Anakin slowly opened his eyes as he heard an insistent voice calling his name over and over again. He blinked his eyes rapidly as he noted they were back at Obi-Wan's dwelling. Fress was standing over him as he glanced at her. "We're here already?"

"You fell asleep before I had a chance to start the engines," Fress explained with concern in her tone and eyes. "We should get you inside so you can rest properly. You've done too much already."

"Yes mother," Anakin quipped in a teasing tone as pain passed over her features. "I was only kidding, are you all right?"

"It's nothing," Fress lied as Anakin grabbed her hand.

"It's more then just nothing," Anakin pointed out as he searched her eyes and saw sadness. The mother comment hit a nerve, but he wasn't sure if it had to do with her mother or not. "What's wrong?"

"I shouldn't tell you," Fress answered with a heavy sigh as Rex and Ahsoka walked out of the dwelling. "Ahsoka, Anakin has over exerted himself, we need to get him inside."

Fress was avoiding his question, Anakin was positive of it. Now that he was thinking about it, her body was a little thicker then he remembered. Ahsoka and Rex approached the speeder as he climbed out as they moved under him. He watched Fress wipe a few tears away causing him to sigh as Ahsoka and Rex helped him inside.

Luke took the jewel out of the oven and started to shave it down. He glanced up as Ahsoka and Rex helped Anakin into the dwelling. Fress followed closely behind them as Jess wrapped an arm around her. He went back to the task of shaping the crystal.

Twenty minutes had passed before Fress approached Luke and smiled as she noticed the crystal. "Remember, to finish your lightsaber. You will have to meditate and trust the Force to finish putting your lightsaber together. It will direct you in how the pieces fit."

"Right," Luke studied Fress with a frown. She looked sad for some reason. "Is something wrong?"

"I'm fine," Fress answered as Jess headed into the kitchen to make the mid day meal.

"All right," Luke didn't believe her. Something was bothering her but she wasn't willing to talk about it. "I'm almost done, soon I'll have a new lightsaber to use."

"It's one of your tests," Fress pointed out with a smile. "This is a test of a true Jedi. Remember, the crystal is the heart of your lightsaber. Normally we harvest them, but we can't afford to go back yet."

"I understand," Luke agreed. "Maybe one day you can show me, once Palpatine is taken care of."

"One day," Fress agreed as Luke went back to shaving the crystal down. Soon he'll have a new lightsaber. One more sliver he thought as he shaved it off on a forty-five degree angle. Perfect. He stood up and headed towards where the rest of the parts were.

Anakin lay back on the bed as Ahsoka entered into his room. He watched her with a frown. Maybe Ahsoka knew what was bothering Fress. It bothered him that the one comment brought her to tears. "Ahsoka, is something wrong with Fress? I made a mother comment and…" Ahsoka stiffened up as he watched her wondering if something else had brought on the emotions. "What happened? Fress won't tell me."

"She fears it will only hurt you," Ahsoka explained as she sat down in a chair and took out a cube and turned it on. She handed the cube to Anakin as he studied the holo. The boy looked to be about ten and had Fress's eyes but looked more like Jess.

"They had a child?" Anakin questioned as Ahsoka nodded. "Did he die?"

"No, nothing like that. He's safe," Ahsoka answered as she took the cube back. "They placed him with a family in the outer rim somewhere the Empire doesn't exist. She's hoping that one day she can meet with him if the family who adopted Brice agrees to it."

Anakin laid his head back down and closed his eyes knowing he was the reason they decided to give their son away. "It's my fault they couldn't raise their child. They gave him away because of me."

"Their lives fighting against the Empire would've kept Brice in danger. They wanted to give him his best chance," Ahsoka explained gently as she took his hand into hers. Anakin looked away from Ahsoka swallowing hard. "Anakin, don't beat yourself up. This is why she didn't want to tell you."

Anakin closed his eyes feeling his stomach twist causing him to feel sick. Ahsoka laid her hand against his forehead causing him to look at her. "It's my fault."

Ahsoka didn't say a word as she left the room. A few minutes later Fress entered as he looked into her eyes. "I'm so sorry."

"Shhh," Fress soothed as she took his hand into hers. "We keep in contact with the family and they send us holo's and grades to his progress. We even give them financial support. He's in a happy family environment. I'm sure one day they'll tell him the truth, but now isn't the time."

"You missed out on raising him just as I missed out on raising the twins," Anakin pointed out as he felt pain and guilt hit his heart. "It's not right."

"I know but our lives do not allow us to have a child. He would be in constant danger and we don't have to worry about his safety," Fress pointed out in a gentle tone. "It frees us to do what we need to do in a mission to make sure we succeed."

"Which planet is he on?" Anakin questioned in curiosity. According to Luke, he was raised with Owen and Beru and Obi-Wan knew he swore to never return to Tatooine.

"The place you swore to never return too," Fress answered with a smile. "We figured he was safe here."

Anakin had to admit, that was pretty smart. They didn't want Vader to come across the child so one of the safest places was here or an Alliance controlled world. "Poor kid."

Fress shook her head as she checked his forehead. "Your fever feels like it's almost broken. Don't beat yourself up, Anakin. We made that decision."

"All right," Anakin agreed as he closed his eyes. He was still tired and suspected it would be a few more days before he was back to full strength.

"Get some rest," Fress encouraged in a gentle. "I'll be back later to check on you."

The last thing he remembered was Fress leaving the room before he felt himself slowly nod off again.

Jess shook his head as he pulled out the battery on his X-wing. This is the third time it's drained in a matter of three hours and it wasn't even being used at the moment. He glanced at Fress as she tested the others and shook her head. "It's just the one?"

"It's just the one that seems to be bad, the others are still fully charged," Fress answered as she climbed out. "We'll go into town this afternoon, maybe someone will have a good battery or we'll have to put in a request with Home One to get a new one."

"We'll try the shops first," Jess agreed as he carried the battery to the landspeeder. "Anakin knows about Brice now?"

"He knows," Fress answered with a heavy sigh. "And beating himself up about it. He prodded Ahsoka until she told him. He's blaming himself."

Jess shook his head as he planned to go talk with Anakin. They did it for Brice's safety and it's not like Anakin hurt the child at this point in time. "I'll go talk to him when we get back. Want to go town now?"

"Sounds like a plan," Fress said as she kissed Jess on the lips. "I'll go let the others know."

Jess watched as Fress disappeared into the dwelling to return two minutes later with their robes in her hand. She handed him his robe as he pulled it over himself. He patted his side to make sure his lightsaber was attached. He climbed into the speeder as Fress climbed into the driver's side.

Jess followed Fress into the junkyard shop as the owner greeted them with a smile. "We're looking for a battery for an X-wing. Do you have anything in stock with this number?"

"Yes I have one in stock," the owner answered as Jess stepped in beside her. "Come with me to the back and we'll discuss the price," he spoke in another language as a ten year old boy entered from outside. "Watch the shop boy, I'll be back."

Jess watched as they disappeared into the back as he looked at the boy with a sinking feeling in his stomach. "What's your name?"

"Brice Kriane," the boy answered with a frown as he looked Jess up and down. "You look like an older version of me, except the eyes."

"What happened to your parents, Brice?" Jess questioned as he felt his stomach twist. If Fress knew, she would go ballistic.

"They died a month ago," Brice answered in a saddened tone. "They were killed by a Tusken Raider attack. My Aunt and Uncle didn't want the responsibility, so they sold me."

Jess watched his son with a neutral expression. This is not what they had in mind for Brice and why weren't they contacted if that was the case? The owner and Fress walked back in as he chewed on his lower lip. They would have to figure something out. He turned his attention to Fress who had a shocked expression on her face as she stared at Brice. "How much for the boy?"

"Too expensive for you, Jedi," the owner answered as he looked at Jess's side noting the lightsaber. "Not unless there is another reason you want him. I didn't think the Jedi were too interested in slaves."

"How much?" Fress questioned as he noted her tone sounded a little angry. Not that he blamed her. He was starting to feel the same way. "I'm sure we can come to an agreement."

"You have the boy's eyes," the owner observed as if it suddenly dawned on him why they were interested in buying Brice. That caused Jess to curse under his breath, the owner was going to make it difficult to get him back. "A quarter million in spice."

"We don't have that kind of credits," Fress spoke with a frown. "How about you take my X-wing? It's in great condition."

I'm sure Mon Mothma will understand why we gave the X-wing away. Jess thought as he held his breath as the owner shook his head. "A quarter million in spice and I'll let him go."

Jess placed a hand onto Fress's shoulder. "Let's go talk with Anakin. Maybe he can help us."

Fress handed the agreed amount for the battery over as Jess took a hold of the battery. At least they got one thing out of the way. Maybe there was a reason why his battery was constantly draining on him. So they could find Brice. He patted Brice on the shoulder who had a confused expression on his face. "We'll be back for you."

Jess watched Brice for a minute before turning towards the exit. What he didn't understand was why the family didn't contact them to let them know what had taken place.
