THE ANGELS TAKE THE PONDS PART 2

As soon as they were plunged into darkness, Amy closed her eyes and listened for the sound of heavy footsteps as opposed to normal ones. She then used this to guide her as she began firing the gun that River had given to her at the Angels. Each time the gun fired its blast lit up the area, and she could briefly see where the Angels were in relation to her for a half a second. She then quickly memorized the location of each and every one of them before firing at those very spots in rapid succession just as soon as the glow from the gun going off faded away.

Stay exactly where you are so that I don't wind up shooting you too, Rory. Amy warned telepathically while she did this.

You don't have to worry about that. I can't see a thing anything. I don't know how the rest of you are even fighting. Rory replied back.

I don't know about the others but I had to grow used to fighting in the dark very quickly. At one point when I was attacking Telos for the last time, I . . . Well, let's just say that I had to regenerate after that if I wanted to be able to see again. Amy answered in a sad tone.

And you still beat them? Rory asked in shock.

That's how determined and angry that I was when I thought that I had lost everything. I wasn't going down until I took the Cybermen down first. Luckily I survived. Amy responded.

I hope that your luck holds up today too. Rory replied as he shivered.

Me too. Amy answered in a slightly nervous tone.

As Amy continued to fire on all of the Angels around her as fast as she could, she actually started choking on all of the stone dust that was now swirling through the air from all of the Angels that she and the others had completely disintegrated. All of them working together soon managed to make a huge dint in the massive Angel army in the room with them. Even after having done that though, it still seemed as if they had no true chance of winning as they were still far outnumbered by the massive army that was left even after the slaughter that had just occurred.

Even though they continued to fight on for several hours, there was still no end in sight to this battle as the Angels continued to pour into the room more and more by the moment. There literally seemed to be an endless supply of them arriving each moment to replenish their ranks. She was beginning to feel like this was Telos all over again. She had been all alone then and had had to fight for almost a week before she finally won and wiped out most of the planet.

She really hoped that history wasn't repeating itself here. Maybe this time with the help of the others things would be different. She would have to coordinate things herself in order to make sure of it.

"This isn't working, people. We're going to have to fight smarter in order to keep from being here forever. Does anybody have a plan on how to do that because I really don't want to spend a month here fighting wave after wave of Angels?" Amy asked the others while they fought.

"Well, I do have something in mind, but I really wasn't sure how you'd feel about it, Pond ," The Doctor answered in a hesitant tone.

"At this point, I'm willing to try anything, Doctor. Tell me what you had in mind. I'm sure it's completely crazy if even you're hesitant to do it, but I'm desperate, Raggedy Man," Amy said.

"Oi! It's not crazy. I just didn't want you to get angry at me for suggesting it," The Doctor said.

"You're surrounded by an army of Angels large enough to wipe out this whole planet, and you're worried about me?" Amy asked.

"Yes," The Doctor said without hesitation.

Amy smiled evilly as she said, "Good. That means that I haven't lost my reputation after all. You don't have to worry about my temper this time though. I'm serious. I need a plan. Hit me with it, Doctor. What is it?"

"We've already established that the Angels are more interested in getting rid of you and Rory than they are at attacking humanity so why not give them what they want?" The Doctor asked.

"What?" Amy asked in surprise.

The Doctor then explained his plan telepathically to her and she said, "That's pretty risky. Are you sure that it'll work?"

"It should. Even if it doesn't, Rose should still be able to make sure that this whole thing has a happy ending," The Doctor said.

"So far you're not exactly inspiring a whole lot of confidence in me, Doctor. I have to tell you that I really don't like this plan so far," Amy said.

"That's why I didn't want to tell it to you," The Doctor said.

"Well, for once you made a good call. I can't think of anything better though so it looks like I'm going to have to go through with it. What if they continue attacking Earth even after we go through with this stupid plan though? Then it will have all been for nothing," Amy said.

"I've already thought of that, Amy. Without the two of you and your family here, Rose and River will finally be able to cut loose at last. You do realize that they're holding back don't you?" The Doctor said.

Amy briefly looked around the room to see massive damage everywhere and hundreds of Angels lying in pieces everywhere.

"If this is what you call holding back, I'm glad that I won't be here. I kind of thought River was a little off in her fighting though. Usually her enemies scream a whole lot more," Amy said.

"Angels don't scream, Amelia," The Doctor said.

"You know what I mean, Doctor, and there you go calling me Amelia. I knew it. You're worried about this plan too," Amy said.

"Of course I am, Pond. I don't know what I'd do if . . ." The Doctor said before his voice cracked and he found himself unable to finish that sentence.

"Hopefully you won't have to worry about it, Raggedy Man. Besides I'm a Time Lady again so even if the worst does happen I should be able to come up with some way out of it," Amy said.

The Doctor gave her a worried look as he said, "I hope so."

Then without thinking, he suddenly embraced Amy and kissed her forehead. River just managed to keep an Angel from touching him by blowing it to bits seconds before it could reach him.

"Keep your eyes on the Angels, Doctor. It's lucky for you that I saw that one reflected in my blaster fire or you'd be who knows where right now," River said as she gave the Doctor a good tongue lashing.

"Excuse me for being more worried about your mother and father than some stupid boring old Weeping Angels," The Doctor said pouting.

"History won't repeat itself this time, Doctor. We'll make sure of it. I already lived through that in the other timeline and I won't ever let it happen again. Trust me on that,' River said as she tried to reassure both the Doctor and her mother at the same time.

"Amelia, are you sure about this? Rose may have a better plan. I just haven't had time to ask her yet," The Doctor said still not sure despite River's words.

"Let's just do this, Doctor. We're running out of time. I'll tell Rory about it and if he agrees with it, I'll give you a thumbs up, okay?" Amy asked.

Then she added in a low voice, "I love you too, Raggedy Man."

The Doctor smiled and nodded as Amy went to Rory and explained the plan to him. Rory was less than supportive of it at first (in fact he was absolutely terrified) and then admitted that he couldn't think of anything better either. Amy finally gave the Doctor a thumbs up to let him know that she was going through with it, and then she called her TARDIS on her cell phone to tell them about it.

"What is it, Amy? Do you need some help? I would have already been out there, but I was afraid that I'd just make things worse. I mean it's pretty obvious that Melody's holding back because you and Rory are out there. I haven't heard much screaming at all," Selene said after she answered the phone in the Console Room.

After Amy explained the Doctor's plan to her, Selene immediately said, "Are you nuts? Not one of you could come up with something better than that? Just wait and think of something else, Amy."

"There's no time. There are more and more Angels coming here by the minute. We have to stop them now before we're all killed. Selene, I just want to say that . . . I love you," Amy said.

"No, don't start that stuff with me, Cliodna. You're coming back. That's all that there is to it. I won't accept any other outcome. Do you understand?" Selene said in an emotional voice as she tried and failed to sound unconcerned by the whole thing.

"Selene, what's wrong? Let me talk to Mum," Julia said.

"No, don't hand the phone to her, Selene. If I talk to her, I won't be able to do this. I'll break down," Amy said quickly.

"Just do it, Amy. Do it and then you come back to me! Do you hear me?" Selene ordered.

"Yes, sir. Now dematerialize and get out of there. This building's not going to be a very safe place to be soon," Amy said.

"I will. Clio?" Selene said.

"Yeah?" Amy asked.

"I love you too. If you tell anyone that I said that I'll deny it though," Selene whispered and then she hung up.

"Why didn't you let me talk to her? What is she planning on doing?" Julia said as she began to cry.

"It's going to be alright, Jules. Everything's going to be fine. Just remember that she loves you," Selene said.

"What's happening?" Julia said in an upset voice.

"Sleep, sweetie," Selene said as she put her index finger on Julia's forehead and instantly put her to sleep.

"Is she doing what I think she's doing?" Sirona asked in a sad voice.

Selene nodded as she said, "She'll be alright though. I mean Rose is there so she'll be alright, right?"

"That's right, Selene. She'll be fine," Karen said as she tried her best to look confident of that.

She failed miserably because her face clearly showed that she didn't believe that either.

"Are they sure about this?" Brian asked in a worried voice.

"As sure as they'll ever be I think. Let's go. Hopefully we'll be back together with both of them in no time," Selene said as she dematerialized the TARDIS.

As her TARDIS left, Amy said to Rory, "Okay, it's time. Now remember we're going to hold hands while we do this, okay? You won't let go of my hand no matter what, alright?"

Rory nodded as he said, "We're going to do this together. Then no matter what happens at least we'll have each other."

"Now don't talk like we're defeated already, Stupid Face. Everything's going to be just fine," Amy said.

Then she kissed him as she said, "I love you, Rory."

"I love you too," Rory said looking very unsure of all of this.

Then they grabbed each other's hand tightly, took a deep breath, and ran toward the nearest Angel that they could see as it was briefly illuminated by blaster fire. The Angel made that horrible sound that Amy knew was its version of laughter, and then she felt it touch her.

Just as it did so though, she felt an explosion go off nearby that suddenly wrenched Rory away from her. She vanished just as she lost her hold on his hand!

"No!" Amy screamed in horror as she found herself in a new time and place all by herself.

Rory meanwhile also found himself alone in another time, but it wasn't for long. He was immediately knocked out cold from behind before he could even get a proper look at where he was.

"I'm so glad that I found you first. Now you're finally mine at last," The person who had struck Rory said.

Meanwhile even as Rory was being taken away by his mysterious assailant, Amy sighed in relief as her TARDIS immediately appeared around her. Her sense of relief immediately turned to alarm as she saw that Rory wasn't there.

"Where's Rory?" Amy said.

"I'll find him. Don't worry. I found you after all," Selene said.

"Mum, what just happened? No one told me anything! Where's Dad?" A newly awakened Julia asked as she ran to Amy and immediately wrapped her arms around her tightly and refused to let go.

"I'm sorry, sweetie. My plan was for the Angels to touch me and Dad and send us back in time together. Then your sister could find us both by using these tracking devices that the Doctor gave us. She's found me but she's still looking for Dad. Don't worry. He'll be here soon," Amy said as she kissed Julia's cheek and hugged her.

"He'd better be if he knows what's good for him," She added under her breath after a relieved Julia finally let her go and walked out of earshot.

The TARDIS phone rang and Amy instantly answered it hoping that it was Rory. She almost cursed out loud when it turned out to be the Doctor instead.

"Pond, you made it! I'm so glad that it worked. I really wasn't sure about that one. Usually my plans are all pretty much perfect and totally cool, but that one was definitely a bit iffy. It looks like it all turned out all right in the end though, and you'll be glad to know that Rose and River are really going at it with the Angels now. They're tearing Blink Publishing completely apart! On a side note, this means that you won't be getting a pound from your book now. Sorry about that. Maybe I can see if I can find you another publisher. I'm sure that someone will want to read it somewhere. It's not that bad. I actually made it to page 2 before I got bored and fell asleep. I got bored easily though so I'm not really anyone to judge it by. I remember once when I . . ." The Doctor babbled.

"Raggedy Man, I swear that I will knock you straight into your next regeneration if you don't shut up! We haven't found Rory yet. Can you detect him?" Amy asked in an extremely distraught voice as she finally interrupted him.

The Doctor immediately became serious as he said, "I'm sorry, Amy. I didn't realize that he wasn't there. I'll look for his signal. You're not getting anything at all from his tracking device?"

Amy looked at Selene who shook her head. She tried not to start crying as she said, "No, nothing. I don't understand what could have happened."

"We will find him, Amy. Even if the tracking device isn't working, Rose will find him. It's going to be alright," The Doctor said as he tried to reassure her.

"He has to be. I won't accept anything else," Amy said.

That was when Rose teleported next to the Doctor and whispered, "I can't find him either. Don't tell her yet. I'll keep looking."

The Doctor looked at her in shock as she added in a reassuring tone, "It could just be temporal distortion or some other kind of interference blocking my powers. It might even be that there's Vortex shielding where he's at now. As soon as he gets away from it, I'll find him though."

The Doctor frowned but tried to put a smile in his voice as he said, "Rose just said . . ."

"Don't lie to me, Doctor. I heard what she said. I always did have good hearing in all of my incarnations. I just hope that it's just something blocking his signal temporarily and not something else going on," Amy said.

"Yes, I thought that too. It could be deliberate," The Doctor admitted.

"That's what I'm afraid of. Someone found him before we did. Someone who doesn't want us to get him back. If it's who I think it is, then she and I are going to have a very long talk when I finally track her down. I will track her down too, Doctor. You can believe me on that," Amy said in a cold tone.

"You don't know that it's her, Amy," Rose said as she took the phone.

"Oh, yes I do. This has got her fingerprints all over it. I can feel it," Amy said in a furious voice.

"Who, Mum? Who has Dad?" Julia asked.

The answer to that question could be found on a ship that was at that very moment making its way back to its own time from the far distant past. It had picked up Rory's signal instantly and immediately went back for him before Amy's TARDIS could get there.

The captain of this ship now walked into a darkened bedroom and turned the light. She smiled as Rory woke up and looked at her in confusion.

"What's going on? How did I get here?" Rory asked.

"Don't you remember, sweetheart? You were separated from me and sent back in time by those awful Weeping Angels who ambushed us. You're okay now though, Rory. My crew and I found you just as soon as you went back. You're safe now, dear. You're just a little tired from the exertion of being sent away. Get some rest and you'll feel completely better soon," The woman said.

"Yes, honey. I'll do that," Rory said.

Then he looked at her with concern as he asked, "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, darling. Just get some sleep. I love you, Rory," The woman said.

"I love you too, Jennifer," Rory said as he immediately went back to sleep with a peaceful smile on his face.

Jennifer Lucas gave him a tender kiss as she smiled in triumph. She finally had him at last, and it had all been so simple.

It had started out as an accident as her ship had picked up Rory's signal and instantly recognized it as Time Lord technology. She had immediately used the ship given to her and the Gangers by the War Lords to go back in time to track the source of the signal down. She had hoped to find something useful that could aid her cause to overthrow the humans of her time.

Instead she found something much more valuable to her. She had found Rory and instantly knocked him out cold as she crushed his tracking device under her boot. Luckily her ship had Vortex shielding so none of Amy's powerful friends could find him either with those super senses of theirs.

She had then discovered what had happened to Rory by his ramblings in his sleep and then carefully inserted herself in his memories as his wife instead of Amy. The new and improved Retcon of her time could definitely work wonders on restructuring a person's memories. Now Rory was totally convinced that she was the love of his life and always had been. She had even dyed her head red and wore a short skirt to make sure that he accepted her in place of Amy.

"Mrs. Jennifer Williams. I like it. Yes, I think that'll work out just fine," Jennifer said with a pleased look on her face as she kissed Rory's forehead and briefly ran her fingers through his hair.

"Good night, my love," Jennifer said as she turned out the lights and closed the door.

"Good night, Amy," Rory muttered in his sleep after she left.

Meanwhile even as Amy was pulling her hair out trying to find Rory and the Doctor, Rose, and River were bringing Blink Publishing and the remaining Weeping Angels to their knees, Marissa had finally discovered the truth about Idunn's real identity at last. She immediately went to tell the anxious girl the news and discovered her literally shaking with nervous anticipation.

"Marissa, do you know who I am now? Please tell me that you know," Idunn pleaded in a shaking voice.

Marissa smiled as she said, "Welcome home, Idunn Lungbarrow."

Idunn looked at her with a face filled with joy as she said, "Are you sure? I thought you said that I was stealing her identity or something like that."

"It turns out that Rory was right, Idunn. You were actually stealing back your own identity. You really must have sensed Amy's TARDIS somehow and brought it to you in order to save yourself," Marissa said.

"Are you really sure? How do you know?" Idunn asked.

"I did several tests on your biodata and on your genes. I also tested your timestream. All of those have been heavily corrupted by your accident, but I was able to find just enough evidence to prove that you really are Idunn," Marissa said.

"Thank you, Mari!" Idunn said as she hugged her.

"Don't thank me too soon. You're still not out of the woods yet, Idunn. You still don't have most of your memories, and I can't see your face yet. You're going to have a long way to go to reestablish your identity again, and I have to warn you that you may never completely recover. I'm sorry," Marissa said.

Idunn's face fell but she tried to remain hopeful as she said, "There's still a chance that I'll be myself again someday though, right?"

"Yes, a very good chance because your body is actively trying to repair the damage done to it. I think that you just might be able to do it, Idunn. It's going to take a while though," Marissa said.

Idunn smiled again as she said, "That's all I needed to hear. Can I go back home . . . I mean back to Amy and Rory now?"

Marissa smiled at her slip-up as she said, "Yeah, I'll call them right away to set up a time for them to meet you. Don't feel bad about that little slip, Idunn. I have a feeling that they already think of you as a part of their family."

Then after Marissa called Amy and received the bad news about Rory, she told Idunn who said, "Maybe I can help find him."

"How?" Marissa asked in surprise.

"You said that I was in everyone's minds as I tried to establish my identity, right? Well, maybe you could somehow see if I still have a presence in Rory's mind and use that to help us find him! Do you think that could work?" Idunn asked hopefully.

Marissa smiled as she said, "That's brilliant! It just might work, Idunn. Let me call Amy. I know she'll want to hear more about this."

Idunn smiled. She only hoped that this worked. It was the least that she could do for the people who had taken her in and given her a home when by all rights they could have just killed her for attacking them.

She owed them everything and she was going to make sure that Amy got Rory back if it was the last thing that she did.

Next: Can Idunn's plan actually work and help Amy find Rory? Even if it does, will she be able to get Rory back from Jennifer and restore his rightful memories to him? Plus the final fate of the Angels on Earth will be shown at last and there will be more on the plans of the Angels on Gallifrey for the House of Brightshore.
