Hey Guys! I know it has been a while since I posted the last chapter, but I finally managed to finish this thing! And: it's the longest chapter I ever wrote, so I first thought about splitting it in half, but that would only mean torturing you for an even longer time.
In this chapter, I wrote what happened in Zach's plane while Yami was at the Tortuga. That means that what happened in the last chapter and this one is more or less at the same time, perhaps a bit later. I you already forgot what happened then, read that chapter again.
And I included suggestions for background music in here. They are only suggestions, but I wrote some parts listening to that music, and I think it fits the action very well.
At last, here are some warnings and disclaimers:
Disclaimer: I do not own the Kratt bros or anything related to them. I only own Yami and this story.
Warning: This chapter contains blood, references to gore, bad jokes and Jimmy X Koki. I you don't like that pairing, please just ignore it.
Have fun reading!
The attack
In Zach's plane:
"OK, we should be in the ventilation shaft, about here." Chris said, tapping on a spot on the map he had brought along. "Koki, Aviva? The control room is there, so you'll have to take this path here on our right. Martin, we'll try to localise the biggest group of Zachbots and take them out, then join Jimmy and Aviva and help them."
"Wait, what do I do now?"Jimmy asked.
Aviva handed him a small device. "You take this localiser and look for the tigers. As soon as you find them, you'll send us a message with the coordinates. Then, hide and wait for me to free these poor animals."
Jimmy nodded, and began to move along a straight pipe that lead him deeper into the inside of the plane.
"Great." Martin said. Then, he put one hand on his girlfriends' shoulder. "But Aviva, I don't want you to put yourself in danger for these tigers." Aviva wanted to say something, but he stopped her. "No. They are important, but I don't know if I could live without you. Please, promise me that you will be careful!"
She hugged him. "Yes, I promise, but you be careful, too. I don't want to loose you again." With these words, she turned around and disappeared inside another shaft with Koki.
At last, the two brothers were alone. "Do you have your Wolf-Disc ready, Martin?" Chris asked. "Of course!" The Kratt in blue answered, taking out the Disc. "Since I knew that you could transform, it's the only Creature-Power I'm taking along every time I leave the Tortuga!" He put it in his reader, and they began to crawl along a wide shaft on their quest for the Zachbots.
Jimmy shivered as he slowly moved over the cold metal. He felt really vulnerable, moving around almost without protection in the heart of the enemy's base. If any Zachbots discovered him here, he would be toast – literally! Trying in vain to forget about that fact, he grasped his ray-gun even stronger. It was the only weapon he had to defend himself, and if Aviva was right, it was the perfect weapon against these robots. But he knew exactly what she didn't speak out loud: It would be totally useless if he met any of Zach's henchmen, or even the evil scientist himself!
He shook his head. Now wasn't the time to panic. He had to be calm if he was to find these tigers in time, and hyperventilating wouldn't help him a bit. He just had to trust in Aviva's weapons, the fact that the guys tried to destroy all the Zachbots on this plane, and the small bit of training that he had gotten from Martin. It wasn't much, but he hoped that if would be enough to disable at least one robot.
Slowly, he started to calm down again. There was no reason Aviva's weapons wouldn't work, her stuff always worked perfectly, and he was an excellent shot after hours and hours of ''training'' with his video-games.
'Yep!' he thought. 'Zach may be ruthless, but there is no way that he got a lot smarter overnight. Aviva could still beat him in her sleep. This mission will be a piece of cake!'
Little did he know that it was planned that way.
Not even ten meters away, in another part of the plane, two young women were looking for an entrance to the control room.
"Man, this system is a real labyrinth! If it wasn't for the copy of that map, I'm sure that we would have gotten lost before we even reached the next shaft. Are you still sure that we're moving in the right direction?"
"For the hundredth time, yes! And if you don't stop asking, Zach will know we're here before anyone of us was able to complete his mission." Aviva checked the map again, but even with her miniaturised flash-light it was extremely difficult to see anything, let alone distinguish the right shaft. "But if my calculations are right, the control room should be right..." she whispered, and opened a small grating that replaced the cold iron ground in front of her. "here! See, Koki? Told you I could find it." Satisfied, she swung out of the shaft and landed in a dark corner of the room, behind a big computer-screen. But shortly after she hit the ground, she clearly heard the sound of a door closing. She looked around, but saw nobody. 'Surely it was my mind playing tricks on me.' she thought. 'Or there really was somebody...' but the shook her head. She couldn't be distracted, not now. Her friends needed her to be focusing on their plan. Slowly, she crept around the device and checked if the coast was clear. Fortunately, there was only one Zachbot, and she was able to take it down before it could set off the alarm.
"Great! Now Koki, try to hack into his system, his password should be either 'Zach Varmitech', 'I hate nature' or 'World Domination'. I'll check if Jimmy already localised the tigers." Aviva said. 'And check if the guys are still alright' she added silently.
In a completely different part of the plane, two men tried to get through an extremely narrow shaft.
"Man, I know I shouldn't have eaten these other three slices of bread with Aviva's new extra-sweet jam!" Martin groaned, and tried to free himself out of a spot that had gotten tighter because of the low temperatures.
"Yeah, and don't forget that extra mug of hot chocolate, and the two maxi-pizzas that you had yesterday evening. And what about the time we went to McMickey's and you took the biggest menu they had? And when Mum invited us for dinner when we were close by and you helped yourself to another three portions? And – "
"OK, OK, I get it, Chris!"He interrupted his brother. "I know I've been eating a bit – " he stopped, seeing his brothers face expression. "Aww, come on? Fine, I've been eating a lot more the past few days – weeks." His brother nodded in appreciation. "And I know that I put on some weight, but hey! It never restricted me in my actions before. Now just shut up and help me get through here."
"OK. " Chris tried hard to contain his giggles. "But you'll have to hold your breath when I try to push you through. Are you ready? One...two...THREE!" he said, and began to push. Martin tried to make himself as slim as possible, and after some more tries he finally slipped through.
"Great, we have that problem solved. Now, we'll just have to – AHHH!"
"What? What is it, Martin?" Chris yelled, and hurried up with coming through, prepared for anything.
"Prepare yourself to push me a few times more this afternoon..." Martin sighed, showing his brother the narrow shaft in front of them. "This is going to be a loong day."
"OK, they shouldn't be very far away now." Jimmy whispered to himself, inspecting the floor beneath him through the grids embedded in the cold metal of the shaft he was crawling through. More and more Zachbots were patrolling the hallways, so he had to be in a secured area. And what was the only special thing on board that Zach wanted to protect at all costs? It was either the evidence that would reveal his biggest secret, or...
"Complete success, the tigers!" he wanted to scream as he saw the animals cramped in a cage that could barely hold them all, but he could restrain his happiness in time. If he had yelled now, half of the Zachbots would know he was here, and even without contacting each other. As silently as he could, he opened a grid underneath him and slipped through, dangling in the air for a short time before he was sure that no Zachbots were around to ''catch'' him, and finally landed on his feet before he dove down for cover in time to see some more Zachbots passing by his hiding place. Luckily for him, they didn't notice the missing grid, but he didn't want to push his luck even further.
In a swift movement, he took out his communicator and typed in Aviva's number. Not wanting to risk anything, he just send her a text to avoid being seen by the – still patrolling – Zachbots.
'Now, I'll just have to wait here. Without Aviva, I'm not able to pick the lock and even if I was, the guards would surely notice me.' he thought, and tried to press himself even closer to the wall and into the shadows that dissimulated him from any hostile eyes.
"Great, Jimmy found the tigers! Koki, did you already disable the cameras so I can move around unseen?"
"Yes, and you were right. The password really was 'Zach Varmitech'! Man, I've never seen anybody more vain than him."
Aviva put her communicator away and prepared herself to return to the ventilation shaft. "Yeah. But we should be glad, that made it extremely easy for us. Now we'll just have to hope that, even if he got more ruthless than before, he still stayed naïve and dumb, more or less." Then, she disappeared inside the cold metal tube.
Koki returned to the screen. She had to stay here and coordinate the whole thing, but her biggest task was to warn them if anything went wrong, so they could escape in time.
She hacked into the system again, typed in some complicated formulas and pressed ENTER. A satisfied smile played about her lips. Now, she was able to see everything as it was, but Zach would only see the parts of his plane where none of the Kratts would ever go to, and the cameras that filmed the tigers would show the same scene again and again.
As she kept the cameras under her surveillance, she heard a noise coming out of a small cupboard in a far corner of the room. She knew that she should be watching her friends the whole time, but curiosity got the best of her. Slowly, she crept up to the door. As she wanted to turn the handle, one of the alarms suddenly started beeping!
"Well, I'm sure it was only a small animal or something." She sat back down on the seat programmed the computers and the alarm stopped. 'Phew. Am I glad that Zach or one of his robots didn't notice that, or we would have had to call off the mission before it had even really begun.'
Inside the cupboard, Zach let out the air of his lungs. He didn't even know he had held his breath the whole time. But he couldn't afford anybody to see him, or Yami would do...whatever she could do to punish him, and he knew that she wouldn't step back at anything, even killing him!
He took deep breaths, trying to calm down again. He had one simple task he had to fulfil, and he wouldn't fail his new partner, even if she didn't want to tell him her whole plan or even why she wanted to get rid of the Kratts. But that was the deal. She'll help him realize his biggest dream, and he'll do what she wants, including the golden rule: No questions!
He sighed, thinking about how he had a big bunch of the most modern technology right in front of him, but also about how he couldn't use any of it. But he could at least try it! He grinned as a plan began to form in his head, and if it worked, world domination would finally be within his grasp. And nothing, nothing and nobody, would be able to stop him!
"You know what, Martin? Let's just walk along the hallways like everybody else, so I don't have to push you through half the plane!" Chris said, and started to look for an exit.
"But then, it will be more difficult to find the place where the most Zachbots are!" Martins voice was a bit muffled, since he was penned in another narrow passageway.
"Yeah, but isn't that our task? Attracting and destroying as many Zachbots as we can, and that is easiest when every single robot in the whole plane knows we're here."
"Oh, alright. But be careful, we don't know if he has installed any new weapons in those things."
"I promise, I will." Chris finally managed to open the grid and slipped through. He waited for his brother to come out, too, but nothing came. "Martin? Are you alright?"
"Chris, help me."
"What? What is it again?"
"I'm stuck..."
Chris groaned. "OK, one last time. But as soon as we get out of here, you go on a diet!" He grabbed his brother's legs and started to pull with all his might. Martin tried to help him by pushing himself out of the bottleneck, and finally, he slipped through, fell right through the hole and landed on the ground.
"Hey, this floor is a lot softer than I though!" he exclaimed.
"That's because you're sitting on my chest." Chris groaned, and his eyelid started twitching.
Instantly, Martin jumped up and helped his brother to stand up again. "Hehe, sorry Chris. Won't happen again."
But before Chris could reply again, there was a whizzing noise and two Zachbots came hovering around the corner.
"Martin, watch out!" he yelled, just in time for his brother to turn around and dive out of the reach of their pincers. "That was a close one." he muttered, but Martin was only thinking about goofing around.
"Hey, be careful with these! You could easily be hurting someone, don't you know that violence is never the answer? Now apologize and go back to your mother."
The Zachbot's eyes flashed in confusion. They weren't programmed to process sentences like that. So while they tried to find the reason why situation and speech didn't fit together at all, Martin took them both out by just ripping out some cables out of the back of their heads.
But shortly before they both shut down, one of them send an alarm signal to the other robots. "Intruders! Code orange!"
Only a few seconds later, something that seemed to be an army of Zachbots came around the corner and instantly started attacking them.
"Well, I think these are all the Zachbots on this plane, so we accomplished our mission." Martin said, satisfied with himself.
"Not yet. We still have to defeat them all! But we'll need some Creature Power. Martin, get ready to activate!" Chris yelled, and transformed.
"Alright!" Martin touched his brother's shoulder and pressed the button on his own suit. "Activate: Wolf Power!"

After the blue light faded again, he stood there as a wolf-human hybrid. "Let's get ready to smash up some foil-fools!"
Chris just rolled his eyes and jumped forward, right on top of one of the robots. Before it could even react, he had already sliced it up with his claws, and jumped over the pile of metal that was left. He then dug his claws into another robot and, at the same time, send another one flying that wanted to attack him from behind.
His brother had a slightly different, but not less efficient fighting style: He had grabbed one Zachbot by it's arms and was spinning it around, hitting several robots at once and destroying them in the process.
"Whohoo! I've always wanted to try this!" he yelled, ripping out the robots pincer and throwing away what was left of his enemy. Then, using the arm just like a sabre, he managed to repel most of the other robots or chased them into Chris' direction, so his brother could finish them off. "En garde!" he shouted. "We are the three – er – two musketeers, and nobody has ever beaten us!"
Chris shook his head. 'You really can't stay serious, even when we are fighting, can you?' he asked.
"Huh, what are you talking about?" Martin asked innocently.
If he had been able to slap Martin just one time to smack some sense into him, he would have done that a long time ago, but he knew it was to no avail. So he just sighed, rolled his eyes and jumped back into the compact bunch of robots that was still moving towards them.
Instantly, he had landed on top of one of them and dug his claws into it's systems, causing it to glitch. The robot got out of control and started to fly towards a bigger group of robots. Luckily, Chris managed to jump off in time before it hit the other ones and they all exploded, but he hadn't been able to move fast enough to evade the following heatwave.
Not very far away from that, Martin heard the sound of an explosion, and turned his head in time to see Chris engulfed by the fire.
"Noo, Chris!" he yelled at the top of his lungs.
But just before he could jump into the fire to try to save his brother, he saw something move in the flames. He narrowed his eyes against the hot air, trying to distinguish something, but he instantly moved back again.
Out of the blazing flames jumped a night-black wolf, whose fur was still on fire! It didn't really seem to bother him, on the contrary,he used it as a weapon, burning every single robot in his way.
Martin shuddered. Chris looked really scary when he was like that: Deep growls, black fur and some parts that were on fire. He seemed to be the reincarnation of the devil himself!
But of course, Martin still didn't loose his humour. "If Zach was to see you like this, I'm sure he would instantly free the tigers and never bother us again!" he joked.
'Just shut up and help me!' Chris was furious, and he was sure that he would go right for Martin's throat if he made any more jokes like that in desperate situations like theirs in the future.
"Alright, alright! Sheesh, you can be a real killjoy sometimes." Martin pouted, and fetched the fire extinguisher that was stuck to the wall. A quick pull on the trigger, and Chris was all covered in white froth, that he tried to shake off instantly.
'Cold, cold, cold, cold, COLD!' was all he managed to think as he ran around, trying to find a way to clean himself from the bubbling carbon-dioxide that was sticking to his fur. As he shook himself, he splattered some of the froth onto the more attacking robots, short-circuiting them.
"Well, that was easy." Martin wanted to say, but he was stopped by even more robots that came around the corner. "Seriously? Is this never going to end?" he yelled, but charged them anyway.
Chris had just bitten through one robot's chest protection, and it looked like they had won. At least, they couldn't distinguish each other anymore since a giant pile of scrap metal lied between them.
"I suppose that these were all the Zachbots that he was able to fit in this plane." Martin said panting, despite the wolf's great stamina.
Chris just fell to the ground, trying to brush off the last bits of froth on his fur. 'You should call the others to see if they already found the tigers. The faster we get out of here, the better.'
"You're right." Martin wheezed. "But let me breathe properly first. I'll call them in two seconds." Then, he fell to the ground as well, and they both just laid there, trying to catch their breath.

"Jimmy, are you alright?" The red-haired man jumped at the sound of a voice and a hand that was shaking him. Luckily, it was only Aviva, trying to drag him out of the corner where he had been sitting for at least ten minutes to hide from the patrolling robots.
"Oh, sorry Aviva, I didn't see you." he said awkwardly, and blushed a bit. He hoped Aviva hadn't noticed that he had been shutting his eyes tight for the whole time, but he couldn't help it. When he was scared or started to panic, he would just shut his eyes and hope that if he couldn't see the scary thing, maybe it couldn't see him or just wouldn't be interested.
"It's OK, but we'll have to hurry up. I don't know how much time we have exactly, and there could be more robots coming here any minute."
"Right, right." He stood up, wiped some dust off his pants and carefully peeked around the corner, to see if any robots were nearby.
Not even a meter away were two robots that were flying towards him! But before he could scream, Aviva pulled him back and covered his mouth with her hands, turning the scream into a muffled sound. The robots' eyes blinked in confusion, but they carried on with their task and didn't notice the two hiding intruders.
The young woman let out her breath that she had been holding, and peeked around the corner herself. Lucky for them, there were no robots this time, so she ran towards the cage where the tigers were sitting, and looked for the lock.
It was a more complicated, computer-generated lock this time, but Aviva was a professional. "Here Jimmy." she said, handing him his electromagnetic-ray gun that hd been lying next to him. "You hold my back while I pick this lock. Shoot any robots that come too close, and warn me if there are too many for you to handle alone. But be careful not to shoot any of the other devices around here, I don't know what is going to happen if you do."
"O – OK." Jimmy stuttered. He knew he had to stay calm, but every additional second he had to spend in this plane was freaking him out more and more. He just wanted to get this over as quick as possible, so he could go back to the Tortuga and hide under his bed.
But deep inside him, he knew that there was another reason. He tried to hide it from everybody, but he couldn't deny that he had fallen in love. With Koki. He had loved her since high school, and he had been so happy when he knew that he would work with her in the Tortuga. For all these years, he had concealed his feelings, afraid to be rejected. He knew that he probably wouldn't be able to live anymore if she rejected him but still lived in the room next to him, both separated only by a wall that was merely two inches thick.
And now, they were all here, risking their lives saving these tigers. He just hoped that they would all come out of here alive, especially Koki. 'If we survive this safe and sound, I swear that I will confess her my feelings!' he thought. Then, he concentrated on his task again and carefully peeked around the corners, ready to blast anything that was coming too close to them.

First, everything was silent. Then, he heard a whizzing sound that was getting louder and louder by the second, and then he finally saw them. Zachbots. More than he had ever seen before. It seemed like all the robots Zach had ever built had come to destroy them.
Jimmy started shaking uncontrollably, so much that he wasn't able to find the trigger on his blaster. 'Come on, Jimmy. You can do it. Just get a hold of yourself!' he told himself, trying to calm down. But it still didn't work. Then, he had another idea. 'Do it for Koki! She is relying on you to fulfil your task, and you won't disappoint her!' That seemed to work, because suddenly a wave of courage swept over him and cleared his head again. After he had managed to grasp the blaster correctly, he put his finger on the trigger and looked over to the robots.
"You're going down!" he yelled, and started blasting them. First, he hit every robot that came closer than a few yards. All of the ones he had hit just had blue lightning bolts shooting around them and fell to the floor, slowly creating a barrier that the other robots had to find a way around or through, giving Jimmy more time to blast them.
He did great, but then, a bigger robot appeared that just melted away the barrier with his laser, and right behind him were almost hundreds of robots that dodged every single shot out of Jimmy's blaster.
"Aviva? I think I'll need some help here!" he screamed, grabbing her shoulder and shaking it.
"OK Jimmy!" she said, looking for the second gun she had. "How many – " then, she turned around and saw the robots that were coming closer and closer by the second. "Holy..." but she couldn't finish her phrase. The giant-laser-bearing-robot blasted into her direction and she was barely able to dive out of the way, making the laser miss her by only a few inches.
She rolled over and stopped on one knee, before she hit the robot and made it fall to the ground as well. But there were still too many robots that didn't look like they would let them walk out of there unharmed, and they still had to get to the tigers somehow.
"Jimmy, I'm calling the guys! They have to help us here." Aviva yelled, shooting more robots while evading everything they would throw at them. She then took out her communicator and typed in the guys' number, then looked at the screen. Finally, Martin's face showed up, looking pretty tired. But as soon as he saw Aviva, all the tiredness disappeared without a trace.
"Aviva! Did you find the tigers yet?" he asked, hope shining in his eyes.
"Yes, but you have to come here instantly! The Zachbots found us and are attacking us, we need all the help we can get!"
Instantly, his face got serious. "Of course, we'll be right there! But promise me you'll be careful until we're there, don't try anything!"
"I promise." Then, she hung up again and hit three more robots. "Martin and Chris will be here any minute, we'll have to stand our ground until then." she told Jimmy, who seemed to tense up more with every second.
"Please guys." she whispered. "Come as fast as you can."
Zach was still sitting in his closet, trembling with fear. On his portable screen, he could see his robots being taken out one by one by the two fighting groups.
'What should I do?' he thought to himself. 'If they find me here or if they get out before Yami finished...whatever she has to do, she's going to kill me.' Finally, he made a decision. He had to call her, or it would become a catastrophe. Cold sweat was dripping from his hands as he took out his communication device and activated it.
Shortly after, there was a fizzing sound and he heard Yami pressing the answer button at the other end of the line.
"Help, they are too strong! Miss Smarty-pants and Red-haired guy already took out most of my robots, and soon, Green-guy and Blue-boy will have joined them! What do I do?" he almost yelled into the communicator, but hold his hand over it so Koki wouldn't hear him.
"I need a bit more time. Did you already release the robots I gave you?" he heard his partner asking him.
"No, but how are they going to help me? The Wild Rats are almost taking my plane apart!" he whispered, slowly getting angry.
"Don't ask, just do it!" Yami's voice was so full of confidence, that all his anger and panic disappeared in a moment, leaving only nervousness inside him. "You'll see how they are going to help you." Then, he heard the beeping sound that indicated her ending the call.
For some more seconds, he was just sitting there, trying to catch his breath again. But then, he took out the two spheres she gave him shortly before she left the plane, and looked for the activation button, only to notice that there was none.
"Great! Now how am I supposed to activate – " but before he could finish his sentence, the two spheres just began to glow in a light purple colour and began hovering right above his hand.
BG music: The Luna Sequence – Beside still waters
"Orders?" he heard a female robotic voice asking.
"Uhh, Yami told me you would take care of the Kratts..." he stammered, not sure about what to say.
"Proceeding order: Take down Kratts. Understood. Going over to stage two: Unable weaponry. Localizing targets..." Then, they started blinking and their colour changed to a very dark red. "Targets localized. Attack mode: activated." The last thing he noticed was that there seemed to be small dark clouds around them, before they just melted a hole into the closet wall with a small laser and flew through it.
He slowly breathed out and leaned back, hoping that everything would be OK.
"Aviva, help! They are coming closer!" Jimmy yelled at the top of his lungs.
"I'm on it Jimmy, the guys are going to be here any second now." On her screen, she could see Martin and Chris running towards their location. But she was so concentrated on protecting herself and Jimmy from the advancing robots that she didn't notice the small spheres coming out of the vents, flying towards their ray-guns and merging with them.
Aviva wanted to shoot another robot and pulled the trigger, but nothing happened! The same thing was going on with Jimmy's ray-gun.
The robot was still coming closer, so she just did the first thing that came to her mind and threw her now-useless weapon at it, smashing it's head. She then ran over to it's remains and ripped out one arm that was sticking out of it's body, then used it to repel all the other robots that were approaching her.
"Jimmy! Try to find something else to defend yourself with!" she yelled at the completely panicked man who just stood there, breathing heavily.
Finally, he snapped out of his trance and looked for an improvised weapon, but she couldn't concentrate on him anymore, because some yells out of her communicator caught her attention. She dared to have a quick look at the screen but what she saw there made her freeze.
Martin was just standing there, but he seemed to have problems with his suit. And suddenly, it deactivated, leaving him defenceless against about ten robots that came charging at him.
She was so taken in by that situation that she didn't notice the big robot aiming his laser at her face and shooting. In the last moment, she raised her head and saw the red blast coming right at her in slow motion. Her whole life flashed by in front of her eyes, but the only moments she really wanted to grasp and keep were the ones spent with Martin. Their childhood games, the day when they got to work together and live on the same ship, and finally, their first kiss on the roof of the Tortuga.
She didn't want to leave like this. She wanted to live more adventures, see more animals and share more moments with her friends. When the blast was only inches away, she closed her eyes.
But just as it was about to hit her, she felt somebody grab her waist and push her out of the way. Next second, she hit the ground with somebody lying across her legs. Something hot and sticky began to drip onto her feet, and a metallic smell filled her nose. But she wasn't hurt. The only pain she had felt was when she had raised her arms to protect her face as soon as she knew she was falling.
She was afraid she would be the perfect target for the robots now, but nothing happened. But she was also afraid of turning around and see whose blood was still slowly drenching her jeans. Finally, she got a hold of herself and turned her head around, but her heart almost stopped at the sight in front of her.
Lying across her legs was Jimmy. He still seemed to be breathing, but the next thing she noticed and what made her cover up her mouth with her hand, was the gaping wound on his left arm and side of chest.
"Jimmy? Oh my...No, please no! Answer me, Jimmy!" she said, carefully touching his healthy arm so he wouldn't lose even more blood. She really thought that now, the Zachbots would take them both apart, but something – or someone – was holding them back. She raised her head and saw a brown blur slashing all the robots that tried to come closer than three yards.
"Chris...and Martin." she whispered, when she noticed her boyfriend destroying robots with one of their own laser guns. "There couldn't have been a better time to show up." Concentrating on Jimmy again, she ripped off one of her jacket's arms and tied it around the wound, trying to stop the bleeding for at least enough time to get out of here and to the safety of the Tortuga, where she could perform surgery.
Instantly, she took out her communicator and called Koki. "Koki? We're stopping the mission. I repeat, we're stopping the mission. Jimmy has been badly injured and I have to stitch up his wound as soon as I can."
"OK, meet me at the control room. Until then, I'll try to land this thing at a safe place. Roger and out."
Aviva put her communicator away again and carefully picked Jimmy up bridal style, making him protest a little.
"No, don't stop the mission because of me. I'm not important, you should save the tigers!" he mumbled, weakly moving in her arms.
"Don't you dare say anything like that, Jimmy! You are as important as anybody of us. You are a member of this team, and we're not leaving anybody behind!" she almost yelled at him, fighting back the tears that had started forming in her eyes.
Jimmy didn't answer, he just looked at her with big eyes and tried to stay awake, even if he was slowly losing more blood.
Aviva didn't turn around as she ran down the hallways, but she could hear the bros being right behind her, protecting her and Jimmy from any robot attacks. Soon, she noticed a brown wolf running past her and starting to push away some of the scrap metal that was lying on the ground, so they could pass more easily.
After some second, she suddenly saw a silver flash next to her, and more robots flowed out of a room on her right. But before she could react, the door slammed shut, smashing both robots that wanted to come through and trapping all the others behind them.
From the dark corner next to the door emerged a figure with a big afro haircut, who was holding another blaster and destroyed all the robots that had made it through.
"Koki!" Aviva cheered, and ran over to her. "We have to get to the ship as fast as we can, I have to take care of Jimmy as soon as possible."
Koki, covered her mouth with her hand when she noticed the bleeding man in Aviva's arms, but stayed as calm as she could and led the way so they would get to their ship as fast as possible.
But suddenly, they felt the ship tilt to the side, making everything and everyone fall over.
'What's happening?' Chris asked them.
"I – I don't know." Aviva stammered, but gasped as she felt herself become lighter by the second. "I think we're – we're falling! The plane is going to crash!" she yelled when she understood what was happening, grabbed Jimmy again and began to run after Koki, who was already running towards their ship.
'Please!' she prayed. 'Please let us all get home safe!'
Zach was now having a panic attack. He had noticed they were falling in the same moment as Aviva, but he seemed to be locked inside his closet, with no means to get out by himself. He was just sitting there, screaming at the top of his lungs.
He had lost all hope to ever get out of there alive, when he heard someone breaking down the door and felt a strong hand pull him out of the closet and towards the exit. He tried to run alongside the dark figure that was still holding his arm, but she was so fast she was more or less just dragging him along.
He was finally able to lift his head and recognized Yami's helmet, but before he could react, she lifted him up and pushed him out of a hole that was in the wall. Instantly, he began to plummet towards the ground, screaming again. He tried to brake his fall by stretching out his arms and legs, but it did nothing.
Just as he thought it was over for real, he felt himself being grabbed by the waist and flying forward. When he looked up, he saw his partner holding him again, but this time, she had a glider's wings stretching out on either side of her back.
"Hold on tight!" she yelled down to him, and he grabbed her arms to avoid falling down. Slowly but steadily, they approached the treetops, and Yami started her landing mode, carefully folding in her wings again.
Finally, when they touched the ground and ran a bit further to be able to brake more easily, he looked behind him, in time to see his plane crashing in the distance. When a big cloud of black smoke emerged from between the trees, he dared to say something again.
"Thank you. If it wasn't for you, I would still be stuck in there and probably be dead by now."
"You're welcome. But don't think that I have a better impression of you now, you are still too easily panicked. You'll need to work on that if you want to be successful in what you're doing. Being able to improvise is an ability that will help you every time." Yami said, without even looking at him.
"And the Kratts? Do you know what happened to them? I wasn't able to look around the hallways anymore after the plane started leaning."
This time, she didn't answer, just watched the smoke in the distance.
"Here, Aviva, let me help you!" Martin said. Aviva gratefully put Jimmy in his arms and ran in front of him, ready to help him if anything happened. They were now only a few yards away from their ship, and when they heard a happy howl coming from Chris, she knew that he could already see it.
"Come on, come on, COME ON!" Koki yelled. She was already at the door, ready to close it as soon as everybody went through. Chris jumped inside, making space for Aviva, who entered the ship and turned around again to help Martin lift Jimmy inside. Finally, when Martin was also inside, Koki closed the door and Aviva started the engines.
She was able to remove their capsule from the plane's exoskeleton and fly it to a safe distance, just in time for them to see the plane crash into the trees, setting the ones that weren't smashed on fire.
"That was a close one!" Martin said, shivering as he thought about what could have happened to them if they hadn't been able to get off there on time.
'But what about the tigers?' Chris asked. Everyone gasped.
But when Martin looked out of the window, he saw something really strange: the cage with all the tigers inside floated towards the ground behind them, attached to about a hundred parachutes.
"Guys!" he yelled. "You are not going to believe this!"
"What?" Chris yelled, as soon as he had transformed back. "That isn't possible! Why would Zach do that?"
"I have no idea, but why 'Zach'?" Aviva asked from her place at the controls.
"Well, no one of us did that, so if there wasn't anybody else on the plane, it must have been Zach."
"OK, we can discuss that later. Chris, can you put on the rocket shoes again and make sure that they are safe?" Aviva asked.
Chris nodded, went to a small box in the back, took out the shoes, put them on and carefully opened the door. He switched the rocket engines on and climbed outside, carefully closed the door again and flew towards the floating cage.

As soon as he was gone, Aviva held course for the Tortuga. During the flight, Martin and Koki took care of Jimmy, who had already passed out some time ago. They disinfected the wound and put on a clean bandage, but they were both afraid that that wouldn't be enough. The laser had burned away a part of his left arm and grazed his side, and because of the heat, the skin on that part of his body had just been welded together. This had stopped the bleeding for some time, but they would have to take away all the burned parts. Luckily, the bone and most of the nerves weren't damaged, so he could grow the parts again, but it would take some time.
Finally, they reached their headquarters, Martin carried Jimmy into the main room and put him down on the table. Instantly, Aviva began to start all the machines she would need to perform surgery, and told Martin to make space in his room, since it was the biggest and she would need some silence.
When she was ready to put Jimmy in Martin's bed, Koki came along with her.
"Everything is going to be OK, Jimmy. Aviva will save you." she said between tears and touched his hand, even if Jimmy probably couldn't hear her or feel her. "But if...if anything happens...I wanted to tell you that – that I love you" Then, she burst out into tears.
Suddenly, Jimmy stirred. He slowly opened one eye to look at her, and a small smile crept on his face. Then, he weakly lifted his hand to touch her cheek and carefully wipe her tears away.
Even if he didn't pronounce a single word, that gesture told Koki everything she needed to know. She let go of his hand and just watched as Aviva disappeared in Martin's room with him. Even when the door was already closed, she still stood in the same space.
Martin slowly walked up to her and carefully put a hand on her shoulder. Then, without a word, Koki turned around and began to cry into his chest. The surprised man didn't know what to say, so he just put his arms around her and carefully patted her back, trying to comfort her. He knew exactly what she was going through, and he hoped that everything would be OK soon.
Everything he could do until then, was helping her to get back to her old, sarcastic self again, and to fulfil this task, he knew that Jimmy had to get better.
'Please.' he prayed to nobody special. 'Make Jimmy get better soon.'
So, I hope you liked it, and I'll try to finish the next chapter as soon as I can. I'm already working on the chapter that's coming after the next one, so I think that that gap won't be as big.
Anyway, if you have any suggestion for me how I can improve, leave a review. Constructive critique is always welcome here.
See you next chapter!
