Chapter 35: The Discovery

Toad Town Studios, Awesome Office, 4:03 PM

Toadstool, Darrel, Purple, and Orange were sitting around the coffee table playing Uno when suddenly an incredibly bright light filled the room. The foursome shielded their eyes. A few moments later, a male figure stood where the light had been.

"Toadstool!" he called out. He sounded scared.

"Who the heck are you?" asked Darrel.

"He's the Guardian of the Sword of Prominence!" said a shocked Toadstool.

"The who of the what?" asked Purple.

"Guardian, what are you doing here? Am I dreaming?" asked Toadstool.

"I wish. Toadstool, do you remember how your spot in the Top 100 was faked?" asked the Guardian.

"Why does everyone have to keep reminding me..." Toadstool mumbled as she nodded to him.

"Do you know how it was faked?"

"No. Our producer Toadcedo has been trying to figure that one out for a while now," said Orange. "But he hasn't reported anything so far."

"Well, no news is good news, right?" asked Purple.

"Some news is good," said Darrel.

"Not this news," said the Guardian darkly. "It was King Rainbow who faked your popularity."

"Rainbow?! But why would he do something like that?" asked Toadstool angrily.

"Well, you foiled his evil plan of taking over my world, so he probably wanted to ruin your life in return," said the Guardian thoughtfully. "He might be trying to come to this world even as we speak."

"You don't think..." Toadstool began.

"Think what?" asked Purple.

"You don't think he's gonna try to come here and take over my show and studio?" asked Toadstool worriedly.

"I don't know, but I wouldn't put it past him," said the Guardian.

"If he is, then..." Toadstool stopped and sighed.

"Then what?" asked Orange.

"Guys...we might have to prepare for battle," said Toadstool.

"Battle? Uh, how could a guy named Rainbow be a threat to us?" asked Darrel.

"Don't underestimate him," said the Guardian. "He has an entire evil empire backing him up. He rules with an iron fist. He won't stop until all his enemies are dead."

"But I've defeated him before. I can defeat him again," said Toadstool.

"No, you can't," said the Guardian. "Not without this." He gave Toadstool the Sword of Prominence.

Toadstool swung the sword around a few times. "I forgot how much I missed this thing," she said.

"Can we discuss battle and swords later?" asked Darrel. "We have a show to do, if you haven't noticed."

"Right." Toadstool, Darrel, and Purple left the office.

Toad Town Studios, Main Stage, 4:28 PM

A human girl with feathered wings was already in the guest chair by the time they got there, which took a while since Toadstool kept checking for what she called "breeches in security".

"Hi, I'm Princess Jainera," said the girl.

"Hey," Toadstool muttered distractedly. She gave Jainera the stage instructions and went to sit in her chair, still thinking about a possible invasion.

"What's with the sword?" asked Peach.

"Oh, this?" Toadstool held up her sword and thought for a moment. She didn't want to tell anyone about King Rainbow until she was 100% sure that he was coming. "I'm...going to a Renaissance fair later this week," she said.

"Oh." Peach looked unconvinced, but she dropped the subject.

"We're live!" Darrel shouted.

"Hello, and welcome to Toadstool89's Truth or Dare Show!" said Toadstool, trying to make herself sound happy and not worried about anything at all. "I'm Toadstool Eighty Nine, but you can call me Toadstool. I have a special guest today. Please welcome...Princess Jainera!"

Jainera sat down in the guest chair.

"Welcome to the show," said Toadstool.

"Thanks for having me," said Jainera.

"So, you pick the first truth or dare since you're the guest," said Toadstool.

"Okay." Jainera looked at the options. "The first one...okay, we have sort of a dare from spatterson for Rosalina! They say they made up a nickname for you...Rosie. If you don;t like it, they'll make a new one."

"Hm...Rosie? I like it," said Rosalina.

"Cool. My turn." Toadstool looked over the options, too. "Alright, now we have a dare from Hayden McMillan for Mario! Hayden dares you to go through Mario Kart Stadium while riding Yoshi without crashing."

"Alright." Mario jumped through the warp pipe.

Jainera's turn. "And now we have some truth questions from AcornKingdom1 for Sonic and Viper! Sonic, do you know who Sally Acorn is?"

"Yeah, I remember her," said Sonic. "She's the princess of Knothole."

"Viper, do you like Crane?" asked Jainera.

"Yeah, I like him, but not in the way I assume you're thinking of," said Viper.

"And now we have some dares for the same user for Tigress and Amy!" said Toadstool. "Tigress, stop acting hardcore for three chapters."

"I can handle that," said Tigress.

"Amy, dress like a clown."

Amy shrugged and dressed like a clown.

"Next, we have a truth question from Taylor the hedge for Shadow!" said Jainera. "If you had to pick from princess peach or princess daisy who would you pick?"

"Uh...Daisy, I guess," Shadow said after a moment.

"Now here are some dares from Pokemon Fanboy for Cream, Toad, and Toadette!" said Toadstool. "Cream, you have to play Five Night's At Freddy's 2. And you get a plate of chocolate chip cookies."

"Yay..." Cream went into a room with a computer to play the game and eat her cookies.

"Toad and Toadette, you two ski down a big snowy mountain."

"Sounds like fun," said Toad.

"Let's go!" Toadette lead the way and she and Toad jumped in the warp pipe.

"We'll check on all of them later," said Toadstool. "But right now, I have a dare from me for Amy! Amy, I dare you to sing your theme song 'My Sweet Passion' from Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut. Blaze, Cheese, and Rouge will be your backup since Cream's playing a game." (Author's note: Been playing this game lately on my GameCube

"Okay," said Amy. She grabbed a microphone and gave one to her backup singers. They started to sing.

Amy: I got out my map and chose a place I wanted to go (Rouge: Packed up my stuff, set out for adventure...)
Amy: I know that your lucky color is that cool shade of blue (Rouge: Won't mind painting myself blue for you...)
Amy: I guess I'm so easy to understand
I just do whatever that comes to me naturally

Oh yeah

I do understand the feelings of a Persian cat (Cheese: But the Sphinx looked so cute, I had to shave it...)
Amy: He reminds me of parsley when he's standing there all alone (Cheese: Makes me wanna be his specialty...)
Amy: I guess I'm just a self-centered girl
But there are nights that I have trouble going to sleep

Amy, Rouge, Cheese, and Blaze bowed as everyone clapped for them. Amy was just about to sit back down when Cream came running back onto the stage in a panic.

"That game scares me!" she said as she hugged Amy, Amy hugged her back in an attempt to comfort her. Toad and Toadette came back through the warp pipe a few minutes later in warm coats. They looked like they had fun.

"Well, that all for today," said Toadstool. "See you next time on..."

"Toadstool89's Truth or Dare Show!" said Jainera.
