Disclaimer I don't anything VA related
"Lissa please!" I practically begged on the phone as I found a table to sit at.
"Rose, I don't see what the problem is with going alone," she said.
"I just…you know want to have everyone there. It's been a while since I've gone to the carnival so I thought it'd be nice to make it a group thing."
"Yea or you don't want to get stuck alone with Dimitri."
"Yea that's totally it," I said sarcastically, biting my tongue so I didn't tell her we were together.
"Rose, don't you think it's time to give the man a chance?" she said in an exasperated voice, ready to hear my protest.
"Maybe, but not tonight. If he's there great, but I do want to make it a night with friends."
"Fine! Christian and I will be there," she said, caving in. I squealed, making Kristen jump as she brought me my coco. I said goodbye after thanking her a million times. Perfect timing to since my sexy boyfriend decided to walk in right then and there.
"Good morning," he said, leaning down to give me a soft kiss. I smiled as I kissed him back.
"Morning."
"Wait you guys are...?" Kristen asked, confused. I nodded my head. "But didn't you just...?"
"We don't want to tell them yet," I said. "We…I want to make sure we've finally moved on before telling them."
"That's why you want everyone at the carnival! So you guys can go on a date without them knowing!"
"Yup!" I said, popping my 'p.' She nodded her head and excused herself to go help someone at the counter. I reached over and put my hand over Dimitri, who was reading one of his western books. "You're fine with everything right?"
He looked up and gave me a heartwarming smile, the one he only gives his family…and me, as he turned his hand around to hold mine. "Of course I am. Sure I'm ready to shout to the world that you're mine and I'm never letting you go, but I understand why you want to wait. It's like throwing a bachelorette party before he even proposes."
I laughed, saying, "It's not that drastic. It's more I want you just to myself and when we come out I dunno it's just gonna be all everyone asks about for a while."
"You don't have to explain anything to me."
"Then you should shut me up," I said, biting my lips. Lust clouded his eyes as he managed to move me from my seat to his lap. A bright smile graced my lips in anticipation.
"You're wish is my command," he said before pressing his lips against mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck as our lips danced in synch with each other. The kiss was sweet and tender and interrupted too soon by my alarm.
I groaned as I detached from his lips, a smile on his face. "Guess it's time for work," I said as I got off his lap.
"I'll see you tonight?" he asked as he took my hand in his.
"Yup!"
As soon as we got outside, he pinned me against the car and gave a kiss more passionate than the one he gave inside. I couldn't stop the moan that slipped my lips, making him chuckle and pull away. He gave me a quick peck before stepping back.
"I'll see you later, Roza," he said before going into his truck. I just nodded my head as I got into my car, my head still reeling from the kiss. Part of me was scolding for giving in too easy, but most of me felt I waited long enough, and too easy would have been when I came back and he first asked me to take him back.
Either way, I was totally content with being with him period.
Little kids are running around, screaming and squealing, begging their mom's to go on this ride or that. A sense of melancholy passed over me as I smiled at the interaction. The little girl transformed into what I looked like at that age, except instead of asking to go on ride…I was asking my dad for my mom. Don't get me wrong, I loved the fact that no matter what business my dad was doing, he'd come home when the carnival happened to take me. Still, I wished I had my mom there like all the other kids.
"Mommy I want cotton candy!" a little girl screamed, breaking me from my thoughts. Cotton candy sounded good, and I could smell it's sweetness in the air. My mouth started to water as I thought about having some. As I looked around for some, I noticed a haunted house to my left, screams from there, to the right was a children's section with games for them, and right in front of me was food court, and behind that was the fun house, and in between that were different games. As I looked around, I saw little me running around wanting to go on every ride and my dad behind me telling me to be patient. My only response was a string of giggles as I enjoyed everything.
"BOO!" someone said behind me, making me jump and scream bloody murder. When I turned around I saw a mother pull her child close to her, fearful something might be happening. When I looked in front of me, I saw Christian bent over laughing, Lissa, Sydney, and Jill smiling and holding back laughter, but Adrian and Eddie laughing softly. Pissed, I slapped Christian on the back of the head, but that just made everyone laugh harder, even the girls. I glared at them before breaking into a smile.
"I forgot how much I loved the carnival," I stated when I met up with everyone.
"Because it makes you feel like a little girl or because of all the food?" Adrain asked.
"Both," I said with a devilish smile. "Speaking of food, should I grab something to eat or hit the rides first."
"Rides," everyone said.
"Don't want a repeat of senior year do we?" Christian asked with a smirk. My face paled and my smile dropped as I remembered stupidly eating an ice cream sundae before going on the tilt-a-whirl. Yea rides first.
"Bumper cars?" I asked, getting a nod from everyone. As we stood in line, we figured out if we wanted to pair up or drive solo. Adrian, Christian, and Eddie ended up driving for their girlfriends, leaving me to fly solo.
"If you're willing to wait, I'll ride with you after my shift's over," the ride attendant told me. My jaw dropped as Lissa and Sydney snickered behind me.
"I think I'll pass," I said, trying not to laugh.
"Aw he was cute, Rose," Sydney mocked. I glared at her before fast walking, but not running, to the last red car. I was almost there when someone swiped the driver's seat.
"Need a driver?" he said, in a Russian voice I'd recognize anywhere. I smiled slyly at him before hopping in the seat next to him.
"I was actually looking forward to driving myself," I said as I slipped the seat belt on.
"Oh sure you were," he mocked, his eyes dancing with humor, before leaning into to give me a soft kiss. I happily returned the kiss after making sure no one was by us. The guy who hit on me had started doing his round to make sure everyone was in safely and walked into view as Dimitri and I were pulling apart. I kinda felt bad for the guy.
"Sorry," I said sincerely, trying to not smile, but when I looked at Dimitri, I broke into a wide grin. "How'd you find me?"
"Paul and Zoya were in the merry go-round and I saw you guys starting to get in line. I may or may not have jumped the fence that barely comes up to my knees."
"You're such a bad influence,": I teased as the ride started going.
"I'm the bad influence? I beg to differ, milaya," he said. I laughed and began dictating where to go and who to hit. I may have "mistakenly" had him hit Christian about three times more than everyone else. Oops.
"You didn't tell us Dimitri was coming," Lissa said, a knowing smirk on her lips, as we left the ride.
"Yea well what can I say? I don't exactly keep tabs on the guy," I replied, trying desperately not to intertwine my fingers with Dimitri's. From the way his fingers twitch, I could tell he was having the same restraint problem. "So what ride do you guys want to go on next?"
"Actually," Christian said. "I promised Lissa I'd win her a big teddy bear, so I wanna make sure I have done that before doing anything else." He grabbed Lissa and they started walking towards the dollar carnival games section.
I groaned and turned to my four other friends. "You guys up for some spinning in a cup?"
"We'd love to, but Syd here made it very clear she wanted to watch the sunset on ferris wheel. Sorry, little love, but you know me. I can't say no to her," Adrian said sheepishly before wrapping his arm around her shoulder leisurely and steering her in another direction.
"Eddie?" I asked, knowing he had some reason to run off.
"Well…I…we…Jill hasn't eaten all day cus her boss had her do some photo shoot. I mean, it's a miracle they got done on time. So I'm gonna go stuff her with pizza and slushies," Eddie said, tripping over his excuse.
"Uh huh. Just remember this when you need my help," I said before they walked to the food court. "I can't believe my friends ditched and left me alone."
"You're not alone," Dimitri said, engulfing my hand with his. "But now that I think of it, I should go back to mama and the kids."
I turned and slapped his chest, glaring at him. He gave me a big smile before stealing another kiss. I leaned against him as I kissed him back, his arms wrapping around my waist.
"Shoulda known," Ivan said, his voice booming, causing Dimitri and I to spring apart. We turned and saw him with an arm around Vika's shoulder and his other arm around Cassidy's waist. "Oh don't mind us. You two go back to what you were doing." He added a wink for emphasis.
"So how long have you two been back together? Since the birthday dinner? Or after the party?" Vika asked, her wiggling eyebrows cementing what she was insinuating.
"Neither," I said, figuring since the cat's out of the bag might as well set the record straight. Dimitri, coming to same conclusion, came back to my side and wrapped his arm around my waist. "We um had dinner a few days ago and that's when. Tonight's actually our first date. But you two can't say a word." I pointed at Ivan and Vika, giving them a glare that spoke legions of what would happen if they didn't head my threat.
"Oh a secret love affair. I'm game," Ivan joked, while Vika asked why.
"Have you met my friends? Dimitri and I would have to jump through hoops to get a single second alone. And he'd be watched like a hawk making sure he doesn't screw me over again," I said, a little over dramatically, but it got the point across. I saw guilt and sadness flash through Dimitri's eyes quickly, but also saw Vika and Ivan share an odd look before looking at me. "Either way, we just want to enjoy this on our own for a while. It was suppose to be a whole group thing, but my friends ditched me."
"Us," Dimitri corrected.
"Whatever. Where's Niko?"
"Oh," Vika answered. "He's out getting something for the party. So I'll be the cockblocking third wheel to your date." She gave an innocent smile, meaning she fully intended to live up to that title.
"Well I'll leave you guys to it," Ivan said. "I got a sunset to watch from the ferris wheel."
"You and Adrian both," I muttered as they left.
"Cotton candy anyone?" Vika asked.
"Ferris wheel?" Dimitri asked as he wrapped his arms around my waist from behind.
"Mmm, yea that sounds good," I said as I leaned back into him.
The sun had set a while ago and I had dragged Dimitri to every ride. I wouldn't go anywhere until we did the Haunted House and the Fun House and ran into his sisters and Paul, where they were trying to get Zoya to go to the Haunted House. After swearing on my life to defend her from every monster, she went with us and ended up in Dimitri's arms, clinging to his neck with his dear life. Honestly, it was the cutest thing ever. Afterwards, we stayed with the Belikova women and went to the carnival games. I had Dimitri do all the games, and left with an armful of prizes. I let Zoya and Paul grab whichever ones they wanted, even though I nabbed a few for Anja, and the big life size teddy bear was totally off limits. Actually the only reason we got separated was because I went to the bathroom with Zoya and everyone else left so now it was just us three and Mr. Fluffy.
"Can we get ice cream, Uncle Dimka?" Zoya asked from his shoulder.
"Yea, Uncle Dimka, or deep fried twinkies," I teased.
"Ice cream," he said with a laugh. I turned around and locked my eyes with his sparkling ones. I stood on my tippy toes and titled my head up, he got the message and lowered his head, meeting my lips for a soft kiss. I kept my hands on his chest while his tightened around my waist, the kiss stayed sweet and slow.
"Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww," Zoya shrilled, making us break apart and laugh. "Roza he has cooties," she whispered.
"Yummy cooties," I said, winking at Dimitri. "How about that ice cream?" I took his hand and we walked to the shack that sold the frozen treat.
"Excuse me," an old lady said. We were so close that I wanted to keep walking, but I didn't want to be rude so I turned and faced her. "I don't mean to be rude, but I just have to say you have a beautiful family. You're daughter is so adorable she looks just like her father."
I looked at her confused and then turned to Dimitri and Zoya. Then it clicked. Belikov family have a really strong resemblance to each other, so it makes sense that Zoya and Dimitri look a lot alike, and I guess Dimitri and I looked like a married couple, but I'm too damn young to be a mom. Maybe that was a compliment…
"I'm sorry, but…" I trailed off when I turned around and saw the lady wasn't there. Looking back at my boyfriend and his niece, a small smile grew on my face as I imagined a little girl that looked similar to Zoya, but had my hair and my lips, and again a feeling of melencholy washed through my stomach. It felt like something so real, like it was close but just out of the grasp of my hand. I shook the feeling off and put on a smile as we made our way to the shack.
"Are you ok?" Dimitri asked once we were seated in our bench on the Ferris Wheel. Zoya was seated behind us, with Mr. Fluffy as her partner.
"Yea why wouldn't I be?" I asked as he wrapped his arm around me and pulled me closer.
"You had this sad look on your face after the lady left."
"Oh. It's just you look really good as a dad. I mean you glow and it's my fault you're not going to be one."
"Hey, we've been through this. There is no one I would rather have a child with then you. Tasha's not giving me something you can't, she's manipulating me with something I can wait to have with you. I'm not trying to be a dick or anything and neglect my child, but I'm not letting her control my life…not anymore. You know why I glowed?"
"Why?" I asked softly.
"Because when that lady said that, I was thinking about when we became parents. It doesn't matter if it's a year or two or five or even ten, I'll wait so that I can spoil my pregnant Roza and raise our baby with you. If and when Tasha lets me be a part of my child's life, I'll be happy because I'll be raising him with you by my side. I only picture a life with you."
I smiled up at him, tears in my eyes, and not knowing what to say, I do what I do best, and convey all my emotions and love into a kiss. As we started to descend, we broke apart, but kept our foreheads touching.
"Aw you two look cute," Vika said, her phone right in front of her. I turned my head slightly and smiled at her.
"Don't you have a boyfriend to be cuddly with?" I asked as Dimitri and I got off.
"Yea but he's helping Mama load the car. Speaking of which, seems like the little princess's exhausted," she said. Sure enough, when Zoya's carriage came down she was asleep, resting her head on the teddy bear. I gently lifted her and she wrapped her arms around my neck, nuzzling her head into my neck.
"Oh thank you, Roza," Olena said as we joined everyone in the car.
"No problem. I love them and she's adorable."
"Well they love you too," Sonya said. "They're excited to have a sleepover with their Aunt Roza."
"Aw well I am too," I said before hugging everyone good bye and letting Dimitri walk me to my car.
"About the sleepover. I have a question," Dimitri said hesitantly, shuffling his feet and not looking at me.
"What's that?"
"Well I was wondering if you know you wanted to come over to my place with the kids. I mean I have some of their stuff that they usually must have when they come over, like their toothbrush and their bedtime toys," he rambled.
"I bet you do but I don't…well I just…every time I step foot in your apartment we end up in bed. I just...not yet, babe," I said, a look of disappointment and defeat filling his face. "But I have a bed too big for Anja and myself and my father's out, so if you want to stop by and stay because it's too late to go home..." A sly smile came across my face.
"I'll bring the food," he said before planting a kiss on me.
"Mmm I'll have the drinks then." After a few more goodbye kisses, I finally got into my car and drove home.
Tonight had definitely been an amazing first date. It didn't matter that we were with his family, because I felt like I was a part of it, not some outsider crashing. Olena treated me like a daughter, and it felt nice. Also, having Zoya for a part of it made it sweeter and I still had fun. Best of all, just because we were never alone didn't take away from the "first date" feeling, if anything, it added to it.
A/N: Awww well I'd call that date a success, wouldn't you? Do you think Rose is doing the right thing in keeping things a secret for now? Leave me a review and tell me what your favorite part was.
See you next week :):)
