Chapter 3

Sonic and his crew stepped out of the portal and into the future. What they saw took their breath away…not in a good way. The city they stepped into was in shambles, with buildings crumbling and abandoned, flames and lava rising high from the ground. Luckily, they were high up in a building that had two of its four walls blown out, dozens of stories above the churning magma.

"Hey, it's like the script!" Tails cried.

"Shut up, not all of us have read the whole thing!" Knuckles responded, albeit a bit harshly.

Tails just shrugged.

"What happened to this place?" Amy said in awed disbelief.

"Dunno. So where do we find this Silver character?" Sonic asked, disregarding Amy's question.

"Do you even care?" the pink hedgehog cried, turning to the nonchalant Sonic with her hands on her hips.

He shrugged. "It's not my world."

"It will be, in about two hundred years," Shadow pointed out.

This caught Sonic's attention, but once again, he just shrugged it off, intending to not let his crew know about his concern.

"Anyway," Tails butt in, "we better start looking for him. It could take us a while."

But before they went anywhere, Sonic's ear twitched at a noise from behind them. It sounded like the roar of a very large creature. Amy started to say something to Tails in reply to what he said, but Sonic quickly hushed her.

"Listen!" he hissed, and everyone went still.

After a moment of nothing, the roar came again.

The blue hedgehog was the first to act. "This way!" he shouted to the others, and ran off at break-neck speed, closely followed by Shadow, the others following at a much slower pace. After a few minutes of running around at the speed of sound, staying on overpasses and raised streets, Sonic saw what had made the noise; a huge creature, seemingly made of hardened magma with trickles of lava running down its massive body, was standing over the street several hundred yards ahead, a tilted building having hid it from view. It looked like boxes and cars, surrounded in a blue-green aura, were being thrown at it, the source of the one throwing them not visible from where he stood.

Sonic only hesitated long enough to get a look at the scene before jumping off the street that kept them above the lava and flames.

"Sonic!" several people in his team cried, running to look over the guard rails of the road, expecting to see Sonic flailing and screaming as he burned in the flames.

However, that was not the case. The next moment, a blue streak shot up the tilted building and launched off it like it was a ramp, heading right towards the creature. Sonic rolled into a ball and, once he knew he was close enough, homing attacked the head of the monster, landing on the roof of another sunken sky-scraper after the attack. The creature wailed, and since it had already been weakened by whoever had been attacking it with the cars and boxes, fell into the lava with a splash. Sonic brushed his hands off before leaping onto the platform where the stranger had been fighting. Shadow, and then the others, joined him.

The one who had been fighting the creature was an anthro hedgehog with grayish-silver fur, gold eyes, and quills like a marijuana leaf. He had chest fur, like Shadow and Tails, but it went all the way around his neck. The stranger also wore gloves with a strange turquoise symbol on his palm and the back of his hand, much like a power symbol. Gold cuffs lined his knee-high boots and gloves, a stripe of the same glowing, turquoise energy embedded in them. Sonic recognized these blue-green details as the mark of someone with psycokinesis, which explained the floating boxes. He looked no older than fourteen, though it was hard to tell with hedgehogs.

The silver hedgehog spoke in a rather nasally, young voice. "How'd you do that?"

"Do what?" Sonic asked.

"You just shot right through it like it was nothing!"

"You mean the homing attack?" Sonic smiled. "Pretty slick move, huh?"

"Silver!" a familiar voice cried out. The entire group looked up to see a purple, anthro cat bounding down a steel scaffolding to the platform they were on. Her gold eyes turned to the group. "I didn't expect to see you guys here so soon. I assume you know about the game?"

"Of course, we'd be the first to know," Shadow said.

"Whatcha doing here, Blaze?" Sonic asked.

"You guys know each other?" the new hedgehog, now known as Silver, inquired.

"Yes," Blaze the Cat replied. "We've been in other video games together." She turned her attention back to Sonic. "We're probably here for the same reason then. To bring him back with us." She nodded in Silver's direction.

Sonic nodded. "Guess so."

"What was that thing?" Amy asked Silver.

"That was the Iblis demon," Silver replied. "I think it's included in the game."

"It is," Tails said.

"STOP SPOILING IT!" everyone in Sonic's crew shouted. Tails put up his hands defensively and took a step back.

"Too bad I killed it," Sonic grinned.

Silver shook his head. "You didn't. You only weakened it for now. He just comes back later, stronger than before. It's an endless fight."

"Oh," was all Sonic said in response.

"Anyway, are you in?" Tails asked Silver and Blaze.

Both nodded and said, "of course!" at the same time.

Sonic turned to Shadow, who nodded. Both took out Chaos Emeralds and held them next to each other in the air. With a shout of "Chaos Control!" a time portal opened up. One by one, all of them hopped through, and between one step and the next, went between two hundred years in the future to the present time. As the last person stepped through into the SEGA meeting room, Arumakan, the man directing the cutscenes in the game, stepped into the room.

"Good, everything's ready," he said, seeing that everyone was present and accounted for. "We can start filming early! Firstly, I'd like you to meet some of the new cast. Meet the damsel in distress of the game, Elise!

A tall, long-legged woman, currently wearing a sweatshirt and jeans, with short red-brown hair, stepped into the room, and everyone reacted.

((Sadly, this chapter was extremely short. The length of the chapters will vary, I suppose. And I think I will try to put at least three bloopers in each chapter from here on out, since the actual scenes should start next time! Also, here's the order in which I will do the scenes: I will do them chronologically, as shown in the game, but begin with Sonic's Story, then Shadow's, then Silver's, and finally the Final Story. I'm really looking forward to this! I'll start watching the cutscenes this week to make bloopers for them. As for the glitches, I'm gonna try to comically explain the more prominent ones, like the flying boxes and jumping out of the game area. I'll make up short explanations for them and throw them in, hopefully, in order. Otherwise they'll be a few chapters all on their own, after the cutscenes are filmed/blooperized. Yup, that's a word.
