Ai: *chuckles weakly* Hi everyone... some of you might be wondering why it's taken so long to do this chapter ^ ^' Truth is, I did finish it a few months ago but the editing and checking took a while since it's 30 pages long-wait a minute 30 pages?! I thought it was 29 *slaps head after checking doc* okay so basically it was long process, I ended up being busy at work due to christmas times and finding time to edit was minimal. I truly apologise for the wait and hope that you all enjoy the chapter.
Chapter 7- Bluffing is not a sport
Yugi remained awake past eleven despite the fact school was in the morning, no instead of sleeping he was staring at his computer screen while reading something with the light off so no one would be awake or alert to what he was doing. At times he would move his hands before biting his lip and sighing heavily when he slipped up.
"This is really hard, how do some people do this?" Yugi pondered as he leaned on his chair before rubbing his eyes, pausing for a minute he reread the first part of the screen before trying again until it was twelve thirty at night. Seeing the time he grimaced knowing that he was going to be tired in the morning but shrugged it off as he turned the computer off. Once in bed after placing the puzzle on the night stand did he close his eyes, before Yugi could however process what was going on the sound of his alarm clock buzzed causing him to wake up and whine. Eyeing the hands on the clock which said seven thirty he got up and went to the bathroom in order to wash his face.
After washing his hands and drying them on the towel he eyes his hands before moving them, Yugi soon smiled before leaving the bathroom to change quickly. Once done did he rush to the kitchen and was about to greet Myra who like his mother was awake only the pair looked grim and tired.
"Morning?" Yugi said with a slight smile as he tried to remain positive, however just hearing his mother's half awake groan and Myra's lazy hand gesture had almost made him laugh at how they acted but refrained.
"Late night?" He asked causing his mother to look at him before sighing heavily.
"Yes Yugi, sorry darling it's been a busy evening given that Halloween is going to be tonight" Lily explains with a tired smile. Hearing that it was Halloween perked Yugi up since this would be the first time Myra would take part with them. Myra however eyed something near her before waving it away while mouthing mutely at something he couldn't see.
"What's wrong?" Yugi asked causing them to look at him.
"Spirits are a bit more active today until midnight" Lily admitted with a tired smile while Myra scowled at a troll like spirit who was trying to sit on her shoulder before it whined at her making shoo gestures, flashing it a glare the troll and Yugi froze in shock. Now shaken and scared of the glare the troll bolted in fear, there was no way he was bothering her again!
Seeing that he was gone Myra rested her head in her arms and whined mutely causing Lily to chuckle under her breath, she then looked at Yugi before giggling at his stunned expression.
"Yugi, earth to Yugi" Lily laughed a bit as she waved a hand in front of Yugi who jumped from the sudden move, Myra as she watched him had a bored look on her face before shaking her head slightly. Her eyes then spotted Solomon enter the room he looked tired but smiled at the group.
"I put the decorations up for Halloween" Solomon said before taking a seat on his chair.
"This will be your first year with us during this time, are you looking forward to Halloween?" Yugi asked with a smile only to blink as Myra frowned and shook her head. Eyeing her notepad she started writing lazily.
"It's just another day only it involves spirits and demons, why bother dressing up and that rubbish? All the demons do is laugh at the costumes and become more annoying" Myra stopped writing and slid it to Yugi who blinks in horror. No way!
"There must be something about Halloween that you like" Yugi asked but her look said it all. Biting the inside of his cheek he tried to brainstorm ideas.
"I could bring out the Ouija board but that might cause more harm than good" Lily admitted with a weak smile since they might accidentally summon a spirit or become possessed. Myra flashed her a look before getting up and left the room. Nope! The last time she endured Halloween she had almost froze her cousin Netto for pulling a prank on her involving a ritual, something his sister and Myra frowned on deeply. That and the caretaker was deeply angry at how he was abusing magical artefacts for fun.
"Oh dear..." Lily smiled weakly as the baffled males were left confused.
"You're kidding! Myra hates Halloween?! What kind of person hates it?" Joey yells loudly causing Yugi to wince, at that moment he regretted telling Joey anything about why Myra wasn't going to the Halloween party.
"Lay off Joey, Myra probably has a reason not to like the event" Tristan said before spying Bakura approaching them with a smile.
"Hey guys what is going on?" Bakura asked, Miho once she heard his voice turned and smiled brightly at him not that Bakura noticed the sudden change except Tristan who was in shock from her sudden change.
"Hello Bakura how are you?" She asked in a peppy voice.
"I am good" Bakura smiled "what about everyone?"
"I am okay" Téa replied while the others responded in a similar manner.
"Hey Bakura did you know Myra hates Halloween?" Joey asked bluntly shocking Yugi enough to make his eyes go wide, this was not going to end well.
" Oh..." Bakura was left speechless "no I didn't"
"Still bothering me that she- what she doing?" Joey asked as he noticed her glaring and swatting something in front of her as she was entering the room. Turning the group saw her almost throwing a tantrum as she mouthed and signed but paid no heed to anyone else. Huffing mutely she stomped over towards her desk and sat down causing the chair to make a plop noise, she then placed her bag on the desk not caring if she damaged anything since her mood thanks to the spirits was getting on her nerves by invading her personal space.
"That is weird, why'd you do that?" Joey asked, Yugi on the other hand had a sinking suspicion that the spirits or demons were bothering her causing him to wince slightly. Glancing at Joey for a bit she turned her eyes back to the board in hopes of the teacher showing up. She could only hope that the day would go by quicker but alas with how slow the hands on the clock were being, she doubted it leaving Myra wanting to skip class. Unfortunately that would only involve being bothered by spirits and demons who were still bothering her as it is. Glaring up slightly at a demon who was sitting on her head, it then suddenly screamed in pain before going as it was hit by something. Satisfied she relaxed slightly before sitting up.
"Hey Myra what's got you in a mood?" Joey asked again only to blink as he saw something that looked like frosted ice appear above her head, however he was not the only one who saw it. Startled Yugi and Bakura were left speechless at the small strange phenomenon which only appeared for a brief moment.
"What was that?" Téa pondered as she was left clueless like Miho. They soon watched her take a thin strip of paper and a pen. Frowning Myra wrote the words "demon/spirit barrier" before placing it on the inside of her blazer. She the looked at the group with a 'what?!' Expression on her face causing them to jump and chuckle weakly.
"We just wanted to know what was wrong" Bakura explained with a weak smile due to her glaring.
"That and why you're not going to the Halloween party" Joey interrupted rudely causing Yugi to jump in shock since he was the only one in the group that originally knew. Frowning with a blank look on her face she shook her head.
"Not bothered" was all she wrote.
"Why?" Joey asked before Tristan tried to convince Joey to leave her alone.
"It's an annoying day, too many buzzards around" she added only this left the group confused except Yugi who twigged on her response - Spirits and demons. Despite seeing the purple cat and his mother's ferret, that had been the only thing he could see not that his mother minded. His grandfather on the other hand was half sceptical about the whole thing not that his mother minded.
"-ugi! Earth to Yugi what will you be dressed up as?" Joey asked snapping Yugi from his thoughts.
"Oh I am not going" Yugi replied shocking Joey, Miho, Tristan and Téa. Bakura like Yugi was also planning to give the party a miss for various reasons, reasons that mostly involved safety.
"Hah?" Téa cried in alarm.
"Why?" Joey asked.
"I have things I wanted to do tonight" Yugi admitted causing Myra to look at him oddly. She hadn't heard about this.
"Man and it was going to be fun tonight!" Joey whined.
"S-sorry guys" Yugi smiled weakly as he lifted his hands up weakly.
"You had better show up for the next one" Joey muttered darkly.
"Man I still can't believe Yugi, Myra and Bakura won't come to the party" Joey muttered mentally as the group was walking until they were going to part ways for home. Myra during that day had been grouchy to his surprise while at the same time had being extremely quiet about what it was that was bothering her. Then again she did look a bit crazy given that she was either swatting nothing or mouthing at something that wasn't there. Once or twice she had glared at the space by the door, stomped her foot angrily and swatted while mouthing quickly at something that wasn't there. At one point she had thrown a book at the floor scaring those who heard the loud bang but she paid no heed.
Now as they head home she looked even more mad and tired to his confusion.
"Hey Yug, is she okay?" Joey whispered alerting Yugi who suddenly saw something fly past him causing him to jump in alarm and suddenly fall backwards, he winced as he felt the hard floor greet him. Myra soon turned to give him a withered look that looked as if she was pitying Yugi to Joey's surprise.
"Not you too Yugi" Joey whined before helping him up.
"What's going on with you? There was nothing there" Joey snapped while Téa and Tristan stared at them in shock. Yugi smiled weakly before spotting a small demon imp stare at him from a distance before scampering away on all fours which left him completely startled.
"Was that a demon?!" Shooting a panicked look towards Myra, he almost whined as she nodded glumly before walking away.
"They become more stronger and bolder as the night soon approaches" Myra handed him a note as he patted dirt off his jacket.
"Yug!" Joey raised his voice causing them to look at him. "Everything okay?" He asked before spying the paper and grabbed it.
'H-hey! Give it back!" Yugi cried as Joey, Tristan and Téa now eyed the note.
"Who is they?" Tristan asked bluntly as Yugi looked at Myra weakly.
"Um... black cats?" Yugi replied weakly almost kicking himself for making it sound like a question. The trio remained unconvinced.
"I didn't see one" Téa replied, she soon blinked as Myra walked away crossly. Nope! She was going home. Yugi now seeing this as a cue to run before anything bad happened waved before sprinting off.
"Bye guys see you tomorrow!" Yugi yelled cheerfully only to yelp and hit the floor as another demon tripped him up. The trio winced as he fell on the floor.
"Whyyy?" Yugi whines weakly before blinking as Myra helped him up while eyeing the demon that tripped him up angrily. She immediately stomped her foot in a warning gesture causing the demon to run in fear. The trio continued to watch now feeling a little scared from her sudden cold demeanour, just watching made them also want to run for no reason.
"Sorry..." Yugi winced as Myra opened the door for him as he rubbed the cut on his cheek. So far he was now seeing why she hated the day and it was now suddenly becoming the worst day as well.
"Hello Yugi-what happened!" Solomon cried in alarm alerting Lily to Yugi's embarrassment. Lily who saw the pair after running down the stairs cried out in alarm.
"WHAT AN EARTH HAPPENED?!" The startled mother cried before Myra handed her a note.
"Demon pranks and passed by demons" Myra stared at her pale aunt dryly. "It appears I am rubbing off on him because he can see them" the note said to Lily's dismay while Solomon was left baffled by her words.
"Mum, grandpa I'm fine" Yugi said weakly in hopes of calming his frowning mother down.
"Upstairs and clean yourselves up" Lily said sternly to the pair who did it anyways. Myra once they were upstairs immediately relaxed due to the barrier Lily had in place due to getting annoyed by a few trickster demons who had decided to make things fall on her head to her annoyance.
"Does this always happen every year?" Yugi asked weakly catching her attention as he wiped blood from his cheek.
"Pretty much" Myra showed him the note with a blank expression. "Although you had it lucky"
"How do you deal with it?" He asked weakly causing her shoulders to drop.
"No choice, this is their holiday after all" she retorted leaving him more miserable. Now that he thought about it, his mother had hardly left the house every time Halloween came and would get equally as mad as Myra. Speaking of Myra she did look frazzled before she collapsed on the couch to his surprise. Yugi watching her bit his lip as he wanted to do something but winced since he knew that he still needed to practice more.
"I am going study now, see you soon" Yugi said before leaving only to almost chuckle as Myra made a shooing gesture with her hand. Yup she was tired, not that he could blame her after what happened on the way home.
Once he closed the door to his room he locked it and began to turn his computer on straight away, immediately peeling off his jacket he winced knowing that it needed to be clean after landing on the floor. That and he really needed to find a way to explain to their friends as to why he was being clumsy on their way home, that and why Myra was being grouchy. Wincing weakly as he changed he sat down at his desk and began to resume studying.
"Come one! Come all and try your hand at a the game of bluff!" A cheerful man with brown hair and green eyes cries loudly with glee as he now attracts people to his mini tent containing a grey haired ruby eyed man with a deck of cards. Yugi and the others blink as they turn to see the pair.
"That's new" Téa said in surprise while Myra stared blankly. Now fully content that she didn't have to bring a lighter and an athame to school, which however resulted in Yugi screaming in terror as he tried to tackle a surprised Maemi who had been holding the item to the floor. Seeing the pair Lily had not been happy and shooed them out before taking the athame off a frowning Myra.
"Yeah, looks cool though" Joey comments with an interested look on his face. Bakura soon looked at Myra who stared at him before shrugging.
"First price for winning will be two hundred yen!" The vendor yelled with a smile knowing that some wouldn't pass up this opportunity to get rich. Myra however raised a brow and almost rolled her eyes at the man's thoughts.
"I'll try" Joey yelled causing Myra to almost whine at his stupidity but kept to herself as she stood between Yugi and Bakura.
"Think he's going to win?" Bakura asked looking curious.
"Who knows" Tristan replied while Téa watched.
"Nooo!" Joey cried as he lost.
"That answers the question" Téa said weakly as the group sighed.
"How could I lose?" Joey asked weakly.
"Let me do it" Tristan said with a grin as he sat down at the table.
"Ten yen please" the vendor said shocking Tristan but did it anyways. "Three tries, guess wrong and you lose" the man warned. Once the cards were shuffled the group watched as the pair started playing.
"Two twos" the man at the table said calmly. Myra soon looked at him before staring at Tristan who didn't respond.
"One three" Tristan placed the card down.
"One nine" the man said.
"Bluff" Tristan called before the man turned the card over which revealed to be a nine.
"What?" Tristan cried.
"Oh too bad, two more tries left" the vendor cried. Looking at his cards Tristan placed on down.
"One two" Tristan said now feeling a little unsettled.
"Bluff" the man said before turning the card over causing Tristan to go pale at how he lost the second try. Myra as she watched twitched and frowned at the display, she soon saw Tristan lose again.
"Man this guy is good" Joey muttered grudgingly as he watched the scene unfold.
"Yeah..." Bakura said now looking worried, Yugi as he watched was left startled at how the man could win so easily.
"Such a shame! Is there no one capable of defeating my champion?" The vendor asked sounding like he was taunting while he smiled at the crowd. Bakura and Yugi soon blinked in surprise as Myra sat down and took out ten yen. Her eyes were cold but focused surprising the group at how willing she was to participate, some people who were watching were soon gossiping about the turn.
"Hey hey young lady, up for an interesting game?" The man asked with a grin but she did not smile surprising him, instead she sat up straighter and had a poised look as she observed him. Placing her notebook beside her she took out her pen and wrote down something before turning it around so he could see.
"Bring it" smirking the man leaned back before shuffling the cards.
"You got guts girl..." his grin grew "I like it"
Very soon the pair held their hands before he placed two cards down.
"Two Queens" he said with a smirk only she didn't bat an eye lash, instead...
"Bluff" was all she wrote before making a flipping gesture which meant he had to turn the cards over. Stunned the man almost choked on his spit while the vendor's brows went wide in shock. Some spectators were left stunned at her reaction time and how she would assume something like that quickly. Looking down shaking the man looked at his cards before picking them up and turned them over to reveal a three and a Jack.
"Would you look at that?!" The vendor yelled in excitement even though shock ran through his veins.
"She's good" Tristan said in awe.
"What I want to know is how she knew" Joey commented.
"Yeah... you and me both" Téa said softly. Bakura and Yugi however were left silent.
"I take it you played against her?" Bakura asked as he noted Yugi's reaction, Yugi looked at him.
"Yeah... it's the only game I can never beat her at" Yugi admitted with a small smile.
"She is good at these types of games, no one seems to be able to bluff without her knowing. Almost as if she is a psychic" Bakura commented. Myra who heard this gave Bakura a 'really?' look before resuming.
"H-How did she-?!" The man looked at her passive face before she wrote something down while covering her hand.
"One ace" Myra wrote calmly and placed her card down. Too calmly for the man's liking, instead of reacting he placed a card down.
"That girl isn't normal, she is too calm but I'll find a way to break that poker face of hers" he muttered mentally as he placed a three down.
"One three" he said while people suddenly went quiet in order to see what the other would do.
"Two nines" Myra wrote as she placed two cards down.
"Bluff! Ha ha nice try girly-HUH?!" The man exclaimed in shock as two nines were now in his hand.
"I think I know how she keeps winning" Yugi said softly catching the attention of his friends.
"How Yug?" Joey asked now looking intrigued. Looking at the man and then at Myra who's face remained calm Yugi looked at Bakura.
"She never bluffs, does she Bakura?" Yugi asked a calm Bakura while the trio turned their heads to Bakura who sighed.
"... You got her" Bakura finally smiled surprising them. However Yugi in a way was not.
"You serious?" Joey yelled.
"Hush!" Tristan and Téa hissed causing to him to smile weakly.
"S-sorry" Joey said with a sheepish smile.
"Bluff" the man yelled with a smirk as he assumed that he had caught her. Taking the cards he turned them over only to gawk as two ones rested in his hands.
"H-how?!" He cried in shock not knowing what to say as he looked at her calm face before she wrote something down.
"Make your move" was her only response as he started to lose his composure. This wasn't right! He was suppose to win! He always won no matter what! So how... how could this nobody of a girl trump him?! Gritting his teeth he placed a card down.
"Two sixes" he said coldly, staring at him she then went to her notebook.
"Bluff" she turned the page to him before making a turn it over gesture. Shaking in anger and shock he picked up the card to reveal a two of hearts.
"And that is strike three! The shining newcomer is the winner!" The vendor cheers while everyone was left with mixed emotions.
"She did it!" Joey yelled before hugging a startled Yugi and a grinning Tristan, Téa smiled while Bakura had a soft but proud smile for doing well.
"And here is your prize money" the vendor grinned as he handed her a bag of money. Myra soon took out one of bills of money that was attached to a strip of paper and observed it, meanwhile the group moved to congratulate her.
"You did it well done-" Joey went pale and froze as Myra not only took out a lighter but had also began to set fire to the bills startling the group while the man opposite her went pale.
"What are you doing?!" The vendor yelled as Myra watched the fire turn green as it continued to burn the money. She soon waved the money in her hand slightly before dropping it on the empty tray beside them and showed the man the new note she wrote.
"Bluff" the man and the vendor went pale before the vendor felt anger fill him.
"Where did you get the lighter?!" Tristan yelled in panic at how she casually lit the money up in such a casual manner.
"Hey I didn't take the athame, and no one said anything about the lighter" Myra commented with a blank look as she shrugged before Yugi took it out of her hands much to her displeasure.
"What is the meaning of this?! Why is there fake money in the bag?" He bellowed in rage before Myra begun to write.
"How can one offer money when he spends it all on gambling debts? Best way to cover ones tracks is to put counterfeit notes in the bag and act like you have nothing to hide, am I right?" The vendor growled and glared at the man at the table.
"You stole my money from me?!" He yelled while Myra took Joey and Tristan's money back and handed it to them.
"It was a one off" the man defended only Myra handed the vendor a note.
"He's been conning you since the beginning due to his gambling addiction. Every earning was swapped when you were away" she added causing more angrily to fill the vendor.
"OUT! GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!" He yelled at the man who was left shocked and angry, his eyes soon went to Myra who gave him a blank stare before walking away.
"You won't get away with this girl! How dare you do this to me!" He screamed in pure anger. "I will make you pay! Mark my words. I will end you"
"I still can't believe you won so easily" Joey said as the group headed over to the game shop. Myra shrugged as she placed her money back in her pocket for safe keeping.
"Yeah it's like you knew what he would do just after he did it" Tristan said with a grin. Myra soon smiled softly at Bakura before he left since his home was to the left of the path they had to take, once he left did she resume walking causing Tristan to blink at how she didn't seem affected by their words.
"I guess it's been a long day huh?" Yugi said before noticing the sun was setting thanks to the colours of the sky.
"Hold it!" Joey yanked Yugi's collar shocking Yugi enough to fall back slightly but kept on his feet to his relief.
"You owe us an explanation for yesterday remember?" Tristan added while folding his arms causing Yugi to smile weakly, he had forgotten about that.
"Well you see... I broke a mirror yesterday and I ended up with bad luck" Yugi commented lamely to his dismay. Myra who heard this frowned causing Yugi to mentally whine at how she could rat him out thanks to her look due to the fact the boys now knew she could tell if he was being honest or not.
"Sounds like you're hiding something" Joey said bluntly as the pair got closer.
"Whatever it is you can tell us" Tristan said looking a little worried, sighing Yugi looked at Myra who shrugged but kept a look out due to the uncomfortable feeling she had gained earlier that day. Even during lunch she felt as if she was being watched to her annoyance but had hoped that she was being paranoid.
"Okay... you see yesterday was Halloween" the pair nodded while looking unsure on where this was going "apparently demons and spirits have been known to cause trouble the whole day until midnight" Yugi admitted weakly. Blinking Myra looked at the pair who stared at him oddly.
"Demons?" Joey asked in a neutral tone.
"And spirits?" Tristan asked looking a little disturbed as Yugi nodded.
"That is the lamest excuse ever Yugi!" Joey snapped "as if they exist, what kind of fools do you take us for?" Joey asked coldly, hearing this Yugi mentally sighed in defeat. This was to be expected, after all no one would believe Myra or his mother so why would his friends believe him? In fact he had hardly told anyone about his other big secret which involved blacking out at odd times.
"I don't" Yugi defended softly before looking away taking his friends by surprise. "It's getting late, see you on Monday" Yugi said while putting on a false smile as he released himself from Joey's hold, once free did he follow Myra home while ignoring Joey's voice.
Myra as the pair walked occasionally looked at him but he gave her a small smile in order to assure her but it crumbled quickly. What could he say? Of course he wasn't okay, his friends now probably wanted nothing to do with him now as they would most likely be thinking that he was some kind of a freak. Not that he could blame them since they couldn't see what he, his mother or Myra could see. It was even more harder at home given that his grandfather didn't have the sight either and as a result was slightly sceptical, however his grandfather had shown some hints that he believes to their relief.
Yugi suddenly snapped out of his thoughts and soon realised that he had stopped walking, now gathering his bearings he soon noticed that soneone was holding his hand to his surprise, looking at the hand he then traced the hand to the familiar school blazer until he could see Myra's sad eyes. Just looking at him she wanted to tell him that it would be okay, sure she found it hard to speak even though it frustrated her occasionally. But she remained patient enough to not throw a tantrum and stomp her foot in anger so they could try to listen. But it was hard when someone doesn't want to see.
Her mouth twitched as she tried to smile a bit more causing Yugi to feel himself wanting to cry but kept his tears from falling, Yugi was left touched by the gesture and soon used his left sleeve in order to rub his eyes as tears started to blur his vision.
"T-thanks Myra" Yugi said before she rolled her eyes and patted his head, she then gave him a thumb up before tilting her head slightly from side to side before looking at where they were suppose to go.
"I'll be okay now, thanks" Yugi said now feeling better than before, exhaling Yugi immediately felt the cooling air enter his lungs allowing him to relax. Now gathering his bearings he nodded sharply before they resumed their route home.
Once home Yugi smiled at Myra before going to his room to continue his study, Myra watched him with mixed emotions as she hoped he would recover soon. This time Yugi wanted to get it perfect.
"So that's why everyone has been tense" Bakura sighed after bidding the group farewell since the others wanted to see how Miho was doing after recovering from the flu.
"Pretty much" Myra shrugged as they walked. So far since yesterday Myra had been feeling a little off, even now she felt like she was being watched causing Bakura to walk her home since Yugi was busy. That and she didn't want him to worry since yesterday's event.
"I feel bad, I know it's hard for you as it is when it comes to seeing spirits and other things. But seeing them out of the blue must have really been unsettling for him" Bakura said with a sad look, Myra nodded before she felt something, soon the unnatural feeling started to grow closer causing her to feel unsettled and scared.
"Myra?" Bakura suddenly jumped as she suddenly twisted his arm and sent him against the nearest wall the moment he touched her hand. "MYRA?!" Bakura was alarmed by how she reacted, her eyes showed she was completely terrified to his shock. Soon realising who it was that caught her attention she relaxed her hold on him before she started to shaking violently. Tears immediately formed in her eyes as she mouthed her apology repeatedly causing him to react. Pulling her into as hug he looked round since Myra was acting completely out of character. What had spooked her this much?
"It's okay, you're okay" Bakura said softly even though it was half true thanks to the Millennium Ring who was suddenly inactive lately, not that he was complaining. Shaking her head she gripped his arms as she tried to compose herself before exhaling mutely. Looking at him weakly she felt ashamed for acting like this, this wasn't like her but she had no one to turn to and her cousin's guardian was back at their home so the woman could not see Myra.
"Come on, let's head home" Bakura said as he removed one of her hands from his arms but kept hold of the other hand in order to assure her that he was here with her.
"Myra are you okay?" Was the first question Solomon asked as he saw her current state. Nodding shaking she walked past Solomon after waving goodbye to Bakura who was now left baffled at how quick she was to entering the house.
"Is she alright?" Solomon asked as he took note of Bakura's worried glance.
"I'm afraid that I don't know, she had been on edge today compared to Halloween" Bakura admitted as he saw her grow anxious during gym. Solomon observed Bakura before nodding.
"Thank you for bringing her home" Solomon bowed as much as he could before entering leaving a worried Bakura to stare at the building.
"I hope she is okay" he said softly before walking away as he grew more uneasy. "She would tell me if something was bothering her... So what would upset her?" He pondered while placing his hands in his pockets.
Myra blinked as she stared at the scene before her, screams of terror and anguish filled her ears as people were cut down or dragged towards a giant cauldron. She grimaced and looked away as the people were forced into the burning item, why... why was she being shown this? It made no sense! She looked at the ground while placing her hands to her ears.
"Mummy... daddy... where is Rui?" A thought entered her ears shocking her. Looking round she saw less children compared to before due to how quick the soldiers caught them. One to her dismay had his throat slit before he was dragged along the floor, but no one cared that he was choking as he was thrown into the cauldron.
"Rui... where did you go? Did they get you too?" A child's voice whimpered in her ears causing tears to run down her face. Where was the child coming from? Where was he? She couldn't find him anywhere.
Lowering her hands as she moved away in order to try and distance herself from the putrid smell she looked at her bare feet, just feeling the cold in a ways left them numb but they were sore from running.
"Why did this happen? Daddy... why would they hurt us? What did we do wrong?" The child cried causing Myra to sink to the floor in hopelessness. What could she do? Those men... They were suppose to be Egyptian soldiers who were loyal to the Pharaoh and they were committing such vile acts, despite her better judgement she turned her head towards to scene once more and watched the liquid turn to gold before it was being poured into something. Biting her lip she stood up and went to look but kept to the shadows. The last thing she wanted was to get caught and suffer for knowing too much.
Her eyes grew wide at seeing golden items being made as they were moulded into seven items. One she knew very well- Yugi's puzzle.
Fear crippled her as she moved away quickly as she felt a dark presence, the last thing she wanted was to die. Especially if it was a dream.
She soon winced and hit the floor after tripping on a loose stone piece of the floor causing her to shiver as what she saw finally began to register with her mind.
"What... What they done?" She wrote on the floor "all these people... What did they do to deserve this?" Myra immediately wrenched and gagged mutely in disgust as she shook her head. Her eyes were squeezed shut as she tried to push the thoughts and images away. Even as she tried to calm down it becomes harder to do while she grips the stone floor in frustration. She soon looks at her hands as they begin to throb in pain before she notices something odd. Her skin was more darker than it should be and her hair... it was white.
Myra's eyes flew open as she mutely gasps for air. Looking round she suddenly notices that she is in the school nurse's room leaving her confused.
"I was sure that I was in class" she wrote before remembering that her eyes had grown tired due to the paranoia of someone following her. Mentally slapping her face she shook her head at her folly. This was going to take a lot of explaining to do...
Myra immediately winced as she remembered what she dreamt about before gripping her arms until there was red lines made by her nails as they dug in slightly.
"You're awake" Bakura's cheerful voice alerted her that she wasn't alone anymore. Blinking she gave him a confused look as he sat down on the chair in front of her bed.
"The teacher was worried that you wouldn't wake up, it was almost as if you were trapped in your sleep and couldn't wake up" Bakura commented softly "the teacher had to carry you to the nurse's office so you could rest since you nearly collapsed on the floor after he tried to wake you up. Did you have a nightmare or something?" He asked with a concerned look. Myra watched him weakly before shrugging slightly only to flinch as images of bloody bodies were littered in front of her, she shook her head slightly in order to push the images away despite how they kept clinging onto her like a virus.
"Something like that" she wrote on the notepad but ignored the slight shakes of her hand as she wrote on the solid surface, she then turned the notepad so she could show it to him. Reading his brows furrowed.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked only to gain a sinking feeling as she shook her head with a glum look, her eyes soon focused on the window to see the sun was starting to set.
"I would like to go home now" she wrote before noticing that the clock now showed that it was four in the afternoon, how did it get to be that late? Sighing at her reluctance to speak about it he nodded.
"Alright, I brought your bag with me just in case" he said while trying to cheer her up, just seeing this however made her smile at the gesture while guilt continued to form. How could she tell him what she saw? It looked like a memory, only it refused to let her escape until it's voice was heard. Who was that boy who's body she had been inhabiting? The whole thing left her more confused and worried, was someone trying to tell her something?
"I guess the lack of sleep is getting to me" she wrote on her hand so Bakura couldn't see, no... no one was going to be dragged into this.
"So what did I miss?" Myra asked him as they walked out of the school gates in order to walk home.
"Well you missed maths" Bakura answered with a wry smile causing her to smirk lightly.
"Woe me" she wrote causing him to laugh as the smirk kept on her face.
"You really hate maths" he shook his head at her antics.
"Anything that would make minds explode" she replied before pocketing her pad into her bag.
"You did worry everyone though, Yugi looked like he was about to leave the class to see how you were" Bakura admitted softly causing her smile to slip slightly.
"Is he at home?" Bakura nodded causing her to relax, she'll see him once she got home. So far as they walked her mind slowly relaxed allowing her to chat with her friend without having to keep her guard up like before.
"Sorry about before... I had this feeling like someone was following me" she admitted with a weak look on her face, however seeing what she wrote left him on edge.
"Do you know who it is?" He asked only to feel fear creep in as she shook her head.
"Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I keep sensing that something isn't right" she added before he placed his hand on her shoulder.
"You're safe, we won't let anyone hurt you" he said with a soft smile "but you should tell the others" she pursed her lips in frustration.
"But what if it is in all my head? If it isn't someone could get hurt, I don't want anyone to be injured because of me" she added, Bakura stared at her anxious look before nodding.
"Okay, I'll keep it quiet for now" he relented to her relief.
"Thank you" she showed him the note while a grateful smile bloomed on her face.
Suddenly the sound of a loud click which Myra recognised was a gun's safety lock entered their ears causing them to turn their heads to face the right leading to an alleyway.
"Do not move or else" said a man's voice as he hisses coldly at the now scared pair. To their shock it was the man who Myra defeated in the card game a few days ago.
"It was him... it was him who has been following me, all this time and I never knew" Myra wrote on the palm her hand in terror as the gun was trained on her, Bakura despite feeling like his legs were shaking noticed that the man was glaring at her with intense hatred that it left him more unsettled. Silently he moved so he was able to stand between them but kept Myra behind him in order to keep her safe much to her dismay, the last thing she wanted was for him to get hurt and this was one of the reasons why.
"Step away from her now boy" the man spat as he gestured for Bakura to move with his gun, however the white haired male refused to budge to the man's anger.
Myra immediately flinched and gripped Bakura's arm as soon as the gun was fired.
"I said MOVE!" The grey haired man yelled "move now or else I will not miss the next time" he added angrily only to narrow his eyes at Bakura who refused to budge.
"Just do it, run Bakura" Myra wrote on his hand causing him to pause and focus on what she was writing, he immediately tensed up from how she was willing to get hurt so he could escape. No he was not going to do that, after all she helped him numerous times so what kind of friend would he be if he left her? Myra hearing his thoughts frowned at his determination but was sure that the man would not be bluffing this time around, he was serious and was out for blood thanks to the loss she handed him. He was not going to let her escape this time around.
Taking a step forward the man kept his gun focused at her causing the pair to take a step back, to their dismay there was no one around to help them.
"I'm warning you boy, step away from the girl. This is between me and her" Myra unconsciously tightened her grip on Bakura's arm alerting him that she was panicking. She had to do something but what?
"I have to do something to get us away from him but what?" Bakura clenched his teeth as fear continued to fill him.
This man the more Myra observed him did not look right and she had no idea of what he would do now given how he was being unpredictable with his actions. Biting her lip even more she was about to move away but silently gasped as Bakura's arm was now being grabbed by the man, however instead of pulling back she allowed Bakura to be shoved to one side and allowed the man to grab her. Frowning she felt the gun being pressed to her head while the man had grabbed one of Myra's arms holding her in place.
"Myra!" Bakura screamed as he rushed to get up only to freeze as the gun clicked again, his eyes grew wide as he started to feel his breathing become uneven. Why was he so useless? How could he allow this to happen? Self loathing filled him as he was left powerless from what was going on.
"Don't even take another step boy or I will blow her brains out, I mean it!" The man yelled loudly causing Bakura to feel more anger fill him, his eyes then turned to Myra who despite being scared was being eerie calm.
"Run" she mouthed silently to his horror.
"No! I am not leaving you-" Bakura grunted as he fell to the floor after dodging the bullet that was aimed at his shoulder only it thankfully had hit some of his long white hair to Myra's relief. Bakura winced as his cheek scraped itself on the gravel but slowly got up, his eyes despite being scared were now growing more angrier.
"I may have lost Emi, but I will not lose Myra too!" Bakura winced from the pain in his cheek and shoulder however he kept his eyes on the pair in front of him. There had to be something he could do, but what?
Myra narrowed her eyes from what she had seen happen to her friend. There was no way she was allowing this to continue, yes using her powers was not good but there were other ways to fight back. Staring at Bakura with stone cold eyes she mouthed 'run' before her eyes narrowed as shock filled him once more, however just as he was about to respond-
"OW!" The man roared in pain as she stomped his foot hard with her right heel before elbowing where the sun didn't shine. Bakura if circumstances had been different would have winced but instead started to run towards Myra who kicked the man's calf muscle and stomped on the hand that held the gun causing the man to scream in agony, however Myra was beyond feeling remorse. This man almost hurt her friend and tried to kill her.
"Myra-" Myra feeling Bakura grab her arm pushed him away with her powers causing him to fall backwards and hit the floor lightly, her hair moved to the left as she immediately gave him a hard look. One that left him horrified at how she was urging him to run and leave her behind.
"Forget about me and run! I can only do so much before he recovers!" She mouthed quickly in anger before kicking the man's stomach in order to weaken the man even more.
"Myra! I can't-!" Bakura paused as he saw her determined look, one he knew meant that he had to trust and do as she asked. Gritting his teeth Bakura nodded before running away from the scene. He had to find help, but where? The only place he could think of was the game shop Yugi's grandfather owned. If anyone could get proper help it was Yugi's family. Now with a destination in mind he dashed towards the shop, his heart as he ran continued to tighten from knowing that he left her behind and once again he had been powerless to save someone.
Suddenly there was a loud gun shot which rang in his ears as he ran, his eyes soon began to water as he feared what could have happened.
"No! No I won't believe it until I see her. She is not dead! She can't be!" Bakura berated himself for thinking the worst. Rubbing his eyes as he ran Bakura soon fell to the ground when he suddenly collided with Yugi who had been sweeping outside.
"Bakura? What's wrong are you okay?" Yugi asked as he noticed how frantic Bakura was. He looked as if he'd seen a ghost to Yugi's shock.
"I need help!" Bakura cried as he got up, he winced from the pain in his shoulder as he started to panic now that the shock was taking over "Myra! The man she exposed a few days ago has her!" Bakura explained quickly, Yugi's face went pale before looking at his house.
"Where did is she?" Yugi asked as worry entered him.
"We need the police Yugi! He has a gun!" Bakura cried filling Yugi with dread at the fact Myra was in danger.
"What is going on around here? I can hear you both screaming outside" Lily as she rushed out the shop with a hard look, seeing Lily Bakura felt himself grow more sick with guilt confusing the woman.
"There's a man with a gun, he has Myra but she... she told me to run" Bakura cried, Lily went pale as Bakura explained what had happened including the part where Myra had suspected that someone was stalking her. Yugi hearing this felt sick as he remembered her not wanting to leave the group and had acted like she was on edge. Something he should have picked up on but he hadn't to his dismay. Lily as she listened covered her mouth with her left hand and felt tears run down her face.
"Get inside" she said sternly after he finished. " We will let the police handle this, we can't do anything at the moment" Yugi gave his mother a bewildered look, how could she just say that? Myra was in danger so why was she just calling the police?
"But mum-!"
"No buts Yugi this man has a gun! Clearly he is unstable and if we provoke him anymore without a plan she will die" Lily warned sternly. Yugi however refused to back down, instead he spotted Essy standing with his back to them from the direction of where Bakura had run from. Narrowing his eyes the cat nodded firmly before taking off, Yugi realising what Essy was up to frowned and stared at his mother who had led Bakura inside.
"Yugi come inside now" Lily ordered only Yugi refused, instead to her horror he ran after Essy causing her to scream his name.
"Foolish boy!" Lily screamed as she ran inside, once at the counter she grabbed the phone and immediately dialled the police but kept her eyes on Bakura so he couldn't run after Yugi to his dismay.
"Such a shame... I would have loved to see the outcome" the dark spirit of the ring cooed as a cruel smile creeped on to his face causing Bakura to shudder at the thoughts invading his mind, Lily who was on the floor turned to give the dark spirit who was looking through Bakura's eyes a very dirty angry look that showed she would murder him for the comment.
"You will do well to bite your tongue dark spirit and if Bakura takes on step out because of you, there will be no one alive that will be able to stop me from doing such unspeakable things to you" Lily spoke in a very dark tone that unsettled Bakura and the spirit. However Bakura felt some relief at how Lily could make the spirit retreat, seeing his reaction Lily sighed heavily and shook her head. Her lips now pursed before hearing the man on the phone.
"Go upstairs and sit down, tell my father nothing until the pair have returned" Lily said in a tone that meant end of discussion. Slowly he walked upstairs almost feeling like his limbs were heavy due to what transpired.
Yugi chased after Essy who immediately bound a corner, his lungs were burning but he cared not. How could he when Myra was in danger?
Once he saw Essy stop and stare at a disturbed part of a alleyway the cat then looked at him with a frown. Nodding sharply the purple feline watched Yugi observe the area until he spotted a piece of paper that was trapped under a lid, normally he wouldn't be curious about such an item but it looked like a page that had been torn from Myra's book. So when he approached the lid and pulled it up his eyes widened as the paper began to glow before taking the shape of a bird. It fluttered to his hand and stared at him until it's body became translucent leaving only the paper behind. Blinking Yugi unfolded the paper, a gasp left his lips at the details of a building and the address.
"She's in one of the abandoned warehouses by the factories" Yugi said to Essy who looked side to side. Closing his eyes Essy tried to pin point where Myra's aura was now that they had a brief idea of where she was. The paper immediately glowed once more snapping Essy out of his concentration, the pair watched as the paper transformed itself into a bird once more before flying to the opposite direction Yugi had entered. A hollow cry left it's lips as it flew with the destination embedded within it's mind. Yugi feeling that the bird was leading them chased after it while Essy followed in pursuit, however the feline kept a look out for anyone who could attack them.
To Yugi's relief they arrived at the abandoned warehouse which looked like it had seen better days due to how damaged parts of the building was.
"Sit down there!" The man yelled as he shoved a tired but injured Myra who was limping due to twisting her ankle which had occurred after she tried to flee. She winced as the metal table hit her front including her rips when she was pushed towards the one of two chairs. The man then sat down the opposite chair so he was facing her but holding the gun tightly with his injured hand he glared at her.
"Now you and I will be playing a little game you little cheat" Myra blinked in surprise at what he had in mind.
"Wait did he call me a cheat?!" Myra almost flashed him an offended look but refrained as it could bring about an unfavourable result. Something she was not determined to introduce.
"If you win fairly this time I will let you go but if you lose or cheat-" Myra flinched as the gun's noise vibrated in the room before the bullet went past her ear. Her body tensed up as she paled at how the situation was getting out of control.
"I won't hesitate to shoot" he hissed before grabbing a deck of cards out of his pocket and began to place them on the table. Blinking she looked at him before reaching for her bag.
BANG!
Myra immediately moved her head down and flinched as the bullet hit the table near her hand.
"Don't even think about moving, do you think I would allow you to try anything funny?" He snapped angrily as she moved her head up in order in order to look at him.
"Well?" He barked but she gave him a weak look as she shrugged slightly. This made him twitch at how she was disrespecting him with her silence.
"What got nothing to say you cheat? It's because of you I have nothing left! I was a master of bluffing, I could beat anyone and no one would know what I was truly capable of" he said with venom in his tone "only just when I think I could leave you ruined me, you had to reveal I had swapped the real notes with fakes! I was just about to get out of my debt but you took everything from me and now..." She tensed up as the gun clicked "I'm going to take everything from you, starting with your life if you either lose or cheat again" he vowed lowly. Myra immediately shook her head before signing.
"But I didn't cheat! I just know how to play the game" she signed frantically while her expression showed that she being honest despite being scared. The man scoffed as he watched her.
"What are you doing huh? Speak if you are innocent, that is if you can" Myra stared at him feeling dread and grief fill her. She wanted to leave, but she couldn't use her powers. She had done the best she could in leaving clues but who knows how long before her time was up?
Yugi climbed the ladder until he was on the first floor which would allow him to see the ground floor. So far nothing was out of place but he kept his ears and eyes open, part of him was thankful that he wasn't alone and that Essy Myra's cat was helped him. Even her cat couldn't shake the worry out of him but Yugi tried to remain calm.
"Maybe coming alone wasn't such a bright idea" Yugi grimaced weakly as he now took the time to think of a plan, after all the man had a gun and what did Yugi have?
BANG!
Yugi jumped from the sound of the noise while Essy shot a look at where the noise originated from, not wasting time the purple feline dashed towards where the noise came from causing Yugi to snap out of his daze and run after Essy.
"W-wait Essy, we could-"
BANG!
Yugi went silent and stared at the cat who had the same worry etched on his face. Without saying anything the pair now ran towards the source of the fire only to stop and silently walk as they heard a man ranting.
"What nothing to say?! What is with all the gestures? Speak you cheat! You have a mouth so use it!" He yelled at Myra who was trying not to shake, horrified Yugi he peeked over the edge that would allow him to see the floor below. Seeing Myra in the state that she was in left him wondering what else the man had done to her. Gulping he was about to move only to flinch as a bullet almost hit his hand.
"Who's there? Show yourself!" The man ordered looking more ruffled, his eyes were wild and looked more dangerous to Myra's dismay. Yugi saw Essy tense up and look at the shaken boy who had no choice but to show himself.
"Did you use your phone to get help you brat?!" The man yelled as he stood up and was about to hit Myra.
"Leave her alone!" Yugi screamed as he spotted stairs that would lead him to the pair. Not wasting time he ran down the stairs and was about to go to Myra in order to help her.
BANG!
Yugi nearly fell to the floor as the bullet almost hit a crate to his left, frozen he stared at them before the man glared at her.
"You little cheek! You got help didn't you?" The man yelled as he grabbed Myra's neck just below the chin and hoisted her up causing her to mutely scream in panic before feeling the air leave her body. "I should have killed that boy when I had the chance" he added as he tightened his grip leaving Myra gripping his arm in order to try and free herself.
"She didn't get help! I followed her here" Yugi cried as he tried to get the man to release Myra only to feel pain in his side as the man kicked him causing the boy to crumble. Myra's eyes went wide from what she witnessed.
"Liars... all of you! Do you take me for a fool?" The man asked as she tried to free herself from his grasp.
"She can't even speak, she didn't do anything wrong" Yugi said loudly before flinching as the man fired the gun near Yugi's head.
"Liar! She has a mouth, she can speak!" The man yelled before she shook her head. Scowling the man sent her to the floor. "Get up, we're resuming the game" the man hissed coldly before taking his seat.
"Myra..." Yugi watched her gasp for air while coughing before slowly getting up, after sitting she shakily grabbed her cards.
"Three twos" the man said before sending three cards on to the small pile. Looking at him fearfully she didn't respond, instead she placed a card down onto the pile.
"Well? What did you put down?" He snapped now getting agitated once more, Myra soon showed him two fingers before changing it to one only that didn't sit well with the man.
"SPEAK!" The man yelled as he fired the gun near her ear causing a few strands of her hair to singe.
"MYRA!" Yugi screamed before slowly getting up.
"Don't you dare move!" The man yelled but Yugi didn't listen.
"She can't speak, it's not that she won't sir. If you just let her write what she wants to say-"
"Like hell I am going to listen to you!" The man yelled as he fired the gun near the pair, Myra soon gave Yugi a look that had him feeling guilty since there was nothing he could do. "She will cheat! I know she will so why should I allow her to?" He snapped before placing a card down.
"One five" the man said lowly, Myra chancing it waved her hand in a swiping motion and turned the card over revealing it to be a two. Growling the man slammed his free hand on the table causing them to flinch.
"You cheated! Stop cheating!" He yelled at her. Looking at Yugi weakly she showed him one finger before adding three more. If she couldn't use her notepad then at least he could speak, realising what she was trying to say he nodded.
"She's putting down one three" Yugi commented as she placed a card down only to flinch and bite her bottom lip as the bullet grazed the back her hand causing blood to show. Sneering the man glared at them.
"Getting help from someone? This is between you and me so don't go looking at him for help, otherwise you both die" the man warned causing her to go cold from fear. Yugi saw Myra go pale before placing as hand on her shoulder, looking at him with worry she is left stunned at how he was smiling even if it was a small smile. However what shocked her the most was when he lifted his hands up and started to sign something but slowly.
"Relax Myra" Yugi smiled as he gave Myra an encouraging look, weary she stared at him for a bit before nodding slightly. There had to be a way out of this but what?
"When did Yugi learn to how to sign? I guess if we do live I'll ask him, but how do I deal with this? There seems to be no way for me to win this" She used her free hand to write on her leg but made it seem like she was scratching it. Biting inside her cheek she then looks at her hand before hearing the man put a card down. Knowing that she couldn't call him out on his bluffs she placed a card down, to her dismay the bullet sliced through the end of the blazer and grazed her arm.
"Speak already!" He bellowed now losing his temper once again. Not caring if the cards would get soiled she gripped her injured arm before giving him a withered look. Grazed or not the injury burned and left her shaking even more. Yugi as he was forced to watch felt his eyes grow wide, his mouth parted a bit allowing a horrified gasp to leave his lips.
"Myra..." Yugi looked at the man as he started to shake in fear for her.
"What card did you put down?!" The man yelled now slamming his fist on the table. Looking up at the man she bit her lip before letting her injured arm move and showed him a five and two.
"One seven?" Yugi asked shakily, turning her eyes to Yugi Myra nodded only to mutely cry as her other arm was shot, without meaning to she dropped her cards as she instinctively grabs her other injured spot.
"Stop helping! Or else I will shoot again" the man warned while his voice went a little higher as he glared at them. "Make your move, I put down two eights" Unfortunately Myra felt her limbs were hurting too much for her to lift the cards off the floor, seeing this Yugi immediately went down to pick them up and placed them on the table for Myra to get. His heart nearly broke at how much blood was now showing on the newly injured arm that as she slowly reached for the cards the backs immediately became stained. She bit her lower lip as she placed the far left card onto the pile and mouthed 'one ten'
"What did you say? Speak up you brat-!"
"My... what an annoying fool" someone said in a calm but cold nasal like voice. The man's eyes immediately went wide as he now saw that Myra and Yugi had suddenly became not just older but taller as well. Myra leaned her head on her right hand while her eyes showed how she was bored and yet annoyed when she eyes the man with contempt. The older Yugi however folded his arms and narrowed his eyes.
"Shooting a mute? You really are an unstable fool, don't tell me you forgot to take your pills or is this going to happen every time you lose to someone" she asked in a frosty voice that had the man now shaking in fear. H-how did they suddenly change like that?
"I-I knew you could speak! I just knew it! You cheated!" The man stutters violently.
"Oh bite your tongue!" Myra said in a sharp tone that sillences the man to Yugi's surprise. This was not the same Myra he knew and yet he was sure he had met her a few times. One of them had been at school when Téa had been drugged.
"Now I am in a very cranky mood because of your nonstop whining about how I cheated. Me a cheat? You have a lot of nerve" she said darkly as she scowled darkly at him.
"Not only that but you injured and kidnapped the one who defeated you, why? All for a game because you cannot accept a loss" Yugi said before grabbing a crate and took a seat beside her, Myra raised a brow at him but did nothing except watch.
"What's your point? She cheated! I know she did and nothing you can say will change my mind!" The man almost stammered as he saw Myra's disapproving look but kept calm.
"So how about we play a game if you feel like your honor has been damaged that much?" Yugi asked with a grin which now appeared on his face.
"A game? Do you think that this is funny? You really think that you can mock me? Because last time I checked I have you both hostage and I have a gun in my possession" The man yelled as his face went red from anger.
"Oh no sir, I wouldn't dare dream of mocking you. I was thinking of a special game that would involve us playing on equal grounds" Yugi replied with a shrug, he mentally smirked at how the man was playing into his hands but didn't show it. However Myra frowned but kept observing with a vexed look on her face, who did he think he was? Oh she gets hurt and then he suddenly shows up acting all this and that?! Like some flaming knight in shining armour? Where was he when the girl had was being attacked? Sleeping?!
"And what type of game are you suggesting?" The man asked stiffly but didn't allow his face to show that he was interested despite his eyes being a tell tell sign.
"Gotcha" Yugi mentally smirked.
"A shadow game" Yugi replied calmly.
"A shadow game? What is that?" The man now looked puzzled from the name of the game.
"A game which involved putting your life on the line" Yugi replied in a tone would suggest he was talking about the weather.
"Excuse me! But he challenged me in case you've forgotten" Myra said sharply while placing her hand on Yugi's causing him to look at her in shock. "Who am I to deny such a request? That is unless you think that I am too weak to defend myself?" She asked while raising her brow at him, daring him to get involved with their game after what she had to put up with. She had been the one who was hurt and accused, this was her fight and no one! No one was going to brush her to one side just so they could come in and play the hero! No she was no damsel in distress, she will play and she would win. She knew how to play and she knew how to bite back against brutes.
Yugi stared at her before biting the inside of his cheek. Myra seeing this as a sign that he was going to back off nodded before smiling at the man who was left baffled by what he was seeing. They acted so different compared to before which left him wondering who they truly were. Myra now smirked as she moved her head to face the man causing her long black hair to move onto her back.
"I will take up his offer on challenging you to a Shadow Game, however my choice would be Black Jack. A game I find amusing as it is based on luck" she added with a smirk. Blinking both males were left startled by her choice of game.
"But have you-?"
"I played enough" Myra said sharply cutting Yugi off from speaking, her eyes were hard and full of anger which surprised him enough to close his mouth and watch silently.
"Like hell will I allow myself be a damsel in distress!" She snapped mentally but kept herself calm.
"Do you know the rules of Black Jack?" She asked while taking the cards and began to shuffle then quickly. "No jokers are allowed, black jacks mean picking up five cards where as reds cancel them out. If you put down a two I pick up two, ace changes suits, king reverses so instead of going left we then go right when it comes to turns, queens follow their own suit, eight skips gos, if you don't have the card to match the one on the pile you will have to pick up until you get one and play so yeah that's about it. Any questions?" She asked with a sly smirk, this made the man narrow his eyes.
"Do you think that this would make me that you are no going to cheat? How do I know you won't have a card in your sleeve?" He spat causing her to stop shuffling, soon the air grew cold and tense thanks to her furious glare.
"Be careful with who you are speaking to" she warned in a frosty tone that left the hairs on the males' standing on their ends. "One thing I do NOT tolerate is dishonesty or those who have no morals. People like you who think that just because you lost to someone who could see tell tell signs of a buffer, you think that you have the right to hurt them instead of losing gracefully. When you lie and deceive it will be found out. Something I sought to do for a cheat like you-" she said darkly.
"ENOUGH!" The man roared in anger as he aimed his gun at her only it didn't fire but instead released a clicking noise. Glaring at him she kept a calm composure despite what had happened.
"Can't accept the truth? Figures..." she looks at her cards before dealing "men like you are what make me sick" she added venomously earning her an angry yell from the man before it was silenced by her look.
"My father was a drunk after my mother was murdered" she said blankly as she placed a card on her pile "he would always beat me because I reminded him heavily of her. The one who was forced out of our lives, he would beat me even after I had passed out and no one could stop him... not even my elder sister or sick brother. Instead my second brother would just mock and jeer before leaving me to rot" Yugi immediately grew sick from her words but kept himself in check, instead his hands were clenched under the table but Myra from the corner of her eye saw that his sleeves were strained which allowed her to notice that he was holding back. However she kept her blank composure while the man watched.
"I never hated rather... I pitied the fool, at times I did resent him for his actions. I had always wondered why me until he finally sorted himself out but the scars... they never left. They were fused to my body and will always be a reminder to everyone including him, he no matter what would be forced to relive and endure the consequences of his actions... nothing he could ever do will ever undo the damage and he knows that he is beyond redemption" she added before placing the deck on the side, took the top card from the deck and placed it between them.
"Let's begin shall we?" She said before placing a two of spades on top of the first card "and with that you pick up two" Myra said calmly. Her mind now ignoring Yugi as she focused on the game.
"Pick up four" the man snapped as he placed a two of hearts down causing her to smirk.
"Pick up six" she soon placed the two of spades card down to his horror, Yugi blinked in surprise at the two cards that she once held. Growling the man did as instructed before placing a six of spades down. The man then silently placed a four of spades and a four of hearts while seething in anger at how she only had five cards out of the eight they had started with whereas he had more from being careless. Raising a brow Myra soon placed a four of clubs and watched the man stare at it for a few seconds before placing an ace of hearts.
"I will change it to diamonds" he said causing her to shrug.
"Very well, pick up two" she added in a silky voice that grated on his nerves while Yugi continued to watch with a semi anxious look but refrained himself due to her giving him a look.
"You did tell me to relax Yugi, so follow your own advice" she added causing him to wince but smirk in reply. The man almost snapped at how he was being ignored but held his tongue. Instead he changed the suits to spades, seeing this Myra placed a five of spades, a four of spades and a four of hearts. It was then the room went deathly silent as she folded her arms and smirked deviously at the now stunned pair.
"Awww did I win?" She said in a baby like mocking tone that had the man shooting up in anger, Myra soon watched him flip the table sideways causing Yugi to dodge as it almost hit him.
"How-how did you-?"
"Win?" She asked blankly "well the cards when they were being dealt decided on the person's heart. That and I knew how to play, it was rather fun to see you squirm. But at least you didn't burst a blood vessel like I predicted that you might, now that would have been silly" she added slyly, hearing her words left him more angry.
"I will kill you!" The man yelled only before he could shoot her he froze from her stone cold glare.
"Unable to bow down gracefully... well, it seems you will be enduring the consequences" she commented while shrugging. Suddenly the man started to scream in agony as light surrounded him taking Yugi by surprise as he watched, he soon took a look at Myra's expression to see her appearing calm and collective. Almost as if this didn't bother her. Very soon the man's limbs started to shake wildly before he dropped the gun as he lost his grip before convulsing until some of his limbs curled up to the point that when the light covered him completely... he vanished to Yugi's shock.
"Divine punishment, for someone who's heart is unbalanced. A punishment that is harsh but fair, one that the Shadow Games can often provide am I right?" Myra asked calmly before turning her head to look at him.
"Where did he go?" Yugi asked while his voice tried not to shake despite being curious. Seeing his reaction she smiled softly leaving him more curious.
"To a mental hospital, once he arrives he'll confess... it will be too much for him to keep a secret" she added with a wry smile that left him startled.
"I... I never expected you go do that" he admitted.
"Mercy and compassion are important traits Yugi, remember that" she said as she stood up and observed her blazer sleeves, seeing the torn and damaged bits she grimaced. "This is going to be fun to explain" she mutters dryly before pushing her hair over her left shoulder.
"Does it still hurt?" Yugi asked looking concerned given that she was moving despite the injuries. Looking at him she smiled softly as he stood by her in case she stumbled.
"I'm a fast healer" Myra replied warmly at the gesture. "So I hear you play Shadow Games, why?" Hearing this took him by surprise.
"I-to punish those who do wrong" Yugi replied while trying to recompose himself from the question. Seeing this she observed him for a few seconds before nodding.
"I see... So given what I did should I be punished?" She asked with a raised brow, immediately he shook his head.
"You were defending yourself"
"And in a manner he was defending his honour thanks to how badly I had humiliated him" she commented dryly as she frowned at his response, hearing her words he faltered "yes he was a liar and a cheat but acting like that makes me no better than him-"
"But you are better than him!" Yugi yelled as he placed his hands on her arms causing her to pause. "You didn't have a gun, you could have hurt him back but you walked away that day. You were only defending yourself" he added before faltering. "Compared to how you dealt with that man at the burger joint, if it weren't for me he would have been dead. Would you have lived with that?" She asked coldly leaving him frozen to the spot as memories of that day hit him like a ton of bricks, seeing her reaction made him look away in shame.
"If it weren't for me what happened at the joint would have happened here, think about that" she added sharply, Yugi's head went down as shame continued to fill his mind.
"I'm... I'm sorry" he said sombrely causing her to tilt her head while a sad smile formed on her face, soon she slips her hand in his before squeezing it slightly.
"Enough dismal feelings, what's done is done" she added before releasing a brief chuckle. "Now, let's play a game only there is no life at stake... only we do one thing for the other" she added while she placed her free index finger to her lips, a playful smile formed on her face as she looks at his surprised expression.
"You... want to play such a game?" He asked almost sounding breathless at how she could be interested in playing such a dangerous game. Smiling she tapped his nose before moving back to see his face grow red, Yugi shuffled slightly as he looked away with a sheepish look on his face.
"Cute" she mused as her smile grew.
"Don't tell me you're too scared to play" Myra teases playfully causing his eyes to flash for a bit, something she was sure was a mixture of amusement and from feeling the thrill of a challenge.
"What game do you have in mind?" Yugi asked before she smirked and clicked her fingers. In a flash of light the area changed to a scene Yugi was familiar with.
"This is-?!" Yugi looked round before seeing a rope being tied round his waist.
"Did you see me challenge Tetsu to a Shadow Game?" Yugi asked as Myra in surprise while she appeared beside him, suddenly he lurched forwards thanks to how she fell leaving him winded.
"I saw you after teaching some naughty girls a lesson about what happens when you try to end the lives of people they don't like" she replied brightly before seeing the long line of cards.
"I figured this would be a fun since it revolves around luck, interesting no?" A smirk appeared on Yugi's face at what the game would have in store now.
"Let's begin" Yugi agreed before taking out a card from the line, his mouth parted in shock as he gawked at what he picked up.
"Hey what's wrong?" Myra asked before peeking over, her eyes lit up as she released a loud laugh at how the first round involved him picking up a Joker. Eyeing her weakly a chuckle left his lips.
"Looks like someone's telling you not to get cocky" she said with a playful smile before eyeing the card she now picked up "ten of hearts" she said before going up causing a smirking Yugi to be moved down ten spaces. Looking at the line he picked the middle.
"King of spades" Yugi commented, smirking Myra shrugged as she allowed herself to dangle while he went up.
"Ace of clubs" Myra said before Yugi flashed her a shocked look, she then went up and waved at him with a mocking smile that had him unsure on whether to smirk of scowl at the insult.
"Five of hearts" Yugi revealed before going up.
"Queen of spades" Yugi almost cried out in shock as she went up and was now a third up to the goal. However he soon took a deep breath in order to compose himself and picked up a card.
"King of Diamonds" Yugi said now feeling some luck was heading his way.
"Daaw, so mean" she jokes playfully earning her a laugh from Yugi who went up. Once he was finished she closed her eyes and picked up a card.
"Ace of Diamonds" she said before opening her eyes to see the card in her hand. Yugi's smile vanished as she got up once more leaving him to stare. "You had better not be looking up my skirt" she said sharply earning her a horrified look while his face went red.
"Why would I want to look-?" he looked at the card he was about to pick up in order to avoid looking up, his eyes went wide as he saw a Joker once again was in his hand.
"What's wrong?" She asked causing up to look at her shakily, moving to an angle Myra's eyes soon lit up while a laugh left her lips from seeing what card was in his hand. "Again? What happened?" She asked with mirth in her eyes while he gave her a weak look from the response. She then took a card and blinked.
"Joker..." she shrugged in a nonchalant manner now leaving him surprised at how she wouldn't react to missing a go.
"Three...of clubs" Yugi's voice trailed off as he saw the low levelled card.
"Hmm?" Myra tilted her head "getting bad luck all of a sudden?" She asked before taking a card that was in front of her, Myra soon released a brief sigh before looking at Yugi who was left baffled by her reaction.
"Queen of Hearts, I win" Myra commented softly "shame... I wanted to play longer" she admitted before the area changed back into the interior room of the warehouse.
"It was a good game" she smiled at Yugi who felt disappointed by the loss, he immediately tensed up before looking at her sad smile. "We should play again sometime in the future" she commented brightly leaving him more stunned by her words, not trusting himself to speak he nodded slowly.
"Great" Myra beamed before looking away for a bit, "so I guess that means you have to do something for me since I won" she mused a bit as she placed a finger to her lips while thinking of something. Yugi blinked as he remembered the stakes.
"So... what do you want me to do?" Yugi asked only to freeze as Myra not only went on her tip toes slightly but had pecked the side of his mouth for a few seconds, pulling back she looks at him with mirth in her eyes.
"Well that was worth the win" she says with a cheeky smile before turning her back to him and began to walk away. Gawking at what she had done Yugi stuttered while his face went beet red before realising that she leaving.
"W-Wait!" Yugi called out as he ran after her.
"Myra Yugi you're both okay!" Solomon cried in relief as Lily and Bakura ran towards the trio, Lily immediately pulled Yugi into a hug before slapping his face causing him to wince from the force.
"Don't you ever pull that stunt on me again! What if you didn't come back...? If you died then I would never have forgiven myself" Lily cried with a look of despair filling her as she placed her hands on his face, Yugi bit his lip as his heart went out to his mother and felt immense guilt for making them worry.
"S-sorry mother, I just couldn't stand there and wait for help" Yugi said weakly. Lily released a huff before blinking as she saw Bakura hugging a sheepish Myra who like Bakura was crying.
"I'm so sorry I couldn't stop him, I couldn't save you and-" Myra patted his arm and shook her head softly, grabbing her notepad and pen after pulling away she showed him her note.
"Do not blame yourself for what is not your fault, he was mentally unstable to begin with and if you died because of me I would be very upset with you" Bakura choked lightly on a laugh as he sobbed from seeing her bland look and knew that she was serious.
"Just try to keep away from danger and tell us next time please, I lost my sister Myra... I don't want to lose you, you're like a sister to me" Bakura replied in a low voice as the adrenaline finally leaving him more tired, a relieved smile formed on her lips as she nodded before writing the word 'deal' on her notebook. Yugi watched as a smile also formed on his face at how the pair acted and finally relaxed from now understanding why the pair were so close.
"To think I overreacted, but why was I acting like this anyways? That isn't like me at all" Yugi mused before blinking at Myra who was frowning at Yugi, she then tapped her head and then her ear causing him to go pale.
"Oops" Yugi released a sheepish smile before she shook her head, Myra then turned to look at Bakura while Yugi's mother glared and flicked a now cringing Yugi's ear before he rubbed it.
"Yugi..." Lily said in a warning tone that had the group looking at him, very soon Solomon laughed at the response causing them to join in.
"I'm going to call the police, in the meantime you two. Go to bed now" Lily ordered "oh and Myra I want to see where you got hurt" she added in a stern tone, nodding Myra went upstairs to Lily's room and peeled off her blazer to see blood and tears caused by the bullets. Biting her lip she was about to unbutton her shirt before the door opened causing her to look and pass as Yugi entered. The pair went quiet and stared at the other before Yugi finally moved his eyes to the blood stained sleeves.
"Does it hurt?" Yugi asked softly as she looked at him, pursing her lips until they were leaning on the right she shook her head. She paused as she remembered her notepad was on the floor and went to get it before Yugi rushed inside the room to help only to wince as they bumped heads.
"Ow..." Yugi winced while they rubbed their own heads from the injury, their eyes soon met even as Myra moved back until she sat properly on the floor since kneeling was leaving her legs feeling pins and needles.
"Um Myra..." Yugi pauses for a bit before looking at her. "What happened back at the warehouse? I was sure you were still playing and then suddenly we were near the house" Yugi asked as he grew anxious at the fact he had blacked out once again, blinking Myra looked at him before removing her hand from her head. Spying her notebook she began to write.
"To be honest all I remember was pain and then being lulled into a deep sleep. Almost as if someone had taken over" Myra admitted with a blank look, she paused as she saw Yugi go pale and shake slightly leaving her confused as to why he was acting like this.
"What's wrong?" Myra asked as she placed her hand on his arm only to feel the shakes grow.
"Please don't tell anyone" Yugi pleaded softly but in a panicked voice "But..." his shoulders slump in defeat but Myra remained calm and stared at him.
"I won't judge" she added with a smile that left him slowly relaxing but the anxious feeling lingered.
"I... I have been having black outs ever since I finished the puzzle" Myra blinked but remained still signalling him to continue "when the bully had hurt Joey and Tristan, I had finished the puzzle but I couldn't remember what happened after that. Then there was one time when we were at Burger World when that manager had Téa at gun point, all I remembered back then was that he hit Téa before blacking out" Yugi confessed as he kept his eyes low thanks to the feeling that something was wrong and the thought of her judging him made him more uneasy. Slowly he soon heard a pen scratching on something but didn't look up until she tapped his shoulder.
"I had black outs as well, only they were because a spirit was possessing my body" Yugi's blood immediately went cold from her words before looking at her reaction, only instead of fear she was calm. Too calm for his liking.
"Doesn't that scare you?" Yugi asked, pausing Myra pondered for a bit before she shook her head.
"I trust the spirit, she actually healed my injuries when we were at the warehouse. She told me that she sent him to a mental hospital" Myra replied with a small smile as she saw his reaction.
"Besides some people like me can get possessed if we allow it, I had training when I was younger so I am use to it" Myra added but frowned as she sensed his mood become low.
"I didn't, nor did I know that this was going to happen. I didn't ask to have a spirit possess me" Myra smiled before holding his hand.
"True but the spirit has saved us a lot right? Plus I feel no evil so the spirit must be good right?" She added now smiling a bit more, Yugi processed her words before he finally released a soft smile.
"Yeah... thank you for listening Myra" he said with a grateful smile causing her to beam knowing he was feeling better.
"So when did you decide to do sign language? I never knew you could do it" Myra commented now no longer beating about the bush after what she saw back at the warehouse, Yugi released a loud laugh as she gave him a look that was between a smirk and a frown.
"I um... you know how I was staying up all those nights?" Yugi asked shyly, she nodded in reply "well you see... I was online trying to learn how to do sign language so we can communicate better. It was suppose to be a surprise for your birthday but things kept happening and all that" Myra's expression changed from being suspicious to stunned at what he was telling her.
"I learned a few things but not enough to form a sentence" he admitted weakly before seeing her shake her head and smiling. Placing her fingers to her lips she moved them away causing his eyes to light up as he recognised that gesture as 'thank you'
"You goof! You had us all worried since exams are later in the year" she commented before placing her hands on her hips while he held the book in order to read, the smile grew as they released a laugh only Myra's was a mute laugh but the joy was still present in her eyes.
"S-sorry I did want to surprise you" Yugi confessed.
"You definitely did, why didn't you ask me? I can help, after all it at least let's me feel a bit more useful around the house" Myra admitted as she looked away weakly however her words shocked him before remembering that not being able to speak would be an issue.
"I didn't know" Yugi said as guilt entered since he knew that school was already challenging enough as it was but adding a problem of neither being hearing, seeing or talking made him wince. "Do you think you can teach me how to do sign language properly?" Yugi asked only to release a small chuckle as she nodded with a smile on her face, Yugi immediately did the thank you sign causing them to laugh a bit more before they paused from hearing Lily clear her throat. Turning to look at the door they saw Lily looking amused.
"Yugi... didn't I tell you to go to bed?" Lily asked with a smile, nodding he bid the pair good night before rushing to get ready in his room. Giggling Lily shook her head before tending to Myra only to purse her lips at the damage.
"I spoke to the police, they'll be here tomorrow for questioning" Lily explained as she helped take the shirt off to see blood covering the arm.
"Honestly, this is why I worry Myra. You were very lucky he didn't kill you but I am surprised Yugi would do something reckless like that" Lily mused with a sigh before blinking as Myra wrote something.
"Yugi said he had a blackout, it could be a spirit but we don't know where the spirit came from" Lily went pale and blanched at her words before looking at Myra.
"Is... how?" Lily asked but checked to see if anyone was at the door only to sigh as the door was locked.
"Yugi said once he solved the puzzle he blacked out" Myra looked at Lily who groaned and placed a hand to her face but cared not if blood was touching her.
"Unbelieveable... a spirit no two spirits are living in this house, what is this world coming to?" She sighed heavily before wiping the blood using wet wipes.
"Good thing is that you're healed, the spirit must have done that so you just need to go sleep and don't worry about school. I will explain to them you both are too sick to go" Lily explained, smiling Myra nodded before taking the shirt and blazer off the ground. Once they were in her arms she left to her room but was thankful she was wearing a black vest for various reasons, the cold being one of the reasons.
Once in her room she closed the door and placed the clothes on top of the draw before changing for bed.
As expected the pair were interrogated by the police for a few hours given the evidence and fact Myra had to write everything down due to being unable to speak. As expected Yugi had been told off for endangering himself, not that he was complaining. If anything he would do it again in a heartbeat if he had to choose.
"Oh and before I forget, we had as call from Domino Mental Wing. They mentioned a man with the description you have told us, he entered the building and immediately confessing to what he had done" this took the group by surprise at how easily he confessed. "Thankfully with the stories collaborating with each other so we can now put him away" the officer explained before they left. Curious the family looked at the other as they remained baffled by the whole event.
"I'm glad that that's over" Solomon said before sighing as he sat down with tea in his hands. Raising a brow Lily gave him a look before gesturing to the cup causing him to hand it over to her before he could take a sip, he soon heard a low growl from her causing Yugi and Myra to smile.
"So what will you two be doing today?" Lily asked, she immediately grew puzzled from the sly looks the teens had on their faces.
"Myra's going to help me learn sign language" Yugi replied surprising the adults before a smile formed on Solomon's face.
"Well now that is a good idea, you two have fun" Solomon said warmly allowing the pair to leave quickly as they were eager to start, Solomon sighed but his smile grew until he saw Lily's baffled expression earning her a laugh from the elderly man.
"You have to admit, they are definitely getting along quite well now" Solomon said before hearing her stutter.
"B-but how and when?" Lily asked as she stared at him with both eyes now wide.
"Yugi I'm sure wants to try and speak without any barriers after all, it's hard enough for her to keep using the pen and book every time and what if she hadn't had it in her possession? It would be more hard for her to communicate am I right?" That she could not disagree with.
"Who knows, I might definitely want to take up learning sign language if it makes it easier. What about you?" He asked Lily who has a pondering look on her face.
"I don't see why not" she finally smiled earning her a nod from him.
"Get Yugi can we talk?" Yugi pauses from his talk with Myra to as Joey, Téa and Tristan looking a little anxious to his confusion. Myra seeing that it could be a private talk proceeded to stand up alerting the trio of her presence.
"Wait Myra! You don't need to leave, you can stay if you want" Tristan said taking her by surprise, after debating to herself for a bit she slowly sat down on the chair. The trio moved a bit on their spots before Joey plucked up the courage to speak.
"Listen about before-" Yugi felt his stomach plummet from remembering leaving him uncomfortable.
"Joey you don't need to-"
"I'm sorry!" Joey interrupted a startled Yugi.
"We all are, we shouldn't be quick to judge" Tristan admitted looking equally as guilty surprising Yugi even more while Myra watched feeling speechless about the whole thing.
"Yeah! It was wrong, in a way just because we can't see something doesn't mean that it's not there. We didn't think about how you would feel and it was wrong" Joey added leaving Yugi silent before a smile formed on his face.
"Do you really mean it?" Yugi asked softly. The trio nodded.
"I had no idea of what was going on" Téa admitted "but just because you can see things we can't doesn't make you any less of a friend" Téa added causing Yugi to release a small relieved laugh.
"So if I told you Myra could see them would you believe me?" Yugi asked, he soon felt a tap and turned to see Myra raise a brow at him while pursing her lips.
"Really?" She signed while never taking her eyes of a now sheepish Yugi who released a shaky smile.
"S-Sorry I got carried away" Yugi said with a sheepish smile before the pair heard a loud yelp from Joey and Tristan.
"Now that I think about it, Courtney did bully you about something like this" Tristan commented only as soon as he said it the pair immediately went pale from realising, Myra while she stared at them gave them a dry look before folding her arms.
"S-sorry" the pair said while releasing nervous chuckled as her look did not change.
"Morning everyone!" Miho greeted while Bakura was walking beside her.
"Morning Miho how are you?" Téa asked with a smile.
"Miho is good, in fact Miho is excited since St White's day is coming up soon" Miho chirped with glee, Myra raised a brow.
"So why are you so excited then? You have months to prepare" Myra asked now feeling drained from the girls who heard the information since they were in cloud nine while some of the males were feeling their moods sour, feeling this Myra rubbed her temples in frustration.
"Headache?" Yugi asked before she gave him a look.
"Not easy hearing people, you're lucky" she signed slowly so he could try to process what she was saying.
"I see" Yugi nodded with a look of understanding on his face.
"Wait you know what she said?" Joey asked before Bakura could speak.
"Oh yeah..." Yugi chuckled weakly "I was trying to learn how to sign for the past month" he admitted to the now shocked group.
"Why didn't you tell us?" Téa asked while expressing her surprise.
"I wanted to surprise Myra but things kept coming up" Yugi replied with a shy smile, confused Bakura tried to think of why before his eyes lit up from remembering.
"Did you want to study it to surprise Myra because of her birthday?" Myra felt her stomach drop before the room went cold thanks to the fact Bakura blabbed.
"HAH?!" Téa, Joey, Tristan and Miho cried in alarm.
"You mean to tell us we missed Myra's birthday?!" Tristan yelled in surprise before the four looked at a very annoyed Myra who was glaring at Bakura, not speaking as Yugi had a sense that she was now mad at Bakura he nodded.
"Man why didn't you tell us?" Joey whined before seeing a note.
"I hate birthdays so leave it at that" Joey frowned.
"You should have let us know" Joey muttered.
"My birthday, my business" she gave them a bland look before slamming the notepad shut with a loud bang that silenced the whole room, Myra raised a brow at them almost daring them to say anything. Gulping the boys said nothing causing her to smile coldly before looking at the board as the teacher showed up.
"Did you do your homework last night?" Myra signed to Yugi once they were sitting in the classroom.
"Yup, I finished it last night. How did you find it though?" Yugi asked with a curious smile.
"Annoying but I managed" Myra replied before rolling her eyes, both neither noticed the group as they continued their chat until Yugi noticed their shocked expressions.
"Oh good morning everyone! How are you?" Yugi grinned while the group remained stunned at what they were seeing.
"We're okay, right Joey?" Tristan asked their friend who just nodded due to being left speechless at how Yugi was now signing without any mistakes or at least that was what he was assuming.
"Did you notice how scruffy Joey looks every morning?" Myra asked Yugi who soon laughed at the comment.
"Oi Myra, stop mocking Joey" Yugi signed with a giggle while she smiled brightly.
"Why? It's fun and besides he doesn't know what I'm saying" she added with a teasing smile.
"True, but be nice please Myra" Yugi asked after Myra sat down.
"No promises" she grinned.
"Hey um... do you want to fill us in on the conversation?" Joey asked before Myra signed 'no' in reply.
"She says no, sorry Joey" Yugi said with a weak smile.
"Still scruffy" she said with mirth in her eyes.
"Honestly how many months has it been since you've both been at it?" Téa asked with a tired smile before Joey gave a tall brown haired blue eyes male a cold look.
"Four months" Yugi laughed before noticing who Joey was glaring at.
"Be nice to Seto Joey, he is new you know" Yugi said weakly.
"Yeah but he was rude to Myra when she first spoke to him" Joey replied bluntly not that Myra could blame him. Looking at Bakura she shrugged with a small smile.
"Are you excited for tomorrow?" Miho asked with glee as she entered the room.
"About what?" Téa asked in confusion after turning to look at Miho who giggled.
"Why St White's day of course remember?" Miho asked not losing her happy smile only to see Myra slam her head on the table leaving everyone pausing from the loud thump.
"Flip this! I'm calling in sick!" Myra wrote on her leg with a pig sick look on her face.
Would you look at that! Yugi's got a new skill! I wonder what madness that will cause later on XD
