Our couple finally comes face to face. I don't own VD. I have included a recap for those of you that don't remember everything from the last 11 chapters (I don't expect you to, hehe) being it's been a long time since I've last updated. If you don't need it, feel free to skip to the update. The recaps are for your benefit.

Chapter 1-11 recaps

Caroline thought she had the perfect life until her boyfriend Tyler decided revenge on Klaus was more important than her. Klaus made the ultimate sacrifice for her graduation by ending the war against Tyler so he could be with Caroline. Klaus never admitted it, but he always had feelings for Caroline. Klaus never even admitted it to himself. He was impressed by her free spirit. Caroline was determined to go to parties to meet new people. Despite hanging out w/ Elena, it's obvious Klaus is on her mind. Klaus angrily drinks scotch & throws it against the wall w/ Rebekah looking on. Rebekah calls out her brother on his feelings for Caroline & that maybe it was time they spoke. Rebekah calls Klaus out on whose face he truly sees when he bedded women in the past. Tyler makes a secret call to Caroline, hence the 'blocked number'. Tyler claims Caroline may be in danger & stated he thinks he's being followed by someone who works for Klaus. Tyler reasons it may be b/c Klaus still has feelings for Caroline & he wants Tyler out of the way to accomplish it. Caroline gets defensive, saying Klaus wants nothing to do with her as he ended the war so they could be together but Tyler still chose revenge. Caroline understood Tyler's anger but in the end Tyler needed to grow up. Tyler knows he's in the wrong but still loves Caroline & still feels Klaus needs to pay. Caroline points out it's Tyler keeping him away from her & warns him to not call her again, hanging up on him. Caroline angrily leaves the party, leaving Elena to angrily wonder what Tyler said & vows revenge if he hurt her. Rebekah summoned Elijah to New Orleans to discuss Klaus.

Caroline tearfully cries in her pillow. She tried to fight Tyler's hold over her. She also wished she knew that if Klaus felt something for her, why he didn't fight for her. She was confused at Tyler's claim that she may be in danger. Elena comforts a devastated Caroline. Caroline was mad that Tyler called her just to say he thought Klaus was gunning for him. Elena & Caroline both wondered if there was anything to Tyler's claim that Klaus wanted to hurt him & using Caroling to do that. Elena then wonders if Klaus ended the war so Tyler could be w/ Caroline as he thought that's what she wanted as it was his way of letting her be happy. Caroline remembered Klaus' last words 'he's your first love; I intend to be your last'. Elijah downplays Rebekah's concerns over Klaus until she says the name Caroline Forbes. Elijah's face goes from amusement to shock. Elijah now understands the seriousness of the situation. Rebekah senses Elijah's dislike about Lockwood & wonders why. She gets him to admit that Tyler tried to kill him which surprises her. Elijah is adamant on Klaus not knowing but Rebekah feels he has a right to know. Elijah reminds her of the truce, but she doesn't care. Rebekah feels Klaus has a right to know. Klaus interrupts wondering what he has a right to know. Elena asks Caroline if she has feelings for Klaus.

Caroline smirks without coming right out and answering Elena's question. She finally admits she cares for Klaus, but not sure if she loves him. Elena can tell it goes farther than that. Klaus gets Elijah to admit Tyler had a talk with him. Klaus/Elijah/Rebekah wonders if Tyler is up to something. Rebekah gets Klaus to admit he has feelings for Caroline. Klaus sighs in defeat that he gave up pursuing Caroline as she still loved Tyler, but Tyler wasted his chance by seeking his continued revenge against Klaus. Both Rebekah/Klaus think Tyler is dumb for doing that. Rebekah points out that being Tyler is still gone, Klaus still has a chance with Caroline. Klaus makes the decision to go speak to Caroline in Mystic Falls on Friday as he's going to surprise her. Caroline asks Elena to accompany her to New Orleans on Saturday so she can finally speak to Klaus about everything. Caroline has a romantic fantasy about Klaus and wonders out loud why it wasn't real. Elena teases her friend on it. Klaus has a sexual fantasy about Caroline. In the dream she tells the truth, that he misses her & wants to be with her. Caroline is afraid to tell Klaus her true feelings as he'll reject her. Elena tries to reassure her friend that Klaus does love her. Caroline hopes to never see Tyler again and says she's a Klaus fan, as is Elena.

Title: A Thousand Years

Summary: After going thru a bad breakup with Tyler, Caroline vows to stay away from relationships. But will that change when Klaus comes back & admits he's in love with her & wants her back? He's always said he'd never change who he is for anyone. But will he finally decide to change for her? Will she choose him or the ex who comes back to town to claim her again?

Chapter 12

(Caroline and Elena are finally done with school for the weekend. They were both greatly relieved as now they could have some fun. They enter their dorm room and Elena couldn't help but notice her friends' nervous state)

Elena: "You're thinking about tomorrow, aren't you?"

Caroline: (weird look) "No."

Elena: "Liar."

(Caroline paces around the room as she attempts to clear her head)

Caroline: "You'd think that after being around him back then, I'd know or be able to read his thoughts. Then again, I haven't seen him in months."

(Caroline tilts her head and raises her hand to her chin as she thinks out loud)

Caroline: "I wonder if his appearance has changed at all? Does he still have that same sexy grin he always has when he knows he's getting to me?" (briefly raises her head) "Ugh! I don't know why I'm having such thoughts! It's not like I know how he feels. It's not like I know that he'd choose me in the end."

Elena: "You mean the way Tyler did? He sure as hell didn't choose you. Granted, I wasn't a big Klaus fan before. But it was clear his feelings for you were genuine. He did want you. I know that it didn't always look like Klaus would tell you how he feels because things always got in the way. Tyler is an ass who lost out on a big opportunity to be with you...many times. I might add." (sighs) "I honestly don't know if I consider him a friend anymore."

Caroline: (folds her arms) "He has his own life. Right now, I don't care."

(Caroline clears her throat and changes the subject)

Caroline: "What do you want to do tonight?"

Elena: (shrugs) "We can order takeout and bring it here to eat while watching a movie, if you want."

Caroline: (nods) "Sounds like a plan. Are you packed for tomorrow?"

Elena: "Yep. You?"

Caroline: (chuckles) "Of course. You already knew that, though, didn't you?"

Elena: (smirks) "You were packed since last night. I saw the bag under your bed."

Caroline: (rolls her eyes) "Are you done teasing?"

Elena: (smiles) "Not by a long shot, Forbes."

***New Orleans***

(Klaus is in his bedroom looking at a photo of him and Caroline. It was a rare time when she agreed to pose with him in the picture. She smiled for the camera. Her blond hair lying flawlessly against her shoulders. Only the top part of her was shown. She had a blue satin shirt on that was a V neck so her chest showed. Klaus had a black t-shirt on. She smiled for the camera while Klaus did his usual pose)

(Klaus sighs softly as even on a regular day, Caroline still took his breath away. He wanted so badly to make her his. He loved her more than words could say. He lived far away from her. Not far enough to where he couldn't see her when he wanted. He knew if they were to ever be together, he would never risk losing her again. He sighs deeply as he continues to stare at his heart's desire)

Klaus: "Soon, love. Very soon we will meet again."

Elijah: "And maybe she won't be a fool to turn you away."

Rebekah: "For your sake, brother, I hope she doesn't."

(Klaus shakes his head in annoyance as he faces the pair, who walks towards him)

Klaus: "I take it that you both have nothing better to do than eavesdrop on my private thoughts?"

Elijah: "It's not like you've never done the same before, dear brother."

Rebekah: "Your life is messed up. I'm just here to help. When you finally do see Caroline, I'm sure it'll work out." (smiles) "I have faith."

Klaus: (odd look) "How could you possibly know what might happen?"

Rebekah: (shrugs) "I've seen you two in the past. I choose to believe that true love will win in the end."

Klaus: "I guess we'll find out soon enough, won't we?"

(Against Klaus' better judgment, he let Elijah come along for the ride. Klaus didn't know why Elijah wanted to come even though the elder brother insisted it was as 'emotional support'. In all fairness, though, Klaus was glad it was Elijah and not Rebekah who came. He loved his sister, but she voiced her opinions far too often. Klaus didn't always like that or appreciated it. On the car ride to Mystic Falls, the two brothers often engaged in conversation)

Elijah: "Do you know what you're going to say to her when you two come face to face?"

Klaus: (sighs) "Yes and no. I know what I want to say, it's just a matter of if I can get the words out."

Elijah: (encouragingly) "Just speak from your heart and let the words come out naturally."

Klaus: (raises his eyebrows) "If I don't choke in the end." (clears his throat) "It's been awhile since I have seen her."

Elijah: (chuckles) "Try not to fall to your knees in front of her when you see her. She might think you're crazy."

Klaus: (smirks) "More than I already am?"

Elijah: (laughs) "Aren't we all?"

(Despite Klaus' brave front, Elijah knew his brother was nervous on seeing Caroline again. He hoped for his brother's sake that the long overdue meeting went well with the blonde. Even though Elijah did have some reservations on the possible couple, he wanted his brother to be happy. If Caroline Forbes did that, Elijah would give Klaus his blessing)

***Mystic Falls***

(After arriving at their destination, Klaus parks the car in the visitor parking lot. Klaus didn't have a clue on where Caroline was staying at, so he asked around. Thankfully, a few college students were helpful. Klaus and Elijah walk inside the college and make their way to the third floor on the East side. After finding her room number, he prepares to knock. He faces Elijah)

Klaus: "Here goes nothing, eh, brother?"

Elijah: "She will be surprised at first. In the end, I think she will be glad you are here."

(They could hear laughter inside, so they knew Caroline and Elena had to be in there. Klaus clears his throat before knocking hard on the outside door. He wasn't sure if he needed to knock a second time. When he heard the laughter stop, he knew he was heard. A pair of footsteps comes to the door and opens it, revealing Elena. Her eyes widen and mouth opens big, as if she's seen a ghost)

Elena: (stutters) "K-Klaus?"

Klaus: (smiles politely) "Hello, Elena."

Elena: "What are you doing here?"

Klaus: "I thought enough time has passed. It's time Caroline and I talked. Is she here?"

Elena: (nods) "Yes, she is. I'll get her."

(Elena notices Elijah and offers a polite, yet nervous smile)

Elena: "Elijah."

Elijah: (smiles) "Hello, Elena. No time no see."

Caroline: (from the bedroom inside) "Elena, who is it?"

(Before Elena has a chance to respond to Caroline, Caroline starts walking to her friend)

Caroline: "Who's at the door?"

Elena: (turns halfway around to face Caroline) "Are you ready for the shock of your life?"

(When Caroline finally gets to the door, she stops dead in her tracks. She has the same shocked looks across her face as Elena had. She continues to have a loss for words, so Klaus speaks up)

Klaus: (smiles sweetly) "Hello, love. I can see you're a bit surprised to see me here."

(Caroline gathers herself, getting her hair out of her face and clears her throat)

Caroline: "What are you doing here, Klaus?"

Klaus: (nods seriously) "I think it's time that we had a talk...about us."

(Caroline sighs deeply as she can't fight the nerves she feels)

Klaus: "Something tells me that you agree."

Caroline: (nods) "You're right. We do need to clear the air."
