"Riku?"
No response.
"Riku?" Kairi tried again, shaking her sleeping friends shoulder.
"Hnn…? Wha-?" Riku groggily woke up, turning to look at his friend. "Kairi? What's going on?"
Kairi glanced around nervously; suddenly ashamed of the reason she woke him.
"I… I'm thirsty." she stuttered.
"So? Go get some water." Riku stated grumpily, annoyed at having been woke up.
"But Riku, I'm scared! What… what if there are monsters?" the girl asked quietly, whispering the last word.
Riku turned back over, staring at his young friend. She was fidgeting, looking around the dark room anxiously. He sighed, getting out of his sleeping bag and grabbing their flashlight.
"Don't worry Kairi. I'll protect you from the monsters," he said, walking across the room and stepping over Sora's snoring, sprawled-out form.
Kairi followed him, smiling gratefully. "Thank you, Riku!"
"Don't mention it. Come on."
