Author's Note: This chapter takes place in-between Chapters 9 and 10 of Living the Dream for the characters of that series.

ANOTHER AMY'S DREAM

After Oswin left, Melody spent the next couples of days practically glued to Amy's hip. She never left her side no matter where she went, and she was constantly holding onto her hand as tightly as she could.

It broke Amy's heart (she never thought of herself as having two hearts most of the time because in her mind she was still human) as she realized right away that Melody was absolutely terrified of being separated from her again. That made what was to come even worse for her because she knew that Melody still hadn't given up the hope that she could stay with her.

If she was being honest with herself, Amy hadn't either.

She decided to distract herself from the potentially universe shattering temptations that could result from continuing that particular train of thought by taking everyone on a trip to somewhere fun. It would lift both of their spirits and help them to stop worrying about things that neither one of them could change for a while.

"Melody, how would you like to go to the Planet of the Sweets?" Amy said with a warm smile as she tried to put on a cheerful attitude for her.

"Planet of the Sweets? That's a real place?" Rory asked in surprise.

"Of course it's a real place. Do you really think I could make something like that up? If you look hard enough, there's pretty much a planet for everything out there somewhere. There's a Planet of the Hats, Barcelona the shopping planet, the Planet of the Chips, the Planet of the Bow Ties, and there's also a Planet of the Sweets," Amy said.

"It's a good thing that the Doctor never found that planet when we were traveling with him then. We'd still be there," Rory said with a shudder.

"He already knows about it actually," Amy said with a chuckle.

"I have a feeling that there's a funny story there somewhere," Rory noted.

Amy nodded as she said with a huge grin, "Oh, yeah. He found the place back when we were still at the Academy together on Gallifrey. I still remember the day one of our instructors let it slip that that planet existed and that it had every kind of candy that you'd ever want there from throughout the universe. The Doctor's eyes went wide and he had this kind of crazed look on his face for the rest of the day like the one Selene gets when she hasn't had her coffee in the morning."

"Hey! Why did I get brought into this conversation? I wasn't even there," Selene said.

"It's because I enjoy tormenting you," Amy said with a smug grin.

"Yeah, like that's a news flash. I've known that since I was two," Selene said.

"Did the Doctor ever threaten to knock someone out if they got in-between him and his sweets?" Julia asked with a curious look on her face.

"No, I can't say he ever did. He was always obsessed with his little candies but not like that," Amy said with a giggle because she knew exactly what Julia was about to say next.

"Then your comparison doesn't hold water because he's nowhere near as bad as Selene," Julia said with an evil grin.

"I was having a really bad morning that day, okay? Geez, you lose your temper one time, and they never let you forget it," Selene said with a groan.

"Oh, I'll never forget it because you said it to River. You're lucky she didn't use your head in a game of cricket," Julia said.

Then the TARDIS suddenly became filled with silence as Julia realized what she had just done. A horrified look came over her face that only became worse in the next moment.

"Who's River?" Melody asked.

Rory quickly changed the subject as he said to Amy, "So if he found out about the Planet of the Sweets then how did you ever get him to leave? It sounds like you'd need a crowbar to make him leave a place like that."

Amy looked at him gratefully as she said, "No, something much better than a crowbar. I'll tell you more about that in a minute though. So he dragged me and everyone else in our little gang along with him on his stupid crusade to go to that planet. You should have seen the look on his face when we finally got there. His jaw dropped and drool started pouring out of his mouth all over his shoes when he saw that the buildings and pretty much everything else there were all made out of candy too. Then he found out that their capitol building was made out of jelly babies."

Rory smiled as he said, "Don't tell me."

"Oh, yeah. He went completely nuts and started gnawing away at one of the walls. He had a huge hole eaten out of it in no time. We soon wound up having an angry mob chase us off the planet and barely got out of there in time. Cydonia got so upset over it that she actually punched him in the jaw. I won't even mention what Marissa did to him. Let's just say that he's lucky that Cassiopeia was ever born. I still remember the agonized little yelp of pain that he gave," Amy said as she started laughing.

"I'm surprised that you didn't do something to him," Rory said.

Then he quickly looked terrified as he immediately added, "Not that you would of course. You're much too sweet."

Amy smiled at him and kissed him before saying, "You know that's a bald faced lie, Mr. Pond. I would have totally joined in with everyone else except that I just couldn't. He just looked so sad and pathetic on the way back, especially after Mari got through with him, that I couldn't help but hug him."

Everyone looked at Amy in shock as she said with a frown, "What? I'm a very loving person especially toward my best friend. Tell them, Rory."

"Yes, that's right. She's very sweet and gentle," Rory said in a nervous voice.

"Yeah, in a parallel reality maybe but definitely not in this one," Selene said with a chuckle.

"Shut up," Amy said as Selene continued to laugh.

Then Melody began to laugh along with her as she said with a wistful expression on her face, "I can't believe how wonderful it is here. You all just love each other so much. None of you want to hurt anyone or play mind games with them. I don't have to worry about anything here. I don't have to wonder every moment what's going to be done to me if I don't say or do the right things. I feel . . . safe. That's just . . . You have no idea how good that feels to feel safe for once . . . and loved. This is the way that I always dreamed that it would be if you ever found me. I'm so glad that I'm here, Mother. So glad."

Melody immediately began to tear up even as she smiled. Amy's heart broke completely in two in that moment.

Amy forced herself to smile at her and tried very hard not to break down as she said, "I am too. I wouldn't trade this moment for anything."

Melody hugged her tightly then and said, "I love you."

"I love you too," Amy said as she hugged her back while tears finally started to fall down her face.

They were both tears of joy and despair at the same time. Why couldn't she get to keep her? What kind of universe would be so cruel as to give her back to her only to take her away again later?

"Amy, aren't you going to take us to the planet now?" Rory asked as he saw her getting upset.

"Yeah. Yeah of course I am," Amy said as she tried to wipe the tears away from under her eyes.

"Are you okay, Mother?" Melody asked with concern.

"Sure, I'm fine. I'm always fine," Amy lied as she smiled at her warmly.

"I wish I could stay too," Melody said.

Amy's smile became genuine at that moment as she hugged her again.

Selene took that opportunity to set the coordinates and sent them straight on course to the Planet of the Sweets. She knew that Amy wasn't likely to pull herself away from Melody anytime soon after all.

Nor should she have to.

"That was very sweet of you, Selene. I'm glad one of us can actually help Mum out instead of almost making things worse," Julia whispered with a guilty look on her face.

"Hey, don't worry about it. It's an easy mistake to make. Melody looks and acts nothing like River. I almost forgot that they were the same person too. It's very easy to do," Selene admitted.

"You know if you keep this whole being nice thing up I'm going to suspect that you're really a softy deep down," Julia said with a grin.

"Now you know that's not true, Jules. I'm just trying to lure you into a false sense of security. That's when I'll turn back into my usual sarcastic self again," Selene said.

"You're a softy and you know it," Julia said giggling.

"Only towards you," Selene said as she ruffled her hair.

"Softy," Julia said with a look of pure love on her face.

"Shut up," Selene said in a gentle tone as she kissed the top of her sister's head.

That was when the TARDIS finally materialized at last. Before anyone could even start towards the door though, a blue police box suddenly materialized right inside the Console Room.

"What the?" Amy said in a shocked tone.

"Is that the Doctor?" Melody asked in an awed voice.

"Yeah, I'm afraid it is and he's probably just trapped both of our ships inside of each other because he couldn't be bothered to look before he landed. You'll have to excuse me a minute, Mels. Your mother has to go kill someone," Amy said as she stormed towards the Doctor's TARDIS with her hands curled into fists.

"It's the Doctor. The actual Doctor," Melody said with a faraway look in her eyes and a silly smile on her face.

"I think someone has a crush," Julia said in a sing song voice.

"Zip it, Julia," Melody said as she glared at her with a look of anger that looked just like River Song's.

Julia immediately hid behind Selene as she whispered to her, "Okay, I take it all back. Now I can definitely believe that they're the same person."

Amy ignored all of this as she stood outside the Doctor's TARDIS with a furious expression of her own on her face. She was more than ready to let the Doctor have it when he came out for being so incredibly careless when she got a shocking surprise instead that left her standing there completely speechless.

"Doctor, are you sure that they won't try to attack you again the minute that we go out there?" Amy's own voice said from inside the TARDIS.

"No, of course not, Pond. I landed centuries after my last visit. No one will even remember that it happened by this point plus I had a different face back then. We'll be just fine," The voice of the Eleventh Doctor said in a reassuring tone.

Amy's eyes widened now as alarm bells started to go off in her brain. What was going on here? She didn't remember any of this.

"Just to be sure I wouldn't mention that he was the Doctor if I was you. They might have longer memories than he thinks," The unmistakable voice of Clara Oswald said.

"You still haven't forgiven me for bringing you there, have you? You're never going to let it go are you, Kore?" The Doctor asked in a dejected voice.

"Not Kore, Doctor, Clara. I already told you that before. And no, I'm not about to let you off the hook for almost getting me killed over jelly babies. That's why I socked you one right after it happened," Clara said.

"Oh, I wish that I could have been there to see that!" The other Amy said laughing.

Amy was just completely confused now. Why was he calling Clara Kore? Why was she saying that she was there during the whole Planet of the Sweets incident instead of Cydonia? What was going on?

That was when the doors finally opened, and Amy came face to face with the other Amy. The other Amy yelped and immediately moved back in fear.

"Doctor!" The other Amy shouted.

"What is it, Pond? Don't tell me that they've already found out who I am already. They can't have. I haven't been back here since then," The Doctor said in disbelief.

"Doctor, it's me," The other Amy said in a worried voice.

"Yes, of course it's you," The Doctor said.

"No, you idiot! I'm outside! There's another me standing outside the TARDIS!" Amy shouted in alarm.

"Now don't get all worked up about it. I'm friendly. I promise," Amy said as she walked inside the Doctor's TARDIS.

"She's a Zygon isn't she? She has to be to expect me to believe that bunch of rubbish," The other Amy said.

"A Zygon?! Well, I like that! I mean if you can't trust yourself who can you trust?" Amy complained.

"Amy, I'm a little rusty with my time sense but I think that this is another you from a parallel universe. In fact, I think that the Doctor may have just landed us in the wrong universe entirely somehow. We're in her universe not ours anymore," Clara said.

"Nonsense, Kore. You know the TARDIS can't travel to parallel universe anymore with the Time Lords gone," The Doctor said.

"And yet that's exactly where you are. Clara or Kore or whoever she is got it exactly right. This isn't your world. Wait a minute. Time sense? Your Clara is a Time Lord?" Amy asked.

"Yep. I take it that I'm not one in your world then," Clara said.

"No. Well one of your echoes is but the original Clara is human," Amy said.

"Okay, is anyone else's head hurting because I'm getting a major migraine over here?" The other Amy said in an annoyed voice.

"It's simple, okay? I'm you in another reality where history took a completely different turn and somehow in some way you've wound up stuck in my universe. You're also stuck in my TARDIS by the way. Your Doctor landed right inside of it," Amy said.

"Your TARDIS? I'm a Time Lord in this world?" The other Amy asked with surprise and a slight tinge of jealousy.

"Yeah, long story. I'll tell it to you later, okay? Right now you need to separate our TARDISes if you still can, Doctor," Amy said.

"Right. I'm on it," The Doctor said as he went to the console.

"It doesn't make sense though, Doctor. How did we get here?" Clara asked.

"I have no idea. I've only done this once before since the Time War and that was a complete accident. Maybe this is another accident. Of course the power on the ship should have gone out here too just like it did on Pete's World since this is another reality. That's another thing I can't explain yet but I'm working on it," The Doctor said.

"Rose," Amy said as she finally figured it out.

Who else could have brought them there and made sure that their ship kept working? This had to be another of Rose's plans. Why though? Why would she need these alternate versions of them to come here?

"What?" The Doctor said as he almost broke his neck to look at her after hearing Rose's name.

"Someone you know, Doctor?" Clara asked in an unmistakable tone of jealousy.

"That was when I thought that you were dead and before I met the other you," The Doctor said in a nervous voice.

Amy laughed as she said to the other Amy, "Do I even want to know the story behind that statement?"

"Not if you don't want a headache like mine," The other Amy replied with a smile.

Suddenly Melody came on the TARDIS and said, "Mother, is that him?"

Amy smiled as she said, "Yeah, that's him alright, Mels. That's the Doctor."

"Melody?" The Doctor asked as he looked at the little girl in disbelief.

The other Amy meanwhile looked like she had just been hit by a truck. She looked completely devastated to see her standing there.

Amy knew exactly how she felt.

Melody seemed to notice her at that exact moment as she said, "Mother, why is there another you here? What's happening?"

"The Doctor is being his usual idiotic self and landing us in the wrong place. Again. That's what," Another River Song said as she came into the Console Room followed by another Rory.

"Doctor, what . . .?" Rory asked as he saw Amy.

"It's a parallel universe, Rory. Which I did not get us trapped in because I didn't bring us here, Professor Song. So there," The Doctor said as he shot an angry look at his River.

"He's actually right for once. I think that you were brought here by a friend of mine. I have no idea why though," Amy said to the other River.

"Is this friend named Rose Tyler by any chance?" The other River asked as she smiled at Melody who was looking at her curiously.

"Yes, she is. How did you know that?" Amy asked in surprise.

That was when Rose appeared beside Amy in a burst of golden energy and said, "I know her. That's why. We met once when I talked to her universe's Rose during one of the monthly meetings I have with my alternate universe counterparts. She brought her along with her."

"What?" The Doctor asked as he looked at his River in surprise.

"Spoilers," River said with a grin.

"I like her. She's cool," Melody said to Amy as she giggled at the irritated look on the Doctor's face.

"Yes, she certainly is, Mels," Amy agreed as she smiled at River fondly.

Then she turned to Rose and asked, "What's going on? What are you up to this time?"

Rose looked at her sadly as she said, "You didn't hear did you? The Guardians have all fallen to an enemy of mine called Nightshade who is working with Missy. She stole all of their powers but mine. I need some help against her so I'm taking it from wherever I can get it now. This Doctor's in danger from her anyway since she wants to kill all of them in every universe so I might as well let him fight alongside the other Doctors to stop her."

"Other Doctors? So you're bringing Doctors from other universes to help you fight something that's out to kill all of us?" The Doctor asked.

"Yeah, that's about the size of it, Doctor. Missy's a threat to the entire multiverse especially with Nightshade on her side. Will you help me to stop her?" Rose asked.

The Doctor smiled and nodded gleefully as the other Amy said, "Apparently she had his cooperation the minute she showed up."

"Yeah, I can see that," Clara said with pure jealousy.

"I'm married to my version of the Doctor, Kore. In my reality, I was his first wife just like you are in yours so don't get your knickers all in a twist worrying about me," Rose said.

The Doctor looked at her in amazement as Amy said, "Really? Clara was his first wife in that world? Weird."

"Oh, I don't know. I've seen plenty weirder. There's a world where you're his first wife too, Amy," Rose said with a smirk.

Amy frowned as she said, "That's just not right. I love Rory. I always loved Rory even when I was too stupid to realize it and before that it was Oisin."

Rose gave her a knowing look that made her look away in shame though. Rose knew. She had never told Rose but somehow she knew. She knew that for a while back in their Academy days that Amy had been in love with the Doctor. She had never done anything about it though because she knew that his hearts belonged to Arkytior and always would.

It's okay. I can't blame anyone for falling in love with him. It's easy to do. Rose said to her telepathically.

I don't feel that way anymore though. I haven't in a long, long time. Amy replied.

I know. Don't worry about it. That's all in the past, yeah? Rose responded.

Amy smiled at her even as the Doctor looked at them suspiciously. He knew that something was going on between them but he had no idea what.

"She's right. Marrying the Doctor would just be wrong. I can't see it myself," The other Amy said after her Rory started to look bothered by what Rose had just said.

"I should hope not, Giant Girl," Clara said with a mischievous smile.

"Stop it, Shorty. You know I don't fancy him," Amy said as she smiled back at her.

Amy smiled at the way that they teased each other. She was like that with her own version of Clara too, but these two seemed to be much closer than they were.

"Well, are we going to stand around all day or get down to business? Tell us what we need to know, Rose," River said.

"Sure, I will but first I'll get you out of my Amy's hair. She was trying to have a nice day with her daughter, and I don't want to interrupt that any more than I already have. She needs all the happy memories with her that she can get. Don't worry. We're going now, Amy," Rose said.

Amy put a restraining hand on her shoulder though before she could leave and said, "Do you need my help, Rose?"

"No, it's okay. You just enjoy some time with Melody, alright?" Rose said as she gently shook herself loose from Amy's grip.

Then she turned to leave but before she did she turned back and said, "Amy . . . I . . . You know I love you, right?"

Amy looked at her in alarm now as she said, "Yeah, of course I do. I love you too. Why are you saying this?"

"No reason. I . . . I just needed you to know. Well, I'll see you around, yeah?" Rose said with a mournful look on her face.

"Of course you will. If you need my help, you just ask, okay?" Amy said.

"Yeah. Good bye, Amy," Rose said.

Then she hugged Amy tightly for several moments and refused to let go. Finally she seemed to reluctantly pull herself away and snapped her fingers. Both she and the other Doctor's TARDIS along with its occupants disappeared in a burst of golden energy leaving Amy and Melody back in Amy's TARDIS once again.

"Mother, why was she so sad?" Melody asked Amy.

"I don't know, Mels," Amy said.

She did though because she knew her too well not to know exactly what she was thinking. Rose was saying good bye because she didn't expect to make it out of this fight.

She also knew that Rose was being all noble and letting her spend what time she had left with Melody instead of worrying her with her problems. Did she actually expect her to stand by and do nothing while her best friend was killed?

"I don't think so," Amy said in a defiant voice.

"What?" Melody asked in confusion.

"I'm sorry, Mels, but I'm afraid I'll have to cancel the visit to see the Planet of the Sweets for now. I have to go help save the universe . . . and my friend," Amy said.

"I was hoping you'd say that," Melody said.

"Really?" Amy asked.

"Yeah, who wants to see some boring old sweets anyway? I want to save the universe . . . with you," Melody said as she looked at her with pride.

Amy hugged her and said, "Don't ever forget this moment, Melody. Always remember that your first instinct is to help people instead of hurt them, alright?"

"I'll remember. No matter what," Melody said bravely which made Amy hug her even tighter.

Then a look of determination came over Amy's face as she entered coordinates into her TARDIS. She was going to join this fight whether Rose wanted her to or not, and Missy was going to find out that you couldn't threaten Amy Pond's best friends and get away with it.

She was about to teach Missy first hand why it was never a good idea to cross her. She swore that if anything happened to Rose because of her that she would make what she did to the Cybermen on Telos look like a dress rehearsal in comparison to what she would do to her.

Next: The final battle between Rose and Nightshade will be held in a special mini-series that I'll be debuting in another week or so. Next time in this story however we'll witness the effects of the final outcome of that battle on Amy. Will she ever be able to recover from the devastating losses that she will suffer there? This looks like a job for Rory but can even he do anything to help this time?
