Caroline freed her bouncy curls from underneath her jacket, she had one last check on the mirror before going back to the master-bedroom and straight to the vanity where she last saw the keys.
"Ummm…" She tapped the pink structure, noticing the absence.
Near the bed, Klaus chuckled. "Are you looking for something, sweetheart?"
She did a quick search among the cluttered mess of perfumes and colorful makeup. "I'm looking for the car keys… I know that I left them here last night."
"I have them."
Caroline faced him, he was getting dressed and today Klaus chose a buttoned-up shirt that looked really good on him, it sure brightened up her day to see him closing those buttons slowly.
"Why do you have my keys?"
Klaus smiled. "The keys to my car?"
"Yours, mine... all the same…" She pulled her shoulders together cutely.
Calmly, he neared her and when close enough he reached out behind her to pick his phone from the table.
Caroline leaned back with Klaus's body pressing on hers, and his smell tickling all of her senses, his face was inches away from hers and she had a good opportunity to admire his stubble and the lips that she loved to kiss.
"It's my car, and it's the only asset I haven't placed in your name."
"I still get to drive it a lot." She countered playfully.
"It still doesn't make it yours, Caroline." He started to pull away.
Caroline kept him in place by moving her hand to the back of his neck.
Klaus didn't need a word to know what she wanted, and he kissed her. Intensely as she wished.
When he finally pulled away, he smiled at her. "It's still my car and you can't have it today."
Caroline huffed and this time he did pull away completely from her, and he left the room with a satisfied smile. It was always a good day, when he started it by kissing Caroline like that.
He found Elijah downstairs with a drink in his hand and staring into the mantel, he looked terribly broody, so Klaus's smile diminished.
Elijah turned around to face Klaus and pushed forward a small smile. "Good morning."
Klaus smiled, carrying into the smile the joy that he brought from the previous effortless moment with Caroline.
"I can see how much married life has suited you."
"She was sad that you weren't there..." Klaus tackled the harsh past with a smaller smile. "Caroline wanted you to walk her down the aisle."
"That would have left me very flattered and honored. Not only does she love you, but she's also turned you into a better man."
"I love her." Klaus simply said.
Elijah didn't need anything else from him, whenever things were this simple with Klaus it was a sign of how adamantly strong, they were. "So, tell me... what have I missed?"
"Everything." Klaus headed to the bar to look for something to accompany Elijah's drinking.
"I'm sorry that I physically missed that last battle."
"You've been a part of everything in my life, you have always been there. Whether it was in a coffin or out of it, it felt strange not having you there, but it was harder having to deceive Caroline with my death and the days that followed weren't easy to sustain."
"Our family has been through too much already..." Elijah dropped the sentence to have a bit of his drink.
"Is this about Kol and Bonnie?" Klaus instigated him to keep talking.
"Her reason to bring me back will unsettled things between Kol and I, but if I act on it… it will cause a wedge beyond repair."
Klaus rested his hand over Elijah's shoulder. "You will know what to do, you always know what to do."
Elijah smiled. "Even if the woman I love is involved?"
Klaus slightly inclined his head. "I'm not sure that she can choose between you and Kol."
Elijah lowered his look to the floor, knowing that it was up to him to make that choice.
Klaus left the room as they heard Kol arrive, and with the first shock the real tension settled in as soon as Kol had a few steps inside of the house.
"She really did it..." It was instantly crystal clear for Kol who was behind Elijah's comeback.
Elijah rested his glass on top of the mantel to spare his younger brother his undivided attention.
"Did she tell you that she's confused about her feelings?" Kol slowly walked over to Elijah.
"I was more surprised to find her so different."
Kol glided a hand through his messy hair. "It all happened so fast that I didn't realize that I lost her, even before I killed her."
"She's still a witch, Kol."
Elijah expected a bigger reaction than Kol simply turning to face the fire.
"I reckon this is that moment when you give me a deceiving speech of how much she needs you, now that she's a unique creature with no reference to the supernatural."
"She's always been unique." Elijah quietly stated.
Kol faced him. "And you've always been lurking in the shadows, waiting for your chance."
"We haven't acted on any of our feelings." Elijah kept his quiet range.
With disdain, Kol chuckled. "Is that meant to make me feel better?"
"I know that you're troubled by all of this."
Kol knew that Elijah was only attempting to keep him calm but that was the last he wanted to do right now.
"Where is she?" He harshly asked.
Elijah resumed his usual stance of hands inside of his pockets and quiet wisdom. "Bonnie's vampirism has awakened her visions again and we parted ways when she stayed in Brazil with Angelus. He's going to help her…"
Elijah stopped as Kol hastily turned his back and left.
He lowered his head with a sigh, his family was sacred to him, but he felt that every time they managed to save one of them, another one just slipped right through their fingers.
"Damon, I'm worried, ok? She was supposed to meet me yesterday, but she never showed up."
Damon didn't bother looking back at Stefan, he was choosing a shirt to wear and that's where his eyes remained.
"Here's what happened, Katherine seduced you just to prove that she could and when she was tired of using you, she left town, knowing that you would be waiting for her with a cute little bag and a romantic destination in mind…" He looked back at Stefan. "Europe… Dominican Republic?" He raised his eyebrows.
"She wouldn't do that." Stefan was convinced of it, and he was upset that Damon wasn't listening to him.
"Wouldn't... such a strange word to use on Katherine, seems almost like... accurate, just that, it isn't." He chose the blue shirt.
Stefan gave him a harsh look. "She had no reason to leave. Not without me."
Damon quickly got dressed and grabbed his leather jacket on his way out. "Even if something did happen to her... I don't care about it."
All that Stefan could do as he watched Damon leave was wonder why he cared so much.
"What are we doing here?" Damon asked Klaus as they arrived at what was literally the only crossroad that existed on Mystic Falls.
"We're meeting someone." It was time for Klaus to channel his hybrid mood, which was basically a determined expression.
"I got that, Klaus... just... why am I here?" Damon sat on the hood of the car.
"For company." He answered Damon, right about the same time that Jeremy arrived in his car.
"Thanks for coming." Jeremy closed the door of his car crisply. "But you were supposed to be here alone."
"The only thing stopping me from killing you, is the slight interest I have in what you have to tell me, so please... don't ruin your scarce chances, mate." Klaus asked with a smile.
Motivated by that, Jeremy went straight to the point. "I know of a way to get Elena back to us."
"And you have preached it in every corner." Klaus's interest was fading rapidly.
"If you help me, I'll convince her to give you blood to make hybrids for as long as she lives."
"Have you lost what was left of your tiny brain?" Damon asked him.
Klaus wasn't entirely sold on the kid's sanity either. "You're willing to make a deal that would make her want to be dead anyway?"
"Wouldn't you do the same for your sister?" Jeremy asked back.
"I did unspeakable things for Rebekah, and she hated me for most of them, but still, we had eternity to work things out. You don't have that luxury."
"I don't care, I just want her back and you want your hybrids." Jeremy pushed on.
"Tatia came back with dead blood, how do I know that your sister doesn't come back with useless blood in the end?" Klaus inquired naturally.
"She's a doppelgänger, you know that her blood is different."
Klaus smiled. "I want something in return for my aid."
"Name your price." Jeremy was riled up that finally someone was willing to help him.
"Vicki Donovan." Klaus dropped as he turned back to the car.
Damon opened his door with a question for Klaus. "This is the exact outcome that you were going for, when you agreed to meet with Jeremy, wasn't it?"
Impishly, Klaus smirked. "When you're a good villain, everything lays out for you effortlessly."
That was one way of seeing it, and Damon exchanged a sour look with Jeremy before Klaus drove away.
Caroline was making a list of the activities that she wanted to undertake this year in school while she waited for Rebekah to end her meeting with the principal.
She couldn't compel herself out of these situations, so Rebekah was under fire, especially after getting into a loud squabble with Kensi, that culminated with a new haircut for the girl who dared to say that Rebekah shouldn't be up in the pyramid because she was too heavy.
Now, Caroline was waiting for the rebel outside of the principal's office and she was sitting with another girl.
While the other was reading about the wonderful waterfalls in Mystic Falls, Caroline had another good look at her list. She had a lot of things planned for the school year, not to mention her community obligations and getting back on track with her mother.
Ummm… where would she find the extra time to be with Klaus?
She frowned, how would she find the time to pose for Klaus's sketches and spend time alone with him? And how was she ever going to find the time to seduce and flirt with him and have extraordinary sex with her husband?
Vampire or not, she needed to cut back on stuff, and she started crossing items on her list like a maniac.
The girl sitting next to her was discreet, but she still chuckled with Caroline's doings.
Caroline looked at the girl with a smile. "Never mind me... I just had a lot of things on my bucket list, and I need to sort out my priorities."
The brunette smiled. "I can totally relate. Before I joined my group, I used to have time for so many other things."
"Group, as in a Rock band?" Caroline asked curiously.
"Nah… more like a cult." The other replied with ease.
Caroline shrugged. "Welcome to Mystic Falls."
"I'm Hayley, by the way. Soon to be the new girl." She raised a bunch of papers in her hand.
"I'm Caroline Forbes Mikaelson." The other couldn't resist having all the names roll out of her tongue.
Hayley's smile seemed to fade out at first. "I've heard about you."
Caroline wasn't sure what to expect, so her big smile was put on hold as well. "You have?"
"I was told that you were larger than life and I doubted him at the time, but I guess that it's easy for men to find you attractive."
Caroline straight away dropped her smile, altogether. "Who told you about me?"
"Tyler Lockwood." Hayley wasn't sympathetic at all, either.
Caroline licked her lips, covered in a cherry blossom color. "How did you know him?"
"My pack helped him, when he was trying to break his sire bond..." Hayley had another long look at the blonde. "Did he do it in the end? Because I went to his house, and I found it abandoned."
Caroline was too affected to remain composed. "They are all dead." She stood up with a whisper.
"Yeah, I thought so." Hayley kept her cold look on Caroline.
"I don't know you well enough to tell you everything that happened, and you don't know me well enough to judge me."
Hayley lifted her hands a little bit. "I know that Tyler was hot and that he was a really cool guy, so I wish I had a guy like that willingly breaking every bone, over and over, for me, but hey…" She lazily smiled. "Maybe that Mikaelson on your name is worth killing one to stay with the other."
Caroline's eyes were made of blue steel as she glared right in the direction of Hayley. "The good thing about this town is that it's so tiny that we're going to bump into each other a lot." Caroline curved her lips into a challenging smile. "I'm looking forward to that." She started to walk away.
Hayley laughed. "Aren't you going to wait for your friend?"
Caroline didn't look back and she only stopped when she was already out of the building where she called Klaus.
She was happy to see his car, but Damon wasn't as happy as he left it.
"Talk some sense into your hybrid." He simply said as he walked by her.
"Hey." She somberly said as she closed the door of the car.
She barely looked at him.
"What's the matter?"
"Just... drive." She asked in a low voice.
The silence inside of the car helped her relax and she focused on Klaus's easy breathing, which was soothing, and she was better, as soon as she started leaving the town behind.
"There's a new girl in town and she's a werewolf. She knew Tyler and she confronted me about him, and all the choices I've made."
"A world of events has taken place since then."
She nodded, glancing outside of her window. "I know... it's just strange having the past haunting me like that."
"Humans die, but we don't, just like their memory doesn't. It lives on, to remind us of the choices we've made throughout the years." Klaus slowly pulled the car to the side of the road to stop there.
"What did you do to get Damon so upset?"
"We had an encounter with Jeremy…" He licked his lips. "… and he offered me a deal."
She narrowed her eyes at him.
"He offered me Elena's blood to make Hybrids, if I help him bring her back."
"Nik..."
He didn't say anything but when she got out of the car, he knew that he was in trouble.
"I can't believe that you're even considering it."
For the time being, Klaus chose to be quiet and to let her get all of her frustration out.
"Do you have any idea what all this will do to Rebekah? She's in love with Damon and if..." She shook her head "… and then there's Elena..."
"There's not an easy way out of this, but everyone could have a win out of it. In the end, Jeremy will have his sister back, you will have your friend back and I'll have my hybrids." He easily led her through his point of view.
"This is going to mess with everyone's life and all because you want your stupid army, Klaus."
"Everyone has proclaimed lately how much I've changed, when in reality I haven't." He raised his voice. "The only aspect I've changed about myself is my list of priorities."
She looked away from him, with another shake of her head.
"I haven't erased my entire personality by marrying you, and naturally, I am considering this because there might be a way to achieve what Jeremy wants." He threw a hand in the air. "Elijah is the greatest example of that."
Caroline faced him worried. "My mom is right, we can't keep playing God, and I'm terrified with the consequences of what Bonnie did. It's unnatural to mess with death so much."
Klaus paced away from the car, upset.
Slowly, Caroline came around the car to stand before him.
"I know that you want this, because it's what you fought so hard to accomplish, but your curse is broken, and you have your army of hybrids already…" She cupped his face. "… there needs to be an end to all of this."
She knew the expression on his face, he wasn't going to say yes or no, right this instant, he was thinking about it and that's something that she could work with.
"Damon was there today for a reason."
"If Rebekah asks you to step down, will you do it for her?"
"Do you know where we are?" He countered instead.
"Not particularly…" She frowned.
"The most important night of our life together happened on this very road." He insisted.
She was even more confused.
"On a beautiful night like tonight, we danced together, and you called me Nik for the first time."
She smiled, remembering the night they danced in the middle of nowhere to Kings of Leon.
"Up until that moment, you were a very intense infatuation, but when you cunningly called me Nik, I didn't want anything else in my life but to have my name on your lips every day." He said, touching them with his finger.
Caroline gulped down.
"There is only one person on this entire planet who can ask me to step down from something that I want, and for whom I will comply, and that someone is you, Caroline."
She could have easily given him one of her speeches now, they were part of her, like her ever present humanity, but Klaus was part of her as well and she had to think about this.
"I can't believe that she called me fat." Rebekah was still fuming.
They were at his house and Damon laughed, enrapt by Rebekah's mischiefs.
"I love badass Bex, almost as much as I love sexy Bex." He teased her.
She looked at him sternly. "This is serious, Damon, so stop laughing."
"What's so incredibly serious about all of this?"
"School hasn't even started and I'm already in trouble... I'm not a vampire anymore, so I can't just get out of it with will." She huffed.
"You chopped off the hair of some chick, just because you didn't like what she said, and you still got away with a smile and those adorable freckles that you have."
She touched her face. "I don't have freckles…"
"Yeah, you do... when you were a vampire, I didn't notice them but now that you're human..." He poked her cheek. "Right there."
"Why am I here anyway?" She sighed, unable to remember how they ended up in his house, instead of hers.
"I wanted to talk to you..." He changed the tone of his joyful voice.
"What is this about?"
Damon was sitting on the sofa and leaned over to rest his elbows over his knees. "Your brother took me out for a test today."
"What sort of test?"
"He wanted to know how badly I wanted Elena back."
"How did it go?" She managed to keep her voice steady.
Damon didn't answer her right away, and she immediately bounced up from the sofa ready to leave.
Damon caught her hand. "Wait..."
"For what?" She demanded another quick answer that didn't come, so she tried to leave again.
Damon held her hand strongly. "Sit down, Rebekah." He asked her softly.
"No." She demanded that he freed her by just glaring at him.
Damon let go of her hand and raised his hands in the air.
"I'm genuinely fed up with all the Elena drama." She confessed, without taking a step away from him.
Damon stood up annoyed. "I need you to listen to me."
"I know exactly what you're about to tell me... I know all about how you want your precious Elena back, so just let me… go."
"I don't want to let you go." He simply said.
Rebekah closed her eyes, then she felt his lips on hers and this overwhelming need to be reassured that he wasn't just saying what she wanted to hear.
"This isn't about Elena…" He kissed her lips again, before trailing off to her neck. "You're here and I don't want to let you go."
Rebekah smiled as she opened her eyes. "Then don't, Damon."
With an instant change of breathing, he kissed her deeply, his hand was siding her neck and he glided his thumb across her soft cheek while Rebekah started to pull his jacket down his arms.
When it hit the floor, Damon sat down with Rebekah straddling him. She opened his shirt to rest her palms over his chest and while the heated kiss intensified, she lowered the shirt down his shoulders.
Damon's hands were swiftly finding their way inside of her top to touch the skin that he wanted to kiss, he pulled her shirt over her head slowly, throwing it behind them and over the sofa and moving so that Rebekah was resting on the sofa.
He started off by kissing her tummy, while his hands touched her breasts over her bra and Rebekah threw her head back moaning silently.
The sound pushed him to savor that bit of skin above her navel with his tongue. She liked that and her body naturally adjusted under him.
She could tell how hard he already was by the growing bulge in his pants and that excited her.
He came up to meet her lips and once again their tongues were a key part of the kiss, it was a sweet battle for dominance, but Damon was winning by the slightest margin. Probably, because she was busier caressing his shoulders and running her nails lightly along his back.
It wasn't a surprise that he hissed into the kiss, and it wasn't one either that he slid a hand under the small of her back to secure her, so that he could leave the sofa with Rebekah in his arms.
They never broke away from each other, while he carried her to the bedroom, hard-pressed against him.
She had her legs around his waist and her lips glued to his, and Damon swiftly popped the hook of her bra leaving it on the way to the bed. She only parted from his lips when he laid her on the king-sized mattress.
With desire in their eyes, Rebekah and Damon undressed for each other, it wasn't their first time together but yet it somehow was.
There existed this intense will to make love to each other and Damon laid on top of her unwilling to prolong things.
Rebekah wrapped her legs around him and she was so wet that he slid all the way inside of her with just a thrust. They were so in sync that they even gushed out this hot raspy gasp at the same time.
Damon slid out, only enough to set a pace that was unstopping, and easily, he brought forth her first orgasm with only a few pushes.
In charge of her pleasure, Damon kissed her lips softly and stroked her burning cheek whilst sliding out of her almost to a full.
Rebekah's breath was shallow, and she could hear her heart drumming in her ears, but all that was secondary to that jolt of pleasure that Damon gave her when he thrusted back into her with one deep push that wasn't followed by another instantly.
He took his time and by his third thrust she understood how really slow he was going with this and how good it felt, she wasn't as sensitive now that he was slower, and she was comfortable with the notion that he was going to prolong her orgasm for as long as he could.
"I want you to be my girl, Bex." He whispered against her lips, just before he moved his hips for another deep plunge.
Rebekah kissed his bottom lip lovingly. "I already am…"
He swept her lips with his tongue before engaging her tongue, the kiss lasted for a couple of thrusts and when he left her mouth, he kissed his way along her cheek until he found her ear.
Rebekah locked her ankles around his waist, searching for a familiar position with him.
"Tell me if I'm hurting you." He whispered before sliding right into a place that he knew was responsive for her.
All that Rebekah could do was whimper, pleased that he quickened his pace.
It wasn't a question of pain, it was knowledge of how to please her and the scream that left her, was one of rapture.
Katherine looked at Eric and at his adoptive father, in silence, while they were getting their plans straight, she assessed her current situation.
Her wrists were hurting because of the heavy steel chains, and she was trapped inside of some unknown dark cave, she had no idea what was going to be of her, just that the one they called Master, wanted to find a way to use her blood as a gift for Klaus.
The man was tall and handsome, he was also known to have a deep scar above his heart due to a sword wound that was supposed to have killed him, many centuries ago. For Katherine, it was impossible to miss the resemblance, or how twisted, yet playful his smile was.
"You can always share with us your thoughts, Katherine." He told her.
"I don't like sharing." She coldly replied.
Eric and the Master laughed, but he was the one interested in Katherine.
He handed a Grimoire over to Eric, and neared Katherine. "Can I call you Katerina? I'm fond of the old names."
"You have to let me go, before we become that intimate."
"And you can call me your worst nightmare."
"That's such a cliché."
He bent over with a chuckle. "I'm a man in love with the old ways, when we would just seduce another man's beautiful wife, and have our entire clan killed because of it."
Someone came inside of the room in a hurry and whispered something to Eric, he wasn't happy about it and nodded that he should take the news to the older man.
Katherine noticed that the boy with a wolf tattoo showing from his collarbone, was shaking as he came closer to them.
The Master questioned his proximity at once with a silent look.
"Elijah is back, my Lord." He informed him, with a shaky voice.
The man's entire expression changed, and he was burning with anger as he neared a long table that was cluttered with weapons, he randomly picked one of the swords and with a blinking speed and skill, he turned around decapitating the messenger.
Katherine wondered if he was turning his anger towards her, but he handed the sword to Eric, oozing now nothing but calmness.
"Find me the witch who did it." He ordered Eric.
"I'm on it." Eric left at once.
"Now us…" The Master smiled again at Katherine. "How helpful are you willing to be?"
