Hey guys, some of you said that the police would be able to ID Kensi through her finger prints. But I thought that Hetty would probably remove any kind of information from an Agent from any data system. So no, in this story the police is not able to ID Kensi through her finger prints or face recognition. And they also wouldn't get a hit in missing persons because she is already presumed dead and therefore her file is no longer an open missing persons report. Just thought I'd clear that up
Now enjoy the new chapter!
(Jan. 2018 1 months after the previous chapter)
They would release her tomorrow. She's been stuck in this hospital for over a month and she still doesn't remember a thing. It was very frustrating. The police didn't find anything useful either. There was no missing persons report that fit her person and the other states didn't have anything that might fit either. She also wasn't in the system. They came and took her fingerprints one day to run them through the database but nothing came up.
They did manage to ID the body of the man from the farm house. His name was Mark Hauer and he used to be a doctor in St. Louis 10 years ago and then he quit and disappeared. Nobody knew where he went or what he did afterwards. That doesn't help them figure out where he might have taken her from or why. She wonders if she is ever going to figure out who she is. A knock on her door brought her out of her thoughts.
"Come on in."
Tina opened the door. "Social Services are here."
A women in a black power suit entered her room after Tina. Tina turned around to close the door before going to stand next to the bed.
"Good morning Miss. I'm Johanna Martin and since you're going to be released tomorrow, I am bringing you everything you'll need to start over."
She opened the bag she was carrying and took out an envelope.
"We've got you a driver's license, a new Social Security Number and some money to get you started. I also have all the papers you need to open a bank account, rent an apartment and so on."
She handed the envelope over to Kensi who took it carefully. Tina started talking to Johanna about all the stuff that needed to be done. Kensi opened the envelope and took the papers out. Amy Johnson. That was going to be her name according to the driver's license. She and Tina had spent hours trying to find a name that she liked and felt fit her. Glancing down at her license again she wondered how far off her 'new' birthday was from her actual one. She was so deep in thought that she didn't even notice the agent leave.
"Amy?" Tina tried to get her attention. "Are you alright?"
"It feels wrong. I know it's necessary for me to have a name and documents and stuff but I already have all that I just can't remember. What if my friends or family continue to look for me but they can't find me because of my new name?"
Tears had started to make their way down her pale cheeks. Not remembering anything had started to take a toll on her and the dreams about the little girl and that man didn't help either. She had the feeling that they were important to her, maybe even her family and that she let them down by forgetting about them. Her therapist told her not to read too much into it, that they were just dreams. But she felt that they were not just dreams but not quite memories either. She couldn't really explain it.
Tina hugged her and let her cry on her shoulder, trying to be there for her friend.
"It'll all work out. Just have some faith, Amy. You'll come home with me tomorrow and stay there for a while so you can save some money and we'll find a job for you so that you can eventually travel and find that place you keep dreaming about."
Amy/Kensi smiled at her friend, thankful for her optimism.
"Daddy! Look, I can almost touch the sky!" Sophia exclaimed, going higher and higher on the swings. It was a nice and rather warm afternoon for a day in January. Deeks sat on a bench close to the swing set and just watched Sophia having fun. January had been a hard month for them. Just a couple of days ago it had been the anniversary of Kensi's death. He had taken Sophia to the cemetery and they had stayed for a while before going to Hetty's place for a dinner with the team including Claire. They've become good partners since they've talked.
"I'm thirtsy, Daddy." Sophia exclaimed running up to him. Deeks got a bottle of water out of their backpack and handed it to Sophia. She sat down next to him and took a big gulp of water. They sat there quietly for a couple of minutes, just observing other people before Sophia spoke again.
"Babies grow in their mommy's belly right?"
"Yeah that is right." Deeks wondered where Sophia was going with this. He looked over at her and saw her frowning like she was thinking about something really hard. So he just waited until she figured out what exactly she wanted to say.
"But how come I'm here with you? The bad man had mommy a long time before she died, so how could I be in mommy's belly but end up with you? Did mommy come home after she had me and gave me to you and then went back to the bed man? But why would she go back?" Sophia sounded really confused. Deeks had dreaded those questions. He took a deep breath and looked at Sophia.
"You know how Sam and G are not my brothers but they are still your uncles?" Sophia nodded. "Uncle Sam always says that family is not always defined by blood but by the people who love you."
"Yes that is absolutely right princess. And sometimes baby don't grow on their mommy's belly but in that of another woman."
"So I wasn't in mommy's belly?"
"No, you weren't. You grew in the belly of mommy's sister. She is your biological mother. You lived with her until you were 2 years old. And then she was in a bad car accident and died. The police brought you to me because I was already living in mommy Kensi's apartment and she was already missing."
He didn't know how to go on. He didn't want to overwhelm her with information but there were still things he hadn't mentioned yet, like the adoption.
"So, I have two mommies?" She looked at him with big questioning eyes. "One by blood and on because she loves me?"
"Yep but that doesn't mean that mommy's sister didn't love you. She loved you very much just like Kensi and I do." He told her.
"If I have two mommies does that mean I have two daddies, too?" She questioned.
"Yeah you have me because I love you and then you a daddy by blood, but I don't know who he is."
He looked at her and hoped it all made sense to her. She looked like she was carefully thinking about everything he had just told her.
"Daddy, is it my fault that both my mommies are dead?"
Deeks was shocked, he did not expect that.
"Why do you think that?" was all he managed to squeak out.
"Well, I was with my first mommy and she died and then I was here and mommy died. Maybe I'm no good for mommies." She mumbled and hung her had to look at her hands in her lap.
Engulfing her in a big hug, he pulled her in his lap.
"Don't you dare think like that. It was not your fault that your first mommy was in an accident and it was not your fault that a bad man took mommy and it wasn't your fault that she died either. You had nothing to do with that."
He kissed her forehead.
"So mommy didn't leave because she doesn't love me?" Sophia asked in a small voice.
"No both your mommies loved you very much, princess. Where is all this coming from?"
When she didn't answer him, he took her chin and angled her face so she would look at him.
"Soph?"
She sighed. "Simon said that I don't have a mommy because she doesn't love me and left."
He wanted to kill that Simon for saying things like that. He made a mental note to call his parents and talk to them.
"Oh honey, that is not true. They love you both very much and I bet they keep and eye on you from heaven."
"But Daddy, you said that the police had brought me to you after mommy was taken, so she doesn't even know that I'm here with you. How can she love me when she doesn't know me?"
Deeks thought about the pictures of him and Sophia that they found in that good awful place. He wouldn't tell her about that yet. She was too young and it would be to confusing.
"She knows about you. Believe me she really does. I'll tell you about when you're older. Just trust me that she knows you're and she loves you. I mean you love her and you don't really know her right?"
She nodded against his chest. "Can we go home daddy? I'm tired."
He hugger her again and got up to walk home. January really was no easy month for them.
