Anakin turned his attention to the door as Han Solo slipped in and closed the door behind him. He wasn't sure how Solo managed to talk the medic into allowing him in here or maybe he slipped the nurse. As far as he was aware, they were only allowing immediate family in here. He attempted to talk the medics into allowing Fress and Ahsoka in but they were refusing it for now. "Did you slip the nurse or something? They're only allowing Leia, Luke, and Padme in here."

Han smirked as he approached the bed. "I had to slip the medic," he answered honestly. "I heard the furball was behind this. How are you feeling?"

"Better, and yes Fey'lya was behind this," Anakin answered with a frown. "What are you doing in my recovery room?"

"I've come to ask you something," Han answered as he suddenly looked nervous. "I've asked Leia to dinner tonight. Any suggestions on how to make it more romantic?"

Anakin raised an eyebrow as he watched the younger man. "How many have you dated so far and you're asking me for advice?"

"Three," Han answered honestly and his nervousness seemed to ten-fold. Anakin felt some satisfaction making the younger man sweat a little. "And yes. Maybe you can supply some information I never thought of before."

Good recovery Anakin thought to himself as he watched Han noticing he looked serious. "Have you tried dinner by candle light? Making her favorite meal? Wine?"

Han perked up with a smile and shook his head. "That's a good idea. Most of the time I just lower the lights, but where do I get the candles? We're on a ship nowhere near a civilized system."

"Ask Jess, he might have some on the Rogue," Anakin suggested with a frown. "Are you really asking for advice or are you attempting to bond with me?"

"Maybe both," Han answered with a roguish grin. "I love Leia and I want to make it work. I also know you two have been bonding. I know it would make things easier if we bonded a little."

Anakin raised an eyebrow as he watched Han. It wasn't a bad idea. He had a feeling Han was going to be joining the family in the near future. He sensed the kid was the one for Leia. He even got Luke and Leia out of trouble more than a few times according to the others. He knew how to take care of himself and could keep pace with Leia on the battlefield. He remembered about an Imperial Lieutenant who freed a wookiee. "Han, I have a question for you," Han nodded as he waited patiently. "Are you the lieutenant who freed a wookiee slave about eleven years ago?"

Han nodded with a frown. "That's how I met Chewie. He was refusing to work and my superior was ready to shoot him. I owed a wookiee my life and saved Chewie's repaying that debt. Chewie refused to leave my side since."

Han freed a slave? Anakin felt more impressed by Han's actions causing him to smile slightly. "You plan to woo my daughter tonight?"

"I planned her favorite meal, favorite wine and have candles ready to go," Han answered causing Anakin to raise an eyebrow.

"You are attempting to bond with me?" Anakin questioned sensing the truth behind those words. "What's next? You're going to tell me you knocked her up?"

"Can I?" Han questioned excitedly as Anakin hardened his expression.

"No," Anakin flat out answered as Han smirked.

"Don't you want grand kids?" Han questioned as Anakin felt his anger peak a little.

"As if I need to start feeling my age more than I already do," Anakin answered causing Han to give a smug grin. "After you two actually tie the knot and not before."

"Getting her drunk tonight is out," Han smirked.

"You better be joking," Anakin said in a protective tone. "Don't you dare or I will find a way to deal with you myself."

Han gave an irritating grin as if he was deliberately getting Anakin wired up. Maybe he was. "How would you deal with me?" He questioned with an irritating tone. "Are you going to get me kicked out of your recovery room, strap me to a table torturing me and not ask questions, or encase me back into carbonite?"

"Don't temp me," Anakin smirked. "Medic, help me, Solo is in here threatening to give me grandbabies before they're married," he shouted out causing Han to raise an eyebrow.

"Anakin's having a nightmare, go back about your regular duties," Han yelled out as he turned around and saw Leia standing in the doorway. "Hi Leia."

"You're so busted, Han," Anakin smirked as she shook her head sadly.

"Play nice please," Leia said before she left the room not saying another word.

"Play nice?" Han questioned with a frown as he glanced at Anakin. "How do we play nice?"

"Search me," Anakin answered with a small smile. "Maybe getting to know each other better? Or encasing a small Boba Fett toy in carbonite for kicks as a peace offering?"

Han smirked as he sat down in a chair beside the bed. "Boba Fett and I don't have a good history. He's attempted to cash in the price that was placed on my head more then a few times. I escaped him more then a few times."

"He grew up normally," Anakin said as he turned his attention to Han. "Want to know something about Fett that not too many people know?"

"What's that?" Han questioned in a curious tone as Anakin smirked. "What do you know that no one else knows?"

"Boba Fett is a clone of the original host, unaltered," Anakin explained causing Han's jaw to drop. "The template's name was Jango Fett and in turn for using his blood. He wanted a clone of himself that he regarded as a son."

"I didn't see that coming," Han muttered under his breath as he watched Anakin. "I grew up on the streets. A man by the name of Garris Shrike took me in but used me to beg money from people. Used me for winning swoop races and enrolled me into schools. Befriending kids belonging to rich families and taking them for everything they had. I watched as other kids under his care die from neglect. A girl needed surgery and he kept promising her but she died from her condition. I've had it rough growing up. I didn't know my parents too well and didn't know my last name until Dewlanna got Shrike drunk enough to tell her my last name."

Anakin stared at Han not being able to say anything further. Han had a good heart. He just hid his feelings to keep from getting hurt. He had a feeling Han would want to give his children everything that he didn't have. "I was a slave when I was nine. A Jedi Master by the name of Qui-Gon Jinn along with Padme and a few others came into my master's workshop looking for parts to fix their ship with. I entered into the Boonta Eve race unknowingly winning my freedom at the same time. It was to help them pay for the parts they needed to repair the ship. I found out later that Qui-Gon had made a bet with my master, if I won the race then I was free. He was Obi-Wan's master."

"You raced pods?" Han questioned sounding impressed as Anakin nodded. "I was under the impression only aliens could race them because they're dangerous."

"I was the only human who could do it," Anakin explained with a frown. "Like Shrike used you to race swoops. I was forced into racing pods for him. I suspect being Force sensitive gave me the advantage."

Anakin watched Han as the younger man fell silent and gave a slight nod. A smile spread across his face as he looked at Anakin. "We both didn't have it easy did we? We have so much in common. I heard you're a great pilot."

"I know you're one," Anakin pointed out with a smirk. "You're a scoundrel and I was considered a Rogue Jedi. Seems Leia has similar tastes in men as Padme does," Han nodded in agreement with a smile. "I was considered the chosen one of the Jedi, a part of a prophecy. I'm supposed to destroy the Sith and restore balance to the Force. That means facing Palpatine at some point."

"Is this Force related?" Han questioned as Anakin nodded. "Getting back to who is the better pilot. Did you want to get into a sim to see who is better?"

"You maybe a good pilot, Han. One of the best in the galaxy, you won't survive two minutes in a sim with me," Anakin pointed out with a small grin. "I can take out squads by myself and they don't have to be piloted by beings either."

"What were they piloted by?" Han questioned in curiosity.

"Vulture droids," Anakin answered honestly. "If you want to go against me, to make the sims fair. We'll use vulture droids."

"One more condition," Han said with a grin. "You can't use the Force, only your instincts."

"Deal," Anakin agreed as they shook on it. "Prepare to be beaten."

"We'll see about that," Han smirked as Padme and Leia walked back in.

"I'm happy to see you two getting along so well," Leia commented with a smile as Anakin and Han looked over in unison. "What do you two have planned?"

"Leia, they're locking horns," Padme pointed out with a frown as she eyed Anakin with suspicion. "What do you two have planned, Anakin?"

"We're going to see who's the better pilot in the sims," Anakin answered with a smirk. "After the medic releases me, the conditions are we're using the vulture droid program and I can't use the Force."

"You're right, they did lock horns," Leia muttered under her breath.

"Ego boy thinks he can last two minutes in the sims with me," Anakin explained causing Han to make a face. "I think he's wrong. He'll last a minute and ten seconds."

"Ever heard the expression out with old and in with the new?" Han defended himself with a smirk. "You're the one who will last under a minute."

"Now you're just getting cocky," Anakin shot back with a frown. "And I didn't think you could be any brasher then you are now. It's time to take that ego of yours down a notch or two."

"I'm the one with the ego?" Han questioned as Leia raised her eyebrow with a warning expression. "You were second in command to Palpatine and boosting about your piloting skills. You're telling me I'm the one with an ego problem?"

"Pretty much," Anakin smirked as Han shook his head sadly. To be honest they both had an ego problem, trying to get Han to admit to it was like pulling teeth on a Rancor. "Come on Han, just admit to it."

"I will if you will," Han challenged with a smug grin. "I'm not the only one with an ego in this room."

Anakin fell silent for a minute as he gauged Han's expression. He seemed sincere enough but did he really mean what he said? There was only one way to find out. "Fine, I have an ego problem, your turn. I promise not to think of you any less of a man."

Han chocked on his spit as he stared at Anakin disbelievingly. He knew he caught Han off guard. "Fine, you want me to admit to it? I have an ego problem. There, I said it. Happy?"

"Very much so," Anakin answered as Leia shook her head.

"Are you two done butting heads yet or should we come back later?" Padme questioned with a small smile as Anakin raised an eyebrow in her direction.

"I'm done if Anakin is done," Han responded with a challenging smirk causing Anakin to shake his head.

"I'm done," Anakin paused for a second and couldn't resist adding in. "For now," he heard a frustrated sigh escape from Leia causing him to grin. He couldn't help it. This was his baby girl this little boy set his sights on. He understood more why Han didn't seem to care about who he was. He had a rough checkered past that involved a life of crime in the beginning. It appeared Han had turned over a new leaf and was ready for a long-term commitment and an honest life.

Anakin reached out and took Han's hand into his causing Han to look up with a frown. "I have no doubt in my mind you will be a part of this family in the near future. I suspect Bail raised Leia teaching her to give her attention to a man she feels worthy enough. I'm starting to understand why she's chosen you."

"Thanks Anakin," Han gave a genuine smile as Anakin released his hand. "Does this mean I pass the father cross examination?"

"Yes it does, but I still want to see how good you are behind the stick," Anakin answered with a smirk.

"I look forward to it. After seeing the way Luke flies gives me a pretty good idea what I'm up against," Han pointed out with a grin. "He's good behind the stick but not as good as me."

"Keep boosting fly boy, I'm ready to put you in your place," Anakin shot back with a grin. Han smirked in turn and gave a, we'll see about that expression. Leia and Padme had already left the room making him wonder when they left. They'll be back later, besides Leia and Padme needed to spend time with each other alone.

Leia and Padme stood against the door as they listened to Han and Anakin egg each other on. During which time she heard Anakin give a stamp of approval about Han being a life mate for her. She glanced at Padme as her mother patted her on the arm. "Han knew what Anakin was doing all this time?"

"By the sounds of it, yes he did," Padme agreed with a smile. "Your father is making sure Han is genuine about his feelings towards you and nothing more. Besides, we both don't agree on arranged marriages. We want you and your brother to marry for love not for advantage."

"Thanks mom," Leia smiled as she hugged Padme. "I know Han will be a handful."

"Leia, your father is a handful," Padme pointed out with a smile. "That's a good thing. It means life will never be dull between you two," Leia smiled as Padme wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "Come on, I want to spend some time getting to know you better."

"I would like that," Leia agreed as they left the med ward. Anakin seemed healthy enough for now and the medic would comm her if something changed. For now, she wanted to spend time with Padme and get to know her better.

Leia placed a hot tea down in front of Padme and herself with a plate of pastries between them. Padme smiled in appreciation as she sipped the tea. "Anakin tells me you're a senator from Naboo and a Queen before that."

"That was so long ago," Padme answered with a smile. "I see Anakin remembers it well. Your father wasn't always bad or like how he has been when he turned to the dark side. He was a stranger to me when I realized what had taken place," she paused for a second as she stared at her cup. "I heard you made office at age twelve," she smiled as Leia nodded. "You beat me by two years."

Leia smiled as she watched Padme with concern. What happened between the two on Mustafar, seemed to be a touchy subject or a painful memory? The day Padme lost her husband. "I'm wondering if one day we can visit your family?"

"I would love that," Padme answered as she reached for Leia's hands. "You have an Aunt and cousins to meet. It's been so long since I've been home. Your father and I, we got into so much trouble risking our necks to make things right."

"Han always said Luke and I were born without self-preservation," Leia said with a smile. "We get that from you both?"

"Yes you do," Padme agreed with a smile. "How did you like growing up with Bail? I heard Breha died a long time ago."

"He was good to me, provided everything for me that I needed. He got me into politics and I have been helping with the Alliance since I was elected. I'm good with a blaster. Anakin told me I get that from you," Leia paused for a second as Padme nodded in agreement. "I miss Alderaan and I can tell Anakin feels really guilty about it. It was Tarkin's idea to blow up Alderaan with the Death Star."

"I'm sorry to hear about Alderaan," Padme said with sincerity. "It was a beautiful planet. I've given speeches to students there before."

"I remember hearing a rumor about someone aiming a blaster at this politician?" Leia questioned with a frown. "Was that you?"

"Yes and if it wasn't for Ahsoka, she would've succeeded," Padme answered with a smile. "She was having visions about the assassin attempt before I gave my speech. Anakin was so proud of her. She talked the person who arranged the assassination attempt to confess. I made so many enemies as my time as a senator."

"Vader placed Han into carbonite then Anakin helped me get him back. He didn't bolt on me when he found out the truth about Anakin. He even put up with the father cross-examination," Leia spoke as she sipped her tea. "I'm beginning to realize he's worth holding onto."

"Leia, that boy is in love you. If he wasn't he would've run as soon as he realized you were the daughter of a hated man in the galaxy," Padme pointed out. "If he did hurt you. He would have Anakin to deal with and that would not be a pretty sight. What do you see in Han?"

"He has a good heart," Leia answered with a smile. "He's gotten Luke and I out of danger more then a few times since we met him. He pretends he's all about the money but I suspect he was more then that. He hides his feelings because he's afraid of getting hurt again. I suspect he's had his heart broken a couple of times. Everyone could see we were soul mates, it just took us a while to stop denying our feelings for each other. He's handsome and he could've left but didn't. I suspect he's hanging around because of me and changing to be with me."

"He would go back to his old ways if he wasn't with you, would he?" Padme questioned as Leia paused for a second.

"He would," Leia answered honestly. "How did you know that Anakin was the one?"

"I just knew," Padme answered with a smile. "I was a Senator and he was training to be a Jedi. And a relationship is forbidden for a Jedi. We risked everything to be together. We had to hide the relationship. If we were found out, I would've been dismissed and Anakin would've been kicked out. Since Fress and Jess are together. They decided not to keep that rule anymore. Hiding a relationship is the leverage Palpatine had over Anakin. I'm almost positive of that now."

"I know Han's the one. I can feel it," Leia said with a smile. "The way he looks at me says he only sees me. Not my title, credits or anything else, just me."

Padme smiled as she picked up a pastry and handed it to Leia. "That's all you need. Fress told me she noticed a bond between you two through the Force. Only one that can be broken by death, she knows you and Han are meant to be. Ahsoka and the others agree with her."

"Luke always joked about Han and I fighting like a married couple, everyone saw it before we could," Leia smirked as she accepted the pastry. "He's protective of me and Lando knows how to make him jealous."

"Han is the one?" Padme questioned with a smile. "Without a doubt?"

"Without a doubt, Han's the one," Leia answered easily as she took a bite of the pastry as Padme took a bite out of hers. Anakin was right, he said she would like Padme and he was right. She was a wonderful person.
