Chapter 15: War
I was seated curled up once more in the stone cold white room. I glanced to look at the glass coffin beside me, and all I felt was that sense of dread, and something else that I couldn't quite place a finger on –
He must hate me at the very least, or, he must want to kill me – for after all that I had done.
I couldn't quite forget the look that he gave as he staggered back and fell onto the ground, after he had fended off the hoard of Vampires. An infallible vampire had fallen, and it was partly, if not entirely my fault. I sighed and very abruptly, those eyes of his opened.
It took him awhile to register my presence, and within a blink of an eye, he was by my side grabbing onto my arm in a tight grip. I winced, and he narrowed his eyes.
"If I could kill you now, I would," Godric uttered slowly, if looks could kill. I probably would be lying dead on the ground right now. Realising that his grip was much tighter than he had expected, Godric released me abruptly and I fell. He sighed, and the expression in his eyes changed slightly before stepping in to help me.
I dodged his hands and he narrowed his eyes before saying, "You could have almost gotten yourself killed."
"That would be the least of your worries," I said, struggling to get up, detesting the fact that I must looked rather helpless like this. Sighing loudly, he got closer and lifted me easily horizontally and carried me up the stairs towards the living area.
My struggles proved futile since his grip was firm and after a while, I decided not to move altogether. Godric placed me on the couch and he settled into the opposite couch himself. One of his servers got him a glass to drink. He gulped it down in one mouth and placed his gaze on me. I returned his stares steadily; we were caught in this silent war for a bit when he finally uttered, "Eric,"
"I'll need you to save him and I'll spare Elliot."
"Deal."
I said, "But you'll have to give me some time, I'll need to figure out what I am exactly too."
Godric nodded, "Any clues?"
I mulled over that for a bit and shook my head, when I suddenly recalled something, "My Aunt… her ex-husband may have a clue, he knew my parents. The only thing is…."
"Is?" Godric asked, raising a pretty brow and I continued, "He usually hangs in pretty seedy places and I can only think of one place that I may find him at."
Godric was still waiting for me to continue, "It's a club, and ah, the people there fancy your kind. They're what you call, fangbangers?"
Godric nodded, "I highly doubt they'll be interested in me."
I shrugged, begging to differ in my head, "So you'll be accompanying me?" I asked and Godric nodded lightly, before grabbing the keys. I looked astounded and Godric looked at me, "We'll have to drive there. I could travel by foot, but let's not stain my new shoes, shall we?"
…
…
I realised that besides driving people insane with his psychotic ways of murder, Godric's driving skills were off the records too. He had maxed out the speed limits by double several times and I was just glad that my food remained in my stomach once the drive was over.
I forgot that we were in a shadier part of town and people were eyeing his grey Porsche in an appreciative manner the moment we arrived. I lowered my eyes and tried to steer a clear distance away from him as I noticed several girls turning their gaze to him.
They really didn't know what they were getting themselves into. I shook my head slightly and stood at the entrance. The bouncer glanced at Godric, and he nearly wanted to ask for an ID when Godric gave him the coldest gaze and the bouncer backed away.
"Sure, he's one of those." The other bouncer said and let him in, "You'll have fun, chicks dig your kind." He gave Godric a thumbs up sign and Godric merely glanced at me before heading in.
"I did warn you before," I uttered in defense as we got into the club. It was smoky, and lights danced across us in cascading moments. My eyes shifted around to the furthest room and I signaled to Godric when a group of girls surrounded him. Godric looked at me and I shrugged once more, "Can't help you there."
He looked ready to kill but I shook my head, "No, or deal's off." He sighed loudly and walked away from the girls towards me, "We're together," He said loudly and placed an arm around me, "Sorry, but my girlfriend's a little what's the word? Possessive of me."
My smile froze and Godric was leaning in to prove that we're together when I finally stepped in, "Sorry girls, he's taken." I said and held up his hands that were entwined with mine. The girls gave out disappointed sighs and walked away as we turned towards the dance floor once more.
I was still holding onto Godric's hands when I realised that and quickly dropped it, but Godric grabbed them easily and held them in a firm tight grip, "That's for leaving me behind."
I was about to say something when a familiar voice called me from the back, "Poppy?"
I glanced and to my surprise and horror, I saw a person that I haven't seen since my mum had passed on. "Uncle Jeffrey?"
My voice came out and I felt a slight sense of dread crawling underneath my skin as alarms were ringing in my head.
"You've brought him over, after all. Good job, Poppy! We'll take it from here," Uncle Jeffrey said as the entire club turned into a war zone and thousands of silver bullets rained onto Godric just as he pushed me away towards somewhere safe.
