HERE'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SEPARATE AMY FROM RORY
"What's Mum up to? Why won't she come out of her workshop?" Julia asked Selene as she realized that Amy had been in there for over an hour ever since Marissa had told her that Idunn might be the key to finding Rory.
Selene smiled as she said, "If I had to guess, I'd say that she's building weapons, Jules. She's positive that Jennifer Lucas has Rory, and when she finds her she's going after her with a whole new bag of tricks so that she doesn't almost kill her like she did last time. Old Jennifer has a few surprises waiting for her this time I bet."
"Amy's making weapons? That doesn't sound like her. She usually doesn't use any kind of weapon which is ironic considering how Melody turned out," Brian said with a small smile.
"You're right, Brian. Amy's peaceful by nature and doesn't like to use lethal force. She always has been that way. That doesn't mean that she's not going to go onboard the Ganger ship with all guns blazing in order to get Rory back though. You look bothered by that. Don't worry. She won't kill Jennifer or anyone else unless she has no other choice. She's too much of a goody goody at heart," Selene reassured him.
"I'd be more worried about Melody than Amy. She told me that she if Amy couldn't find Rory soon that she was going after him herself," Karen said in an ominous tone.
"I don't even want to think about what might happen then. I still can't believe that little Mels became so deadly. She was always sweet despite the trouble that she often got into growing up," Brian said with an unsettled look on his face.
"Never let her hear you say that, Brian. I agree with you though. She is sweet to her family. It's everyone else that has to watch out," Sirona said with a grin.
"Why are we still in the Vortex anyway? Why aren't we picking up Idunn? I thought that was where we were going," Julia asked.
"We are. I just wanted to spend a little time armoring up first. I'm not like I'm keeping Idunn waiting though, Julia. We'll be there just when I said that we would. This is a time machine after all. Unlike some people who failed their driving test about a billion times, I can actually appear right when I say that I will in it," A voice that sounded more mechanical than human said as a menacing armored figure that looked like a Cyberman on steroids left the workshop.
"Mum, what are you doing? You look like a Cyberman ate you," Julia said laughing.
"I've learned a few tricks from the Cybermen, Julia. I've created a suit of armor for myself that includes technology that I've picked up here and there including some from the Cybermen, the Time Lords, the Daleks, and the Silence," Amy said.
"Wow! You're like Iron Woman, aren't you?" Julia said in a proud voice.
"Yeah, I guess I kind of am. I'm way cooler than Tony Stark though," Amy said with a chuckle.
"Oh, definitely, Mum," Julia said as she hugged her.
Suddenly Amy's image changed and she looked and sounded like her normal self once more as she said, "There. I switched my shimmer on so that I at least look like myself again. That's more like it. I think that I should leave the fact that I'm wearing this as a complete surprise for Ganger Lady."
Brian touched her arm and looked surprised as he said, "I can't believe it. That feels just like flesh. It would completely fool me if I didn't know any better."
"Yeah, it's just that good, Brian. It's designed to fool most species' senses completely. I've never felt so proud of myself for something that I made in my life. This is my masterpiece," Amy said smugly.
Brian noticed that her smile seemed more than a little bit forced though and realized immediately that she was putting on a brave face in front of them. He might never have known Cliodna but he knew Amy Pond. He watched her grow up and had known her all of her life, and he knew when she was deeply upset about something and trying her best to hide it. Now was definitely one of those times.
"Amelia, he's going to be alright," Brian said in a gentle tone.
Amy's mask finally started to crack and her voice filled with emotion as she said, "How can you know that? How can you sound so sure of that?"
"I don't. I just believe in you. If anyone can get him back you can, Amelia. I've known ever since you were a little girl that whenever you wanted something bad enough you always found a way to make it happen. Your father used to call you his Impossible Girl because of that," Brian said with a warm smile.
"Yeah, I'd better not use that anymore, Brian. I don't want Clara to come after me for copyright infringement," Amy said with a little laugh.
"Let her try. She'll have to face the full fury of Darth Amy if she does," Selene said with an evil smile.
"I prefer to call myself Iron Amy, thanks," Amy joked.
"Amy, I can't help but feel a little uneasy about you wearing that. Are you sure that you've deactivated any hidden traps in the Cybermen's technology?" Oisin asked.
"This isn't their technology. It's mine. I reverse engineered it from my knowledge of their tech. I studied them for centuries so it's easy for me to recreate it so that it's completely safe for me to use," Amy reassured him.
"I hope so," Oisin said still not convinced about that apparently.
"You worry too much. Captain Crazy is the one that you should be worried about not me especially if she's done something to Rory," Amy said in a cold tone.
That was when she pointed at the console and the TARDIS finally landed as she said, "I put a TARDIS remote in one of my gauntlets so I can make a quick escape if I have to."
"It looks like you've thought of everything, Ames. Did you put a can opener in there too for when we get hungry?" Selene asked.
"No, but I put a stun setting in the gauntlets which I'll definitely use to put you to sleep for a week if you don't shut up," Amy said.
"It might just be worth it," Selene said as she actually seemed to be considering it.
That was when the TARDIS' doors opened and Idunn stepped in with a worried look on her face as she said, "I'm sorry about what happened to Rory, Amy. I've been trying to see if I can sense his thoughts somehow but I can't. Maybe you could link to him through me."
"I'll try," Amy said as she began to reach out to Idunn's mind with her own.
She smiled as she made an effortless connection thanks to her armor amplifying her own natural telepathic abilities. That was a little something that she picked up from studying Rassilon's mind controlling coronet once. All she had to do was look at a piece of technology for a while, and she could completely master it. She had always been able to do that ever since she was a Time Tot.
Come to think of it, she must have even had that ability to some extent when she was human or how else could the now non-existent version of her on Apalapucia have created a sonic probe all on her own?
She temporarily linked to Idunn's mind and quickly searched through it as she tried to find any trace of Rory's mind in Idunn's. She smiled as she finally found him. His presence was very faint but it was definitely him.
Now that she had some kind of contact with him once again she was able to fully reestablish her mental link to him, which had been disrupted thank to the Angels when they had sent them to separate places, and she mentally called out to him immediately. She could feel no sense of recognition at all. There was nothing but puzzlement as he answered back.
Who are you? How did you get in my mind? Rory asked telepathically.
It's me, Amy. I'm your wife. Remember? Amy replied in a worried tone.
Who is this? You're not my wife. I know who my wife is. She's named Jennifer. Jennifer Williams. Rory replied.
White hot fury went through Amy like a knife through hot butter as she screamed both mentally and physically and then she shouted out loud, "I'LL KILL HER! SHE IS SO DEAD!"
"What is it?" Selene asked in alarm as Julia instinctively grabbed her hand and shook with worry.
"I'm sorry, Julia. I didn't mean to scare you," Amy apologized as she dematerialized the TARDIS after putting her hands on the telepathic circuits.
"It's not you that's scaring me. What did she do to Dad?" Julia asked.
"She's tampered with his memories. She has him thinking that she's his wife and that she's known him her whole life. She's replaced me with herself in every single one of our memories together!" Amy said in an outraged voice.
"Can't you fix that? Isn't there some way that you can do some kind of mind trick or something?" Brian asked in concern.
Amy smiled a little despite her current mood as she said, "I'm not a Jedi, Brian. Maybe if I can get in close contact to him though, then maybe I can undo Ganger Lady's influence on him. I hope. Either that or she's going to be your new daughter-in-law. At least she will until I rip her apart with my bare hands anyway."
"You think that you can find him then?" Selene asked.
"Yes, now that I've linked to him again I'm using the TARDIS' telepathic circuits to track him down straight to the soon to be late but unlamented Jennifer Lucas' ship. We should be there right about . . . now," Amy said just as the TARDIS materialized.
Then she raced outside to find Jennifer already waiting for her along with a small army of Gangers.
"So you found him. Don't think that's going to change anything. He's mine now and you're never getting him back. Face it. He's better off with me anyway. I would never call him insulting names like Stupid Face or Mr. Pond like you do. I respect him," Jennifer said as she held a gun to Amy's chest.
"Yeah, I know I always respect like crazy anyone that I kidnap and brainwash into loving me," Amy said sarcastically.
"You don't understand anything. I was saving him . . . from you," Jennifer said.
"Really? Well, tell me this, Jennifer. Who's going to save you from me?" Amy said in a voice filled with uncontrollable anger.
She then began opening fire on the Gangers with alternating attacks of Dalek stun blasts, Cyberman blasters, and Time Lord stasers from her gauntlets which she had designed to perform multiple attacks at once. Then she smiled as she decided to use a little trick that she had stolen from the Silence even as she became invisible with a technology that she had created to copy the natural ability of the Spirodons.
All of the Gangers except for Jennifer suddenly stood staring off into space with blank looks on their faces as one of them said, "What were we doing just now?"
Jennifer looked at them as though they had gone mad as she said, "The Time Lady was just here. She came to get Rory back. You have to stop her."
"What? She was here? When?" A Ganger said as they all looked at her in confusion.
"What did you do to them?" Jennifer called out to the now invisible Amy.
"I told you that no one would help you, Jennifer. In the end, it's always going to come down to just you and me," Amy said as she suddenly showed herself in her true armored form to all of them.
"No," Jennifer said in terror even as Amy used her mimicked Silence ability to hypnotize the other Gangers into leaving.
"You never saw me. I was never here. I'm not the Time Lord you're looking for," Amy said in an amused voice as she waved her hand at them just like Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Maybe Brian was right. Maybe she really was a Jedi after all she thought to herself with amusement.
"Come on. We'll find her elsewhere. Split up and search the ship," The Ganger commander ordered as he and the others immediately ran off.
"Come back! Don't leave me here alone with her!" Jennifer screamed in a terrified voice.
"I told you, Jennifer. It's just us now. Now we'll settle this once and for all," Amy said as she suddenly seized Jennifer by the throat and lifted her off the ground with one hand just before she tossed her into the nearest wall so hard that she made a huge crack in it.
"What's she doing? That's not like her to be so hateful," Julia asked in concern as she watched her on the TARDIS monitor.
"She's angry, Jules. She just stole your father and rewrote his memories. Aren't you angry about that?" Selene asked in surprise.
"Yes, but I don't want her to kill anyone. That's not who she is. She's a hero," Julia said.
"She won't," Selene reassured her.
"Don't be so sure. She's using Cyber technology. It can have a corrupting influence on people by removing their basic sense of right and wrong even those who think that they've mastered it," Oisin warned.
"Amy's had hundreds of years to figure out ways around that. She was always a whiz at technological stuff, remember? She once reprogrammed a Raston Warrior Robot on the fly and saved us all from it back in the old days," Selene said with a fond smile.
"I only hope that you're right," Oisin said.
"She's just as smart as Selene says. Believe me I know because I am too," Karen said with a smug grin.
"Why do you look so worried then?" Oisin asked.
Karen never answered him.
Meanwhile back outside Jennifer had switched into one of her many monstrous forms with large cleavers in place of her hands as she charged at Amy with a scream filled with anger. Amy easily side-stepped her attack and then stuck her with a needle from one of her gauntlets as she passed her by.
Jennifer screamed as she felt like her body was on fire instantly as she said, "What did you do to me, witch?"
"Why I've started your transformation, Jennifer. Does it hurt? Good," Amy said in a heartless voice.
Jennifer collapsed to the ground in pain as she could see herself already starting to change from flesh to metal and she screamed. "You're turning me into a Cyberman!"
"That's right and I'm the only one who can undo it in time to save you. If you want to stay human, then you'll tell me where my husband is! Now!" Amy shouted with the full fury of a Time Lord.
"I won't let you. I won't. I can fight this. I can override it with my own abilities. I am the Flesh! I can remake myself and purge the alien influence from my system," Jennifer said as she closed her eyes in concentration as her body began to shift and transform.
"I'm your only chance to stay human now, Lady. Tell me where he is before it's too late," Amy warned.
"Never!" Jennifer shouted as she suddenly pushed herself out of the Cyber technology in her body like a snake shedding its skin and left it all behind on the floor.
"Okay, I have to admit it. You're good," Amy said with a shocked expression on her face as Jennifer smirked at her in triumph.
"You haven't seen anything yet, Time Lady," Jennifer said as she shifted into a giant snake with huge fangs and used them to suddenly start ripping holes in Amy's armor.
Amy instantly electrified her armor's outer shell but that only served to make Jennifer laugh as she said, "It won't work, Amelia. I'm going to rip that useless armor off of you like tinfoil, and then I'm going to swallow you alive with one gulp. I've always wondered what Time Lords taste like. I guess I'm about to find out at last."
"Not this again! Don't you know any other tricks?" Amy said with a groan.
True to her word, Jennifer used her sharp fangs to start ripping through Amy's armor even as Amy used all of her weapons at once on her to stop her to no effect in her current form. Nothing seemed to be able to even slow the seemingly unstoppable Snake Jennifer down for a single moment.
Amy was now completely stripped of her armor within moments as she stood defenseless while Jennifer began to strangle her in her coils and slowly moved her head towards her getting ready to swallow her at any moment. That was when Amy remembered that she was still wearing her helmet. The same helmet that magnified her own natural mental abilities.
She reached into Jennifer's mind and asked, "Did you ever wonder what being able to see all of time felt like, Jennifer? Let me show you."
Jennifer's mind exploded with possibilities now as she could suddenly see Time in all of its majesty and wonder as a myriad of infinite timelines and possibilities spread out before her like some sort of psychedelic roadmap that she couldn't even begin to decipher. She could see it all now: the past, the present, and every possible permutation of the future not only for her and Amy but also for Rory and the entire crew of the TARDIS as well.
"No. Stop! I can't . . . It's too much to take in. My mind can't take it. It hurts, Amelia. Please! Take it back!" Jennifer pleaded.
Amy only smiled in response as Jennifer screamed, "Get out of my head!"
"Now do you see? In every timeline that Rory and I share, even the alternate timelines, what do you see?" Amy asked.
"I can't take it," Jennifer whimpered.
"WHAT DO YOU SEE?!" Amy screamed.
"He's with you. In every single timeline no matter what, he's with you! He always winds up with you," Jennifer said in a whimper.
"See? Even the universe itself knows the truth: Amy Pond and Rory Williams are always meant to be together. Always!" Amy said in triumph.
"I truly do love him. I . . . I'm so alone," Jennifer admitted in tears.
Amy's eyes softened and she instantly withdrew from Jennifer's mind. Then she knocked the still weakened Jennifer out with one blow after finding out where Rory was from her mind. As she looked at her lying there unconscious though, a cold logic began to fill her mind that told her not to just leave her alone. It told her that she should kill her in order to protect Rory.
It was only logical after all.
"It's starting!" Oisin said as he recognized the signs immediately from how Amy was acting.
He raced out of the TARDIS as he shouted, "Amy, take the helmet off! Now! The Cyber technology in it is starting to control you!"
Amy looked at him in surprise for a moment as if she didn't recognize him and said, "Who are you to question my judgment? You'll be next. Right after her."
"Amy, listen to yourself! This isn't you. Fight it!" Oisin shouted.
Amy put her hands to her head and screamed in pain as she struggled with every bit of willpower that she had to regain control of herself then she finally said, "Yeah, you're right. It came very close too. Maybe emotions are a weakness sometimes. It was using my own anger against me to control me."
She quickly took the helmet off and threw it to the floor. She yelled in momentary pain as a half formed connection from it that had gotten partway into both of her ear canals went along with it.
"Thanks. That was a rookie mistake. I just went a little nuts for a while there when she took Rory from me," Amy said as she hugged him in gratitude.
"A little nuts?" Oisin teased her.
"Shut up. I'll be right back. I know where he is now," Amy said as she raced off to find Rory.
Then Oisin blasted the helmet and every other last trace of Cyber technology with his staser until it was completely disintegrated. That was when he finally sighed in relief at last.
Amy raced down to the end of a long corridor filled with doors. She stopped at the second to last door on the right and opened it to find Rory sitting in a chair watching what looked like a Twenty-Second Century form of television. He looked unharmed if a bit worried at her sudden appearance there.
"It figures. I'm getting my brains bashed out and you're watching television. Typical," Amy joked.
"Who are you?" Rory asked.
"I think you know, Mr. Pond. Take a good long look," Amy said even as she slowly reached out to him through her link with him.
She could feel it through that link as memories began flooding back to Rory now. This time it was the corrected version of those memories with her in them instead of Jennifer. Rory began to smile and that's when she knew that he was finally back at last.
"Amy. My Amy," Rory said as he rushed forward and began to kiss her passionately.
"See, Rory? We belong together. Even the universe knows that," Amy said.
"Who am I to disagree with the universe?" Rory said as he moved forward to kiss her.
"Smart man," Amy replied as she initiated the kiss.
The two of them kissed for several minutes until Amy suddenly pulled away and said, "You kissed her! I see it in your mind!"
"I didn't know who I was then. She brainwashed me," Rory said in a scared voice.
"Well then, I'll just have to do something to wipe that kiss from your mind then won't I? Never worry. More kissing is on the way, Mr. Pond," Amy said as she began kissing him again with even more passion now.
The two of them never even noticed as the TARDIS materialized around them with Selene at the controls. Selene rolled her eyes as she dematerialized and left the Ganger ship far behind.
"Sickening, isn't it?" Selene asked with a sigh.
"I don't know. It looks kind of sweet to me," Sirona said with a smile.
"I suppose so if you like that sort of thing," Selene said with a chuckle.
"Yeah, like you didn't date half of your graduating class at one point or another," Karen teased her.
"Can I help it if I was well-loved?" Selene joked.
"You certainly were from the sound of it," Sirona said.
"You zip it. What is this, an inquisition?" Selene asked in amusement.
"Hello? Is anyone there?" River asked as she appeared on the monitor.
"Melody, he's okay. Amy got him back safe and sound. She totally did the smackdown on Jennifer. You'd be so proud of her," Selene said with a chuckle.
"I suppose she left her alive though," River said with a frown.
"Yeah but she almost didn't," Selene said.
"She's improving. I must be a bad influence on her. Good," River said with a smile.
"I would let you talk to them but they're . . ." Selene said.
"Yeah, I know. They're making out just like always. Don't worry about it. I'm just glad that they're both okay. Tell them that the Angels are all gone here on Earth, and Rose and I have completely dismantled Blink Publishing. It's done with for good. She'll just have to get someone else to publish her book preferably someone who isn't an alien out to destroy all of humanity. I know that there seems to be so many of them out there sometimes, but I'm sure that not all publishers are evil aliens," River said.
"With our luck, I wouldn't doubt it if that did turn out to be true," Karen said.
"What about the Angels in the House of Brightshore? Any word about them?" Selene asked.
"The Doctor warned them but they don't believe him. No surprise there of course. They don't even believe goody two shoes Rose though which just shows how stupid that they are. Everyone knows that Little Mary Sunshine doesn't lie. It's in her contract," River said.
"I'd be tempted to say that they deserve whatever the Angels do to them, but I can't let them destroy my family's House because they're stupid. It looks like we're going to Gallifrey to try to talk some sense into them. Thanks for the heads up, River," Amy said as she finally joined the conversation.
"I'm glad that you're alright, Dad. I love you," River suddenly said.
Rory looked at her in surprise because River never opened up about how she felt. Being with her husband Donald must really be agreeing with her. She seemed much happier these days and more at peace with herself than she had ever been before.
"I love you too, Melody," Rory said with a smile.
"Let's not overdo it. I just . . . I just wanted you to know that I was worried. Don't spread that around though. I have a reputation you know. Good bye, everyone. Let me know if you need me to talk some sense into the House my way," River said with an evil smile.
"I think we prefer them all to stay alive for now, Melody," Amy said.
"Well, if you insist, Mother," River said before signing off.
"That's my girl," Amy said with a laugh.
"So we're going to talk to the Thickersons again are we? Well, this should be fun," Selene said with a sigh.
"I know. I may have to call in River yet," Amy admitted.
Meanwhile even as Amy and her crew headed towards Gallifrey, the Angels who had infiltrated the House of Brightshore were having a secret meeting at that very moment.
"It's decided then. Now that we've finally been given complete control over the finances of the House at last we will sign the controlling interest in the company over to the one person that we've all agreed will be sure to rob the House blind in no time," One of the Angels said.
"That's right. Within the next hour, complete control of the vast fortune belonging to the House of Brightshore will belong to the criminal overlord known as Sil. He will then secretly drain them of all of their resources in no time. It will be a devastating blow to Gallifrey that it will never recover from!" Another Angel said with laughter.
Now all of the Angels laughed in triumph. None of them knew however that they were being listened to by a middle-aged woman with long red hair. She quickly moved away and went to find someone who she hoped would listen to what she had just overheard.
She had no idea how she had gotten here when Gallifrey was supposed to be destroyed or how she had survived dying. None of that mattered at the moment. All that she could think of was one thing.
She hoped that the other Time Lords were a lot easier to talk to than her Raggedy Man.
Next: Can Amy stop the Angels from destroying her House in time? Will the Time Lords even listen to her? How about to the strange redhead who appeared out of nowhere? Who is she anyway and where did she come from?
