly can do. If you can't do them that's okay." She noticed that slightly condescending smile and tone of voice and resolved to the best and highest flip ever.
The guys in the group had got into formation and she whispered to the two throwing her to just launch her the hardest they could upward.
Being helped up on to their hands, she readied herself and she jumped when they launched her upward. Doing a triple side wards Summersault on her way down she tucked into herself and did 7 tumble rolls and uncurled herself in time to land on her back in the catcher's arms. Being placed on her feet she looked at everyone's face. The guys mostly had grins on their faces or were nodding while some of the girls looked envious. The coach was smiling widely and even Alison looked happy, but a little jealous at the same time.
"Perfect! Absolutely perfect! I cannot wait to see what else she can do!"
By the end of practice, she was sweating, aching and probably covered in bruises. She'd been dropped so many times, even though to start off with they never dropped her. It wasn't until Alison whispered something to them did they start dropping her. Luckily, she could keep up with the best of them and even learnt the whole to the new routine for next week's football's game. Walking over to the bench she grabbed her drink and drank half of it down. Someone sitting next to her made her look up. Jason sat there, a small smirk on his face as he watched the remaining girls walk into the training room, leaving them alone.
"Looks like practice was fun. Your covered in mud and your hairs a mess. Is that blood?" What started off as joking turned concerned as she noticed her leg still blessed from where shed caught it on some glass after hitting the field an hour ago.
"Yeh, it happened when they first dropped me, there was some glass and I guess my leg got caught on it." Not even seeming to care about bleeding she shrugged it off.
"You should get it cleaned up. I watched them drop you quite a few times, especially after my sister talked to them. She told them to didn't she?" He accused Alison without her being there, not looking over at the red head. All she did was nod and take another swig of her drink. He sighed before standing up and this time holding his hand out to her. Standing, wincing slightly at the sting in her leg and bruises already coming up he walked her to the locker rooms.
"Maybe I'll see you later, Alison said something about going around Arias so if there still here shell get a lift with them." Nodding she trudged off into the locker to have a quick shower just to get the dirt off. Drying off afterwards and walking out to see Alison stood next to her locker. "Did you need something?"
Deciding to get it over and done with, she questioned her while packing her things away and brushing out her hair.
"Yes, I'm heading over to Aria's, I asked them if it was alright if I invited you along, since you probably don't have any actual friends yet, so I was wondering if you'd like to join us there?" She smiled that condescending small just like she did on the field. Turning away she thought about her answer.
"How would we get there? I don't have a car of my own and I don't know my way around Rosewood very well." Deciding to take her up on the offer, only because she'd be getting into the Montgomery household, she couldn't help but think about maybe finding out if what's on her birth certificate was true.
"Jason would take us of course! The girls are already there so hell drive us over." Nodding over she finished packing the rest of the clothes into her bag and shouldered her bag. Making sure shed left nothing behind she walked behind Alison towards to the entrance.
Her last thought as they walked over to where Jason was stood was that she couldn't wait to see if she was right or wrong. And she wondered if she'd be able to hand out with Jason some more.
Authors note- I know it's probably not the best chapter or the most interesting... Maybe even slightly confusing with a few hints in there... Hope you liked it!
