Author's Note – Rewrite
Hi everyone! I know it's been a while, but I wanted to leave a message for those of you that still read (or care) about this fanfiction. I have taken quite a bit of time after the last chapter to think about the choices I have made throughout this fanfiction, as well as its future installments. I have received many reviews over a few chapters that have led me to rethink some of my decisions. I am now planning to rewrite "I Need You" for several reasons, but one of the most important is that I started this fanfiction thinking this series would revolve around this "timeline" (this telling of I Need You) when, in the overall scope of the series, it relies more on the past told in its sequel ("Haunting Past"). So I will be rewriting the series to connect more with the prequel, and I will be making a few changes:
Many of you have told me of your dislike for John. I understand this and, after careful consideration, have decided to give him a different role (because he is important for the sequels): he will no longer be married to Chi-Chi (because I have realized just how unjust to the original this was), but will still remain more of a supporter/doctor role to Gohan. He will still be in it, but in a more appropriate role.
The School Arc; meaning the high school one. When I planned this fanfiction at the age of 12, I didn't necessarily have a solid plan for this arc and the continuation of it. Like many of you told me, Gohan going to high school at 11 is not very probable, even for him. Plus, the main reason for me doing that arc was for the readers to be introduced to Kevin, so I will be discluding the arc in the rewrite and introducing Kevin in a different way.
Rewrites in general. I will leave this fanfiction up for reference to the original, but I will most likely rewrite a lot of the chapters in a new story (Re: I Need You). This is to update grammar and to add more detail to the earlier chapters. Depending on if I leave Chapters 1-10(ish) alone will be decided later, but I will most likely update them as well.
This is the conclusion I have come to after careful thought as an author. I apologize for anyone who has been waiting for the next chapter for a long time, but the idea of continuing the story with the current choices did not feel right to me. As hard as it is to admit it, I believe the rewrite won't come out until after I finish "Haunting Past" (so that the initial plot can be more solidified). Thank you to everyone who has supported this fanfiction during its initial run. This is not the end; I will finish this, but until then, please bear with me.
