A few days later The Doctor frowned worriedly reading the scans on the computers and AL came in yawning.
*Good morning Doctor, did I get it right this time TARDIS?*
(Yes little cub, you said the right phrase. Good morning.)
*What is with the grumpy face?* AL asked looking at the Doctor.
"I don't have a grumpy face…" He fought back and saw the dubious expression on his young friend's face. "I'm thinking."
*Your thinking face and grumpy face are the same.* AL taunted him slightly and he sighed in exasperation. *What are you thinking about?* She tried again.
"I've just found a strange signal shooting off from Earth in the year 2005. Seems like it maybe the Nestene Consciousness."
*What the Randetti is a Nestene Consciousness?*
"It's an alien life form that eats the planet from the inside out. If it's on Earth then the planet could be dead within a year or two."
*So we're back to work?* AL asked excitedly and The Doctor smirked.
"But first we need a special kind of battery, it was only available during the mid forties. So we're making a pit stop in 1946 England first."
AL was now standing in a back alley in London during 1946 she sighed because the Doctor had just informed her that he was having a little trouble getting the battery and he would be a couple more hours. She had the hair filter on and the steam punk goggles.
"I like your goggles…" A nervous voice stated beside her and she turned in surprise to see a 14 year old male standing beside her. "They are neat." He offered again and AL felt irritation at this person. "My name is Richard."
AL brought out a writing tablet and wrote down.
-My name is AL.-
"Oh can't you talk?" Richard asked worriedly and AL shook her head and Richard frowned sadly. "That's not fun, I had a stuttering problem when I was younger."
-I am waiting for my friend, but he informed me not too long ago that he would be a couple more hours.- AL wrote down and Richard sighed in defeat.
"Boyfriend?" He asked unsure and AL shot him a weird look.
-What is a boyfriend?- She asked and Richard blushed.
"Somebody you spend time with, that you like as more than a friend." Richard answered while his blush darkened and AL nearly snorted in laughter.
-I do not think I can see my friend as that.-
When Richard read that response he seemed to brighten up again and AL started to admit it was slightly adorable.
"Well, if your friend is going to be a few hours, you can accompany me to the cinema! A new movie is playing, besides it's about to start raining. I'd hate to think somebody as pretty as yourself is catching a cold due to waiting in the weather." Richard stated simply and offered her his arm.
-Movie?-
"Yes it was done in the America, it's called "It's a Wonderful Life." Would you like to see it with me?"
-Okay.-
"GREAT!" Richard practically lit up with happiness and he led her across the street to the cinema.
An hour or so later the two of them walked out and AL was surprised that humans managed to create amazing works of art like that.
"AL!" The Doctor looked around and spotted his friend across the street with a young male by her side. "Oh that's not good…" He frowned at his friend. "AL!" He shouted again and she looked over at him and smiled.
Richard looked over and frowned seeing an older man glaring at them, or more importantly, at 'him'.
"Is that your friend?" Richard asked worriedly and AL smiled and nodded. She motioned to the man to wait and she turned to Richard. "Your friend is an adult male?"
AL gave him a perplexed look and shrugged with a nod.
"I guess that is why you can't see your friend as something 'more'." Richard admitted sheepishly and AL quirked an eyebrow at him and he blushed again. "He's getting a bit twitchy over there, so I guess I will see you later…?" Richard looked hopeful and AL's smirk slightly faded and she shrugged not really knowing what to say. "I see…" Richard deflated slightly and pouted before he brought AL's hand to his lips and lightly kissed the back of it.
"OI!" The Doctor glared at the boy now.
"I am grateful to have met you Miss, AL." Richard started to walk away when he face palmed and walked back. "I'm sorry, I almost walked away without giving you my 'whole' name!" Richard smirked sheepishly again. "Lazarus, Richard Lazarus."
The Doctor had enough of this and walked over and grabbed AL by her arm.
"We need to go and that 'thing' AL!" The Doctor stated angrily and tugged her away and she sent Richard a sad shrug and waved goodbye to him.
*What was that for?* AL pouted when they entered the TARDIS.
"I don't like that boy…his time line is all screwed up."
*Get the battery?* AL sulked thinking about the new friend she had made.
"Yeah, I got it. And no, you are not seeing that boy again!"
*So I guess we're going back to 2005 to find this Nestene thing?* AL was still sulking and The Doctor rolled his eyes.
"Yes we are, I've got the battery to concoct the anti-plastic."
AL stomped back to her room and pouted on her bed.
*TARDIS I don't understand what happened!*
(My thief tends to get a little possessive over his companions. But I do agree with him, there is something 'wrong' with the boy you met.)
*He seemed nice though. And he was polite! He took me to a movie!*
(Wrong as in not yet. There will be something wrong with him.)
*Will he be okay?*
(I am not sure little cub, but try to ease it from your mind.)
*But I liked him.* AL pouted slightly and the TARDIS sighed in defeat.
