"Merry Christmas, Comrade," Roza said as we finished our phone call. The last few days haven't been as bad as the first couple days were. It helped that we talked everyday, even if it was for five minutes, and at least twice so far we've alleviated the physical pain the distance causes us. It's one thing to know you satisfy your woman in bed, it's another thing knowing that you can satisfy her just as well with your words, and that she can do the same. I honestly don't know how I've gone through life without her in it, and I'm glad she was the one to take my virginity.
"Merry Christmas, Roza," I replied, feeling a bit melancholy that I wouldn't be able to talk to her until tomorrow. "Are you sure we have to hang up? I could put you on speaker phone and I'm sure mama would love to hear from you."
"How about I call you tomorrow morning then? I'm pretty sure you don't want to be part of what we're doing tonight."
"Fine," I sighed playfully. I didn't know what I was going to say next but hearing "Merry Christmas" whispered in my ear by the last person I wanted to see made me end that call quickly. "I got to go, babe. Mama's calling us to the dining room."
"Ok. We're about to start our Christmas Eve dinner too. I love you."
"I love you too, milaya," I said with a big smile as I hung up the phone. Turning to the person next to me, my smile quickly turned into a scowl. "Can I help you?"
"Oh so now you're talking to me?" Tasha said in fake surprise. "I guess your girlfriend should go away more often. Hey maybe she won't come back!"
"Watch what you say, Tasha," I said in a low, threatening voice. Thankfully my mother walked in, surprise written all over her face when she saw Tasha.
"Natasha, sweetie, I wasn't aware you were joining us," she said, masking any negative feeling she has towards her. I've always been open with my mom, so she knows what happened with Rose thanks to Tasha.
"Oh I'm sorry for crashing your dinner, Mrs. Belikova. I didn't have any plans and well I wouldn't stop bugging Chris until he agreed to bring me." From the corner of my eye, I saw Christian glare at his sister. Using this to my advantage, I got up and greeted my best friend.
"Hey, you wanna join the other guys in the game room?" I asked. When he nodded his head, I started walking upstairs, kissing my mama on the way up.
"Um, aren't you forgetting something, Dimka?" Tasha asked, getting up from the couch. Thinking about it, I knew what she was referring to, but I wasn't going to play in her games.
"Oh right!" I said, taking pleasure when I saw her break into a smile. "Mama, if you need any help, I'm sure Tasha would be more than happy to lend you a hand." Stopping herself from laughing, Mama couldn't stop the sly grin that grew on her face.
"DIMKA!" Tasha shouted, clearly annoyed with my answer. I barely lifted my eyes to her and waited for her to continue. "Aren't you going to invite me upstairs with your friends too?"
"Uh no," I said quickly. "Like you said my friends are upstairs, and you are merely some girl I have the misfortune of going to school with. And it is because they are my friends that I'm not inviting you. The less time we have to spend with you, the better tonight will be. Plus, you don't even like video games or the movies we watch. Actually I'm pretty sure there isn't a thing in this world you have nothing to complain about." Taking satisfaction in her jaw dropping, I proceeding in going upstairs and hanging out with my friends until dinner was ready.
"Dudes! You missed the bitch slap of the year!" Christian said as soon as we got into the room. i calmly walked to the couch, not really having an interest in the retelling of what happened downstairs.
"No pretty sure we were there when Rose put your sister in her place," Adrian said, pulling his phone out. "Yup got it right here."
"Why do you still have that?" Andre asked, looking over his shoulder at the video.
"Why do you care?"
"Guys! that's beside the point!" Christian said. "I meant verbal bitch slap."
"I'm pretty sure Rose takes the cake on that one," Adrian countered, doing it just to piss Christian off. "And I'm positive we were there for that one too."
"Do you have a video too?" Andre asked, trying hard not to laugh as Christian's icy blue eyes narrowed at the two of them.
"Stop being dicks and let him tell the story," Eddie said, unable to hold back a few chuckles.
"Thank you! Either way. Dimitri just told my sister off," Christian said, quick to tell the main point before anyone interrupted him again.
"Wait. What is she even doing here?" Adrian asked.
"She kind of blackmailed me into bringing her."
"How?" Andre and Eddie asked at the same time, quickly going into a jinx war.
"Aside from taking away my driver's license so she'd have to drive, she said she'd show Lissa pictures from when I was with Mia and tell her they were taken over break."
"Wow. No offense dude, but your sister is seriously mental," Andre said.
"Tell me about it. And then when we get here and I see she's getting out, I tell her she can't come since she's not invited, but does she listen? No! And what does she do when she walks in? Goes and whispers in Dimitri's ear! Who was on the phone with Rose!"
I swear Christian's the girl in the group. Before anyone starts with 20 questions, I tell my side of the story.
"Luckily Roza didn't hear Tasha and we were ending our call, so nothing happened there. What ticked me off was that she wanted me to invite her up so I just spoke my mind and walked away."
"And what did you say exactly?" Eddie asked.
"That she wasn't his friend. He was doing us a favor by making our time with her as short as possible. And she doesn't like anything," Christian said, counting each thing on his finger.
"It's a good thing you let her down easy, isn't it?" Adrian joked. Shaking my head, I changed the conversation and asked if they wanted to play video games or watch a movie. Of course, we ended up playing Mortal Kombat until Mama called us down.
"Dimitri, honey, can you say grace?" Mama asked once we were all seated and served. At home it's usually the youngest that says grace, and since Vika's not here, I'm the youngest.
"Dear Lord, bless this food that we're about to eat. Thank you for giving us this time to spend as a family and thank you for the blessings and opportunities you've given us. Please watch over Roza, Vika, and the girls on their trip and bring them back home safely. And please watch over us too. Amen."
"Thank you, honey," Mama said as we started to eat.
"Uncle Dimka, where's Vika and Roza?" Paul asked from the other side of the table as Karo helped him cut his meat.
"They're on vacation."
"Why?" he asked, losing interest in his food as he looked at me, eyes wide and curious.
"Because they wanted to."
"Why?"
"Because they can?" I was running out of reason for why quickly, and he knew it.
"Why? Why? Why?"
"PAUL!" Karo said, giving him a deadly look.
"Whaaat?!" he whined. "I just miss Roza."
"Roza!" Zoya shouted from her high chair, extending her arms out and grasping the air.
"What? Does she want Rose's tits?" Tasha muttered next to me.
"Natasha!" I said, scowling at her when she shrugged her shoulder. Whenever Rose would come over, Paul and Zoya were attached to her hips. Zoya was only a few months old, but she loved playing with Roza's hair, even if most of the time she tugged it. And since I've been babysitting her while Karo went to work, and all I've done is talked about or to Roza, it really shouldn't have surprised everyone when Zoya's first word was "Roza."
"See what you started?" Karo told Paul as she picked up Zoya, who was seconds away from crying since no one responded to her call for Roza.
"Sorry," he muttered, turning back to his food.
"Hey don't be sad, bud," Andre said, ruffling his hair. "I miss them too, you know? Rose, Vika, and my sister. But they'll be home soon." Paul looked up and gave him a broad smile. Seeing Karo still struggling with Zoya, I got up and offered to switch places so she could go eat. Graciously agreeing, she returned to her seat while I walked out to the living room to and pulling out my phone, sitting down in the first seat I came by.
"Dimitri?" Roza asked, her face popping up on my phone, her eyes looking at me curiously. "I thought you were having dinner."
"I was. Then I finished and now here we are."
"Here we are. Not that I don't love seeing your gorgeous face, but is there a reason for calling?"
"I love seeing your beautiful face, too, Roza," I said, smiling when I saw her blush before shifting Zoya in my arms, who was looking around trying to find where Roza's voice was coming from. "And I have a little surprise for you." I tilted the phone so Zoya was on the screen too.
"You had a baby I didn't know about?" She teased before breaking into a smile. "Hi Zoya! How's Roza's favorite princess?" Zoya's face broke into a grin, giggling at the faces Roza was making, trying to grab her hair while she kept baby talking to her. Completely content with watching, I shifted Zoya in my arm so she was sitting down.
"Aw aren't you guys just one big happy family," Tasha said. Snapping my head up, I saw her leaning against the door frame looking at us with a dark look. Trying not to get Roza upset, I looked down ready to end the call when a voice came booming in.
"Who let the dogs out! Woof woof wo-WHAT THE FUCK MAN!" said someone in a deep voice, sounding like a football player. Suddenly my ears were blown out by someone - or ones - high pitched screaming.
"Roza what's going on?" I asked, hoping it was a movie they were watching.
"Um you know what, Comrade, I got to go. Call you tomorrow. Bye, Zoya!" she said before abruptly ending the call.
"Aw! Boo hoo! The untouchable slut ended being a…slut," Tasha said as she sauntered over.
"Shut up."
"Why if it's true? You're going to tell me that wasn't a guy shouting in the room? And don't say he's probably with one of her slutty friends, because then that means she's cheating on one of your friends."
"Watch it. One of her friends is my sister. And another one is your brother's girlfriend."
"Oh god let it be that goodey-two shoes! Please! Then Christian can get back with Mia."
"What's wrong with you?" I asked. "Actually don't answer that." I got up, heading back to dining room to give my sister her daughter back.
"Fine. But know this. When it comes out she's two-timing you, I'll be waiting. And I won't say 'I told you so.' Promise."
Shaking my head, I waked away.
"Paul, you want to come with us?" I said as the guys and I excused ourselves to go back to the game room. Quick to join, Paul was out of his chair and waiting for us by the entrance of the dining room before we got up ourselves.
"Don't forget to be down by the tree by midnight," Mama said as she picked up the dishes. "Or no early present for any of you boys." We all agreed to be down on time before dashing upstairs.
"So as honorary guest, Paul gets to choose what we do," I said as I led my little nephew to the shelves with the games and movies.
"Can we play Injustice?" he asked after a while. Everyone shrugged, and he happily put the game in and got out two controls.
"I'll play against you!" Christian said. I sat towards the back of the room, pulling out my phone hoping that I'd miss a call or a message. My heart sank when it came up empty.
"What's wrong, D?" Andre asked as he sat next to me. "Rose hasn't called?"
"She called after you came, but that's not the problem."
"Ok then what is?"
"Well when Zoya was acting up, I video called Roza so she could calm down Zoya. It was fine but then some guy's voice shouted so loud I could hear it and then she hung up."
"And now you think she's cheating on you," he said matter-of-factly. "Not to sound like a douche, but do you have any reason to doubt her? She's never cheated on you, and I can guarantee she never will. Maybe they were watching something and it was on louder then they thought."
"But then why would she hang up so quickly? Plus Tasha-"
"For one why are you listening to her? She's trying to manipulate you so you end things with Rose," he said angrily. "Secondly, did she not tell you what they were doing tonight? It's a damn miracle she answered your call."
"I guess you're right," I said before getting up and joining everyone watch Paul kick Christian's ass. The rest of the night was pretty much the same and then we headed downstairs to open one gift before going to bed. My eyes caught the small box resting on top of the fireplace mantle, my mood slightly damping as I wished a certain brunette was next to me opening her present. The feeling went away when I opened mama's gift and saw two tickets to the movies.
A/N: Any ideas as to what the girls are doing for their Christmas Eve celebration?
Leave me a review and I might update early :) have a good week everyone!
