Chapter 37: Thanksgiving Special!
Toad Town Studios, Toadstool's Awesome Office, 8:00 AM
Toadstool swung her magic sword around, pretending to hit enemies with it. She got so caught up with it, she almost broke a lamp. She ignored it and kept swinging until she felt a hand on her arm. She stopped and faced Darrel.
"Dude, calm down," he said.
"I can't," said Toadstool. "I have to stay on my toes. I don't know when the evil king's coming. He's probably gonna try to kill me in my sleep or something. This whole thing's stressing me out!" Toadstool began pacing around the office.
"Toadstool." Darrel stood in front of Toadstool, putting an end to her pacing. "Are you one hundred percent absolutely certain that this Rainbow dude's coming?"
Toadstool paused to think. "Well...no, but..."
"Then just relax," said Darrel in a soothing tone. "Besides, it's Thanksgiving. You have family and food ahead of you, not evil invaders from other dimensions."
"I guess you're right," sighed Toadstool. "Oh! Hey, that means I get to do another holiday special on the show!" She brightened up a little. "Love doing those."
"There's that smile!" Purple said as he walked in the office.
"Hey, P," said Darrel.
"Hi," said Purple.
"Purple, have you seen Orange today?" asked Toadstool.
"I think she's at her grandma's for Thanksgiving dinner," Purple replied.
"That's cool. I'm actually going to my aunt's house after the show," said Toadstool. "A bunch of my relatives are going there, too."
"Sounds fun," said Darrel.
"Yeah. We're gonna talk and eat and it's gonna be fun. Actually," Toadstool thought out loud, "let's go ahead and start the show. The sooner it ends, the sooner I can get to my aunt's house."
"That makes sense," said Darrel. The trio got out of the Office.
Toad Town Studios, Main Stage, 8:24 AM
A human girl with black wavy hair and tomboy-ish clothes was waiting on the stage by the time the TToDS trio got there.
"Hello. Who are you?" asked Toadstool.
"Hi. I'm Danielle Gonzales. I'm here about the guest thing," said Danielle.
"Oh, okay." Toadstool gave Danielle the stage directions, and Danielle went into a corridor.
"We're live!" Darrel pointed at Toadstool.
Toadstool smiled, trying to push all thoughts of King Rainbow aside. "Hello, and welcome to the Toadstool89's Truth or Dare Show Thanksgiving Special! I'm Toadstool Eighty Nine, but you can call me Toadstool. I have a guest with me today to help me celebrate this event. Please welcome...Danielle Gonzales!"
Danielle waved at the camera and sat in the guest chair.
"Welcome to the show," said Toadstool.
"Thanks for having me," said Danielle.
"I have an announcement!" Toadstool waited until all eyes were on her before continuing. "We're gonna be doing things a little differently for today's episode. Since this is the Thanksgiving Special, my only dare for today is to say what you're thankful for. After Danielle picks a truth or dare first, of course." Toadstool looked at Danielle. "What are you thankful for?" she asked out of curiosity.
"My friends and family," Danielle replied.
"Me too," said Toadstool as she handed Danielle a tablet. "Pick whatever you want since you're the guest."
"Okay." Danielle looked at her options. "We have a dare from randombutterjelo for Shadow! The dare is for you to go super and fight Bowser as Giga Bowser."
The seven Chaos Emeralds appeared out of nowhere. "This'll be fun," said Shadow as he transformed into Super Shadow. Bowser hit a Smash Ball that appeared out of nowhere and transformed into his giant form, Giga Bowser. The two powered up people then engaged in battle. After a fierce battle, Shadow returned victorious. Bowser returned with a lot of Chaos Spear related injuries.
"And now for my Thanksgiving theme dare...which isn't really all that much of a dare but it still counts as one," said Toadstool. "Let's go in reverse roster order this time. So that means...Flora. What are you thankful for?"
"I'm very thankful that I live in a world full of nature," said Flora.
"Next is Bloom. What are you thankful for?" asked Toadstool.
"I'm thankful that my sister, Daphne, is okay," said Bloom.
"I'm thankful that my medicine cat skills help my Clan," said Jayfeather.
"I'm thankful for all the support I get from my Clanmates," said Squirrelflight.
"I'm thankful that I was Cinderpelt's apprentice before she died," said Leafpool wistfully.
"I'm thankful to call the Jade Palace home," said Tigress with a hint of fondness.
"I'm thankful to live with Cream and her mother, Vanilla," said Cheese.
"I'm thankful to have a great buddy like Cheese," said Cream. She and Cheese hugged.
"I'm thankful to be on the Chaotix team," said Espio.
"I'm thankful to have a noble guarding job," said Knuckles.
"I'm thankful for all the adventures I've been on," said Rouge.
"I'm thankful for my fire abilities, I guess," said Blaze.
"I'm thankful that I knew Maria..." Shadow said quietly.
"I'm thankful that I was able to save the future," said Silver.
"I'm thankful that I can help my friends with my inventions," said Tails.
"I'm thankful I can use my hammer to help defeat evil robots," said Amy.
"I'm thankful that I can use my speed to help people," said Sonic.
"I'm thankful for my desert home," said Daisy.
"I'm thankful for Polari and all of my Luma children," said Rosalina happily.
"I'm thankful that I'm able to play beautiful pieces of music," said Toadette.
"I'm thankful that I get to work alongside the princess," said Toad.
"I'm thankful for my brother," said Luigi.
"I'm thankful for you too, Luigi," said Mario.
"I'm thankful for my friends and all my people," said Peach.
"Our turn!" said Toadstool. "We'll go in reverse order, too. Purple?"
"Well...I guess I'm thankful that I haven't had to use the Bleeper that much," said Purple.
"I'm thankful that I can put all my technological skills to good use here," said Darrel.
"I'm thankful that I'm not dead yet," Toadstool murmured quietly. Her co-workers stared at her. "I mean, thankful that I finally got that package from the mail. Yeah..."
Toadstool's co-workers looked at her with concern. An air of awkwardness settled itself upon the medium sized studio. Thankfully Danielle decided to break it and get things back on track. She fake coughed, gaining the hostess's attention, and pointed toward her phone.
"Oh, right!" said Toadstool. She pushed herself out of her own gloomy thoughts knowing the show must go on, possible invasion or not. "It's your turn to choose, Danielle.
Danielle nodded and read over some suggestions. "Let's do this dare from dragon19kyoshi for Sonic. The dare is to eat five chili dogs within two minutes while blindfolded."
Sonic smiled since he'd be eating his favorite food for this dare. "Piece of cake!"
Sonic sat down and did the challenge. He finished with fifteen seconds to spare, albeit with chili dog chili everywhere since he'd been blindfolded for the whole challenge.
"And now me." Toadstool thought about which she should pick. "Um...okay! Here's a dare from .y for Cream and Cheese. The dare is for you two to sing a duet of any song you want. Oh, and you get chocolate ice cream afterward."
"I like ice cream," said Cheese.
Cream turned to her Chao buddy. "So what should we sing?"
Cheese shrugged. "I honestly don't know that many songs."
"Well how about something short and sweet?" Cream suggested.
Cheese thought about it. He whispered something in Cream's ear, and she nodded. She began to sing a short song, switching lines with Cheese.

They finished together on the last line. Everyone politely clapped as the duo sat back down and Purple gave them the ice cream they were promised.
"We're running out of time, but we can do one more truth or dare," said Toadstool. "Danielle?"
Danielle nodded. "Here's a truth question from the previous user for Daisy. If you were to have a wedding, who would be your bridesmaids? Your wedding planner? Flower girl? And you get a cookie if you say who the groom would be."
"Hm..." Daisy pondered the question. "I've never really thought about that. I don't look into that stuff much. But if I did have a wedding, Peach would likely be the planner and a bridesmaid, knowing her."
Peach giggled. "That's probably true."
Daisy continued. "Rosalina and Toadette might also be bridesmaids, or they might help with the wedding or something. The flower girl would probably be Baby Daisy. The groom, well...I don't know who I would spend my life with. I'd have to find the right guy first. It would probably be my Weegee though."
The green clad plumber blushed. Purple decided it was close enough and gave her a cookie.
"And that's all the time we have today," said Toadstool. "See you next time on..."
"Toadstool89's Truth or Dare Show!" said Danielle.
