Chapter 27: Halloween Special!

Toad Town Studios, Toadstool's Awesome Office, 4:29 PM

"This is honestly the weirdest human tradition of them all," said Toadstool as she pondered over what to wear for trick-or-treat with her younger cousins.

"You're saying that as if you aren't human." Darrel slipped on his Grim Reaper costume and looked at Toadstool as if she were slightly bonkers.

"I'm not. Well...I'm half-human," said Toadstool matter-of-factly. "My dad's a human and my mom's a mushroom person."

"Oh, okay," said Darrel.

"Are you half something, Darrel?" asked Purple, who was wearing a Godzilla costume.

"No," Darrel replied. "I'm a hundred percent human."

"Were you born in the Mushroom Kingdom?" asked Orange, wearing a goddess costume.

"No."

"Sarasaland?"

"No."

"Are you even from this world?" asked Orange. "What's your story, Darrel Sharman?" She, Purple, and Toadstool looked at him expectantly.

Darrel got up and charged out the office.

"Oh, come on! Don't leave us in suspense!" Purple shouted after him.

"Let's just drop it for now, P," said Toadstool.

Awkward silence.

"So...What're you gonna be for Halloween, T?" asked Purple.

"Myself."

"What?"

"No. I mean..." Ten Ztars floated around her. She absorbed their power and transformed into Dark Toadstool. "...my other self," she finished.

"Not this again," said Orange.

"Yes. This again. C'mon, P, let's get to the stage." Dark Toadstool floated out the door. Purple followed behind uncertainly.

Toad Town Studios, Main Stage, 4:57 PM

Dark Toadstool and Purple seated themselves just as a girl with a dark red hoodie and blue shorts jumped out the warp pipe.

"Hi! My name is Penny the Queen of Imagination, but you can call me Penny." She looked around the stage. "Is Toadstool here?"

"No. But I am," said Dark Toadstool.

"That's Toadstool's alternate form," Darrel explained to Penny. He gave her the stage directions and she went into a hallway.

"Toadstool, you ready?" asked Darrel.

Dark Toadstool didn't even look up.

Darrel sighed. "Dark Toadstool, are you ready?"

"Let's just get this over with."

Darrel pointed at Dark Toadstool once they were live.

"Hello, and welcome to the Toadstool89's Truth or Dare Show Halloween Special," said Dark Toadstool, clearly uninterested. "I'm Dark Toadstool, and though the last thing I want is to be called by another name, you can call me DT. Today we have a special guest. Please welcome...Penny the Queen of Imagination."

Penny came onstage and sat in the guests' chair.

Dark Toadstool yawned. "Good to have you on the show."

"Good...to be here?" Penny looked at Dark Toadstool questioningly.

"Before we begin, I have something to tell y'all." Dark Toadstool looked at the competitors. "Since this is the Halloween special, my first and possibly only dare for this episode is for all of you to dress up as one of your friends. Or enemies. I don't really care. And you also have to say something that you think the character you're portraying would say. Um, that is, after Penny picks the first truth or dare of the show. Sorry. Toadstool just reminded me." DT (Dark Toadstool) handed a tablet to Penny, who look it over.

"Okay, we have a dare from...me! I dare Jayfeather to sit in my lap for the whole chapter," said Penny.

"Aw man." Jayfeather got in Penny's lap.

"Alright, now...do the costume dare," said DT.

The competitors went off to get costumes.

"Why costumes, DT?" asked Darrel.

"It wasn't my idea, it was Toadstool's," DT replied. "She said it'd be 'a fun little Halloween party'...whatever that means."

Darrel rolled his eyes. "Stop acting like your two separate people, Toadstool."

"Should I dress up too?" asked Penny.

Dark Toadstool shrugged. "If you want."

Penny dressed up as a queen.

The rest of the competitors came back in their costumes.

"Now for the phrases," said DT. "We'll go in roster order. So...Peach, you're up first."

"Hi, I'm Daisy!" said Peach in her best Daisy impression.

Bowser ran around the stage in a Bullet Bill costume.

Mario did his best Goomba impression.

"It's-a Mario time!" said Luigi, who had dressed as his brother.

"Let's get ready to Staaaaar Battllllllllllle!" said Toad in his best MC Ballyhoo impression.

Toadette twirled around in a Birdo costume.

"Oh...Did I win?" Rosalina giggled girly-like in her Peach costume.

Shy Guy did his best Pianta impression.

"May the stars shine down on you," said Daisy in her best Rosalina voice.

Sonic kept tripping over his Buzzbomber costume, but managed to make it look like he was firing lasers.

"My skills are superior!" said Amy in her best Blaze impression.

"Faster than the speed of sound!" Tails yelled while running around in a Sonic costume.

Silver did his best Dr. Eggman evil laugh impression.

Shadow rolled his eyes in his Silver costume, but said, "Not bad, all in all."

"Better behave yourself," said Blaze in a Rouge impression.

"That's right, I'm the best!" said Rouge in an Amy impression.

"Let's have some fun!" said Knuckles in his Vector costume.

Espio did his best Charmy Bee impression. (A/N: Sorry, I don't know any Charmy quotes.)

"Chao, chao!" said Cream in her Chao costume.

Cheese flew around the room dressed as a Chaos Emerald.

"Fist of fury!" Tigress pranced around in a Po costume.

"Someday, you will have ears like mine," said a giggling Viper in a Shifu costume.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath Highrock for a Clan meeting!" said Leafpool in her best Firestar voice.

Squirrelflight pretended to be Brambleclaw.

Jayfeather pretended to be a kittypet in Penny's lap.

"I am Tecna, Fairy of Technology!" said Bloom in a Tecna costume.

"I am Musa, Fairy of Music!" said Stella in a Musa Costume.

"I am Aisha, Fairy of Waves!" said Flora in an Aisha costume.

"Well, that was fun, I guess," said DT. "And it looks like we still have time for a few more truths and dares. Penny?"

Penny checked the tablet. "Next, we have a dare from spatterson for Bowser and Mario!"

Bowser and Mario glanced at each other.

"Spat dares you two to be nice to each other for a month...and if you don't, Daisy must punch you really hard until you do."

Bowser folded his arms. "I'll never be nice to him."

"Would you rather get punched by Daisy?" asked Mario. Both men looked at Daisy, who was fully prepared to punch them.

Bowser sighed. "This is gonna be a looooong month..."

"My turn." DT pulled out her phone. "Now here's a truth question from bearvalley3365 for Mario. Bear asks...Will you ever be friends with Bowser Jr.?"

Mario shrugged. "I guess I could be if he weren't so...uh...yeah."

Penny's turn. "Now we have a dare from kookies14 for Bowser! K dares you to drink a gallon of salt water in under a minute."

"Uh...okay." A gallon of salt water appeared in front of Bowser. He drank it all with two seconds to spare.

Everyone gave him a weird look.

"What? It doesn't taste that bad," said Bowser.

"But that's a lot of salt content!" said Toad. Bowser just shrugged.

DT checked her phone again. "Next we have a truth question from kookies14 for Sonic. K asks...Sonic, whatever happened to your brother and sister, Sonia and Manic, aka Sonic Underground do you and Knuckles still see them and have you ever told all your friends about your brother and sister?"

Sonic stared at DT in disbelief. "I have siblings?!"

"I guess," said DT, shrugging. "Well, that all the time we have for today. Thank you for watching the..."

"Toadstool89's Truth or Dare Show Halloween Special!" said Penny.
