LOST IN TIME PART 1

"So, Amy, how have you been lately? I mean if we ignore the fact that you're currently lost in your own past of course," Shakespeare said as he led Amy and Julia into the Globe Theatre.

"Well up until now I was doing pretty well. It could be worse though. I could have been stranded back in Henry VIII's time. I kind of sort of got married to him. It was completely by accident of course," Amy said sheepishly.

"Wasn't he the one who liked to cut off his wives' heads?" Julia asked in alarm.

"Yes. Apparently he didn't believe in divorce. I didn't stick around long enough to find out if he wanted to do that to me," Amy said.

"The current Queen still remembers you, Amy," Shakespeare said.

"She does? I only knew her for about five minutes," Amy said in surprise.

"Apparently you made a favorable impression on her nonetheless. You actually stood up to her father and lived. Not many people can say that. She told me once that you showed her how to stand up for herself and helped make her into the strong ruler that she is today," Shakespeare said.

"Well, it helps if you can make a quick getaway in a TARDIS. I'm glad that I was able to make such a positive impact on her though," Amy said with a grin.

"Oh, yes. She definitely respects you immensely, and I think that she will help you all that she can," Shakespeare said.

"I'd rather not go around her if it's all the same to you, Will. She does hate the Doctor with a passion after all. How do I know that she won't hold the fact that I'm his lifelong friend against me?" Amy said nervously.

"You have to go and see her, Amy," Shakespeare said.

"No, I don't. I don't want her to even know that I'm here," Amy said.

"About that," Shakespeare said in embarrassment.

"What? You told her that I was here? How could you do that? She might order me and Julia to be beheaded!" Amy said in alarm.

"Nonsense, Amy. She likes you, and she would never do such a thing to you. That was more her father's way of dealing with people to be honest," Shakespeare said.

"Is she coming here?" Amy asked.

"No, she expects you to come and see her. She's expecting you soon. I honestly didn't think that it would be this much of a problem. Honestly, she won't touch a hair on your lovely head," Shakespeare said.

"Really? Then why don't you come along with us to meet her then?" Amy said with an evil smile.

"Oh, I would. I really would but I have a play to do today. She really does like you, Amy. She's talked about you quite a bit over the years with me and told me about what an impression that you made on her. She knows that I know you after all, and she always told me that if I ever were to see you again that I should tell her immediately," Shakespeare said.

"So you told her so that you could stay in good favor with her, didn't you? Never mind what happens to me," Amy said.

"Will you stop, Amy! She's not going to kill you. You're known me for a long time now. Would I ever let anything happen to someone as beautiful as you? I don't lead my friends to their doom, Amy," Shakespeare said.

"Sorry, Will. I know you wouldn't do that. I guess I'm just on edge about being stuck here. More accurately I'm on edge about Julia being stuck here. I really don't like the idea of her living the rest of her life in this time. Oh, and let's get something straight here. You think of me as much more than a friend. You haven't been able to take your eyes off of me since I arrived here. If I wasn't able to pound you into the ground, you'd be all over me despite the fact that I'm married," Amy said.

"That's true unfortunately. I couldn't talk you out of your marriage vows by any chance, could I?" Shakespeare asked eagerly.

"Not a chance. Sorry, Will," Amy said.

"Oh, well. I had to try," Shakespeare said.

"Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. That's like your life's motto, isn't it?" Amy asked with a chuckle.

"Oh, I like that one. I think I'll use it," Shakespeare said.

"No, you can't. That one belongs to someone else," Amy said.

"Really? Whose is it? I pride myself on being very learned, and I've never heard it before," Shakespeare asked curiously.

"He's no one that you will ever know. He won't be born for centuries yet. Forget I even mentioned it," Amy said hurriedly.

Shakespeare shook his head at her and smiled as he said, "You and the future. Always you tease me with such stories of it. If only I could see your time. What wonders I would behold. Then I could go home and write a play about them."

"That's exactly why I never took you to my time. We don't need any extra Shakespeare plays predicting the future messing up the timestream. I had enough problems with that with Jules Verne," Amy said.

Julia looked at Amy in excitement as she said, "You know Jules Verne? I love his books. I used to read Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea all of the time. Was Captain Nemo real? Please tell me he was real! How could you keep that from me, Mum?!"

"I never knew that you were such a Jules Verne fangirl, Julia. I promise if I ever get us back to the TARDIS, I'll take you to meet Jules Verne," Amy said.

"YES!" Julia screamed with joy and caused everyone in the theatre to look at her in puzzlement.

"Sorry," Julia said.

"Who is this Jules Verne of whom you speak?" Shakespeare asked confused.

"He's someone else who hasn't been born yet. He used to travel with me for a while before I was Amy Pond. Forget about him," Amy said.

"Jules Verne traveled with you? You are the coolest mum ever!" Julia said in excitement.

"Thanks. I guess I'm cool by association then, huh?" Amy said with a chuckle.

"No, you were always cool. Now you're just even cooler," Julia said.

"How can she be cool? It seems as though she should be perspiring to me. It is a very hot day after all," Shakespeare said confused.

Julia groaned and said, "I knew I never liked Shakespeare. I always got low grades on him in school."

"I am taught in schools in the future?" Shakespeare said proudly.

"Yeah, yeah! Don't go getting a swelled head about it though, Will. Forget about that too," Amy said.

"If I forgot everything that you told me to, Fair Amelia, I would never remember a single conversation with you," Shakespeare joked.

"Maybe that's just as well. I suppose I should go meet the Queen now. When am I supposed to see her?" Amy asked.

"There's no need. There she is now. This is incredible. She never comes here," Shakespeare said in surprise.

"Maybe she's an Amy Pond fangirl," Julia suggested hopefully.

"I hope so. I think," Amy said.

Queen Elizabeth I came running into the Globe with a look of absolute terror on her face at first, but it quickly turned to one of hope when she saw Amy. She began to smile nervously as she said, "Lady Amelia, I'm so glad that you're here. My dear Will here has told me many stories of your adventures, and I desperately need your help. I am being plagued by a doppleganger."

"A doppleganger?" Amy asked as she had unpleasant flashbacks to the Gangers and how Jennifer Lucas' ganger almost killed her, Rory, and the Doctor.

"I really hope that this isn't the same kind of Ganger that I've run into before. This seems to be like old home week for me lately. First the fish vampires and now this," Amy said.

"So you've dealt with these fiends before then?" Elizabeth asked.

"I've certainly dealt with evil doubles trying to kill me before, yes. I don't know whether they're the same ones that you're facing or not though," Amy said.

"They must be because my double is trying to kill me. She wants to take my place and rule over England. She's been everywhere that I go lately. She waits until I'm alone, and then she strikes. No one but me has ever seen her, and so I dare not tell anyone but you and one other about her for fear that they would think me mad and try to take away my crown," Elizabeth said as she looked over her shoulder fearfully.

"It may not be the Gangers that I know. It could be a Rutan, an android, or even an Auton. Autons," Amy said with a faraway look in her eye.

"What about them?" Julia asked.

"It's just that Rory is probably somewhere nearby even now still guarding the Pandorica with a past version of me still inside of it. I wish I knew where he was. At least I'd be able to see him in some way," Amy said with a sad look on her face.

"We'll get back to him, Mum," Julia said with a small smile on her face.

Amy smiled back at her as she said, "I know that we will."

"Master Shakespeare has told me all about your plight, Lady Amelia. I'll do all that I can to help you if you will help me get rid of this horrible double that keeps plaguing me," Elizabeth said.

"You've got a deal, Your Majesty. So do you want me to go home with you then? Is that where this doppleganger keeps showing up the most?" Amy asked.

"Yes, mostly. If you and your daughter will accompany me back in my carriage, I would very much appreciate it," Elizabeth said as she looked around her in fear.

"You just saw it recently, didn't you?" Amy asked.

"Yes, just fifteen minutes ago right in the middle of my bedroom. I raced out and went to collect you as soon as I saw it. Help me vanquish it, and I will give you anything that you desire if it is within my power," Elizabeth said.

"I just want to go back to my family," Amy said sadly.

"I will do what I can," Elizabeth promised her again as she took her hand in hers.

"Thanks," Amy said.

As Amy and Julia reached Elizabeth's carriage, Elizabeth said, "Oh, yes. I forgot to tell you. I have a special guest staying with me. I asked her to come with me because she is the only other person who I trust. She reminds me a great deal of you as a matter of fact. She is very strong just like you are even though she doesn't possess your fiery mane. She even claims to have traveled through time just as you have."

"Really? I'd really like to meet her then. I really hope that she doesn't turn out to be just a huge liar," Amy said eagerly.

"Well, that depends. I've been known to tell a few whoppers in my time, but no one's ever dared to call me a liar before at least not to my face anyway. Maybe that's because of my cheerful attitude," a very familiar voice to Amy said from inside the carriage.

River Song stepped out of the carriage dressed in a fancy dress typical of the Elizabethan era complete with a huge collar. She grinned at Amy as she said, "Don't you say a word about how I'm dressed."

"Melody!" Amy said as she hugged River tightly and began to cry.

"I take it that you're happy to see me, then?" River said with a grin.

"Melody? I know her as the Princess Donna Noble of Freedonia," Elizabeth said in confusion.

"Donna Noble?" Amy asked in amusement.

"It was the first name that came to mind," River said.

"She's going to kill you if she ever finds out," Amy said.

"Let her try," River said with a devilish glint in her eye.

"How did you know that I was here?" Amy asked.

"You told me," River said as she held out an incredibly old letter that looked like it was about to fall to pieces that was in Amy's handwriting.

"I saw this in a museum in the 51st century, and I just had to have it. I borrowed it from them for a while," River said.

"I'll have to remember to write that later. You'll keep it for me in your own collection of letters won't you, Your Majesty?" Amy asked.

"Of course. It's an amazing story. This is a letter that you haven't written yet, but it's already here with us now. Very strange," Elizabeth said in amazement.

"It happens a lot in my world. Weird is my stock in trade. I'm so glad that you're here, River. We'll just help the Queen and then go back to the 40s to get the others," Amy said.

"About that," River said as she pulled out yet another old letter.

"Oh, no! What trouble did they get into?" Amy asked with a sigh.

Back in the 1940s, Selene wrestled with Rosanna over the osmic projector while Rory fought off an entire army of Saturnynines in an attempt to keep them away from her. Sirona and Brian meanwhile were cut off from both of them by the enormous fight that had broken out between the aliens and the soldiers. Neither of them dared to get into the middle of it with the huge amounts of bullets that were suddenly flying around.

That didn't stop Brian from trying though. Despite the danger to himself, he still wanted to wade right into the middle of the fight to help Rory.

Sirona had to grab him and physically restrain him as she said, "Hold on a minute, Brian. I may be a Time Lord but you're not. You're not going in there. My Mum would kill me if anything happened to you."

"Rory is caught in the middle of that mess though and so is your aunt. We have to do something," Brian protested.

"Maybe I could surround them with the TARDIS. Of course we'll also be getting the head of the fish vampires, but it's still worth a try. Come on," Sirona said as she dragged Brian back to the TARDIS with her.

"You might as well give up now, Time Lord. It's all over for your sister. She's lost forever to you. You might as well accept it. You're never going to see her again," Rosanna said to Selene.

"I don't think so. She's been lost before, and I still found her again. If I could find her then after such a long time, then I can find her now. There's no way that I'm letting anyone keep me from either of my sisters ever again especially not a jumped up piece of seafood with delusions of grandeur," Selene said as she punched Rosanna in the jaw and took the projector from her.

"Can you find Amy and Julia's location with that?" Rory asked as he continued to fight with the fish vampires.

"It looks like she's in London in the late Elizabethan era. I don't have an exact time yet though," Selene said.

"Great. Shakespeare's probably hitting on her even as we speak," Rory said with a groan.

"He's also getting shot down or worse," Selene reminded him.

"I know but I still don't like it. Why is it everywhere that we go major historical figures are always hitting on my wife?" Rory asked in frustration.

"It's just who she is. She's always had that problem. The other Time Lords used to fight over back at the Academy. She never encouraged it. It just sort of happened. Everyone loves her," Selene admitted.

Rory smiled as he thought about how lucky he was to have been the one to marry her. Then he became sad as he feared that he might never find her again.

"I've got it. I know the exact date that they arrived now. Get ready, Rory. I'm sending you back there," Selene said.

"I don't think so," Rosanna said as she suddenly grabbed Selene from behind and tossed her to the ground next to Rory.

She picked up the projector where it had fallen when Selene was attacked and quickly aimed it at Selene. "Say good bye, Time Lord. I hope you like French food," Rosanna said as she fired the projector at her.

"No!" Rory said as he tried to pull Selene to safety. Unfortunately he was caught in the beam of the projector with her too, and they both vanished at once!

"Oh, that's just great!" Sirona said as she watched this happen on the monitor in the TARDIS.

"Now they're gone too. What do we do now?" Brian asked.

"I wish I knew. There's no way that we can get to the projector in the middle of that fight. We'll be shot long before we get there," Sirona said in despair.

Rosanna laughed as she thought about how pleased that the Cybermen would be. They wanted both of their greatest enemies, Amy and the Doctor, out of the way before they launched their coming grand offensive to upgrade all of time and space.

They would especially be grateful that the dreaded Cliodna was gone. They were so terrified of her that they had hired Rosanna to confront her instead of using one of their own in exchange for the promise of giving them a new world of their own once they took over the galaxy. Not that Rosanna believed their promises because the Cybermen were notorious for lying to aliens. She just wanted the chance to gain her revenge. She would have gladly done that for free.

Rosanna smiled as she heard the sound of another TARDIS materializing. She looked at the familiar blue box with satisfaction. He was finally here at last. She knew that the Doctor would come. Now her revenge would finally be complete.

Meanwhile back in what Selene sensed was the 1860s, she and Rory suddenly materialized on board what looked for all of the world to be a submarine! They were quickly surrounded by several sailors, and then a man who was obviously the captain of the ship confronted them in anger.

"Who are you? How did you get on my ship? I demand that you tell us now!" the man shouted.

"It's okay, Captain. I know one of them or at least I think that I do. Hello, Selene," another man said with a French accent.

"Hello, Jules," Selene said.

"Jules?" Rory asked.

"Rory Williams, meet Jules Verne. He used to travel with me and Amy in the old days. I presume that this is Captain Nemo, and we're on the Nautilus?" Selene asked in excitement.

"Yes to both questions, my old friend," Verne said with a warm smile.

"Julia is going to be so jealous when I tell her about this," Selene said with a grin.

"She is? She likes Jules Verne?" Rory asked.

"More like she's obsessed with him! Why do you think that I call her Jules? I call her that because she's an enormous Jules Verne fangirl. Wait till she's finds out about this. I'm so going to rub this in her face," Selene said with a huge grin.

"What is a fangirl?" Verne asked in confusion.

"You'll find out. You just wait, Jules. My little sister will be here annoying you with endless praise and adoration before you know it," Selene said happily.

Rory smiled. He realized that he had to remain as hopeful as Selene was. They would see Amy and Julia again. He knew it in his heart.

He could never allow himself to believe anything else.

Next: It's going to be very busy in the next chapter as it spans three different time periods. Amy, Julia, and River confront the doppleganger of Queen Elizabeth I. What exactly is it and what does it want? Meanwhile Selene and Rory get caught up in an adventure of their own involving Captain Nemo and Jules Verne. Will they ever get back home? Finally in the 1940s, it's the Doctor, Clara, Sirona, and Brian in a rematch with Rosanna and the fish vampires to save Winston Churchill!
