Hey guys! I know it's been ages and I'm deeply sorry for that. :(
Her life drastically changed yesterday. Well she is actually not sure about that, but she guesses not many people wake up without having any idea who they are or how they ended up in this situation. She's been trying to come up with some sort of information about herself since she woke up yesterday morning without her memory. The doctors told her that it could be temporary or not. They don't know and she can't blame them, even though she wants to blame someone for her condition but she wouldn't know who. She does know that she's not from this town, because no one was reported missing and no one recognized her. And in a small town like this someone definitely would. And she knew that she hated this feeling of not knowing. The doctors also couldn't tell her how long she'd have to stay in the hospital, it all depended on her healing process. It could only be a month but it could also be way longer. She has only been awake for a day after being in a coma for roughly 3 weeks but she was already bored out of her mind. Not that she was awake for long periods of time. She mostly slept but every time she was awake she was just soooo bored. But she really does have crazy dreams when she's sleeping. They all involve a little brown haired girl. She wondered if it's memories from when she was a child, or if she has a child out there somewhere. Or what if it is her younger sister or a cousin. Or what if it's just a figure of her imagination. She had the feeling that she couldn't trust her brain. It was frustrating.
"Hey there, you up for some lunch?" Tina, her nurse, poked her head in. She liked her. Tina was nice and doesn't treat her like an invalid.
"Sure. I've got nothing else to do." She moved her bed into a sitting position. She suppressed a groan of pain. She didn't like showing pain. She wondered if she's always been that way...
"The police is gonna stop by tomorrow to talk to you. I know you don't remember anything but they might have some information for you. Maybe they found some clues on your clothes or something." Tina tried to sound optimistic and Kensi was thankful for that but at the same time she doubted the police had any news.
"Let's hope they come while I'm awake."
"Stop being so grumpy and impatient. You're a horrible patient." Tina was smiling though. So Kensi knew she wasn't really complaining. Tina put the lunch box on the tray next to Kensi's bed.
"Is there anything else you need?" "How about my memory?" Kensi laughed.
"I'm sorry but we don't have that in stock." Tina countered.
"Daddy, Daddy! Wake up! WAKE UP!"
"Hmpf?" Deeks groaned and opened one eye just a little to look at his bedside table. 5:30. "It's to early Soph." He closed his eye again. "But Daddy there is snow outside. Real snow!" She exclaimed happily. "I want to go outside and play in the snow. Please Daddy" He looked at her, how she stood there with a sparkle of excitement in her eyes. He could hardly say no... "But Princess it's dark outside we won't be able to see anything. I promise you, we'll go out and play in the snow as soon as the sun is up."
She didn't look to happy about that.
"Can I cuddle up with you then Daddy?"
"Sure."
They got another couple of hours of sleep before they got up and had breakfast. By the time they were done eating Deeks realized that they didn't have the right clothes for this kind of weather.
He was about to grab his phone and call Lisa for some advice when there was a knock on the hotel room door.
"Soph, can you open that?"
Sophia got up from the couch to open the door.
"Hey Sophia, I hope we are not intruding. We thought you might want to enjoy the snow and that you might need these."
Lisa smiled at Sophia and then looked up to meet Deeks' eyes.
"I was actually just about to call you and ask for your help in figuring out where to get snow pants from." He put his phone down again and walked over to the door.
"Come on in. And who are you young ladies?" He noticed the two girls behind Lisa. Deeks took the snow pants and boots from Lisa and handed the smaller ones to Sophia.
"I'm Alana and that is my younger sister Joan." Said the older of the two girls. "We wanted to come to and play with Sophia."
Deeks was impressed. That girl was only 7 and spoke English perfectly. Lisa must have noticed Deeks' surprised look and explained that her husband is a native English speaker. They ended up spending the whole day outside in the park and playing in the snow. Snowball fights were fought, snowmen were built and snow angels were made.
Tina came in the morning to let her know that the cops would come around noon. So she tried to stay awake once it was past 11.30. She was wondering what they were gonna do once they realized that she doesn't remember anything. Then there was a knock on the door.
"Come in." Two man in uniform came into the room.
"Hello Miss. I'm Officer Rodgers and this is my partner Officer Link. We would like to ask you some questions."
They sat down next to her bed.
"Okay but I have to warn you. I don't remember anything. I don't know who I am, where I'm from or what happened. The nurses just told me that I was found in pretty bad shape in the middle of the woods." She looked at them feeling hopeless.
"We are aware of your situation. But we hope once we tell you what we know so far that it might jog some memory." Officer Link replied calmly. She nodded and looked at him expectantly.
"We know that you were found unconscious in a tree stands in the wood approximately an hour outside of Great Falls. Your body showed obvious signs of being in a fight. The hospital sent over your clothes and they also looked under your nails for evidence. And we found a second type of blood besides yours. While we searched the area that you were found to see if we could determine where you came from, we found a farm. We also found the body of a man in his late 40. He was lying in front of the farms house. He died from a combination of his injuries and being outside in the cold for a couple of days. The blood that was found on his clothes matched yours, so we know you have been in a fight with him. When we searched the house we found a transponder that works with the bracelet you were found with. So we're pretty comfortable in saying that you were held hostage on that farm."
That was so much information that Kensi felt lightly overwhelmed. It didn't help that she had apparently killed a man. But he had held her hostage… she couldn't think straight. And yet there were so many questions in her head.
"Do you know who he is? Maybe when you find out who he is it can give us a clue as to who I am. " She looked at them hopefully.
"No, we don't know who he is yet. But we're still working on that." One of them replied.
She was silent again for a couple of minutes.
"Do you know for how long I was there?"
The two Officers shared a look before Officer Rodgers replied.
"When we searched the farmhouse we found what was apparently your room. CSU took it apart and found some marks on the wall behind your bed. You counted the days you were being held there. There were 1418 marks. You were there just a couple of weeks short of 4 years."
Kensi was shocked. 4 years! She's been held hostage for 4 years?! She was wondering, even if she had family out there that who was initially looking for her, if they had given up by now. If she was a cold case in whatever city she was obviously abducted. After all 4 years is a very long time for someone to be missing. What did that guy do to her for all these years.
Officer Link coughed to get her attention.
"You remember anything?"
"No…Yes. I'm not sure. I don't know if they are memories or just dreams." She said unsure if she should proceed.
"Just tell us. Maybe it's helpful, maybe it's not. But at least we have to try." He smiled at her warmly.
She nodded and then thought for minute about how to tell them.
"It's a brown haired girl, she's playing on the beach but I can't really make out her face. I don't know if it's me as a child or if she is my child or just some random child…. And there is a pier and some hills further along the coast. There is also another person…it's kinda blurry, I can't make out anything about him or her. I'm sorry." She looked down at her hands.
"It's okay Miss. I'll tell you what we will do. We're gonna go back to the Precinct and we're gonna start looking through missing persons reports and we'll send out your picture to all the states with a coast. If something comes up we'll let you know. And if you remember anything else you'll call us."
With that the officer stood up, shook her hand and left.
Hope you like it :)
