Angelus eyed the couple truly intrigued, he never envisioned Kol as an enamored man, let alone did he expect him to visit his home with a girl under his arm and actually be serious about the relationship.

In fact, the only thing that wasn't surprising at all was the fact that Bonnie was so beautiful.

"... there has to be something that we can do."

Bonnie's voice snapped him out of his introspective thoughts. "My dear, if there is something to be done, it will have to wait for the festival to be over."

"Why?" She asked, unpleased.

"Because the spirits are restless, and many doors are open right now. We don't really want to go in blindly, inside of the wrong doors, do we?"

"If there was nothing we could actually do, then why are we here exactly?" Kol asked Bonnie.

She stared at Angelus, asking him the exact same thing, that's not what he told her on the phone.

"Even the Gods need some rest." He went back to enjoying his expensive cigar.

Kol shook his head. "If it's so risky that we get the wrong crowd from the other side upset, then what am I doing here?" He insisted.

"You don't have to get all upset. I didn't know about this." She told him in a low voice.

"What are we doing in Brazil that is so different from the useless routine that we've mastered so far, back home?" He turned his foul mood to Angelus. "Why did you tell us to come here in the first place?"

"The family is reuniting." He peacefully answered, before looking at the gates.

Kol and Bonnie looked in the direction that he was facing.

Bonnie seemed to jolt back to life as she saw Caroline smiling at her. "Care..."

There was a small gasp before she ran to her friend.

Caroline hugged Bonnie as soon as she was close to her. "Oh Bon... I've missed you so much."

"Me too... but just... don't hug me so tight." Bonnie asked.

"Oh, sorry!" Caroline laughed and hauled her friend a little away from her so that she could inspect every detail about her. "Have you been cheating on food? You look awful."

"It's nice to see you again, Care." Bonnie cocked her eyebrow.

Caroline laughed at ease and pulled her friend close to her again, hugging her tightly but remembering this time that she was a vampire while her friend wasn't.

She looked at Kol from over Bonnie's shoulder and squinted at him. "You were supposed to look after her, and that included making sure that she was eating."

Kol faked a smile for her. "You can't make Bonnie do a thing against her moody will."

There was a loud grumble from Bonnie, while Caroline closed her eyes enjoying the feel of having her friend close again.

Kol guided his eyes to Klaus, and the two brothers shared a serious unspoken conversation until Kol decided to sprinkle the other with his pissy mood as well.

"Next time you come up with a nutty plan that includes killing yourself, I'd like to be included so that I can kill you myself."

"I see that you have missed me." Klaus replied amused.

Kol kept a witty comeback to himself, but he was twitching with an anger that was bound to come forward.

Klaus closed the gap between them with a step, he placed a hand on Kol's shoulder and squeezed it hard. "I had to be deceitful."

"I'm surprised that Caroline accepted you back." He dismissed the affection with another fake smile.

Klaus lowered his eyes but smiled warmly. "I did it to protect you and Rebekah."

"I'm not remotely interested in your reasons, Nik." Kol walked away unfazed.

Klaus decided to let him go, and he looked away from Kol to Angelus, shaking hands with the broad man as he neared him.

"Welcome back to my humble home, Klaus." Angelus said respectfully.

The two of them wandered off for a small walk but Klaus wasn't one of wasting too much time with formalities, so he went straight to the point.

"Rebekah told me about the insurgent mission, is there really a way to bring my brother Elijah back?"

Angelus placed his hands behind his back with a somber sigh. "My dearest friend doesn't want to come back to us, Klaus."

Klaus nodded grimly. "I figured that much, deceiving my mother was his final deed for this family"

Angelus moved his head solemnly. "Yes."

"Then why are we all here?" Klaus still knew that something was on the makings.

Angelus wavered, if there was a creature that he feared, both from this realm and the other, it was Klaus.

"It came to my knowledge that you were in the country and so happened that Bonnie wanted to meet." He smiled. "I think that she was hopeful that her beauty would move me to sway in her favor."

"What are you trying not to tell me?" Klaus was concise with his heavy tone.

"Someone has been watching you and your wife. Ever since you left Rome."

"Who?"

Angelus sighed and took another step, moving them further away from the commotion that the girls were making, and away from the piercing stares of both Damon and Kol.

"Someone seems very interested in what you are able to do, Klaus."

"Someone has a name?"

"There is a... group that has been making waves, and they have been asking a lot of questions about you and your abilities. They came to see me last week and from what I understood they are very curious about your family as well."

Klaus looked down on the ground, not really welcoming the new fans.

"You and your brother forged an unprecedented plan that consisted of joining forces between the world of the dead and the world of the living. Rebekah has been turned human and from what I know it was a result of a spell to resurrect Caroline. And don't get me started on Bonnie and the number of spells that she has been doing for your family… She even broke each and every bloodline linking the Originals to every vampire ever turned. Did you genuinely believe that all of this wouldn't draw a lot of attention?"

Klaus slowly looked at Caroline who instinctually met his eyes at once.

"Wow, married life is really doing wonders for you." Bonnie stepped back. "There's all this glow happening right now." She circled her hands in front of Caroline.

Caroline rolled her eyes laughing.

"No, I'm serious..." Bonnie said looking attentively at Caroline, there was something different about her friend, it wasn't even the classy look although it was a little different from what she grew used to seeing Caroline wearing.

Caroline was wearing a short royal blue dress, and the preppy color was a difference from the usual bubbly appearance but there was something else that Bonnie couldn't quite tell what it was.

"You're being silly, that's what it is." Caroline ended the conversation and looked at Klaus again. "I'll be right back." She smiled at the girls before leaving to join his side.

"She looks fancy and dapper." Rebekah commented next to Bonnie.

"Yeah... she's married now. From all of us, I always thought that she would be the last one to do it and, in the end, she beat us all to it."

"Bonnie..." Rebekah's voice was low and cautious.

"What is it?" Bonnie looked at her nervously.

"Damon and I kissed." Rebekah took advantage of the fact that the boys were inside of the house.

Bonnie dropped her head back. "Finally!" She lifted her hands, adding to the relieved sigh.

"He's a prick but I like him." Rebekah shrugged.

"He's not so bad... I've been around Damon long enough to know that he just has the tendency to make really bad life choices." Bonnie smiled at the other.

"I have no idea where this is leading but when he was kissing me... that was the first time I didn't think about Matt."

"Maybe Damon is just what you need right now. Serious or not, he makes you forget about all that pain."

Rebekah smiled because it was actually good to not feel miserable all the time.

The large Brazilian man warmly opened his arms at the approaching woman. "And what a beautiful wife you have, Klaus."

Caroline smiled, taking Klaus's hand as he immediately reached out to her.

"I know, she's magnificent." Klaus said with his eyes on her.

She smiled at him before she faced Angelus, taking in his big features, he was visibly hiding a lot of things behind that warm loud laughter of his, it was just odd to Caroline that this was one of Elijah's closest friends.

"What's wrong?" She asked Klaus, once she was done analyzing the owner of the house.

"Nothing to really worry about, beautiful Caroline." Angelus quickly said, wanting to send her away politely.

"I do not have secrets with Caroline." Klaus simply warned him.

"It wasn't my intention to assume that you did..." Angelus quietly apologized.

"Apparently, what we have done in Mystic Falls, regarding the supernatural, has claimed attention."

"Who were those guys earlier?" She knew that the strange encounter had to be connected to this conversation.

Klaus looked at Angelus.

Again, the man placed his hands behind his back before answering. "All I know is what my spirits tell me. That they call themselves, Luna."

Caroline frowned. "Moon?" She asked, connecting the wolf in the card to the name.

"I haven't heard of them before." Klaus wasn't happy, it was something that he needed to fix quickly.

"Do you know who they are?" Caroline asked Angelus.

It was an action that left Angelus uncomfortable, it was bad enough to deal with Klaus and his deadly mood swings but now he was forced to adjust and deal with his wife as well.

She was seemingly a powerful creature with a bit of a docile side but that was twice as hard for him to handle, because he didn't have any previous knowledge of her to be certain and he didn't know her enough to make a connection and use it on his behalf.

"I only know that they hide behind this wolf image and that they are very interested in knowing how it's possible for Klaus to shift into a wolf and to actually know what he is doing while in animal form."

"He's an Alpha! He has the power to do whatever he wants." Caroline reminded him.

Angelus smiled to sooth her. "And the first hybrid as it is, but like everything in our world there are a lot of people out there who would love to get their hands on that kind of power."

Caroline's expression was now somber. "The power of being a hybrid?"

Angelus nodded. "There are rumors that a few werewolves were promised the opportunity of being turned into a hybrid, and with that, gaining the ability to shift at will."

Caroline stopped Angelus with her hands in the air. "But they can't. Only Klaus is able to make more hybrids and with Elena dead, not even that."

"I know." Angelus simply nodded and glanced over at Klaus, that didn't even seem affected by any of this.

Caroline also followed Angelus' eye motion.

Klaus merely shrugged at them. "I'm not about to lose sleep over a flock of dimwits who started a cult to worship me."

Caroline gave him a precise look of judgment.

He answered back with a smile. "Although, the girls in cults are usually very friendly."

Caroline gave him one of her best smiles. "Just awesome, Klaus."

He couldn't help the chuckle but looked at Angelus with a request. "Will you give us a moment alone?"

The other man immediately went away.

"I'm not worried about this sweetheart, and you shouldn't be either." He assured her.

She eventually smiled, as he pulled her closer to him, but she was worried that things were going to change again.

"Are you going out?" Katherine asked from the sofa, just as Stefan reached the front door.

"I'm going out to hunt." He answered without much warmth in his voice.

Katherine smiled at him seductively. "I thought that you were over that entire nature vibe, by now."

"I like to run, and it keeps my mind busy."

"What thoughts are you trying to keep very away from your mind?" She asked him slowly.

"I'll be back in one hour." He opened the door.

"Stefan?"

He lowered his head a bit like he was defeated. "What?"

"Be careful." She asked in a sweet voice.

Stefan turned to look at her. "Don't pretend to even care that much, Katherine."

"Don't be mean, Stefan... you know that I only like that in bed."

Stefan crossed his arms. "Do you ever think that we could be anything more than just that?"

She lusciously smiled. "I want you forever. Broody, moody, angry, sweet or just slaying anything that breathes... those abs are just the cherry on top of a very solid delicious cake."

He turned away from her. "I seriously have no idea what I'm doing with you."

"Let's not go there now, because then we would have to answer the real question here..." She teased him.

Stefan played along and looked back at her.

"If you are my humanity, if you bring that out in me... what do I bring out in you?" She pointed out.

With a flash, Stefan was in front of her and grabbed her by the arms. "I thought that you were done playing games."

She moved her finger down his chest and smiled while tracing it. "Why would I ever? When is it so much fun?"

"What could you possibly want more from me? Haven't I given you everything that you wanted?"

She poked his chest just above his heart. "I want that."

"My heart belongs to someone else, and she will always have it." He confessed.

Instead of being upset, Katherine just looked at him intensely. "It's all just the opposite. You died while trying to save me, so I like to think that I have the upper hand over her, and I only have to wait until you finally see that..." She stroked his strong chin. "I love you." She mouthed without a sound.

He let her arms go and in his gloomy ways turned his back on her again.

"Enjoy your hunting." She said in a singing voice.

Klaus came around to the back of the house searching for his siblings when he met Damon, the vampire was coming out of the kitchen where the girls were talking and preparing a big dinner.

"Can I talk to you for a brief awkward moment?" Damon asked.

Klaus eyed him with heavy annoyance. "Why not, Damon?"

Damon pointed to where they could be alone, and Klaus followed him to the patio that had a good view to the street.

Damon pressed the beer that he was holding, closer to his chest. "You need to go back to Mystic Falls." He motioned the tip of the bottle towards the kitchen. "They need you."

Klaus's only response was silence.

Damon parted his hands. "Look, I get it… you finally have the girl of your dreams. You're so happy living on cloud number nine and everything is perfect, and you never want to come down again, but I'm sorry to break the news to you, Klaus. We are vampires and you don't get that luxury. You don't get to live the boring human happily ever after life with no troubles, you don't get to enjoy the everlasting honeymoon, not when you have a sister that is human now and a brother that clearly can't handle his own girlfriend."

Klaus looked down on the ground conflicted, he wanted to hide in this perfect world that he created with Caroline.

"They are a hot mess and Rebekah is miserable without you."

"I know that I'm asking a lot from you, but try to understand, Damon, that whilst I'm gone, they have a chance of something somewhat normal and they won't have my enemies breathing down on their necks all the time because I have gathered quite the number along the centuries, as easily as I have killed without blinking."

"We all have at some point but leaving Kol and Rebekah alone is not remotely smart and it doesn't sound like something that you would do at all."

Klaus was unable to admit that he was simply being selfish and using the chance to be away from everything with Caroline, he should be allowed to be happy and to be at peace for once.

He didn't want to return with Caroline back to Mystic Falls, but annoyingly, the feeling settled inside of him, he couldn't really turn his back on his siblings either.

"I know that you think that you're doing what's best for them but neither of them actually knows how to live without you after 1000 years of sibling quarrel and stabbing, and they just lost Elijah. Rebekah has lost two of her closest brothers in one year and I'm not even including on the list, boring Finn."

Klaus nodded once and he was about to answer Damon when someone caught his attention from the street.

"What now?" Damon followed his line of sight.

"I recognize that fella from before, he approached us on the street with an unusual buoyancy." Klaus remembered the way that he had stared at Caroline.

Damon found it amusing that Klaus instantly walked to the street in a killing mood.

Klaus addressed the man waiting for him with a vicious tone. "Now… I know that you haven't been foolish enough to come spy on me, even after I told you that I wasn't interested in whatever you had to offer."

The man pushed him with a lewd smile. "I was bored back at the hotel, and I kept thinking of that blonde sweetheart of yours."

"Who are we killing today?" Damon asked, just next to Klaus.

The man was cocky enough to think that he could get away with it.

"The name is Bill and I just wanted to see the legend up-close."

"I'm not sure if he means that." Damon said.

Klaus chuckled. "Not at all, Damon. I'm quite famous around all four corners of the world."

Damon gave Bill a look. "Don't you have better things to do? He's really underwhelming, once you get to know him."

Klaus closed the space between him and the man. "Why are you here, mate?"

"They told me to keep an eye on you and that's what I'm doing."

"I suggest that you go back to tell whoever is running this show, to leave me undisturbed."

Bill tossed his cigarette away. "We just want the freedom to shift whenever we want, and you have no right to keep all that power to yourself."

"Do you really want to be a hybrid?" Damon asked with a grimace.

The man glared at him. "Let me guess… vampire?"

"Yes, and it's a very exclusive club. One that you can't be a part of."

Bill rolled his eyes at Damon, before refocusing on Klaus. "I wouldn't antagonize us so much, if I were you..."

"That sounded just like a threat, wouldn't you agree, Damon?"

"And a very weak one." Damon closed in on Bill.

"We might just start being idiots and go on biting the ones close to you, and I'm not sure you have enough blood to heal all of them." Bill smugly smiled at Klaus.

"You should know your enemies better, before going all about closed threats and mindless wars... in the end, I don't care about that many people."

Bill licked his lips slowly. "I bet that you care about that perky little thing… she sure knows how to move those hips of hers and she looks like a great bite, on top of it."

Instantly, Damon pulled himself away from the man. "Bye Bill, it was nice meeting you."

Growling, Klaus dragged the man to an alley, while Damon smiled and flirted with a few girls that were crossing the street. He used his charm and waved at them, to keep them distracted from the muffled screams that came from the alley behind him.

A couple of minutes later, Klaus left the alley nonchalantly.

Damon pointed at his neck. "You missed a little... there." He circled a blood stain.

This wonderful loud and typical music filled the huge terrace where they were all gathered to have dinner, but instead of eating with the others, Angelus was dancing with one of the girls working at his house.

He was enjoying the moment and maybe a bit too eagerly as he mischievously moved his hand down to her ass. Unhappy with his crass motion, she slapped his hand hard and pushed him away, while calling him something dirty in Portuguese.

At the table, Caroline was resting against Klaus's chest in love with the food, the wine, the language and the ways of a country that was vibrant and joyful, not to mention that she was absolutely smitten by the music.

"Ah, women... always so quick to seduce us, only to clip our wings the next minute." Angelus slouched on a chair, near Rebekah and Bonnie.

"Isn't that precisely what makes a woman so interesting and coveted?" Rebekah asked him, while pushing away what was left of her dessert.

"Undeniably so." He picked up a bottle of wine. "But as much as a little mystery is good for the soul, it also drains a man and I'm not getting younger."

"There's no one to warm your feet at night?" Caroline asked him with a smile.

He had a big sip from his glass. "Sadly, I can never tell when I'm being seduced or removed from my wings."

The three women at the table laughed loudly.

"Men just presume to be smarter, so we take pleasure in showing just how wrong you all are. You know nothing when it comes to women, because you know nothing about thinking with the right member." Rebekah explained.

Angelus laughed with a big attire and stood up impressed. "I always admired your immense grace, Rebekah. I now surrender to your intelligence and wit." He offered his hand. "Join me in a dance?"

While they danced to the slow inviting Brazilian song, Bonnie watched them wishfully, but all that Kol was doing was drink, he wasn't even that talkative tonight.

Damon traded his beer for an invitation. "There's too much dancing happening around here, and I'm not taking part in it, therefore, I need someone to dance with." He stood up. "Bonnie, I don't accept a no for an answer."

Unwilling to watch them dance, Kol left the terrace.

Caroline encouraged Klaus with a quick kiss, so he left after his brother, determined to settle things between them.

"If you really want to be crossed with someone, do it properly, Kol." Klaus calmly said as he caught up to him.

Kol stopped and waited for Klaus to come closer, then without notice he turned around and punched Klaus right in the face. He shook his hand with a sting because he had forgotten how hard Klaus's face was.

Klaus licked the blood from the corner of his mouth before moving, Kol expected a full-on hybrid attack, but instead, Klaus pulled his baby brother to him by grabbing the back of his head.

"I'm sorry." Klaus simply said.

Kol was furious but he didn't push for a fight. "You died! And I loathe you for it, because you were never supposed to die. Out of all of us, you were the indestructible one. Nothing or anyone was ever able to take you down, and then you got stabbed and Caroline and I had to watch you die."

"I'm right here, Kol." Klaus said with his hand still cradling the back of Kol's head.

"With everything that father and mother did to you... you fought back, you found a way to fight back the entire world. You've fought your entire life, and we all hated Bekah so much and picked on her, because she was your favorite."

Klaus smiled. "It's not about picking favorites. She was just too straining to fight all the time."

"I know that we've turned your life into a living hell at some point but none of us ever imagined our lives without you. We never saw you as anything different but a true brother to all of us."

Klaus padded Kol's neck affectionately.

"But if you tell anyone that I said that, I will claim that Caroline has finally driven you mad." Kol grinned.

Klaus broke away with a smile and parted palms. "No one has to know."

"I need to make amends with Bonnie." Kol grumbled.

"I'll lead the way." Klaus started walking back to the terrace.

Like a hurt puppy, Kol followed him and interrupted the dancing couple with a smile. "Mind if I cut in?"

Damon stepped away from his playful dance with Bonnie with a nod.

As for Bonnie, she apprehensively smiled at Kol before taking his hand.

"I've been a prick, or a dick, as Damon so nicely expresses all the time." Kol apologized for his behavior.

Bonnie rested against him. "I don't think that any of us have dealt with all of this the right way." She looked up at him a little. "But I love you, and I know that you love me, so we'll survive this."

Kol held her closer, for now, she seemed less determined about her relentless quest to bring Elijah back, so perhaps now he could finally breathe and relax a little.

Swiftly Damon stole Rebekah away from her dancing partner and dipped her with flair.

She laughed with a tiny protest. "That is not how you dance the Samba."

"I like to personalize my moves." He replied with a naughty smile.

"I knew that you would say that." She narrowed her eyes at him.

"Impressed?" He wiggled his eyebrows.

"Are you going to kiss me in front of my brothers?" She asked him with a sassy attitude.

Damon looked at Kol. "Maybe we should give everyone a little more time to adjust to the family reunion and all..."

Rebekah shook her head. "You are a coward, Damon."

"And you are an impatient woman." He pointed out.

"Well, I'd hurry if I were you, Damon. I don't have forever." She reminded him.

Damon's smile faded a little, but he quickly recovered by twirling her around. "Then we shouldn't waste time when we go back home."

Rebekah's face lost the glee as well, but for very different reasons, up until now she hadn't remembered a tiny important detail, she had been with Damon before, but as a vampire and not as a human.

She gulped down, as she looked into his deep blue eyes wondering how it would be to stare into them as they made love this time around.

Caroline wasn't on the terrace, there was a small private entrance to the beach located just behind Angelus's house and she was hiding in that refuge.

Klaus found her staring ahead to the deep blue ocean covered by the moon, she had her arms crossed over her chest and stood there looking at the immensity that was in front of her.

Her feet sank deep into the sand as the waves gently came to shore, threatening to swallow the yellow clear sand.

He wrapped his arms protectively around her and kissed her cheek gently.

"Are we going back?" She quietly asked him.

"Damon tells me that I must." He whispered, looking in the same direction as she was.

Caroline smiled faintly. "Elijah was right, you are the one keeping this family together."

"What are you really thinking?" He softly breathed against her neck.

"That I need you too." She said looking at the sand, warming her feet. "And I'll go wherever you decide to go." She entwined her fingers with his. "Whatever you decide, Niklaus. I trust you."

Klaus took a deep breath while admiring the huge ocean before his eyes. "As much as I wanted to keep traveling the world with you, Caroline..."

She smiled and moved slightly, so that she could face him. "You wouldn't be the man I fell in love with, if you were able to shut down your feelings now. Your family is important to you and it's not fair to keep you away from them."

"How can I ever pay you back for not keeping yet another promise that I've made to you?"

She faced away from him and to the ocean ahead of them, she got lost in the infinity of it all, it was just like her love for him. "Stay here with me for a little longer."

Klaus leaned his face against her cheek and closed his eyes, breathing her in.

"Hold me close to you and never let me go, no matter what happens, when we go back to the place where so many died. Where you died and where I died." She felt that sadness returning to her heart, as reality cruelly swallowed her.

Klaus circled his arms tighter around her. "I promise…"
