Chapter XXIII: Aftermath Part 2
Natalia yawned and looked at her surroundings, it was quite different to her- not waking to hotel bed or wherever she had compelled to stay. Finally in a such a long period, she had a place that she could call home. A Family. Somebody that cared for her. Of course, Natalia heard of the legends about the creatures of the night, the first ever vampires- The Originals, but she never thought that it would have been possible the Original Hybrid as her father. Niklaus Mikelson, her father and Katherine Pierce as her mother. Natalia had a hard time wrapping her head around the fact that she was an Original's daughter plus she was also a twin.
"Couldn't sleep, love?" She spun around, and her eyes landed on Klaus. She wasn't sure if she should call him Dad or Father or even Daddy like Aria referred to him as. It just didn't feel right to her.
So she shook her head, "Hard to adjust." She said grabbing a seat, keeping an equal distance between them.
He nodded, "Look I know that things are hard but I'm here for you." His eyes never left her once. She wasn't really sure how to feel about being around the Originals, she felt like she was an intruder, even if they were her family.
"I'm sorry." Natalia looked up, confused by what he meant.
"I swear to you Natalia, those witches won't survive for long." Klaus said with the most serious tone, she heard ever used towards her.
"It's not your fault." She stated without controlling herself, "You didn't know." She added.
"I should have been there for you, like any other father should be for his children..." Klaus said as mind flashed back to the memories of his father beating him.
He had promised himself that he would be better than him. No matter how hard Klaus tried to block those memories, they always mange to came back to haunt him. Even as he had his stepfather staying with him, he still felt like the weak boy that he was as a human, not the powerful hybrid that he painted himself to be. No with him and his mother on the loose, he had to keep his girls safe.
Natalia felt her heart soften at those words, she had gone at least five hundred years without a family. She learned to survive for herself and only depended on herself. Never had she thought that she would be apart of a family like the Originals, to be honest. Without another word she flashed toward Klaus wrapped her arms around him.
If Klaus was surprised, he didn't show it. He pulled her in tightly, "You're not alone anyone, sweetheart. I promise you." He whispered loud enough for only her to hear.
Klaus had always wanted a family, and it seems that his dream was partly coming true. Natalia smiled, she finally had a place where she was accepted. She had what she missed, a family. Parents. A sister. Uncles. An aunt. Not only that but she was an Original's daughter plus she was also the amazing Katherine Pierce's daughter as well.
Yeah her life was set.
Well for now.
Katherine sighed as she took another long sip of the vodka bottle. To be fair, she had a long day. Finding out that she had another daughter, one that she didn't even know existed. She also have found out that her eldest daughter may be alive. Mikael was still on the loose.
"You do know that alcohol doesn't solve problems but make them even more worse."
Katherine groaned, it was the last person that she wanted to see.
"Lijah, what do you want?" She whined.
"You didn't show up at home and I thought the worse."
"Of course you did." Katherine interrupted, "That place you call home, isn't mine."
"How did you find me anyways?" As Elijah sat down next to her, "I didn't expect you to be here." He said looking out at the falls.
"Well you found me, so congrats."
"What is on your on mind, Katherina?"
"A lot." She admitted looking out into the sunset, "I found someone that I didn't think I could find."
He rose an eyebrow, "Who?"
"My firstborn daughter, Nadia." She laughed at Elijah's reaction, "If I never had a child, how else would the world have the precious Elena Gilbert?"
"The daughter that you had before meeting us is alive?"
"Yes and she's kicking it, she along with Luke helped Aria and Natalia escape." She smiled proudly.
"Have you met her yet?"
She looked down, "No. Not yet." Katherine looked up and caught Elijah's gaze, "She'll hate me. I mean how am I suppose to even talk to her? I feel like I've failed all my children."
Elijah took her free hand into his, forcing her to look into his eyes, "You'll never know until you talk to them. As for failure, that's something that you believe...if you truly believe that you are a failure as a mother than so be it. Though Katherina, I know that you'll make the right choice." He said sincerely.
"Thank you, Lijah." She said standing up and grabbed his hand.
"Where are we heading?" Elijah questioned.
Katherine wagged her eyebrows, "Somewhere important, you'l like it. Trust me."
With that Elijah and Katherine, both whisked off to Katherine's secret location.
Caroline silenced her phone, and sighed as she walked down to her favorite place in Mystic Falls. She wanted to just yell at the top of her lungs when she saw the person that beat her to it.
"Seriously?! I can't even have the only place where I know peace anymore."
Klaus turned around with an amused smile, "Why love, you wound me, why not share."
She rolled her eyes. "Why would I like to do that?"
"Come on get to know me." He held out a bottle.
She sighed but accepted the bottle and they sat together and looked at the stars in the night sky. Though if there was anything that bugged Caroline more than clean room it was silence.
"Okay so why is the big bad hybrid doing here tonight." She questioned.
"Can the big bad hybrid not have some peace to himself. Love, it's been a long day for me."
"Really that bad, huh?" Caroline said, staring into the dark night, "Look I've had this question to ask you and it's really been bugging me like crazy."
Klaus stared at her, waiting for her to continue.
"That night when I was bit by Tyler, why did you save me?"
Klaus lean back, "Well, Love it was your birthday and I thought how tragic would it be to let this girl die on her birthday because of her lover."
Caroline glared at him and he placed his hands up as if he were surrendering, "Caroline. I meant what I said to you about seeing the world, this small town life won't give you justice."
She started toy around with the bracelet before meeting his baby blue eyes, "You think so?"
"Of course, sweetheart, you have so much potential."
She rolled her eyes before gazing at him. He looked so human and so worried.
"Okay, I don't mean to pry but what's up with you?"
"Me?" He questioned pointing himself.
"Yes, you, you're so different..."She trailed off, "You know it's not good to carry a burden, right?"
"Right, and I should spill my problems out to a seventeen year old girl."
"Hey." She swatted his arm playfully, "Eighteen now, and yes I may be able to help, ya know." She said sitting up straight.
"So you know Aria?"
"Yeah your daughter...the one with great style with fashion." His eyes narrowed on her confused.
"Anyways I found out that she has a twin-Natalia. I'm a father to twin girls." He smiled for the first time since talking to Caroline.
"Wait so backup, you and Katherine are parents to twin girls!" She confirmed as her bright blue eyes widen.
He nodded," Now my parents want to kill me and my family."
She gasps, and Klaus looks at her like she was going crazy.
"Why?" She was genuinely concerned, even when Caroline's mother hated her at one point, she couldn't understand what mother would want their children dead.
"To be honest, they see us as monsters, and when we die...every vampires dies."
Suddenly Caroline could felt her heart beat faster, the sound of death was something that she wasn't ready for, "I have faith that you'll find a way to defeat them. I mean you always managed to come up with a plan anyways, and now you have Katherine. You two together can basically just take over the world."
Klaus up and dusted his shirt before offering his hand to Caroline, "Thank you for the idea, sweetheart."
"Seriously! It's possible, and I wouldn't be surprised." She bumped into Klaus, who chuckled.
"It's been a great time, Caroline. Thank you for your wisdom."
"She smiled, "No problem, Klaus."
"You if I didn't know better, I'd say that you're having a crap day." Matt said to the beautiful brunette that sat in front of him, half drunk.
"Like you wouldn't even know." She said rolling her eyes, "I found my mother and my sisters and what do they do? They ignore me." Her natural foreign accent spilled.
"Sorry..." He trailed off waiting for a name.
"Nadia." She offered along with a dazzling smile.
"I'm Matt." He pointed to his name tag.
"Well Matt, I shouldn't be bugging you with my problems." She said before taking a long sip from her bottle.
Tyler suddenly walked into Grill and straight towards Nadia and Matt.
"Tyler?" Matt questioned, "Aren't you suppose to be with Klaus and his family?"
"Yeah well he let us go for the night something about needing family time." He leaned in closer, " I think I may have found a way to break the sire bond."
Nadia started to slow clap, "Well done. I'll be sure to come to your funeral."
Tyler glared at the girl, "Who are you?"
"Nadia." She said getting up, "And I should be going." Tyler suddenly found himself grabbing Nadia's arm, "Maybe you wanna do some shots?" Matt raised his eyebrows at the two, "Well...I can help out with that." He said as he shot her a smile.
Nadia glanced at the door and then back at Tyler before answering, "Sure why not. Let's have the time of our lives."
"Having family problems?" Stefan stated as he found Rebekah sitting on the park bench all by herself.
"Stefan." She said startled, "What are you doing here?"
He shrugged as he sat down next to her, "I was out walking, you know to clear my mind and then I saw you, out here all by yourself. What's on your mind?"
"A lot." She admitted, "I just...wonder what it would be like to become a human again.
"Human?"
"I mean Nik has a family, even if he can't see it." Anger, jealously, and hurt spilled out through her voice. The tone of Rebekah's voice, Stefan knew it all too well-it was the same one that Damon had used when it he had complicated feelings towards Stefan.
"He's too bloody obsessed with his hybrid building army to even notice that he doesn't need them. He has us, his family." She continued on, "Even when we want to even him, Nik makes it impossible to leave his side."
"Here's a question: Why not just get up and leave for a while." Stefan said.
Rebekah chuckled, "Like I said it's impossible. First of all he had these mystical daggers that put us all to sleep. Second, we all owe him not to leave his side."
"You owe him?"
"As you might already know, Nik is our half brother. Our father hated him because when he looked towards Nik, it reminded him of our mother's affair. So whenever he was angry, let out all his anger on one person." She said placing her finger up, "Guess who?"
"Klaus." Stefan said as his mind flashback to Damon and father, "That's why Klaus wants hybrid so badly."
"He wants loyalty and love. He seeks that because I believe that the rest us failed him in past. And love because the only woman that ever loved him..."
"Cheated on him with his own brother." Stefan interrupted as Rebekah shot him a confused look, "Elijah and Klaus told me and Damon at dinner."
"When the bloody did you guys have that?"
"You were still stuck in the coffin, the night before Elijah pulled out the daggers from everybody."
She didn't say nothing. Stefan took a while to take everything that Rebekah had said to him, "So the reason you hate Elena is because of the original doppelgänger?"
"Please. I could forever go on about how much I hate Elena. But yes I guess you can take what Tatia did to my brothers in account as well."
"So what about Katherine?"
Rebekah raised her eyebrows, "What about her?"
"In some weird way, she happens to be the mother of your nieces..." He trailed off, "She's tried to kill Klaus on numeral of occasions, She's on Klaus' hit list for the longest time and now Klaus is forgiving her just like that?"
Rebekah shrugged, "I guess my brother had a change of heart for the bitch. What did you ever see in her anyways?"
Stefan was a bit taken back by the question but answered anyways, "The love that I held for Katherine, wasn't even real. I was compelled."
"So you came back here to boring ol' Mystic Falls to find Elena, who was everything that Katherine wasn't but with the same face?"
"When you put it that way then yes."
Rebekah hit her forehead with a giggle as Stefan looked at her as if she lost her mind.
"Don't you see Stefan? You may not have loved Katherine, but whenever you see Elena, the good memories that you share with Katherine will always come back to haunt you. Same with Damon, he was head over heels for Katherine at one point. right?"
"Right, so how did he feel when Katherine told him she wasn't in love with him."
"He went on a rampage?"
"Exactly wait no, did it ever occur to you that Damon could have been sired to Katherine?"
"Sired. Damon to Katherine?"
"In truth, Damon doesn't love Elena, all he sees Katherine."
Stefan looked at Rebekah, how could he not have ever thought of that.
"But I love Elena for who she is." He started.
"No you don't. Who was the last girl that you loved that wasn't a doppelganger?" She said standing up, walking in the opposite direction.
"It was you." Stefan said before he could even control the words, but Rebekah was already gone by that time.
Rebekah stopped and smiled as she heard those word echo.
It was you.
"So darling, are you feeling okay?" Kol raised his eyebrow at Aria, who was curled in a blanket sipping on a blood bag. Finn leaned against the doorway, watching his niece. She was on her twenty-fifth blood bag since they came back from the incident involving his parents.
"I just feel so weak, like my soul was being sucked out of me, not to mention all vervain shots that the witch injected into me." She growled.
"Woah woah, let's not angry, sweetheart." Kol started when he saw the murderous look in her eyes, "We'll get even."
Aria looked up confused, "How?In case you haven't noticed your parents, my grandparents want us dead! At this point I'm not sure why they want me alive and why they led you to save me in the first place."
"Unless." Finn spoke up.
"Unless what, brother?" Kol questioned.
"Esther needs you for a curse or a spell."
"Obviously." Aria rolled her eyes, " I have the blood of the doppelgänger and the hybrid and I'm their firstborn daughter."
"Someone's quite boastful today for someone who also died because of their heritage." Finn said sitting down next to her, "How do you truly feel?" Aria glanced at Finn's face before looking down.
"Kol." Finn called out. Kol took one look at his brother's face and knew what he meant, "Well then I'm going to check up on the woman who claims to be my mother." Finn sighed but said nothing looking up towards the ceiling.
Aria looked up, she felt bad for her uncle Finn-he was the one that was a mommy's boy.
"I know that you're feeling something that you're keeping bottled up. Niklaus used to do the same when we were younger."
"Really?"
"Yes, but you know that you can tell me anything."
"You know being alive for five hundred years, I've been really been alone. I had Rose and Trevor. But..."
"That's not what you're really worried about is it?" Finn interrupted.
"It's just that I don't think that I'm really that special...When Natalia and I were held captivate...I heard Esther say to Ayana that my magic is weak."
"Weak?"
She nodded, "No matter how hard I try I can never really be able to control."
"We'll find a way, I promise." Finn said kissing her forehead, "Mo-Esther won't bother you for long."
Aria nodded, "Can I have another blood bag?"
Finn smiled and passed her one. Aria could see the displeasure on Finn's face as he grabbed one.
"We're not monsters, you know." She added, "Most vampires have a way to find and keep the humans alive, other like Stefan Salvatore fed from animals and well other vamps drink from blood bags where the human decides to their blood by choice..."
"It's not that." He said quietly before Kol vamp speed into the room, "She's gone!"
"What?" Aria exclaimed almost dropping the blood bag, "Whatcha mean she got away. We have to tell Mom and Dad. Like now."
"Are you ready to make the sacrifice, my love?" Esther questioned.
"We must complete what we start." Mikael responded, "We created abominations, we must destroy them, it is the only way."
"Elijah and Finn are to be killed as well." Esther said slowly.
"You aren't having second thoughts on this, my dear?" Mikael said taking her hand.
"No. Do you have the girl?"
Mikael waved to his vampire minions, "Bring her in."
The guards dragged out a brunette girl, who tried to struggled out of their grips.
"And who might you be my dear." Esther said as she moved closer to the girl.
"First of all, who the hell are you people?" Mikael place his hand on his dagger, ready to strike the girl hard.
Esther raised her hand, " I think it would be beneficially for a proper greeting, don't you believe? Let her go." She instructed.
The guards let her go and she almost fell to the ground, but before she did Esther moved her to a chair.
"I'm the Original Witch, Esther and this is my husband Mikael, Vampire hunter."
The girl sat up and her eyes widen, "I'm Hayley Marshall."
"But why do you-"
"Right to the point, we know that you're working with Katherina.'
She stared on, "Who?"
"Katherine Pierce. We know that you wish to know about your family." Mikael said.
"So you kidnapped me because you want me to kill her or something."
"No, we want you to tell us everything you tell Katherine." Esther said.
"And what do I get in return?" She smirked.
"A locator spell to your family."
"So Hayley, do we have a deal?" Mikael said holding his hand out.
Hayley looked at his hand then his face with a smile, "Deal."
A/N: Miss Me? Sorry that I haven't updated in a while...It just took my a while to decide how and where to end this story. So,yes I have decide on a sequel. My goal is to reach at-least 200 reviews before ending the story.
-Questions-
-What scene did you like the best? Sorry about not having a Damon/Aria scene...but I plan for them to have one soon
-Like Klaroline scene...I hate writing them because I can never capture they chemistry, they're one of the hardest ships to write for me.
and yes I decided to place Moon Moon (hayley) in this story... trust me, she'll have somewhat of a purpose...I'll forever hate her character-nothing can change my mind about her and her chemistry with Elijah makes me wanna puke. Like what the hell is Klayley & Halijah, the fuck? NO that should not even be allowed. I've tried to give Halyey a chance but she failed me. #endofstory
-Do we trust Finn? Oh would you guys prefer Sage to show up too?
Next chapter is where all the action is going to start...Please review!
