Chapter 19: Baby Bombshell
"Concentrate." instructed the Captain, "What happened to you?"
Seven sighed deeply before looking up at the Doctor and silently requesting for him to let her out of her minor confinement. Taking the hint, he quickly disengaged the diagnostic bed so she could sit up.
"I was on the surface with Ensign Kim." she began slowly, "We'd just had dinner."
"When was this?" questioned the Doctor.
She turned her head to meet his eye. "The first day of shore leave… yesterday, I think." she answered slowly, uncertainly, "Commander Tuvok and I had completed our meeting with Hudersona on the planet, and then that evening I went down to the surface with Harry."
The Captain nodded. "Then what happened?"
Seven paused for a moment. "I… I felt a sharp pain in the back, my body went numb… and I blacked out."
The Captain felt her back go a little tense. It was the same thing that had happened to Ensign Kim.
"I woke up, and there was a bright light in my eyes…"
She couldn't see anything – the bright light above her face made sure of that. It essentially stabbed her sensitive eyes to the point she had to squeeze her eyelids together again.
With a soft yelp, Seven turned her head to the side so her eyes could adjust. It was only once they had that she managed to look around. Moaning softly, she tried to move her arms. It was that that made her notice she was bound to some sort of examination table. She tried to pull at her restraints but it made no difference. She was trapped.
Seven looked around the unfamiliar room. It didn't take her long to see that Ensign Kim was also bound to another table on the opposite side of the room. Unlike her, he was unconscious but they were both dressed in green medical outfits and connected to some type of medical monitors. She wasn't sure she liked what it meant.
"Ensign?" she managed to call after a moment.
To her relief, she immediately saw him stir. At least he wasn't unresponsive.
She watched as he awoke moments later, only to be blinded by the same light above his head from the overhead lamp. Like her, it took him a few moments before he managed to become partially aware of his surroundings.
He soon met her eye. "Seven?" he asked quite groggily, "Where the hell are we?"
She could barely shake her head. "I don't know."
He too tried to pull at his restraints. "Have you seen anyone?"
"No."
Ensign Kim had no time to say anything more as the sound of a nearby door caught his attention. Seven rolled her head over and saw two figures approaching them from a doorway, figures that the light made impossible for her to make out.
The smaller one, a female, went over to Harry.
"I'm Ensign Kim of the Starship Voyager. Who are you and what do you want?"
"Do not say anything!" the hidden figure ordered.
Seven found herself frowning. The voice, male, was familiar but she felt so disorientated, she was unable to determine who it was.
Looking back over at the woman, she saw her sedate Harry. His eyes rolled closed immediately and it worried her. Now she was alone. She watched on in a small state of horror as the young woman then injected him in the side of his neck with a rather long needle-like device. It was left there for a few moments before being extracted.
Her breathing hitched as the woman turned and began to head over to her. Was she about to do the same thing to her?
"Stop!" she ordered, "What are you doing?"
For a brief second, Seven was able to make out the details on the young woman's face. There was no doubt about it. She was Harrallian.
Still under orders of the hidden figure, the woman injected the device directly into Seven's abdomen. She moaned. It was most uncomfortable but not as painful as she had expected.
"Give her the serum."
Seven rolled her head towards the male voice. She was desperate to work out who it was, desperate to know who was in control of the operation.
"Yes, sir." the woman agreed timidly.
It was clear the young woman was struggling to accept the orders but for whatever reason, she wasn't disobeying them.
Seven soon became aware of a serum being injected into her neck. It was the last thing she could recall before being sedated too.
The Doctor and Captain shared increasingly concerned looks before looking back towards Seven.
"Then what happened?" the Doctor enquired.
Seven thought carefully about it. Her thoughts were still so disorganised that she found it difficult to try and understand it all. However, she was slowly putting the pieces together.
The Captain, on the other hand, was deeply biting into her lip. It was becoming clearer that Hudersona had done something to the younger woman and she didn't take kindly to the thoughts she was having.
"I awoke three hours later and felt nauseous." Seven continued, "The Harrallian woman gave me two hyposprays. The first one stopped the nausea and the second one sedated me."
The Doctor nodded slowly. "And then…?"
Seven awoke abruptly three hours later. The pain in her lower back and abdomen was something she had never quite experienced before. While her back ached in a merciless way, her abdomen was rather sore and tender. Just what had they done to her?
She attempted to lift her head and look around but she didn't have the strength. She could barely keep her eyes open. However, she somehow managed to roll her head to the side and look over in Ensign Kim's direction. She felt her eyes widen when she saw him still sedated and an active device resting on his forehead.
"What are doing to him?" Seven demanded to know, her voice startling the young woman whose back was to her.
Turning slowly, the young woman noticeable gulped. She looked almost as fearful as Seven was trying to hide. She had to find a way to get both herself and Harry out of there and back to the ship.
"We're letting him sleep.'" she responded timidly. She really didn't know what else to say.
Seven tried to argue but her movement of trying to shift her body made her wince. A sharp pain had shot both up her back and down her legs.
The woman fear was replaced with sympathy. "Are you in pain?"
Seven rolled her eyes at the woman's audacity. Of course she was. They'd clearly done something to her.
Moaning again, she somehow found the strength to lift her head slightly. What she saw took her breath away. Her stomach was swollen – the bump clear under the green medical shirt.
"W-What have you done to me?" she cried.
The young woman barely moved while Seven just looked down at her stomach in disbelief.
"I'm… I'm pregnant?"
Her breathing began to speed up, her hands automatically pulling at her restraints. Now she wanted to break free more than ever.
"I am sorry for what is happening." the woman apologised in attempt to evade the question, "I really, really am."
It was only then that Seven started to panic. She was trapped in a laboratory on an alien planet with Ensign Kim was unconscious. There was no noticeable way out, no way she could contact Voyager, she couldn't even move.
"Let me go." Seven begged, "Please, let me go."
The woman trembled in her place. "I'm sorry." she whispered, "I can't… Not yet."
The woman soon scurried away, leaving Seven alone in the darkened room. With nothing more to do than accept her fate, she allowed herself to examine her stomach. From what she could tell, she had been impregnated only six hours ago yet her body was the equivalent to being six months along. It didn't look as though she had much time to find a way out.
The Captain was stood in the bay with her teeth pressing sharply into the bottom of her lip. She honestly couldn't believe what she was hearing – Seven had been impregnated against her will. Now didn't that sound all too familiar.
The Doctor was as noticeably shocked, and angered, as the Captain. What she was describing was a violation in the most horrendous form.
"What happened next?" he questioned.
Seven sighed, rubbing the top of her forehead. "I… I fell asleep." she remembered.
The Captain found herself messing roughly with her fingers. She had a feeling she knew what was coming next.
The Doctor nodded to himself. "And then what?"
"I awoke to a crippling pain in my lower abdomen around three hours later." Seven reported.
The Captain felt her eyes fall closed and a silent sigh escape her lips. Nine months.
Her eyes opened. "You'd gone into labour?" she asked slowly.
Seven nodded.
The pain increased considerably with each passing second and it wasn't long before Seven honestly believed she was close to passing out. She had experienced pain before but nothing like that, and it had only been a few minutes. Couldn't labour last for hours?
Scanning Seven's lower abdomen, the young woman looked noticeably worried, something which deeply concerned Seven. Not that she'd ever understood the mechanics of birth but surely the rushed gestation could easily have affected the way her labour was progressing.
"Sir, the baby's heartbeat's dropping rapidly." the woman reported, "And she's nowhere near ready to deliver."
The male Harrallian was still stood out of Seven's sight.
"Speed up her contractions." he ordered, "I want that baby, I don't care about her."
The young woman's eyes widened considerably. When she signed up for this, he agreed that no lasting harm would come to either of them.
"Sir…" she objected.
Seven was aware the male had stepped closer but she was in too much pain to pain attention to exactly who he was.
The man grabbed the young woman's collar. "I want that baby." he sneered.
The young woman gulped. She wanted nothing more than to find a way to get out of her predicament. She'd have run forever if she had to. However, there was no way out, and she couldn't leave Seven in the state she was in. Her boss wouldn't have cared for her safety – it was down to her.
"Yes, sir."
Another two injections later, Seven's labour had advanced at a phenomenal rate. Now she was dilated enough to give birth, a process she was not looking forward to.
"Okay, it's time for you to push."
"He was born about forty minute later." Seven reported, wiping away a few rogue tears which began to roll down her face, "And then they took him away."
The Captain felt her heart hammer into her ribs as she watched Seven break down in front of her. She wouldn't have wished the experience on even her worst enemy.
A single tear ran down her face, something she managed to quickly wipe away but not before the Doctor noticed. Of course, it was hard for her. She was due to become a mother herself soon.
Pulling herself together, the Captain put her hand on Seven's shoulder.
"We'll find him. That's a promise, Seven."
