First of all, i am so sorry for the long wait. I've had a rough semester. I still have four massive research papers to write in the next three weeks, on top of an exam, three finals, two Middle English Memorization passages, an entire novel to read, and much other homework assignments. This story will continue, it's just going to be excruciatingly slow. I am sorry for that. But here's the next chapter.

Chapter 14: The Sound of Drums

Once Jack had left Torchwood, Freya was able to go outside. It felt magnificent to feel the sunlight on her skin once more.

Ianto and the rest of the team had been shipped off to the Himalayas a few days before, and although Ianto had told her not to go out if she could help it, her and Lil' Red were running low on groceries.

So on the day of the announcement of the election, Freya and Lil' Red bundled up and made a quick trip to the grocery store. The trip was rather uneventful, so uneventful that Freya promised to take Lil' Red to the park the next day.

They were toting the bags back to the apartment when they saw it. On a giant television screen was an image of the Master.

The Master, and the woman who was now his wife.

And Bad Wolf.

Freya gripped Lil' Red tighter to her side as she watched.

The Master had won the election. He was now Prime Minister.

"FREYA!"

The voice came from across the street. Freya spun, Lil' Red turning with her.

Before she could really register and see who was shouting at her, she was being barreled into. She barely kept the sacks of groceries in her arms. When she managed to look up, Jack was holding her while wearing a grin. The Doctor and Martha were close behind him and the Doctor swept her into his arms as soon as Jack released her.

The Doctor still had her in his arms when he glanced back at the Master.

"In fact, I'd go so far as to say that what this country really needs right now is a Doctor," the Master said with a smirk on screen before sweeping Bad Wolf into his arms and grinning for the camera, a squirming two year old in his arms.

"What happened to you? How long have you been here?" Jack asked in alarm.

"And where are we?" Martha added, glancing around.

"Cardiff. I've been here eighteen months. We should hurry up and get back to the flat. I shouldn't have come out here," Freya said in alarm, glancing around.

"Eighteen months? But it's election day? That's only a few days after I flew off with you," Martha pointed out.

"Wait. You've been here for eighteen months? But….in Cardiff? I've been in Cardiff," Jack pointed out nervously.

"And it's been real difficult, avoiding you," Freya said as she led them quickly to Ianto's apartment. It wasn't until they made it into the building that Jack stopped in his tracks.

"But…this is where Ianto lives," Jack said.

"Ianto – he's the bloke that came with us once, right?" the Doctor asked.

"Yeah. I live with him," Freya said as they hurried inside.

"You live with Ianto and I never ran into you?" Jack asked suspiciously.

"I told him we were from a different point in your time stream and needed to avoid you," Lil' Red said happily as she skipped to the apartment.

"Where's Ianto now?" Jack asked.

"The whole team had a mission in the Himalayas," Freya said, frowning slightly.

"What team?" the Doctor asked.

"Jack's team. Torchwood 3," Freya said. The Doctor stiffened at the words.

"What's Torchwood?" Martha wanted to know.

"The reason I nearly lost Freya for good," the Doctor grit out.

"They're different," Jack argued.

"They really are. They've helped me out. Without Ianto taking care of me and Owen monitoring my pregnancy, I never would have made it this far on my own," Freya pointed out.

"We need to get to London. That's where everything's happening, that's where the Master is," the Doctor said.

"He knows we're here. We have to be careful," Jack warned.

"He's the prime minister now. How much control is he going to have?" Freya asked critically.

"A lot," Martha said.

"We should be prepared," Freya said.

"What?" Martha asked, momentarily confused.

"Yeah! Uncle Yanto won't mind if we borrow his stuff?" Lil' Red asked with wide eyes before she batted her eyelashes at Jack. Jack could only chuckle at her.

"That flirting's dangerous. Your parents might not like you flirting with me," Jack warned her before ruffling her hair.

"But she has a point. Can we break into the Hub and get equipment?" Freya asked.

"I don't like the idea of breaking in," the Doctor said.

"It's not breaking in if I go. I'm the leader," Jack said, puffing out his chest.

"Hey leader, your fly's undone," Freya said drily. Jack glanced down quickly, only to give her a sly grin.

"Someone was looking," he said with a wink.

"Someone was not looking. I figured it was a believable enough lie to make you check," Freya pointed out as she swiped Ianto's keys from the desk near the door.

"Lil' Red, darling, can you pack as much of the groceries that you think'll last for us into the bag Ianto gave me last Christmas?" Freya asked. Lil' Red nodded and took off running to do exactly what her mother had asked her to.

"You've been living with Ianto for a long time," Jack observed carefully.

"Yeah. It's been really difficult, avoiding you. Ianto's been a Godsend, really," Freya said as Lil' Red came back from the kitchen before shoving most of the contents from our grocery bags into the bag as well.

"Bigger on the inside," Freya told Martha, who was staring.

"Where did this Ianto fellow get bags that were bigger on the inside?" the Doctor asked suspiciously.

"Alien tech. He wasn't supposed to have it, but he swiped it for me. I thought it was sweet. Darling, take Daddy and Martha into the kitchen and finish packing food and essentials," Freya said.

"Where are you going?" Lil' Red asked.

"I'm going to pack us some things. Jack'll help me," Freya said.

"Like hell he'll help you," the Doctor muttered angrily.

"Faster we pack, faster we can get out of here. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they find us," Freya pointed out. She hurried around before they met in the living room.

"Can we just use the Vortex Manipulators to get to Torchwood?" Lil' Red asked.

"I don't know how to get in using mine," Jack admitted. Lil' Red swiped his arm and pressed buttons for a few minutes before flashing him a wide smile.

"Now you do. Mom, Dad, with me. Uncle Jack, don't flirt with Martha when you take her with," Lil' Red ordered as she flipped her hair and grabbed Freya and the Doctor's hands.

They appeared in the center of the Hub, where Lil' Red turned and took off running.

"Where are you going?" Freya asked immediately.

"Disarming the alarms. Don't worry. Then I'm heading to the Archives. Uncle Ianto always told me where all the good stuff was," Lil' Red said with a wink as Jack and Martha appeared.

"She seems awfully flirty," Martha accused.

"She spends a good deal of her time growing up around Jack. What do you expect?" Freya asked.

"Actually, I'd blame her si-, nevermind. My wife's probably a good cause of the flirting," Jack finished sheepishly.

"I don't know, Ianto can be a dirty flirt when he puts his mind to it. He's got the same quiet flirting personality that blended well with Lil' Red. I wouldn't be surprised if she picked up most of her flirting from him," Freya corrected as the flashing lights turned back to normal.

Jack and Lil' Red took off running around the place, scooping equipment into bags before making their way back to them.

"Right. London. Martha's flat," Freya said, glancing at them. Martha nodded apprehensively. They separated and used the Vortex Manipulators once more, Jack and Martha complaining when they landed in Martha's apartment.

"Our trip wasn't so bad," Freya commented.

"That's cause I'm better at it than Uncle Jack," Lil' Red said with a grin. Martha quickly threw a bag together after handing the Doctor her laptop.

"We should have checked while we were at the Hub," Freya pointed out as the Doctor booted up the internet, scanning websites at an alarming speed.

"Saxon's been around for ages," Jack pointed out.

"Of course he has. I told you, we've been here eighteen months," Freya said, frustrated.

"But you couldn't have been. If you'd been here that long, you would have gotten Bad Wolf back," the Doctor said, eyes flashing.

"We couldn't get him back because we couldn't be seen. Time streams could have been crossed," Freya said, frustrated.

Martha came back in the room, checking the answering machine. Her sister, Freya guessed, had left a message that Martha cut off halfway through. The Doctor was watching the interviews of people claiming how they were voting Saxon.

"He's a former minister of Defense. First came to prominence when he shot down the Racnoss on Christmas Eve. Nice work, by the way," Jack said.

"Oh, thanks," the Doctor said slowly.

"It was just as terrifying the second time around. Ianto drug us to London for the holiday to keep us from being stuck here, and I couldn't tell him what would happen. Our hotel almost got blown up," Freya complained.

"What I don't understand is how he goes way back. He's been here years. He's famous. Everyone knows his story. Look. Cambridge University, rugby blue. Won the Athletics thing. Wrote a novel, went into business, marriage, a child, everything. He's got a whole life," Martha pointed out.

"That child is our son," Freya said angrily.

"Our son who has been being corrupted for the last eighteen months," the Doctor shot back.

"What was I to do? I had to choose, Doctor. My daughter needed me out of there. The Master had spotted me. It was either I run with my daughter or become a prisoner like my son," Freya pointed out.

"Mom has a point. The Master could easily corrupt a baby. He'd think twice about killing a baby Time Lord. Me, though? I'm not Time Lord, and I'm too old to be easily corrupted. He'd have killed me and prolly baby me as well before using Mom to have his own babies," Lil' Red scoffed.

"He wouldn't," the Doctor said automatically.

"Yeah, he would," Lil' Red argued.

"Honey, calm down. Everything's fine. Why don't you call your Uncle James?" Freya asked the girl soothingly. Lil' Red stomped to the other room with an exasperated sigh before doing as she was told.

"Teenagers," Jack said with a chuckle.

"We have more important things to worry about right now!" Martha protested angrily, glaring in between Freya and Jack. Freya shot her a glare right back.

"There is nothing more important than my family. I…" Freya drifted off, eyes going wide.

"What?" the Doctor asked her sharply.

"Why did we only land here? He has the whole past created. Why didn't he just go back and create it?" Freya asked.

"When he was stealing the TARDIS, the only thing I could do was fuse the coordinates. I locked them permanently. He can only travel between the year one hundred trillion and the last place the TARDIS landed. Which is right here, right now," the Doctor said.

"With leeway," Freya pointed out.

"Eighteen months was the most leeway. How has he managed all this though? Freya, you've been around. You must've noticed," the Doctor asked her.

"I was gonna vote for him," Martha said.

"Really?" The Doctor asked in alarm.

"Well, it was before I even met you. And I liked him," Martha argued.

"Me too," Jack agreed. The Doctor turned to Freya, but she shook her head.

"I didn't know anything of him. I wasn't really in the best condition to keep up with current events. But I don't like him now. Whatever he's doing, right now, isn't working on me," Freya said, pressing her hand against her stomach.

"What was his policy? What did he stand for?" the Doctor wanted to know.

"I don't know. He always sounded good," Martha said, tapping her fingers against her thigh as she did.

"Like you could trust him. Just nice. He spoke about….I can't really remember, but it was good. Just the sound of his voice," Martha said, her voice almost in a trance. Freya had noticed that behavior before.

"What's that?" the Doctor asked in alarm.

"What?" Martha asked, confused.

"That. That tapping, that rhythm. What are you doing?" the Doctor asked her.

"Everyone does that. They do it when they think of him. He never had a policy. No policy, nothing. He just appeared, and everyone liked him," Freya said.

The laptop made some noise and the Doctor shut it quickly, tucking it into Freya's bag before turning on the TV. The Master was on the telly, staring back at them.

"Our lord and master is speaking to his kingdom," the Doctor said with a glare.

"Britain, Britain, Britain," the Master said slowly.

"What extraordinary times we've had. Just a few years ago, this world was so small. And then they came, out of the unknown, falling from the skies. You've seen it happen. Big Ben destroyed. A spaceship over London. All those ghosts and metal men. The Christmas star that came to kill. Time and time again, and the government told you nothing. Well, not me. Not Harold Saxon. Because my purpose here today is to tell you this. Citizens of Great Britain, I have been contacted. A message for humanity, from beyond the stars," the Master said as the screen flashed to an image of a sphere.

"People of the Earth, we come in peace. We bring great gifts. We bring technology and wisdom and protection. And all we ask in return is your friendship," said a voice coming from the sphere. The image flashed back to the Master.

"Oo, sweet. And this species has identified itself. They are called the Toclafane," the Master said.

"What?" the Doctor asked in disbelief.

"And tomorrow morning, they will appear. Not in secret, but to all of you. Diplomatic relations with a new species will begin. Tomorrow, we take our place in the universe. Every man, woman and child. Every teacher and chemist and lorry driver and farmer. And, oh, I don't know, every medical student?" the Master asked with a smirk. Freya turned to stare at Martha in horror, as had the Doctor and Jack. The Doctor surged for the TV, spinning it around to see what Freya thought looked a lot like a bomb.

"Out!" the Doctor shouted, grabbing Freya's arm and pulling her towards the door.

"Lil' Red! Get out! Bomb!" Freya shouted as the Doctor tugged her towards the door. Lil' Red ran out after them. The group of them only made it to the street when the apartment blew up.

"All right?" the Doctor asked Freya. Freya nodded shakily, staring up at the apartment. Lil' Red nodded as well.

"Fine, yeah, fine," Jack added.

"Martha? What are you doing?" the Doctor asked, turning to face Martha. Martha had her phone out.

"He knows about me. What about my family?" Martha asked.

"Don't tell them anything," the Doctor warned her.

"I'll do what I like. Mum? Oh my God," Martha said. Her words echoed to Freya. Freya struggled for a moment, pulling out her own cell.

"Not you too," the Doctor argued.

"We need to be getting out of here," Jack agreed. Freya dialed and listened carefully.

"Hello?" James asked. Freya turned to Lil' Red.

"Go to Uncle James. Get him out, get him to safety. Then get Donna. Please. Get them and then Marie and Masen's family," Freya ordered her daughter. Lil' Red stared at Freya.

"I can't just leave you guys," Lil' Red said.

"That's an order. We need to keep you safe. And them. I'm trusting you to protect them. You alone can do that. Not because I'm sending you away. I'm sending you on a mission," Freya said. Lil' Red's bottom lip quivered and she threw her arms around Freya, then then Doctor, then Jack before pressing buttons on her Vortex Manipulator and disappearing.

"Why did you make her leave?" Jack asked.

"Because. She needs to be safe. She'll be safer that way, and she's doing something important enough that she'll stay under the radar," Freya said.

"Freya? What's going on?" James asked.

"Lil' Red's coming for you. Go with her. Help her. Everything's going to hell and you guys need to be safe. Please," Freya begged.

"What about you? Are you safe?" James challenged.

"I'll be fine if you guys are fine. Bye," Freya said before hanging up.

"We've got to help them!" Martha announced to the Doctor.

"That's exactly what they want. It's a trap!" the Doctor told her as Martha made her way to a car, hopping in.

"I don't care," Martha said. Jack and Freya exchanged a look before climbing in the backseat. Freya wasn't about to argue – after all, she'd just sent her daughter out to do virtually the same thing. Martha took off, driving extremely fast.

"Corner!" the Doctor shouted as she flew around a curb. As soon as she'd integrated into traffic, she pulled out her cell phone and started calling her sister.

"What's happening? Tish! It's your fault! It's all your fault!" she shouted at the Doctor. She rolled into a neighborhood. Martha slammed on the breaks as she saw her mother and father being dragged into a van. A group of men pulled out guns.

"Martha, reverse," the Doctor ordered. Martha continued to stare in disbelief at her mother and father.

"Get out, now!" the Doctor shouted angrily as Martha threw the car into reverse, peeling out of the area. The back window shattered, spraying both Freya and Jack with a shower of glass.

"Careful!" the Doctor shouted once more at her driving. Jack leaned forward.

"Martha, listen to me. Do as I say. We've got to ditch this car. Pull over. Right now!" Jack ordered. Martha pulled over and parked the car under an underpass as everyone bailed out. Martha was walking a ways behind them. Freya felt nauseous and she hoped she wouldn't have to stop and throw up – not at the moment, anyway.

She didn't make it.

She stumbled over to the side and started heaving. Hands held her hair, whispering soothing words to her. When she'd managed to right herself, Jack gave her a smile. The Doctor had Martha's phone and was walking away from them, talking seriously into the phone.

Freya followed the Doctor slowly, Jack still carefully at her side. Martha was right behind him, clearly not in the mood to wait to be invited. The Doctor was stopped in front of a shop, staring at the tellies.

Freya's heart stuttered.

Their images were flashing across the screens.

The Doctor slammed the phone shut and ran over to them.

"We've got to go. Now. He has control of everything," the Doctor said.

"What do we do?" Martha asked in disbelief.

"We have nowhere to go," Jack added.

"No more allies," Freya supplied, feeling the desperateness of the situation sinking in.

"Doctor, what do we do?" Martha repeated anxiously.

"We run," the Doctor said simply, slipping his hand into Freya's before taking off running down the street.

They ran for ages until Freya felt like she couldn't run any more. She was too pregnant to be running so much.

She was always too pregnant to be running as much as the Doctor.

They finally came to a warehouse. Jack was the one who pointed it out. He had noticed Freya's slowing speed and had directed them towards it. It hadn't taken long for them to make the place at least suitable to hide out in.

Freya curled up as Jack set up the laptop, messing around on it. The Doctor was pacing, and Martha just looked angry. Baby Lil' Red kicked, making Freya shift her position.

"You okay?" the Doctor asked, sinking to the ground next to her.

"Yeah. She kicked," Freya said with a small smile. The Doctor tentatively held his hand out, as if waiting to be told no. Freya grabbed his hand and pressed it to her stomach. Lil' Red kicked once more.

"How far along are you now?" the Doctor asked quietly.

"About twenty months, we were guessing," Freya said.

"I thought the pregnancies would get quicker," the Doctor muttered.

"The last one took three years. Maybe this time it'll be shorter?" Freya asked carefully. The Doctor could only shrug.

"I wish I'd been here with you. It never works out for us, does it?" the Doctor asked her sadly.

"It will. You know it will. Everyone has problems," Freya pointed out, managing to sit up. She winced as she did.

"You were on the TARDIS for most of the last pregnancy. Could that have affected it?" Martha spoke up as she entered the place, a bag of food in her arms. Freya frowned.

"You're right. I've never been away from the TARDIS for this long before. I hadn't thought of that," Freya said, giving Martha a weak smile. Martha returned it.

"Anyone see you?" Jack asked, staring at her.

"Don't think so. Anything new?" Martha asked. Jack glanced up from what he was working on.

"I've got this tuned to government wavelengths so we can follow what Saxon's doing," Jack said. Martha frowned at him.

"Yeah, I meant about my family," Martha said. Freya offered her a sympathetic look.

"It still says the Jones family taken in for questioning. Tell you what, though. No mention of Leo," the Doctor said with a grin.

"He's not as daft as he looks," Martha pointed out. Freya's eyes slid shut at her words, dazing out a bit.

She was only slightly aware of the Doctor telling them about the Master, but her mind wasn't truly focused on it. She wanted sleep.

12356890875321234678987542124578987531`13468

When she woke up, the Doctor had four TARDIS keys in front of him, some sort of tiny box on the front of them.

"Come on, we're gonna go see what the Master's up to," the Doctor said with a grim smile. He slid the TARDIS key around her neck as he put one on himself.

The four of them made their way quickly out of the warehouse and down the road. They'd been walking awhile when the Doctor slowed.

"Don't run, don't shout. Just keep your voice down. Draw attention to yourself and the spell is broken. Just keep to the shadows," the Doctor warned them.

"Like ghosts," Jack said with a reminiscent smile. Freya smiled at him as well. She'd heard all of Ianto's tales, from the ghosts of memories they'd witnessed to the Time distortion that threw them into 1944.

"Yeah. That's what we are. Ghosts," the Doctor agreed.

They weren't close enough to hear what was going on, but it didn't take much effort to see things were not going happily. The Master was acting rather goofy, and the American President (who Freya was surprised to see) was extremely unhappy with his actions. After a few moments, the President stalked away.

As he did, the Master turned, staring directly at them.

"Can he see us?" Freya whispered, gripping the Doctor's arm tightly.

"No. He senses something's off though," the Doctor whispered back.

A police van pulled up next to them and the back doors opened.

And Martha's family was pulled out.

"Oh my God," Martha breathed in horror. Freya didn't say anything.

Because after they pulled out Martha's family, they pulled out two people Freya knew.

James and Ianto.

"Ianto," Jack choked in horror.

"Don't move," the Doctor told them harshly. He didn't have enough arms to hold them into place.

"But…" Martha tried.

"Don't," the Doctor told her. The police that were holding Martha's family, Ianto, and James shoved them into a separate vehicle and took off.

"What if I use this perception filter to walk up behind him and break his kneck?" Jack asked angrily.

"Now that sounds like the Torchwood I remember," the Doctor said angrily.

"Still a good plan," Jack pointed out.

"How did they get James? Lil' Red was going to him first," Freya said, feeling the horror settle over her.

"She would have gotten out if she knew she couldn't make it," the Doctor told her.

"No. She wouldn't have. She's your daughter. She would stay til she managed it," Freya said.

"She's right," Jack said grimly.

"But he doesn't have her. If he had her, he would be flaunting her," the Doctor pointed out.

"Where are they going?" Martha asked.

"He mentioned Aircraft carrier Valiant," Jack said.

"I couldn't hear anything," Freya complained.

"51st century hearing is much more improved. Anyway, it's a UNIT ship at fifty-eight point two north, ten point oh two east," Jack read off, programming it into the Vortex Manipulator.

"How do we get on board?" Martha asked.

"With this baby," Jack said with a grin as he grabbed their hands. Once all of their hands were on it, he pushed the button.

1234578909754212346790-98653212345678

They landed with a thud.

"That thing is rough," Martha moaned.

"I miss Lil' Red and her smooth landings," Freya added in agreement.

"I've had worse nights. Welcome to the Valiant," Jack said with a shrug. Martha was at the window in a heartbeat.

"It's dawn? Hold on, I thought this was a ship. Where's the sea?" Martha asked. Freya had to agree, she was confused as well. She didn't see a sea. All she saw were….clouds. Lots of clouds.

"A ship for the twenty-first century, protecting the skies of planet Earth," Jack explained.

They started moving quickly through the interior, heading towards what Freya assumed was the main room.

Then the Doctor stopped.

"Come on. We don't have time for sightseeing!" Jack protested.

"No, wait. Shush, shush, shush. Can't you hear it?" the Doctor asked in alarm.

"Hear what?" Jack asked. Freya could feel something, a tugging of sorts.

"Doctor' my family's on board," Martha complained.

"So's mine," the Doctor said, listening again.

"Brilliant! This way," he said, taking off running. They followed him into a storage-like area, where the TARDIS was sitting there. Freya breathed out a sigh of relief at the sight of it.

"Oh, yes!" Martha said excitedly.

"What's it doing on the Valiant?" Jack asked suspiciously as the Doctor unlocked the door and rushed inside.

Only to be greeted by a mutilated TARDIS. It was physically painful to look at.

"What the hell's he done?" Jack asked in horror.

"Don't touch it," the Doctor warned, grabbing Freya's hand as she reached for the damaged console.

"What's he done though? Sounds like it's sick," Martha said.

"She is sick," Freya said in disbelief, an intense sadness filling her. She didn't feel good. God, it made her feel absolutely horrible.

"It can't be. No no, no, no, no! It can't be," the Doctor repeated.

"What is it?" Jack asked.

"He's cannibalized the TARDIS," the Doctor said.

"Is that what I think it is?" Jack asked, his expression grim.

"It's a paradox machine," the Doctor said. He moved closer, examining a gauge on the metal mesh around the time console.

"As soon as this thing hits red, it activates. At this speed, it'll trigger at two minutes past eight," the Doctor said.

"First contact is at eight, then two minutes later," Jack said slowly.

"What's it for? What does a paradox machine do?" Martha wanted to know.

"More important, can you stop it?" Jack begged.

"Not til I know what it's doing. Touch the wrong bit, blow up the solar system," the Doctor said.

"Then we've got to get to the Master," Martha said.

"Yeah. How are we going to stop him?" Jack wanted to know.

"Oh, I've got a way. Sorry, didn't I mention it?" the Doctor asked, plastering a smile to his face.

They left the TARDIS, but as they started walking, Freya heard a cry. A familiar cry. She stopped.

"You guys go. Stop him. That's Bad Wolf," Freya said. The Doctor froze.

"You can't go alone," he said.

"I will. You guys need to stop him. I need to save my son," Freya said. The Doctor nodded slowly and they took off. Freya slunk along the hallway, following the sound of her son crying.

She stopped outside of the open door, staring in.

He was a toddler now. There was no denying it. The baby she'd had before was gone. When he saw her, he stopped crying, merely stared at her. Freya moved into the room, noting that it was empty.

"Hey there," she breathed. He tilted his head, staring at her.

"I'm your mum. Do you remember me?" Freya asked as she scooped him up. For a moment, he squirmed against her. Freya pressed her forehead against him, opening her mind to him as she recalled holding him as a baby. His struggling stopped.

"Mum?" he said quietly. Freya opened her eyes and smiled at him.

"Yeah. I'm your Mum. And I'm here to save you," she said.

"Mean people," Bad Wolf said. Freya nodded.

"Yes. They're bad people. We're getting out of here. Have you seen someone who looks like this?" Freya asked, mentally calling up images of Ianto, James, and Martha's family. Bad Wolf nodded, focusing on the image of Ianto. Freya focused on where he was thinking of.

"Right we're gonna go get him then join your father," Freya told him. She shifted the toddler in her arms before making her way out of the room. She took the twists and turns, hoping that Bad Wolf's memory was good enough that he was able to prove this to be the right way.

Sure enough, she stumbled into a room where Ianto, James, and Martha's father were all locked up. She shifted Bad Wolf, pulling out her sonic screwdriver. It didn't take much effort to unlock the cell and hide the screwdriver once more.

"Freya!" Ianto exclaimed.

"What are you doing here?" James asked.

"Who are you?" Martha's father wanted to know.

"No time. I'm a friend of Martha's. We've gotta get back to the Doctor," Martha said.

"My wife and daughter," Martha's father said.

"Do you know where they are?" Freya asked.

"I think he was going to have them there. At whatever is going on," her father said. Freya nodded.

"Then come on," she said. She led the lot of them down the corridors, just as screaming began. Freya gripped Bad Wolf to her chest.

"We've gotta get you out of here," Ianto said worriedly.

"We need to find the Doctor," Freya disagreed. Ianto moved in front of her, taking her spot as the lead as James kept himself firmly at her side.

"Freeze!" a voice shouted. Both Ianto and James curled around Freya and the baby.

Guards seized them, dragging them towards the music and into a room where a few bodies were sprawled on the ground as the Master stared out his window. Freya glanced around the room frantically, catching sight of Martha talking to an older man.

And then she vanished with Jack's vortex manipulator.

"Freya?" the old man whispered. Freya's eyes widened.

"Doctor?" she asked.

The Master turned around, grinning manically at her.

"So, you're the woman who can have Time Lords. How very fascinating," he said with a grin. Freya's grip on Bad Wolf was probably going to leave bruises on the poor child.

"I've got a lot of experiments I plan on running on you."

I will warn you, there was a portion where it may not blend as well since I wrote the first ten pages or so of this four months ago and haven't had the chance to write anything more until today. I forced myself to take the time and at least give you this. Let me know what you think. I'll try to make the wait shorter next time, but I can't make any promises.

Thanks for reading!
