Hey, so it's been a little over a month since last UPDATE. Now, I have reasons, mainly school related, some family related and other's were me being dumb, which is always usual. Anyway, I am hoping to get more UPDATES in possibly this weekend depending on how everything works out. I also changed my screen name, if anyone noticed (I doubt anyone did), but now I go by ThePhoenixOfHalos, I know pretty majestic, so don't fret if you can't locate this story through Tomiko Hinamori anymore, I'm still here just new name. So, moving on to long awaited, chapter 14.
"Three days have passed, mi princesa, there has been no news of Käsien." The curtains were drawn further away from the open window as Fransisco announced the latest news. I sipped at my morning coffee as I read the English newspaper; Pequeño stretched his legs out as he began waking up from his spot by my feet. He then hopped off and exited my room to receive his morning meal from the servants.
"That is not of my worry, Fransisco. That is the Earl Phantomhive's job. Otherwise, I do not want to get involved." I responded. Fransisco gave me a worried expression that I caught from the corner of my eye. I know why he frowned. He knows what today is, and with that memory stuck in my mind for eternity I am cursed with dullness and sorrow on this very day. Fransisco knew, but he does not speak of it for my sake.
I fold the paper and looked at the back of my right hand, observing the design, "Today will mark the fifth anniversary for La Rosa Divina Corporation. Five years since that day." I spoke softly as small memories of this day five years back began to resurface. Not only was today the day Fransisco and I started the entertainment company, but it was also the day I chose my destiny,
"The Swan Lake premiere will be next week. We will announce the five year anniversary there and hand out give-a-ways to the guests." I ordered, as I began getting out of bed.
Fransisco gave a curt nod before placing his hand over his heart and bowing, "Como usted quiera, mi princesa." After that he placed my gloves on and called Jupita to get me ready for the day.
"Buenos dias, Señorita." She greeted happily. I looked up at her and forced a smile. I will be doing this a lot today.
"Buenos dias, Jupita." I greeted back.
"Young master, it is time to wake up," the black clad butler announced as he pulled the curtains letting in the morning sun, "A poached salmon with mint salad has been prepared for your breakfast. Toast, scones, and French pastries have been prepared as an accompaniment. Which would best suit your taste for today?"
Ciel let out a soft yawn as he sat up in bed, stretching out his arms, "I want the toast today." He answered. Sebastian offered him his morning cup of tea, which Ciel took gladly.
"What have you've gotten about Käsien?" Ciel looked up at the butler. Sebastian stood straight as he reported to his master.
"I did as you commanded and went on the last train that departed last night. I observed a strange man as the lady reported. He was dressed in a trench coat and hat. His face was hidden, but he was socializing with women mostly. I did, however, find the scent of blood on him. It was faint, but I was sure it was the three victims' blood. I also noticed when he was taking a drink, that his left ring finger had a silver band. Other than that, nothing much happened on that train. I had to return to wake the young master." Sebastian took the earl's cup and began to dress him.
Ciel taking all this in began to ponder on his next move. This man might be the suspect, but he's not fully sure. He wants to be certain so that he doesn't make the same mistake like he did in the Jack the Ripper case. He still regretted wearing that damned corset. Sebastian smirked sensing his master tense. Once fully dressed, both butler and earl stood heading to breakfast.
"I want you to confirm that he is the culprit. I will not allow any mistakes. Return to the train before it is scheduled to return to London. Be sure to keep an eye on any suspicious activity." Ciel ordered, "Is that understood?" he asked.
Sebastian; placing his hand over his heart, gave a small nod, "Yes, my lord."
After breakfast, Sebastian was off to catch the train. He was sure to order the servants to do their chores and to watch over the young master while he was gone. 'I do hope this human will make a move on the ride back' Sebastian thought, 'It will make my job much easier.'
Five years. Five long years. It didn't surprise me how fast time has passed, but it intrigued me how I used that time to build my status and to establish this company through my own ideas and decisions. I knew what I wanted and I knew how wanted to get it. Selling my soul to the devil did not bother me at all, for I was already living in hell, but I always idolized that man; that man that would always play the guitar at the corner of the street. As he smiled and strummed his guitar staring straight at me, as if he was performing for me. I looked up to that man, because he made me fall in love with the arts. I looked at the stack of papers on my desk, the first page with the title "The Princess and the Bull." It was a play I've been working on for about two months and it's finally finished. After giving it one last proof read, it was ready for production. Though, I wanted to hold off this play for next month, which will mark the annual running with the bulls back home, in Spain.
Letting out a tired sigh; Pequeño, who rested by my desk, gazed up at me letting out a whimper. Mostly likely he sensed my unusual depression. I looked at him, giving him a small smile to reassure the loyal hound. With another whimper a laid his head back down.
Turning around, I let my gaze flow out the large window behind me, taking in the view of the garden and the small stables. I watched as Cortez and Cora were playing with the horses, a black stallion and a peppered mare. Watching the horses run around freely brought a smile to my lips, but it did not dispose of my depression.
My mind once again drifted to the deepest depths of my memories and this time it picked on the dream of my mother I had a few days back. What did it mean, and why did it feel so realistic? I know she's gone I watched her go; was she trying to tell me something? And if so, what was it? As all these questions popped in my mind, I did not notices that Fransisco had entered until I felt his hand on my shoulder. I flinched and turned to him.
"Mi princesa, is everything alright?" he asked with concern in his piercing blue eyes. I smiled weakly and nodded. My gaze drifted to the small slice of flan on plate in front of me. I gave Fransisco another small smile taking the fork and cutting a piecing, bringing it to my mouth and enjoying the sweet dessert. Fransisco always knows how to brighten my day with my favorite treats. As I ate my flan, Fransisco took the script from my desk and began skimming through it.
"I see you've finished the play. Have you thought about casting yet?" He asked as he flipped through.
I nodded, swallowing my recent bite to answer, "I heard of this opera singer."
"I thought this was a play, not an opera." Fransisco looked up confused.
"It is, but Lady Irene Diaz is what I pictured the princess to look like. I have faith that she will be a good actress just as she is a good singer." I answered. He gave a nod placing the script back onto the desk and claiming the now empty plate.
Fransisco gave me a concerned look, caressing my cheek softly, "Mi princesa, quiero verte sonreír." He spoke softly. I gave a small frown knowing I couldn't fulfill his simple request. At least not today.
"Perdon, Fransisco, pero no puedo, debido a mi dolor," My voice but a whisper as I moved his gloved hand away. He let out a soft sigh before leaving my study. Once more I was left with my thoughts and my sorrow.
