The first thing Seto had thought he would never do is carry someone who wasn't his brother into the hospital, heck he never thought that he would be scared about anyone else's wellbeing and yet here he was rushing out of the helicopter with an unresponsive Myra who was bleeding in his arms. Right as he rushed into the A&E Mokuba followed in after him with complete worry filling every part of his body.
"Get her seen now" Seto demanded the doctor who rushed to meet them after receiving the call.
"Yes Mr. Kaiba" the man said before getting her onto the gurney "What has happened?" the doctor asked as he pushed the gurney with a nurse.
"She hit her head against a wooden beam" Seto explained, startled the man pushed her quickly.
"Page neuro and get her into the OR after she had her CT" the doctor yelled at a junior doctor who rushed to help.
"Yes sir" the junior doctor before running to contact Neuro. Spotting the elevator opening the pair rushed her inside until a male surgeon entered to help.
"What's her condition" the male asked looking frantic as he examines her injuries.
"Patient has suffered a head injury and most likely collided with what she was sent against resulting in her upper arm injury. Right now she has passed out which could mean she has suffered a concussion or has gone into shock due to the damage" the doctor explained as he did CPR when her heart rate started to go down.
"Or she has both, are you two the ones who brought her here?" the surgeon asked after he checked the injured arm.
"Yes, we were about to bring her here anyways but she lost consciousness" Mokuba replied looking worried.
"I see, you both did a good job. Now stay in the visiting wing until we give you news okay, we have it under control" the surgeon said with an assuring smile before the elevator opened. Seeing three doctors the pair rushed out while trying to keep Myra stable.
"Huh... didn't think that I would end up dying again" Marium released a weak mental chuckle "only this time it's from a concussion and an infected arm injury that's lost a lot of blood, to think I love water. What an irony" Marium watched in spirit while making sure Myra was still in her room, checking the door was barred shut so the pain wouldn't touch the girl Marium resumed watching as they took her to a room with a round metal hole.
"Fun..."
The surgeon and the doctor that worked for Seto watched the scans load before getting Myra prepped for the OR.
"This is bad, there's a lot of bleeding. She'll be lucky to recover" the doctor said looking worried while the surgeon remained silent.
"I hope we can save her, otherwise how can I face Rioto if I let her die" the surgeon looked at her before looking at the door to the OR, hearing his thoughts Marium blinked.
"Oh? So a friend of the family? Must be nice... good thing he is not in the hospital, last thing I would want is to hear him wailing like last time... hmm, should punch him for making the little ones cry though now that I think about it" Marium mused before a flash of light filled her vision.
"Ouch..."
The next thing Marium knew was the sounds of something blaring loudly.
"Turn it off already, you made your point I can hear you" Marium muttered as she felt people panicking.
"She's crashing! Where are the blood bags?" someone yelled before he grew faint in her ears.
"Must be a problem, oh well not much I can do" Marium shrugged before the world faded before her very eyes.
"Please do not give up darling, it is not your time" came a soft voice that left Marium looking around the hallways of their mind. Who was that?
"Hey, do you always give up when things seem bleak? Nah there's no way Ilayna's daughter would ever quit... too stubborn" said an amused masculine voice that sounded like they were close yet so far away.
"Who are you both? How did you get in here?!" Marium demanded with a cross look, she felt offended by the comment since she had lasted this long. It wasn't her or Myra's fault for having bad luck! So how dare the second voice insult her.
"Do not forget, you have this new chance for a reason. Please take care of my son" Marium's eyes went wide as she immediately recognised that voice.
"Ah! Father Aknamkanon!" Marium cried with a speechless voice.
"You are not alone please remember that Marium, your mother is always watching you" Aknamkanon said softly as his spirit appeared in front of her followed by two spirits standing beside him. One Marium recognised which made her heart both sing and weep for the person who had been missing since a week after her birth.
"Mother..." Marium's voice shook but did not move towards them, instead her hands went straight to her face.
"Heh, she's definitely something Ilayna" a black haired tanned male who was beside the Aknamkanon grinned, his purple eyes glinted from mirth "I'm glad her children survived and had at least had descendants of their own" the male added.
"Who... who are you?" she asked causing the male to release a mock surprise.
"Your serious?! How could you forget your uncle Abbas-Oi!" Abbas yelped as he rubbed his sore left shoulder.
"Enough out of you Abbas! She is already on death's doors again, behaved!" Ilayna scolded sharply causing him to mumble weakly only to go quiet from her glare, Marium's father in law watched them weakly before giving a surprised Marium an apologetic smile.
"You are going to be fine, however be warned the darkness is growing and it will not hesitate to hurt to cause destruction. For now rest until you are able to move" Aknamkanon commented as he placed his right hand on her shoulder.
"You know... he was a wreck when you died" Marium muttered as she looked down, the male spirit smiled softly.
"That may be, but he had you to help him through it" he added causing her to roll her eyes at what good that did.
"You forget, I was murdered and drove him over the edge" she said dryly "idiot even neglected our children causing Seto and Isis to watch over them... I can imagine how upset and resentful they were towards him to the point that they left" the man hummed as he listened to her words.
"Would that encourage you to leave him?" Marium looked at him with broken eyes.
"He doesn't even know who I am! I am non existent to him no matter how I scream, he..." she looked away bitterly "he likes someone else, I will not compete for him if he wants someone else. I can't, I won't do that to myself" Marium looked away feeling frustrated, hurt and tired.
"I question why I bothered to help, I knew he would forget me but just seeing him acting like I am a stranger. It hurts too much and I just... can't take it anymore" she admitted feeling heavy. Staring at her the trio grew worried and sad knowing that this was destroying her from the inside.
"Once the games begin he will have to regain his name" Ilayna explained "if he wishes, he will see regain all his memories which means his time with you will be-"
"And if he choses to want nothing to do with me then what mother?! I... I can't take anymore disappointment" Marium's voice shook as she screamed, tears ran down her cheeks while her hands were now in fists as she clenched them tightly. "Not again! I am not dealing with another person leaving me oh wait he did!" she snapped blithely causing them to cringe mentally at how this was truly hurting her, despite how well she tried to hold herself together and tried to bottle things in. Even they knew that the toughest person would crack when things got too much.
"Please do not give up hope after all... someone has messed with his memories connected to your death and if they do strike again" Ilayna said gravely.
"He would go mad because he doesn't understand, sure... I got it" Marium said bitterly before feeling tired however unlike when she died before... she was now feeling the urge to wake up to her surprise.
"A spirit will come to see you, one I am sure you know who it is" Aknamkanon said softly before the trio vanished leaving Marium alone in the hallway.
"Sure... I got it" she muttered now feeling tired and resentful about the whole situation. Why didn't she get to lose her memories? Why did she have to suffer while he acted all innocent and was able to forget everything? At times like this... she wanted to punch him for giving her grief.
"Ugh! Why did I marry him again? Oh right because I was the idiot who believed everything would be okay. Now look at me" she looked around to see grass on the floor and ivy on the walls. "I got pushed around left right and center, got killed after he sent me away and screamed at my face for getting in the way, and NOW I'm stuck in the mind of one of my descendants... grr! I really wish I hadn't died back then so I could kill him myself for putting me in this mess" she huffed angrily.
Slowly the sound of a gentle beeping entered her ears the moment she regained consciousness, Marium slowly opened her eyes to see plain walls and a window that was open allowing the wind to blow the cream coloured curtain slightly.
"Got lucky I guess" Marium sighed feeling relief that Myra was going to live given how close they were to dying. Images of the trio entered her mind causing her to grunt weakly before placing her right hand which had a needle attached to it to her face, with her eyes closed she tried to gather her bearings given how tired and weak she felt. Sensing something enter the room she opened her eyes and moved her hand down, Marium soon tilted her head to see a blue eyed, tan skinned man in white robed and a white turban.
"Shadi I assume?" she asked faintly before the man went on one knee and bowed.
"My queen, a thousand apologies" Shadi said as his head touched the ground but she cared not except stare blankly at him. "I am truly sorry for being unable to save you when you were in danger. Just seeing you in this state and being unable to know whether you would survive or not plagued my mind" Shadi said with a guilty but sad voice that left her staring at him with numb eyes.
"What's done is done" she muttered faintly as she looked up at the ceiling but it didn't ease his mind.
"I still humbly apologise for being powerless to help-"
"There was nothing you could do Shadi, it's life" Marium's stern tone silenced him enough to recoil from how harsh she spoke. Silence filled the pair to the point that they only heard the heart monitor beeping softly in the background.
"How long was I out?" Marium asked causing him to look up.
"A week my queen, the ring lost the duel against the Pharaoh but a friend of your host called Joey suffered an attack against Ra due to his wrath" Marium remained passive as she kept looking at the ceiling. "Tomorrow another one who your host-"
"Myra... her name is Myra and she carries my blood" she bit causing him to flinch "treat her and Yugi- the pharaoh's host with respect" she added with a warning edge in her tone. Nodding Shadi bowed.
"My apologises for the lapse of judgement" Shadi said before sitting up.
"Please continue with what you were saying" Marium said before he nodded once more.
"The woman Mai Valentine is going to be dueling against Marik who's dark side has taken over and sent him to the Shadow Realm" Marium now feeling Myra's panic narrowed her eyes, forcing herself up she winced despite the aches and screaming bones in her body who were protesting about getting up now.
"My queen you should rest" Shadi said calmly as he got up to get her laying back down.
"Do something useful and help me up, I am not resting when he has Ra. He could kill her or worse send her to the Shadow Realm and then what? Could you look me in the face knowing that this could have been avoided?" Marium struggled against the pain and finally sat up only to fall sideways, however Shadi caught her before she fell in an odd angle
"Help me get the wires and stuff off, I need to get to where they are and I KNOW you can help me get up there. We have no time to waste" Marium gritted her teeth only to whimper in agony when he helped her, just as he helped her stand the injured female's legs buckled.
"My queen, please... don't do this to yourself" Shadi pleaded but it was on deaf ears as she gripped his arm tightly in order to use him as a clutch.
"Quit pleading and help me" she hissed as she forced her aching weak limbs to stand. Looking at her bandaged left upper arm she felt relief in knowing it was still there.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE IS GONE?" Seto bellowed startling Mokuba who was drinking hot chocolate, wincing as the liquid burned his leg he looked at Seto with worry.
"People who are in a coma don't just vanish. Find her now or I will sue you for negligence!" Seto warned before hanging up and slamming his phone on the table.
"Such incompetence! How hard is it to take care of a person who is in a coma?" Seto hissed causing Mokuba to go pale.
"Myra's gone missing?! But how?" Mokuba cries now standing up. "shouldn't we tell Yugi and the others?"
"Not until we know what's going on, I am not causing a panic in the middle of the tournament. Those fools had hope that she is there in that hospital or else there will be hell to pay" Seto seethed in anger, Mokuba immediately nodded in agreement as he remembered Yugi agreeing to keep Myra being in the hospital a secret. However what Yugi didn't know was yes the surgery had been a success but she had been rendered too weak thanks to the loss of blood while the injury she sustained to the head caused her to be in a coma. A week had gone by but the pair kept tabs in case something good happened, but keeping Yugi and his friends thinking that she was recovering had proven to be harder than Mokuba had thought given how the group kept talking about how she would be up in no time. Just hearing those comments made Mokuba want to scream and tell the truth, that she was in a coma thanks to the injuries that she had sustained but knew it would worry Yugi even more given how troubled he looked. Not that Mokuba could blame him, witnessing that... if that had been Seto in Myra's situation Mokuba wouldn't know what to do and it scared him.
Yami stared defiantly at Yami Marik who ordered Ra to attack while Joey tried to free Mai who was being captive.
"I will get you out don't worry Mai" Joey said while he struggled on pulling the cuffs off of her wrists.
"Just save yourself Joey" Mai yelled before seeing Ra open it's mouth allowing them to see a fireball growing forming in it's mouth.
"That's enough!" Yami yelled at Marik as he spread his arms out to protect the pair.
"You cannot stop me Pharaoh she's going to the shadows- WHAT'S THIS?!" Yami Marik screamed as he shielded his eyes when a light formed in front of Yami. Due to how powerful the light was everyone covered it until it dimmed but still remained.
"YOU!" Marik yelled in anger "YOU WERE INJURED! HOW ARE YOU STANDING?! HOW DID YOU GET HERE?!" He added now feeling fear as Myra stood wearing a long ankle high white gown that was provided to her by Shadi after Marium escaped. Looking at him with distain she moves her head to look at Ra not caring that she had shocked everyone. Taking a deep breath and exhaling mutely she moved her hands but did not tear her eyes away. Yami and the others who were watching her determined expression were shocked at how she was not scared of standing in front of the God card.
"Ancient forces black and white
Course the scene across the sky
Hear my voice hear my cry
Shed light among the darkness
And aid my friends in their time of need
As I call forth thy name Winged Dragon of Ra!" she sighed with a confident look. Staring at her Ra observed her while the fireball continued to grow.
"It's useless! Whatever you are trying to do will not work" Marik gloated as he laughed however paused when she didn't staring at Ra.
"Stop it Ra! They're my friends, please don't so this!" Myra sighed rapidly while light shone more brightly but not enough to hurt anyone's eyes. Ra continued to allow the ball to grow, soon the ball fired only the size of the ball began to shrink until it destroyed the top part of the tablet sending Mai and Joey to the ground much to everyone's shock, startled Myra looked at Mai before looking at Ra with a grateful smile.
"WHAT IS THIS? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!" Marik was left stunned as Ra vanished but the life points Mai had were zero.
"How did Ra do that?" Mokuba asked before rushing to Myra as she stood facing Marik's dark side.
Myra nodded sharply at him with a cold look before her legs buckled causing her to fall, only before she could fall she felt large hands hold her in place while her head collided with something hard yet soft. Looking up with weakened eyes she saw Yami only he appeared blurry to her due to how frail she had become thanks to the lack of recovery.
"Stay with us Myra, we will get you help soon" Yami said while Mokuba called for Rolland to get a medical team to help. Looking at the people around them wearily she saw Marik now striding towards Mai with the rod causing her hear to leap in fear and panic. No... not another casualty to this thing!
"Please... don't let him hurt her... someone stop him" Myra pleaded before her eyes grew heavy as fatigue continued to overtake her.
"Myra? Myra stay awake what ever you do, do not pass out" Yami pleaded before her eyes closed.
"Enjoy your trip to the shadows Valentine" Marik mocked before his rod glowed however without warning a bright light that came from the right fired right between him and Mai causing him to take a few steps back to avoid being hit. Joey however pulled her away just in time before she could get hurt by either Marik or the strange blast which probably saved her.
"What is this? Who did-?" Marik looked round before seeing Myra's eyes only they were not brown- they were purple.
Her expression as she looked at him to his surprise was deathly calm and looked dangerous, as he observed her. She looked as if she was another person, the corners of her mouth as he watched her in shock twitched showing a smirk that only he saw before she passed out earning her a cry from her friends.
"You! What did you do?!" Yami Marik no longer wanting interest in Mai left to Joey, Tristian, Téa, Yami and Mai's relief. Seto however was barking orders to find out who and what caused the light beam to appear but to his dismay it could not be seen.
Picking her up Yami held her close and took her to the elevator.
"Kaiba, you told me she was going to be alright. What did the doctors actually say?" Yami asked as he saw Myra's weakened form, Seto however remained blank even though deep down he was worried and confused as to how she got on the blimp.
"Shouldn't you get her to the medical staff instead of wasting time taking to me?" Seto snapped, frowning at Seto Yami went to the elevator followed by a frantic Mai and Joey.
"Her vitals are weak at the moment, she would need bed rest for a while until she wakes up and can move properly" the doctor on board explained as Myra was in bed with an oxygen mask, an IV drip attached to her arm and a heart monitor beside her.
"This is my fault! Why didn't I go with them?!" Yugi cried in Yami's head.
"But she will recover right?" Mai asked cutting Joey off, her eyes went to Myra now feeling worry. She had saved her of all people somehow and now she was in this state.
"We did manage to spot the stitches that had broke apart so there shouldn't be any more problems, we just need to see when she would wake up" the doctor explained as Yami almost fell onto the chair as he felt his legs become weak, however he gripped the arms of the chair while Joey helped him stay up right. Not even Yami could drown out Yugi's horrified cries, the guilt the pair felt became overwhelming to the point Yami had to resist crying in frustration.
"Easy Yami, don't worry she will pull through. Just ya wait and see" Joey said with a smile as he saw the lost look on Yami's face which left him reminding himself of what happened with Serenity.
"How is she?" they turned to see a worried Mokuba standing beside the door with his head down.
"Mokuba what's the deal? I thought you said she was fine" Joey asked on Yami's behalf as the distraught male held Myra's semi cold hand. Mokuba winced as he kept his eyes down.
"The surgery had been a success but she had lost a lot of blood, she had a brain bleed from the impact which they spotted quickly but even after the surgery they told us she might not wake up" Mokuba admitted to the now pale group.
"She won't..." Yugi felt tears run down his cheeks as he turned to look at Myra once more, why hadn't they arrived sooner? Why didn't he get involved when he had the chance? Now she had upset her injuries and no doubt added more! How was he going to tell his family that she might not wake up?
"Say what?" Joey yelled in horror while Mai was left speechless. Yami gripped Myra's hand tightly as a rush of emotions consumed him to the point he wanted everyone to leave, he wanted her to be better. To wake up and be safe, no not just Myra but the spirit who was inhabiting the pendent around her neck. He wanted them both to be okay but how can they if they kept getting injured? Part of him wanted to hide them somewhere where no one could see them but the pair would somehow find away to escape to his dismay, images of the dead woman who had been filled with blood as she laid on the floor left him wanting to be sick and weep in despair. Why was this always happening? Why could he not save either of them?
"Marik has gone too far" Yami muttered angrily catching their attention, Mai bit her lip before seeing Tristan, Serenity and Téa enter the room. The first thing Serenity did when she saw the state of Myra was gasp in horror while covering her mouth, tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at everyone including the sombre look her brother was giving.
"The only thing I can say is you must defeat my brother" Ishizu said as she entered the room with a grave look on her face.
"Please tell us that she's going to be okay" Joey pleaded to the woman, to his dismay she shook her head leaving everyone at a loss of what to say.
"I have tried numerous times but the necklace has unable to detect what her future will be. It is like she is shrouded in something that I cannot see" Ishizu said softly before bowing at Yami. "A thousand apologies my pharaoh, I did not foresee that she would arrive and interfere in her state. It was almost as if she just appeared out of thin air" she admitted to her shame.
"It was not your fault" Mai said bitterly as she looked causing the Egyptian woman to look at her in surprise. "She got involved to help me, me of all people! I don't understand why though. What did she ever see in me?" Mai's voice shook leaving them all saddened to see her breakdown.
"Why is it that I cannot do anything by myself?" Mai snapped as she gripped her hands tightly.
"Myra saw you as a friend" Yami admitted silencing her. "She didn't always show it but she did look up to you. One time she told me that if she had a teacher like you who could teach her that just because she was a girl, she wouldn't need to hold back. That's why she took on Marik to save Joey and Téa..." he gritted his teeth as tears ran down his cheeks, his back was to the group in order to hide his face despite the fact his shoulders were shaking.
"She was tired of being made useless, she always wanted to do something to help" Yami's voice shook as admitted the truth he wanted to deny for a while, he remembered Yugi speaking to her about her insecurities after she suggested to teach him sign language. Staring at him in shock Mai slowly looked at the sleeping girl with mixed emotions until a soft smile formed.
"She is a real fighter... don't know how she made the light show up. But, she saved me so when she wakes up" Mai paused before sighing "tell her my thanks and I would love to duel her when she recovers" Mai said warmly before leaving the room. Slowly everyone left the room except Yami who remained by her side. Soon Yugi took over and went to close the door now that they were alone, hearing the door close his eyes grew heavy before he went to his seat and took her hand once more. A sniffle soon entered the room before he started to weep over the state she was in.
"She's so cold... even though the heart monitor is on... I still wonder if she is still alive or not" Yugi berated himself for being careless enough not to check and see for himself. Part of him had wanted to leave the tournament in order to find and see how she was but knew she would somehow kick him into continuing. After all there was more at stake than just her to his dismay.
"Please wake up soon Myra" he pleaded while crying.
Myra stood in a dark hallway wearing white ballet flats.
"Please wake up soon Myra" hearing Yugi's faint voice she turned around in surprise causing the dress to ruffle from the sudden movement.
"Y-Yugi?" she tilted her head with a slight frown only before she could move a step the shadows that lurked on the sides swarmed and surrounded her, this caused Myra to panic before blacking out completely.
Akefia sighed as he sat down in one of his hideouts.
"Nothing! That corpse didn't even have a single gold or precious item" he muttered as he placed a hand to his head while his right elbow was resting on his knee. "Can't even find things to sell" he huffed before a faint light outside caught his attention.
"Hmm?" Standing up Akefia kept his dagger on him as he looked out the open window only to blink in surprise.
"Am I imagining things?" Akefia thought as he saw what looked like the girl who had kicked him which resulted in him kidnapping her. Seeing how she appeared his eyebrows furrowed before groaning as he moved away.
"Nope! I am not helping! No" he shook his head before pausing as his back was to the window, part of him wanted him to scream in frustration. Why was she bothering him again of all people why?!
He stomped over to the window and glared at her, she wasn't moving which was good and yet bad since he wanted a Pharaoh supporter out of his hideout. Who knows what she would do when she woke up? Accuse him of taking her and reveal one of his hideouts by the dunes? In truth he liked this place and to have that taken from him made him mad. No he was kicking her away from his hideout-literally!
Storming out the hideout he glared.
"Alright you! Get up!" he yelled in anger before pausing now he could see her properly. Her head and her upper left arm were bandaged leaving him baffled. Who would dump her here? There was no way that she could make it over here now that he thought about it... so who put her here?
Akefia's face pales now seeing the lack of movement on her chest and groans loudly at how he was being dragged unto this mess.
"Horus! Alright fine I give!" Akefia snaps crossly before carefully picking up the surprisingly light girl, shaking thoughts out of his head he rushed inside to get her tended to. Her skin to his surprise had gotten pale while her scalp had beads of sweat running down her brow as she released weak breaths.
"Ra what did you do to yourself?" he muttered before moving her left hand. Suddenly imaged of being pushed into water filled his mind before feeling like someone had bashed the back of his head, at the same time Akefia had tried not to scream as pain flared through his upper left arm as something sharp shot right through it. Tears of pain filled his eyes before he looked at her weakly.
"That flipping hurts!" he gritted his teeth as he felt his arm to see no injury to his relief. Shaken but no longer seeing the images or feeling any pain he looked at her before getting up to grab his brown clay bowl and rushed out.
Akefia gritted his teeth as he spotted the signs of a possible sandstorm approaching as he arrived at an oasis, scooping up as much water as he could he carefully made it back before seeing her panting heavily. Frowning he grabbed the nearest clean cloth that he had, Akefia bit his lip as he dipped the cloth in the water and dabbed it lightly on her forehead. Worry soon filled him as he continued to treat Myra not noticing that it was getting dark nor did he care. As the evening wore on his head slowly laid on the side of the bed as he passed out on the makeshift bed. While Akefia slept his mind took him to a time when he was with his little sister who had been sick at one point and he had took it upon himself to look after her.
Akefia rubbing his stomach weakly as he looked at his food storage which was low grumbled, his mind went to how he had spent three days dealing with a passed out patient who showed no signs of getting better or waking up.
"I should have just left her outside" he muttered darkly as his back was to her only to pause as he heard ruffling behind him, Akefia was left baffled as he turned to see that she had no moved and yet he was sure that he heard something. Going closer he noticed that the blankets by her fingers had been disturbed causing his brows to go up in surprise. Especially since she had not moved an inch until... maybe now?
Sitting down with the thought of food leaving his mind Akefia observed her closely to see if she would wake up. Her eyelids did twitch a bit so that was a good sign? He hoped.
"Guess it's broth for me then due to the lack of food in this place. Honestly! Couldn't she have picked a better place to appear?" Akefia muttered bluntly as he got up to make whatever he could which was available.
Slowly Myra opened her eyes only to wince at the sharp light that hit her eyes causing her to shut them in reflex. Where was she?
Hearing a fire she opened her eyes slowly once more to see a red long jacket like item with some patterns on it being worn by someone who she couldn't make out. Myra exhaled through her nose heavily as she felt too tired to move, what she wanted to know was where she was and how she got here, did he help her?
Moving her short nails on the blanket Myra soon heard a scratchy noise caused by the material of the blanket, this however caught the person's attention as they turned their head quickly to look at her. Unfortunately the person who's face she saw was actually the last person she had expected to see.
"Finally awake huh?" he muttered glumly taking her surprise "is there a reason as to why you keep bothering me?" he added before scooping broth into a bowl, he paused as he saw her stunned expression which led him to huffing.
"Don't look at me, I didn't take you this time. You appeared here all by yourself" he added bluntly before sitting down, however being here nor hearing his explanation settled her mind. Seeing how she remained scared caused him to sigh and get up.
"Horus you are trouble" he muttered gruffly "at this rate I won't be able to eat at all" he added while sitting by her bed. Looking at the bowl with a glum look he then turned to look at her showing his expression.
"My guess is that you took a hit and got dumped here, am I close?" he asked while she just looked at him causing him to scowl. "Can't you even talk?" he asked crossly before she shook her head slightly, seeing this he frowned.
"Mind telling me what happened?" he asked now looking at the pot with his back to her before looking back at her to see that her eyes had closed. Raising a brow he stared at her blankly.
"Guess she was tired" he shrugged before taking a swig or his broth, sighing he looked up.
"Since she is alive, might as well go hunting" he muttered now relieved that he could get out and away from her for a bit.
Akefia grinned as he had two sacks containing gold and food while entering the hideout.
"This will keep me going for a week or two-huh?" Akefia pauses as he watched Myra trying to stand on shaky legs while placing the side of the make shift bed weakly. Raising a brow he looked at the sky quickly before looking at her. It hasn't been a day and already she was trying to get up.
"Finally up-HEY!" Akefia not knowing why had dropped the items that were over his shoulder and rushed to stop her from falling. "You are still weak, why are you pushing yourself?" he scolded at her for being careless still unable to understand why he was showing worry for the one who ruined his chance of revenge and yet, was it fate that she had intercepted his path or did the Gods have something in store for him which involved her? Regardless he pushed those thoughts to one side as he focused on one thing, getting this stubborn girl back in bed.
"Do you always push yourself?" he asked darkly once she was laying back down on the bed, looking at him weakly she touched her throat faintly with her fingertips. Seeing this left him baffled until he swallowed. Realising what she wanted he mentally slapped his head now knowing why she would get up.
"I will get you water" Akefia muttered before getting water into a cup he stole from a wealthy man who wouldn't notice until it was too late. Now helping her drink after helping her sit up did Akefia realise how thirsty she was which left him feeling stupid and guilty for not thinking.
"Of course! She has been sleeping for a long time, why didn't I think of that" he scolded himself before watching her choke and cough on the water. Hesitantly he placed his hand on her back and patted it lightly until she had settled. Looking at him she tried to breath normally before smiling for a brief moment to signal she was thankful for his help, seeing this he pauses from the smile before nodding briefly in return.
"I will let you rest for now, I will be cooking soon so I will wake you up when it's time" he added now trying to leave due to the uncomfortable feelings that were forming within him. Staring at him Myra blinked before slowly trying to lay down in order to rest, as she expected fatigue had filled her when she closed her eyes. Hearing no movement Akefia peeked behind his shoulder to see that she had gone back to sleep causing him to shake his head at the typical move.
"Wouldn't want her as a partner thief if she is easily injured, that's for sure" he muttered before cooking. "Who brought her here though?" he pondered to himself only to wince as he burned his finger near the flames after lighting the fire.
Akefia woke up after the third day to see the bed was empty. Curious he looked around until he noticed that it was daylight outside, stretching from sleeping on the blanket covered floor he looked around to see Myra taking a cup of water from the bowl before sitting down but slowly, seeing her wince he watched until she was sitting down and placed her legs straight in front of her. Akefia mentally released a very short chuckle at how she was determined to move even after her ordeal.
"She really is stubborn but she is determined that's for sure" he mused as he got up to drink as well.
"Sleep well in my bed?" he teased with a grin, Myra looked up at him before shrugging blankly at him causing his grin to vanish. "Can't even joke in my hideout Horus sake" he muttered while she still stared at him.
"Look girl I can't keep you here, very soon I need to leave since I have other things to do so the best I can do is drop you off at the nearest down" Alefia explained while she shrugged causing him to twitch "that means you have to fend for yourself" again she shrugged.
"No one will help you if a slave dealer catcher" Akefia warned but again to his annoyance she shrugged.
"Okay, what do you want with me? I can't take care of you" Akefia said with a frustrated expression. Lifting her hands she tilted her head while her mouth moved to one side. "Flipping..." he spotted an empty rolled up parchment and ink on his table, getting up he grabbed the items and handed them to her.
"Just write what you want to say already! Honestly it's like I am talking to myself here!" he whined, blinking she began to write.
"How do you think I feel? Me can't speak smarty, lost the ability to" she showed him causing him to twitch due to the insults she wrote down before swallowing his temper given her situation.
"How did that happen?" he asked leaving her confused, why was he being nice to her? Surely he would want her out of his life altogether? So why the sudden interest? Shrugging mentally to herself she responded.
"Had an accident in a tomb and saw something I shouldn't have" Akefia winced after reading, so much for not believing in divine punishment if she endured one for entering.
"So what did you steal?" he asked gruffly as he sat down near her.
"I was guided there but I had to pay a price for knowing what I saw" she wrote with a cryptic expression that left him staring at her oddly, normally he would have understood if she HAD stolen. Not that he would believe it give how she appeared to be however to see that and the result left him cross at how just one incident could ruin someone's life when they were just guided to a place, not knowing that it would be a trap altogether.
"Must have been bad" she shrugged at his comment.
"Hate it but now I know what a mute feels when they have to deal with being unable to speak or vocally say what I want to say" Akefia nodded knowing that would be vexing for anyone if they were blocked from something important. "Oh and spoke to Marium, she says the murders are connected" she wrote, Akefia seeing this blinks with baffled look on his face.
"Murders... are connected? Wait who murdered who?" he asks now giving her his full attention, biting her lip she looks at him after all this did include his father. That and she was sure Marium wanted to tell him personally but what were the chances of it happening? Seeing this as the chance to make things right Myra was determined to make it so.
"Some time after Ilayna had Marium, she was murdered when she went to the palace. Marium and the current Pharaoh suspect that she found out something bad and was silenced before it could be brought out to light" Myra wrote with a glum look on her face, Akefia however felt his eyes go wide as horror filled him. Only before he could speak she wrote more things down causing him to sit and wait until she was done.
"Marium also said that just five years after her mother's death the village where you were living in had been attacked and then years later the previous king had died but no one knew why. Marium however told me he found out something horrific, the stress and pain he felt must have put him into an early grave" she showed him, yes this was between her and Marium. But Myra knew that Marium would want Akefia aware, she wanted her friend aware of what was going on. Akefia however remained looking at the note in disbelief this had to be a joke right?
"That... that's just a coincidence" he muttered before seeing her expression.
"I heard that Ilayna, the previous pharaoh and your father had been close friends. Pretty funny that all three had died under strange circumstances, the current Pharaoh however didn't find it a coincidence. He's been trying to root out the traitor but there is no lead to go by" Myra placed the pen down and gave him a look.
"Even..." he pauses now feeling dread enter his system "even if this is true, what you're talking about is treachery. Who would have to gain for removing them?" Myra shrugged.
"That's what we three want to know, who would be bold enough to pull a stunt like that and not be spotted?" she added with a weary look that left him gulping, feeling suffocated from this knowledge that his father's death was in fact connected he stood up.
"I need some air" he left the hideout hastily leaving her to stare at his retreating form, not that she could blame him. Even she would want space after hearing this.
Akefia bit the end of his thumb nail in frustration as he watched the sun set, it did look wondrous and yet it reminded him of when the attack occurred- once the sun went down. He could still hear the screams and panics of those who tried to escape or were attacked without mercy, he... he knew that the pharaoh had done this, he knew why and yet... just reading the girl's writing. Knowing Marium, a girl who he never forgot and... her accursed husband were trying to find some kind of lead. What was to know? The previous king did it! The solders declared it so, so why was Marium and the girl trying to find something that wasn't there?
"Who would be bold enough?" Akefia muttered grudgingly, say if he some how 'believed' them. What was to gain from the massacre? In the end the pharaoh had the items at his disposal so the culprit had to have known it would be pointless to fool the pharaoh... but Ilayna- Marium's mother had been killed and her body remained undiscovered to this day.
Closing his eyes Akefia sighed.
"What did she find out? It had to be important?" he muttered before seeing a man wearing noble robes among the solders, to Akefia's dismay he remembered returning to his home only it was burned to cinders. However there had been a small burned note that said 'pharaoh', had he misunderstood? Biting his lip Akefia went indoors, time to leave the dunes after all.
Blinking in surprise Myra watched Akefia packing his stuff up the next day but didn't move, even as he hoisted the bags onto the horse's back. Soon after he was packed he turned to look at her with a frown. He couldn't leave her really, how would she survive? Not to mention that was twice the pair had met up under strange circumstances, coincidence? He doubted it. But if he could humour her then he might as well send a message to Marium and let her know he was willing to give this a chance, to find out if he could also give any ideas after all he was the king of thieves. He knew people and places that others would hide in when it involved their secrets or dodgy dealings. In truth he would give them a month at best, if there was nothing then he would continue his plans of killing the pharaoh as the evidence of any conspiracy which would mean that there would be no mercy for them. What would he do with the girl though? Keep her as a servant? He doubted it.
"Are you just going to stand here? We have to go now!" Akefia yelled as he placed is hood up, staring at him Myra remained still causing him to groan "look do you want to find the answers to this 'plot' or not?" Akefia snapped startling her, for some reason a smirk almost formed on his face at seeing her looking startled.
"Hurry then" he beckoned her over and to his surprise she jumped causing Akefia to panic slightly and catch her. "Oi-Mind not doing that?" he muttered before helping her onto the horse.
"No stealing okay" she wrote causing his brows to go up as he made the horse trot forward after turning it to face the direction of the city.
"I'm the king of thieves! It's part of my job description" he barked crossly at what she was suggesting- what a ludicrous thing to say!
"Get another job then, stealing from one person is like stealing from everyone. That includes Marium idiot" she wrote causing him to glare.
"Want me to shove you off the horse?" he spat crossly.
"Want to be in Marium's good graces?" Myra challenged to his anger.
"I am not giving up my title or my role" he huffed while the horse continued to walk.
"I will leave if you don't, besides how will you blend in if you get your face known? It defeats the object you know" she added with a raised brow, Akefia grinned at the challenge.
"I can blend in just fine, you on the other hand… being mute will make you more noticeable" he commented before seeing her glaring at him "hey it's true"
"NO STEALING!" she wrote furiously causing him to groan.
"Are you going to be like this for the rest of the trip?" he asked now feeling a headache coming along.
"NO STEALING!" she pointed sharply on the papyrus to his dismay.
"Ugh! Fine! I won't steal happy now?" Akefia snapped before giving her a dark look to which she responded with a cross look of her own.
"Until I know you're being truthful no" she wrote crossly causing him to move his head back and groan.
"Horus give me strength!" he whined before pausing as he spotted something from the corner of his eye, seeing something he paused the horse after spotting a set of rocks.
"Why did we stop?" Myra asked with a baffled look on her face before he placed the items down on her lap.
"Bandits… keep quiet" he muttered before getting off the horse, he then guided it to sit down so he could grab his sword. "Anything happens, get the horse to run. I can take care of things here" he muttered to her confusion, looking up slightly she spotted a caravan of about ten people and blinked. Starting at them she sensed that someone was distressed.
"Someone has been captured by them, shouldn't we help?" Myra asked looking worried, seeing this he almost laughed.
"Girl, slaves that are caught unwillingly are part of this life we live in. People steal, plot, lie, cheat, enslave and do anything to get what they want here. There are so few that really are honest and they hardly last long anyways if they're considered a threat" Akefia explained before seeing the caravan of people set up near the oasis nearby.
"Doesn't make it right you know! No one likes to be enslaved or hurt!" she added "please help the person, they're in danger" Myra wrote causing him to frown.
"In danger… from what?" he asked before shaking his head "Let me guess I can't steal a horse either? How are we going to escape with three people and my items that are on this horse? Do you see the logic?" he asked sharply but her expression left him grumbling.
"Fine I'll get the person, but I am stealing a horse" he huffed, not that she was complaining.
"Not before trying to steal your sanity when I get my hands on you if you think about stealing their loot!" she mentally signed with a glare. At first nothing was happening, the bandits were happy and laughing about their latest raid on which village they just left from causing Myra to glare. Maybe using her powers wasn't such a bad idea after all, only before she could think she blinked in surprise as she saw Akefia sneak into the base and continued to head towards where the distressed voice was. Biting her lip Myra watched as she observed the bandits to see none were aware of his attempts but were too busy laughing loudly, gloating and drinking to celebrate. Shaking her head she sighed mutely at the disgraceful lot.
"HEY OUR HORSES ARE MISSING!" a bandit yelled causing her to bristle as she watched the group act and begin searching.
"They couldn't have gone far!" one barked not seeing Akefia nearby with someone who was coated in darkness thanks to the fact the sun had set an hour ago. However that didn't stop Myra from panicking. What if the pair got caught?! Akefia is the king of thieves, so why wasn't he just making deals or something? Were these bandits foreign or something? Biting her lip she saw a bandit was close to the pair which left Myra's heart plummeting.
"Ditch this!" Myra closed her eyes and concentrated before opening her eyes to reveal light purple blue irises, just as the bandit turned a corner he did not notice Akefia or the person beside him looking at the bandit in shock. Not once did the bandit notice or see them but instead walked past.
"All clear, I can see no one!" the bandit yelled before running towards the group, not wasting time Akefia got them on the stolen horse and raced towards where Myra was and no sooner had they arrived he leapt off the horse.
"Myra… please come back" a voice startled Myra enough to look behind her, was it Yugi? Or was it the pharaoh? Why-how were they managing to call her?
"I don't know how I escaped that but let's get going" Akefia hissed as he grabbed the reigns of the stolen horse and pulled the horse so it was following them while the captured person remained still, most likely from shock. "Okay girl-hey…where are you?" Akefia looked round to see that Myra was missing causing him to swallow thickly. Did she just vanish? How? He would have noticed!
Myra soon scrunched her eyes before opening them to see a relieved Yugi staring at her with wide but happy eyes.
"M-Myra you're awake!" Yugi started crying as he took her hand in both his hands and placed them near his cheek. "Please… don't do anything like that again! If you died… if you never woke up, I'd never forgive myself" Yugi cried to her surprise any yet she was too tired to do anything, instead she stared at him with half lidded eyes. How long had she been asleep? Wait- where was Akefia and that woman? Were they okay?! Why was she sent back? Did that mean she wasn't needed?
"I though Marium was the only one who could send me back" Myra exhaled before looking at Yugi, she sensed Marium's surprise but relieved presence.
"I thought that we lost you Myra, I'm so glad your body is getting better again" Marium said with a soft smile that had Myra nodding but smiling in return.
"What did I miss?" she signed weakly causing Yugi to blink.
"Ah! Kaiba resumed the tournament, he defeated Ishizu and she handed me her necklace" Yugi showed her the item to which Myra acknowledged. "Mai is safe thought thanks to you and she wants to thank you" hearing this Myra shook her head and smiled softly.
"More than happy to save a friend" Myra commented causing him to chuckle weakly.
"I know, but please don't do anything reckless again. I really did think that I had lost you" Yugi admitted, smiling faintly she squeezed his hand lightly. "Kaiba has everyone in their rooms until we've arrived somewhere now that he, Marik, Joey and I are in the semi finals but who knows when we will continue" Yugi mused before looking at her tired form.
"You should rest, I'll continue to stay here so you can relax just in case Marik shows up" Myra frowned but nodded, slowly she closed her eyes until night filled the room. The night sky filled the room leaving Myra who was now awake with a calm feeling relaxed until she saw Téa only she could sense that something was amidst.
"Please… I need your help, you and my sister are the only ones who can help me hide Odion" Marik's voice caused her to frown. It was no secret that the darkness would kill Odion but asking her of all people why?
"What do you have to gain for asking me?" Myra signed, looking at her Marik sighed heavily but was careful as to not awaken Yugi who was sleeping with his head on her bed.
"You know how to hide things… I want to stop my dark side at all cost, yes this was all my doing but I want to do the right thing" Marik admitted causing her to raise a brow "and… I'm sorry for putting you in this state" Marik looked away causing her to stare blankly.
"Fine, by the way… we both knew you could understand sign language. That was just rude" she commented before slipping out of bed, this time her body didn't tremble but instead of being weak was now stronger after resting properly.
"S-Sorry, I crossed the line" Marik admitted as he made Téa look away weakly.
"You definitely did, now take me to Odion and your sister" Myra said before the pair left the room.
Myra once she hid Odion smirked as she heard Yami Marik scream in anger as he was unable to kill Odion again, looking at the crystal she had borrowed from Lily she saw Yami Marik ranting about not being able to find Odion. Soon she looked at a worried Ishizu and a possessed Téa who looked slightly relieved but worried as well.
"Will Odion be safe if you hide him here?" Ishizu asked as they were now in a sealed off room that was located in Seto's quarters.
"Of course! I just left a note for Mokuba to make sure that no one would come here, when it's time Odion should wake up but he needs to heal after being hit by lightning thanks to someone in this room" Myra leered at a guilty Marik.
"I deserved that…" he muttered before the trio were teleported to Ishizu's room.
"Didn't say that you didn't" Myra commented before bidding the pair farewell "oh and give Téa back her body you perv!" she signed crossly causing his face to go red.
"H-Hey!" he cried before grumbling as he went to Téa's room and relinquished control of her body knowing his brother was now safe. Now closing the door to the room she was once in with Yugi Myra exhaled before looking at Yugi's sleeping form.
"I feel tired and I didn't do much" Myra trudged closer towards her bed now wanting to sleep, she soon heard a soft chuckle in her ears.
"Well you did use your powers, but at least the darkness cannot touch Odion… as much as I would want Marik to suffer, Odion is an innocent" Marium commented which Myra agreed indefinitely. Yawning mutely Myra nestled in her bed before closing her eyes knowing that Yugi was asleep. Although… she did wish he would go to his room to sleep so he wouldn't get a crick in his neck but in the end it was his choice.
Myra stood facing a green haired boy with sadness, to think that he was risking what was left of his existence just to redeem himself. Still… it didn't have to end like this.
"I can get you out of this mainframe, but we only have a split second which can help you stop your father" Myra wrote with a determined look that left him stunned.
"What… what do you have in mind?" the boy asked before she showed him something that left his eyes going wide in surprise.
"I can store and keep you safe until it is time to get you to Mokuba, he is the reason why you want to make things right, right?" Myra asked as he remained still before nodding stiffly, he looked away due to shame.
"I should hate Seto… but in the end I know I was just being used, I want to stop my father" the boy replied causing her to smile.
"Perfect, I'll do what I can Noah" she said before vanishing after handing him something. Noah looked at the item with worry, should he cling on to hope? This… it seemed so simple but maybe it was, what else did he have to lose?
Myra watched the explosion fade away before seeing a faint red glow in her pocket and knew instantly that her phone was being used. Smiling mentally she looked at Yugi how was trying to recover from his ordeal along with the others.
"Best get the phone checked out, we don't want it fried anytime soon" Marium instructed.
"I know, good thing I know someone who's good with electronics. At least now I know why he gave me this" Myra replied before leaving the room to rest, once in her room she looked at the black phone which was now glowing green and nodded.
"Hang in there Noah, once I get the phone seen to you'll be able to recover properly I promise" Myra vowed before looking at the window. Sensing Marik was about to enter the room she frowned until she heard Yugi's voice nearby which left the evil spirit growling before walking away.
"Are you still feeling tired?" Yugi asked as he entered the room and sat down, Myra watched him try to breathe after running from the control room.
"In a manner, I didn't want to bother anyone since you all endured a lot… sorry I couldn't be more of help" Myra said before pressing a few buttons on her phone causing it to go to sleep mode so it didn't overheat from usage, Yugi blinked in surprise.
"Knowing you were safe here Myra, that kept my mind at ease to be honest" Yugi said while looking down "it's bad enough everyone else was in danger but to know that you're still recovering and were being forced into a situation that could hurt you… I would rather you were here" Yugi admitted, not that Myra could blame him. Even she wanted a break but had snuck out to help without him noticing, but knowing that she had helped somehow left her at ease.
"I would rather have been there to help, I do know what you mean Yugi" Myra admitted with a sad look before she gripped the sheets with one hand.
"I know you want to be out there helping Myra but please" Yugi took her hands in his, his eyes were now filled with sadness and worry "don't do anything that would endanger yourself, I know I'm going to be in danger because of the puzzle but-" her eyes left him feeling guilty.
"I am in just as much danger, friends stick together Yugi. Don't shut me out okay? You've allowed everyone else so why am I being put in the sidelines? If the roles were reversed would you be happy being in my position?" Yugi bit his lip as he grew conflicted.
"No… No I wouldn't, but Myra… at least don't do anything that would be life threatening" Yugi pleaded.
"Yugi we're facing bad people almost everyday, heck we have a psychotic guy on the blimp who tried to hurt everyone including Mai! But has that stopped us?" Yugi paused before smiling faintly. "As long as we stick together and trust each other, we'll be fine" Myra nodded firmly causing him to nod.
"Yeah… I know, let's just rest for now. It won't be long before Kaiba resumes the tournament and who knows what Marik has in store for us" Yugi said weakly before letting Myra rest in her bed.
"Go to your bed as well, I'll be fine" Myra gave him a stern look that had him relenting.
"Just be careful… if Marik shows up get help" Yugi pleaded before leaving the room, seeing that he was gone Myra shook her head and closed the door using her powers.
"As if he'll get in, he's too scared anyways" Myra signed with a bland look.
"Actually he's more of cautious and wants to hurt us more than ever, I think your powers have left him wanting to go after you in order to obtain them" Marium explained.
"Let him, I'll just send a card after him" this left the pair smiling before Myra went to sleep. It wouldn't be long until the tournament was over and she could only hope that Yugi and Yami could defeat the darkness. Marium meanwhile watched Myra sleep before concern and worry filled her, just watching the whole event through the crystal left Marium on edge. She trusted Yami and the others to come out safe but it didn't leave her completely at ease knowing that things did go wrong and could have gotten worse. She now looked at the sky before retreating to her room in order to rest.
