A/N: HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE! I HOPE YOU HAD A MARVELOUS 2013 AND 2014 IS 10X BETTER (well I mean VA comes out so obviously it's already better than 2013 right :) haha) Either way...2 things...
Last week I said Merry Christmas and after posting it realized some of you might not celebrate that and I'm terribly sorry! I mean to add or just say Happy Holidays...so to those who don't celebrate Christmas, again I'm sorry, and I hope you had a festive time celebrating your own holidays and traditions.
Aslo, If I can get Ch 19 done by sunday I'll post it this Sunday (it's a chapter I've been struggling for a while tbh) and if not I'll either post again on next Wednesday or on the Sunday after...sorry :/
So without further ado...Rose and Mom face off...kinda...OH! please read my AN after the chapter...and review! I love hearing from you!
Disclaimer: I own nothing but the story plot...all the characters and hot Russians belong to Richelle Mead...*tears* I wish I had a hot Russian...
"Rose...marie...Hathaway," my mother said from behind me. My eyes widened as I turned around and faced here, my hand turning Dimitri's blue.
"Hey, Mom," I started to say nervously. "Have you—"
"Have you no shame?" She asked in a low, but threatening, voice as she yanked me away from Dimitri. "Standing here messing around with some stranger while your boyfriend's at the bar lonely."
I quipped my eyebrows at her. What is she talking about? I thought before remembering that she hadn't met Dimitri or found out that Adrian and I were never a thing. A soft chuckle escaped my lips as I roughly pulled away from her and stepped closer to Dimitri, his arms wrapping around my waist automatically.
"I don't know what you mean. My boyfriend's right here," I said before glancing over at the bar. "and it seems that Adrian has company." Mentally laughing seeing him trying to get Sydney to smile.
She looked confused, and slightly taken aback as she looked up at Dimitri. I don't know if it's because of his height or whatever his facial expression was, but whatever it was, she most certainly wasn't expecting it. She was about to say something before I cut her off.
"So next time, mother," I said in a cold tone, sneering when I called her mother. "I suggest getting your information straight before going around . Actually next time act like a mother and be in my life before talk—" I cut myself off when she slapped me. My hand automatically shot up and cradled my reddening cheek. My eyes portraying the shock that passed over me.
Dimitri's arms tightened and Janine's hands covered her mouth. "I'm so sorry, Rose! I didn't mean to, I swear. But you, you, you were just so disrespectful you..."
"So you slapped me like I'm your dog?" I growled, my shock having melting into anger. "I can't believe you! Not once have you talked to me since kicking me out. Not once have you made an initiative to get back into my life. Not once have you even asked dad if you could join us for dinner! It's like your duty as a mother ended when I left. But I say the truth to your face and now you want to evoke your rights and discipline me? Don't talk to me. Don't approach me. I swear, Janine, your as good as dead to me" I pushed past her as my eyes turned glassy. I wiped away the lone, traitorous tear that slid down my cheek.
I felt Dimitri's big, warm hand wrap around my waist and direct me towards his truck. He didn't say anything while we walked or while he drove. When we got home, he let me drag him to the couch without saying anything or objecting like he always does. He didn't say anything until I sat on his lap and let the tears fall. And all he said were comforting words, in English and Russian, while drawing soothing circles on my back. I must hav fallen asleep cus I woke up the next morning in bed without a clue on how I got there.
Ding. "Hello?" said the lady sitting on the stool in front of the message chair with a foot tub.
"Hi," I said as I lifted my sunglasses up into my hair. "I have an appointment for four under the name of Janine Hathaway."
"Oh yes. Ms. Hathaway. We can do manicures for two of you while we do pedicures for the other two," said the nail lady as she got up from the stool.
"That's fine, but um is it possible to add two more to our group?"
"Oh of course! They can get their facials done first."
"Great! Ok Lissa and I will get our pedicure done while Mia and Viktoria do their manicure and Sydney and Jill can do the facials first," I dictated while we all went to pick our colors. In less than a minute we were all in our designated section getting pampered.
"I can't believe you got us an appointment here," Lissa said while one of the guys worked on her pedicure.
"I know. I'm awesome," I beamed as my guy, Ambrose I think is his name, let out a chuckle. I sent him a mock glare and he shrugged his shoulders before looking up at me and flashing me an innocent-but-not smile. I shook my head.
"Why did you use your mom's name though?" Lissa asked while Ambrose and I had our little stare conversation.
"Because I know you. I bet you called every nail salon in the phonebook, which I'm pretty sure you dug up from somewhere, and saw if there were any reservations under my name, your name, one of the girl's name, my dad's name, hell even Dimitri's or Christian's name." She looked at me with her jaw open, even Mia, Viktoria, their manicurist, Ambrose and the other guy just gaped at me and then looked at Lissa to see if I was right. Her cheeks turned pink, which told me I was right.
"How?"
"Your my best friend, Liss. If I didn't know you'd do that then why am I your maid of honor? Plus I learned from the last time I tried to plan a surprise for you."
"And you knew I'd never guess your mom's name. Even though that should have been my first guess. Ugh I hate this twisted logic. I swear the only person that could figure out your Rose logic is Dimitri. Even Mason and Eddie can't get it 100% of the time, and their military!"
"Wait, if you're name isn't Janine then what it is?" Ambrose asked as he trimmed my nails.
"Rose," I replied simply as I went back to flipping through the magazine.
Beep. Beep. I put the magazine down and took out my phone. A bright smile coming across my face I saw who sent me a message.
- What are you up to?
- Depends. What are you doing?
- Nothing, just hanging out with Ivan. Want to grab lunch?
- Hmm. Can't last a day without seeing me, Comrade? ;)
- Ha! A day without the most beautiful Rose in the world is a day not worth living.
"Hahaha," I bursted out laughing. Lissa looked at me like I belonged in a mental institute and Ambrose pulled back from rubbing my feet with the _. "Sorry. It's just...read." I handed Lissa my phone. She bent over laughing approximately five seconds after.
"I wanna know what's so funny!" Mia said craning her neck as far back as she could.
"A day without the most beautiful Rose in the world is a day not worth living." Mia and Viktoria.
"Did my brother send that?" Viktoria asked. When I told her he did she shook her head and called him a romantic sap. "What did you respond?"
"I haven't but I know what I'm going to say," I responded as I typed.
- Since when did my boyfriend turn corny?
- Since he's learned how bleak his life was before his girlfriend came into his life.
A smile took permanent residence on my face when I read him calling me his girlfriend.
- Aw that's so true! I bet right now you're bored out of your mind.
- Kinda. Except Ivan and I are about to go see American Hustle. Wanna join?
- Can I go while getting a mani-pedi and facial?
- I feel like that's rhetorical…
- :D you know me so well! Text me when it's done and maybe I'll be done xo
"Boyfriend?"
"Huh?" I asked Ambrose before responding "Oh yea." with a goofy grin.
"Lucky man. How long?"
"Oh just over a month."
"And you're are already in love with him? Must be a special guy."
"What?! No one said anything about being in love with anyone!"
"Woah, calm down. I didn't mean it in a bad way. I mean, the way you smiled when you were texting him, and when you talk about him, that's the smile all my friends say I get whenever my girlfriend's mentioned."
"Really? And you guys have done the I love you's already?"
"Yea. We've been dating for about five years, six months in we knew. I didn't mean to freak you out. I mean for some people it takes a year or more. For others it takes a week. Some people know it in their head at the same time they feel it in their heart. Others feel it in their heart, but haven't realized it in their head. Does that make sense?"
"Yea, sorta," I said absently as I thought about it. Could I be in love with Dimitri? Is it too soon to tell. I mean we've only been going out for a month, but after knowing him a few days I knew there was something special about him. I love Dimitri Belikov…? Well it has a nice ring, I thought before realizing something that made my stomach drop. What if he didn't feel the same? I mean according to Viktoria and his other sisters, he's become more open and outgoing since meeting me, but does that mean he feels something for me or just that he feels more free when he's with me, like he can let out his inner child like I do?
"Um, do you have a bathroom?" I asked Ambrose as he put the top coat on my nails. He nodded his head and pointed me in its general direction when he finished. "Thanks," I said as I got off my chair and walked down the hall.
3rd Person POV
"Hello, administration office. How may I help you?" said the receptionist while she filed her nails.
"Hi. I was wondering if I could be connect to whoever deals with withdrawing."
"If you're talking about withdrawing from the university, then that would be the Dean."
"Yes him. Could you communicate me with him?"
"Of course. May I ask who's calling?"
"It's not important it's just a random question I have."
"Well ok then. Let me put you through." She punched in the necessary numbers to transfer her to the dean of students. "Sir someone's calling to inquire about withdrawing from the university. They didn't give me their name, however, saying it wasn't important."
"Very well, transfer their call." The receptionist obeyed and connected the calls.
"Hello, Dean of students, may I ask who's calling?"
"It doesn't matter, sir, I just have a quick question."
"Well then, ma'am, what's your question?"
"Can I leave the school in the middle of the school year?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well I already paid for the fall semester, so I was wondering if I could withdraw after I'm done with the semester, meaning I don't come back in the new year."
"Well I presume you can do that. You just have to fill out the form and submit to myself within the last month of the semester, so in December. And then the council and I will look it over and approve or reject your request."
"Why would you reject a request to withdraw?"
"Well, if you're put on probation, or have received a scholarship, or are a member of any of our sports team or student councils, we have the right to reject your request."
"Understood. Well thank you for your time and for answering my questions."
"No problem, but may I ask why?"
"For no reason. Have a good day Dean."
"Same to you."
A/N: about the phone call...I don't know if any of what I said is true in terms of accepting or rejecting a withdrawl fromt the university requests. Can you guess who made the call? Remember, it could be any college, and any person calling...maybe it's Sydney ;)
Also..how was the scene with Janine? Did you like it? Too much? Too harsh?
How about the pampering scene with Romitri texting? Too fluffy? A little OOC on both Rose and Dimitri? I dunno I feel like love changes people :)
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK! Please! I love getting your reviews, espeically the ones that tell me how the chapter was :) See you next week!
So I have a new story I actually want to put out as I'm writing it. It's not my idea, actually its DEE2389's idea..and I'm just putting her thoughts into words...so...be on the lookout! I'll provide a synopsis at the end of next chapter and also a possible timeframe I'll be posting this beautiful story.
