Maria Tsukino dreams of being reunited with her husband and son. She'd never thought that she would outlive them both, what with her husband being filled with life and her son being twenty-two years younger than her. They were truly the lights in her life, but thankfully, Shingo, her grandson, is much like Kenji, so at least she can feel like he's there with her.

She had quite the scare today. She was almost happy as she fell, hoping death had come to claim her and take her to her family, who are almost all on that side, except for her two grandchildren, Shingo and Usagi. She grunts at the thought of the girl. Kenji had told her that she wasn't exactly exceeding in her classes, so Maria had only tried to set her straight. She just got so frustrated sometimes, and couldn't handle it. Maybe she's so annoyed by her because she reminds her of herself when she was younger.

Maria tries to shake her head at the thought. No, Usagi's better than that. Maria can see. She'd only been so cruel so as to set her straight, as she'd said, and to make her tougher. Maria can see that she's destined for greatness, and it's in her blood, so she only wanted to set her up for that.

And that man that she was with, her betrothed, "fiancé" as she'd put it. He seemed fitting. "Mamoru Chiba", she'd said his name was. Maria thinks she remembers hearing that name before. Then she remembers that the man was to go to America when she was worked as a professor there a few years ago, because the people at NYU liked his theory. She chose a smart man, but Maria could tell by the way she looked at him that that was only a small part, if anything, of it.

Maria feels herself drawing closer to the shore of consciousness, and her eyes slide open. She looks around the dark room, and sees a clock on a shelf across the room. She squints and sees it reads 3:30 am. She looks around some more, and sees two figures in the room, one sitting in a chair, the other laying on a couch next to her bed. The one in the couch is close enough that she can see it's Shingo, and she feels thankful that she did survive, because if she didn't, who would look after him? His sister, maybe?

Speaking of, the person in the chair shifts and she sees that it's her. Maria swallows. "Grandmother?" Usagi asks softly. "Are you awake?"

Maria purses her lips. Why did Usagi care to stay? She said it herself, she's sick of Maria.

Maria feigns sleep, snoring lightly. Usagi sighs. "Then, I guess you won't mind me saying that I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said what I said, it was just in the heat of the moment. I can't help but feel responsible for all of this, since I was yelling at you right before it happened, but I just had all this pent-up anger towards you for everything you did to me while I lived with you. I know I'm not the easiest person to get along with sometimes, but maybe now we can try to. I'll do my best!" Then, the curtain rustles, and the door opens and closes, and Usagi is gone.

Maria sighs. The poor girl. She's been through so much.

Usagi sighs shakily, silently shutting the door behind her. She swallows, and looks around, as if she were a fugitive about to get caught. When the coast is clear, she jogs away, checking her back over her shoulder a couple of times. She trips over her feet a little, but catches herself. She checks again, to make sure no one was watching, and then continues on, carefully.

She wonders a little, hoping she can remember her way back, or at least that there's a map somewhere. She passes by a big room with windows, and stops to look in a little bit. She smiles at the newborn children waiting to go home with their new parents. She reads the names: Takahashi Akane, Fujimoto Kazuki, Satou Ai.

Usagi smiles, placing her hand on the glass. After she gets married, she wants to have a child of her own. She can't wait for the day.

"Hey."

She jumps slightly, and looks to see Shingo approaching. "Oh, you scared me! What are you doing here?"

He shrugs. "I was just walking around." Usagi raises an eyebrow, and he laughs. "Okay, I followed you. But I woke up when you started talking. After what you said…" He sighs. "I dunno, I just felt like I couldn't leave you alone, so I followed you."

Usagi smiles. "Thanks for worrying about me, kid."

"Was it true, what you said back at the house? About being engaged to him?"

Usagi nods. "Yeah. August twenty-first is the date, if you wanna come."

"Ooh, is that an official invite?"

She laughs, and so does he. "Haha, nah, that's a pseudo-invite. The real one comes in the mail next week."

"I see. Well, of course I wanna come!" He laughs, then sniffs. "Dad would blow a gasket."

Usagi smiles. "Yeah. You know, sometimes, a wave of sorrow washes over me at the smallest things, and I miss them terribly all over again. But then, I usually go to a friend or Mamo-chan, and I feel better." She looks at him and sniffs. "You have a girlfriend?"

Shingo nods and pulls out his wallet. He shows her a picture of him and a girl with medium-length brown hair and a cute smile. "Her name is Yukio. You could say we're pretty serious, been dating for almost a year. I'm gonna bring her home when all of this is over and done with."

Usagi smiles. "She's cute."

Shingo puts the wallet back in his pocket. "So, what are you looking at babies for, anyway?"

"Because I want one, Shingo. I want a child of my own. Babysitting just…" She sighs. "It isn't the same." She thinks of how she used to babysit Chibiusa. Even though she was technically hers, she still wasn't. "Maybe you don't understand."

Shingo shakes his head. "No, I get it. You want something you hadn't wanted before, and substitution just isn't gonna cut it."

Usagi smiles longingly at the small infants. "Yeah."

As the Queen is passing by her daughter's bedroom, she hears a longing sigh and a small sob. She purses her lips and knocks lightly on the door. Pushing it open slightly, she sympathetically says, "Honey, what's wrong?"

Kousagi sniffs. "It's nothing you would understand," she says, turning around.

The Queen laughs. "Are you kidding me?"

"No! You've only ever had Dad! You've probably never fought before ever."

The Queen laughs again. "It's interesting that you would say that. We've never had a real fight before, yes, but it's not like we've always gotten along. Before we dated, I totally hated his guts. He was that jerk that always used to tease me." She sits on her daughter's bed, sighing in reminiscence. "What's up?"

"Well," says Kousagi with a sniffle, "I called Usagi on my Luna-U doll, and she let me talk to him, and we were until he said—" She purses her lips, seemingly rethinking her words. "—something, and it was weird. It didn't seem like something he would say, and what it was was kind of…" She swallows. "I dunno, but I didn't like it. I kinda got mad at him, and hung up on him."

The Queen raises an eyebrow. She sighs, thinking. What can she say that will help? "Tell you what. When he gets back, just do what feels natural."

Kousagi looks up at her, confused. "'Natural'? Like what?"

The Queen smiles at her daughter. "That's for you to figure out."

Mamoru stretches and yawns. His muscles are sore, like he spent the whole night sleeping on rocks. He rubs the sleep out of his eyes, or tries to, but he didn't get a good night's sleep. He looks around the room tiredly. The other snoring people and the normal beeps and creaks of a hospital remind him that he spent the night in the ICU waiting room.

He looks to his right, expecting to find Usagi there for some reason, even though she slept with Shingo and her grandmother, but there's nothing there. He blinks.

He looks around some more, and sees Shingo pass through the hallway, assumingly going back to that room. "Shingo!" he hisses, and gets up.

Shingo stops and looks to see who called him. "Oh, Mamoru-san. She's by the nursery," he says with a smile.

Mamoru blinks. "Th-Thanks. How did you—"

"You two are so predictable. That's how."

Usagi sighs. "Is this wrong?" she asks. She'd sensed him standing there for a while, but neither of them had said anything.

He wraps his arms around her. "I know how you feel," he says.

She smirks. "That's not an answer."

He sighs. "I don't know if it's wrong or not."

She turns around and hugs him back. "It feels like time has stopped when we finally want it to fly."

He chuckles. "I wish I had the answer."

Then it hits her, and her blood turns cold.

"What if we know too much about our future? People always say that you shouldn't know too much about your future, but what if we already do? What if—"

He covers her mouth, cutting her off, and smiles. "We'll be fine. Quit worrying!"

"Really?" she says, still muted.

He nods, then moves his hand to kiss her. She wraps her arms around his neck, all her panic melting away.

Jose sighs and pushes open the door to Crown Fruits Parlor. He takes a seat at the bar and lays his head on his arms.

"Hi there," someone says, and he hears a glass being set down next to him. He lifts his head to see a beautiful brunette standing behind the counter smiling at him. He sees a tall glass of vanilla milkshake next to him with a maraschino cherry on top, the stem still attached. "Rough day?"

He sighs. "Sort of. I think I kind of pissed off my girlfriend."

The girl smiles in understanding. "Ah, I see." She holds out her hand. "Furuhata Unazuki. Nice to meet you."

He takes her hand and shakes it. "Jose Yuki Sapphire... How much for the shake?"

Her eyebrows raise. "That's quite the fancy name you have. And don't worry about it, it's on the house," she says with a wink.

Jose smiles and shrugs. "A name's a name. And thank you very much, Unazuki-chan," he says playfully, and she giggles.

"So you say you pissed off your girlfriend, huh?" She sits and rests her elbows on the counter, allowing her head to lay on her hands. "Tell me about it. Maybe I can be of some assistance."

He shrugs. "Maybe. Let's see, where do I start...?" She laughs, but it's true. He can't possibly tell her the truth, which involves telling her that he traveled back in time. He purses his lips. "I'm here studying abroad, you see."

"You speak very fluently. And I guess that explains the extravagant name."

He smiles, abashed. "Thank you. Anyway, so I haven't seen her in about three years, and haven't been able to talk to her much since I've been so busy with studying and everything. I think she used to live around here, when she was growing up, and apparently there was this girl here that she really hated. But, I got to talking to that girl, and she's really nice. I got to talk to my girlfriend today, and I told her that, but then she got all mad, and I guess she felt betrayed. I really do care about her, and I don't want her to be mad."

Unazuki nods. "You should apologize. Even if you don't mean it, all she wants to hear is 'I'm sorry.'"

Jose purses his lips. That's the exact opposite of what Akira said. He will never understand how the female brain works! "See, I talked to one of my friends, and she said that I should be honest, and say 'sorry' only if I'm really sorry."

Unazuki ponders this. "Well, you could do that. Or you could do what I said. Whichever you think would work better. Are you sorry?"

"For hurting her, yes. For what I said, I don't see anything to be sorry about."

Unazuki shakes her head. "See, she feels betrayed because she thought you were on the same side as her. She thought that she could always turn to you if she felt she needed to. But now, you've befriended the enemy, and all she sees is a traitor."

"I see. Thank you, Unazuki-chan."

She smiles. "That's what I'm here for—to help people through comfort food and advice. Also, if you want some extra advice, I have some friends who're the best when it comes to love. They come in every so often. Here, I'll write down their numbers and addresses. They won't be weirded out because I send people to them all the time." She takes her note pad and pen for taking orders and scribbles on it.

Jose takes it and thanks her, afraid of what's on the paper.

He takes a look at the sheet as he walks out the door.

Fears: Confirmed.

"Makoto Kino

Sundown Apartments #315A

Minako Aino

Sundown Apartments #364B"

Jose doesn't know the senshi that well, but well enough to suddenly show up on their doorsteps looking for love advice. He sighs and knocks on the door.

"Hold on a sec!:" Minako shouts from inside. She opens the door. "Oh, Jose-san. I thought you were gonna be another one of Unazuki's friends, so I kind of tidied up… What's up?"

He swallows. He doesn't know what she meant by that. "Uh… um…" he stutters, flustered. She looks expectantly. "Well, that's kind of…"

She rolls her eyes and smiles. "Did you talk to Unazuki?"

He shuts his mouth and nods sheepishly.

"Come on in," she says, and opens the door wider for him.

"Thanks," he mumbles.

"So what's up?" she asks.

"Kousagi's mad at me. I've gotten two different opinions, but I'm still not sure what I should do."

"Why's she mad at you?" she asks, not sounding interested as she picks at her fingernails

Jose purses his lips. Minako looks up at him, waiting. "It's okay, you can tell me," she says. "Whatever it is. What's said here doesn't leave." She holds up her right hand. "Doctor-patient confidentiality," she says with a smile.

He sighs. "Okay." He tells her the story, watching her carefuly, but not a hint of judgement flashes across her face as she listens attentively to what he says. Even as he says that he hated Usagi, her expression remains constant, focused.

"Hm," Minako says, staring off. "That's an interesting situation, but, of course, your case is interesting anyway. What you need to do is tell her the truth!" She claps her hands together and moves into another room. Jose follows her. "Well, you know what they say, haste makes waste, so let's get to work!"

Jose smiles politely. "Um, Minako-sama, that's not—"

She glares at him. "Do you want my help or not?"

"Y-Yes—"

"Then don't judge me! Do everything I say if you want your girlfriend back!"

To him, that sounds like something one would say about a hostage, but he bites his tongue. He really does want her help, so he just decides to do everything she says, no questions asked.

He really hopes this works.

I've been soooo busy recently, it's not even funny. So, the next chapter might be sort of late, but that's only 'cause this week is just a train wreck. As always, thanks for reading!
