Lucy POV -

Everyone seemed to line up next to Lucy and Natsu. Even Gajeel and Levy stood there, if they'd participate Lucy didn't know, and frankly – she didn't care. Cana had lined shot glasses along the bar counter, Mira had the liquor in her hand so she'd be able to pour it to their glasses during this contest. There were some others that had joined their contest, Lucy didn't mind and Natsu seemed untouched by it as well.

"Are you all ready?" Mira asked and looked at the contestants. Lucy raised her hands and smiled wide.

"Yes!" the contestants answered at the same time.

"Well, the ones that throw up, faint or just can't take it anymore lose, and the ones sticking to the end win. I don't want you to drink too much so I've set an amount of shots you're supposed to drink. For me it wouldn't be an issue, but I can see that some of you already have had a lot to drink." Cana said and placed her hands on the counter. "Am I making myself clear?" she said and looked out at everyone. Lucy nodded and smiled wide, she knew she could handle her drinking. She wouldn't drink so much that she'd faint or throw up, she knew to stop before that happened. She hoped Natsu would lose, he'd probably not be able to tell her what she wanted to know, but she'd have something on him so she could make him talk. Plotting her plans she missed the first shot. Levy pushed her closer to the counter and she heard Natsu laugh at her.

"Game on." Lucy muttered and the contest could start.

The shots were not that strong, Lucy figured that this was the cheaper stuff, that didn't have that much alcohol in them. Her confidence grew and she tossed back one shot after the other. She didn't really care for what they tasted like. She could hear someone next to her moan:

"Fucking hate liquorice."

Lucy glanced up at Natsu and hoped that he would dislike the taste enough to quit while she was ahead. Her eyes met his steady gaze as he stared at her while taking shots. He was doing it way slower than Lucy, but since Cana had set a limit that wouldn't really mean anything. Lucy just wanted it over with and to prove her point. Whatever she had thought of before.

It was beginning to go a lot slower now and the taste really seemed to kill her taste buds. Her tongue felt numb but she pressed on. Cana called out something but she didn't really hear it. By the time Lucy had raised her 6th shot there were only her, Natsu, Bixlow and some other guy she didn't recognize, left. Her head was positively spinning but she didn't feel as if she'd lose, Natsu's eyes were bloodshot and his face had that feral look on it again. It almost made Lucy miss the glass. She fumbled a little and just as she put it to her lips that other guy fell of his chair, Bixlow gave up and left Lucy and Natsu alone to duel.
