[Scene: Restaurant space. Piper, Leo, and Melinda are there. Piper is holding Melinda.]
Piper: Paige!
Leo: Piper, you don't need to call your sister. We can handle this ourselves.
Piper: No, there will be no handling, Leo. Answers. There will be answers. Paige!
Leo: Paige won't know anything-
Piper: No, but she can take you to the people that do. Paige!
(Piper puts Melinda into a chair. Paige orbs in.)
Paige: You call….? Whoa! Extreme Makeover: Restaurant Edition.
(Melinda starts orbing the chairs and moving them around, laughing.)
Paige: Is Melinda doing that? She shouldn't be able to do that.
Piper: I know.
Paige: Leo's wings were clipped. He was a human when she was conceived.
Piper: I know.
Paige: The only way she could be part-Whitelighter is if…. Piper, you didn't!
Piper: I…. No!
(Melinda orbs a pot and spoon to herself.)
Leo: There's probably a perfectly rational explanation.
(Melinda starts banging the spoon on the pot.)
Piper: Such as?
Leo: I was a Whitelighter much longer than I was human. Probably something in my DNA passed on to Melinda.
Piper: I want to know for sure. Paige, please take my husband up to the Elders.
Leo: I don't know if I'm welcome up there.
Paige: It's okay. Things are different. You'll see.
(Paige and Leo orb out.)
[Scene: The Heavens. Paige and Leo orb in.]
Leo: Well, it does look different.
(A female Elder walks over to them.)
Elder: Paige? What is he doing up here?
Paige: He had some questions, Iota.
Leo: Melinda can orb, which should be impossible because I wasn't a Whitelighter or an Elder when she was conceived. I was just a regular human.
Iota: You were a Whitelighter longer than you were human. There was bound to be some transfer of traits through your DNA.
Paige: See? Just like you thought. Perfectly normal.
Leo: Except that she's lying. The Elders clipped my wings! They stripped me of my powers! I can't just pass them on to my children! Not unless the Elders made it happen for some reason. I want to know what's going on.
[Scene: Restaurant space. Prue, Piper, and Phoebe are there. Piper is fixing the chairs.]
Phoebe: You weren't kidding when you said Melinda was orbing.
Piper: At least now I know for sure who was behind those vines attacking me a few months back. How did you two get through the teleporting stage?
Prue: Like everything else in our lives.
Phoebe: Grin and bear it.
(The chairs that Melinda stacked comes crashing down.)
Piper: Look out!
(Piper freezes the chairs.)
Prue: And a nice glass of pinot noir didn't hurt.
(Prue, Piper, and Phoebe go back to fixing the chairs.)
Piper: It's not like I haven't been through this before, but I was hoping to get the restaurant up and running first.
Phoebe: As we've learned, magic will pop up when we least expect it.
Piper: I expected her to just be a witch. Maybe freeze things like me.
Prue: Maybe she still will. We're in uncharted territory here. Who knows what could happen next?
Piper: That's what I'm afraid of. (They finish cleaning everything up.) Much better.
(Melinda orbs some more chairs and Piper sighs.)
[Scene: The Heavens. Paige and Leo are talking to Iota.]
Iota: What I said about passing on your abilities to Melinda was partially true. The magic came from inside you. With or without your wings, you're still something more than human. (They all sit down.) But you're also right. You can't just pass along those abilities. The Elders gifted Melinda with those powers.
Paige: Why?
Leo: So she would be twice-blessed.
Iota: Yes. And not just Melinda. Chris too. Pagan, Tamora, Kat, P.J., and of course Phoenix, Persephone, and Wyatt…. All of them are now twice-blessed, and so will be any children that the Charmed Ones have. They're an even more powerful force of good than the Charmed Ones.
Paige: You can't be serious.
Iota: All of the Charmed Ones' children will also have access to the Power of Three, so long as there are three. So right now, only Prue's and Piper's children have it. But if you have another child, Paige…. Or if Phoebe has more children….
Paige: No. I won't let it happen. Piper is going to…. I won't let it happen.
Iota: What's done is done, Paige. It can't be undone.
Paige: Like hell it can't.
Leo: The Elders make up the rules as they go along.
Iota: Exactly the reason for the changes up here. The Council of Elders interfered in the course of human events one too many times. They were replaced by a new council. We've returned to our primary purpose: To guide, not interfere.
Leo: I'll believe it when I see it.
Paige: Are our children going to be targets for every evil being that comes down the pike? I won't allow it.
Iota: The children are safe, Paige. The former Elders had this wiped from their memories. The new council doesn't know about it. I'm the only one. I've been chosen as a new liason to the Charmed Ones. (to Leo) And their Whitelighter. I've been given permission to restore your wings. I can make you the guardian of the Charmed Ones again, protecting the innocent, training your children to carry on the fight.
Leo: I'm already doing that teaching at Magic School.
Iota: I'm afraid that's not enough. Rennek is back.
Paige: Rennek? Who's that?
Leo: A darklighter. He killed more white magic practitioners than any of his kind. I fought him for decades. Being assigned to the Charmed Ones was my reward for finally destroying him.
Iota: It seems that reward might have been premature. He's still alive. And he's killed dozens of Whitelighters in the last few months. We don't know what he's up to.
[Scene: Vampire lair. Rennek is there with an army of demons.]
Demon: I don't like this. We have no cause to wage war with the vampires.
Rennek: I have no intention of waging war. This will simply be a massacre.
(Rennek sends the army to massacre the vampires while he goes after the Queen, killing vampires on the way. He fires an arrow at the Queen, but she dodges and the arrow decapitates another vampire. He fires another and she catches it in both hands.]
Vampire Queen: You missed.
Rennek: Wasn't trying to kill you. (He chases her to a dead end.) Not yet.
(The vampire Queen holds up her hands in surrender.)
Vampire Queen: Why do you attack, Darklighter? We have done you no harm.
Rennek: True. But you've upset a friend of mine.
(Neena appears behind him.)
Neena: Now, now, Lorna. You're only Queen of the vampires because of the powers I gave you. All I asked for was your allegiance in return.
Lorna: I might be willing to discuss your offer further.
Neena: I did not travel halfway around the world to talk.
(She holds up a fist and vines surround and impale Lorna, vanquishing her.)
[Scene: Restaurant space. Kitchen. Prue, Piper, Phoebe, and Melinda are there, Piper holding Melinda.]
Piper: Not the knives!
(Phoebe moves the knives away.)
Piper: Sorry, baby. Mommy didn't mean to yell like that. But knives are bad. Orbing is not bad, exactly, but something you shouldn't do until you're older.
(Piper puts Melinda in a chair.)
Prue: At least she didn't conjure up a dragon.
Piper: Don't give her any ideas.
(Melinda starts to orb Prue, Piper, and Phoebe out.)
Prue: Looks like she's got her own.
(They orb out.)
[Cut to outside the closed kitchen. Prue, Piper, and Phoebe orb in.]
Piper: You know, weird things have been happening for months. (Piper opens the kitchen door to see Melinda orbing things again.) Little things, here and there. Not enough to confirm that it was Melinda. (Melinda starts orbing the chairs again.) Then suddenly this.
(Melinda orbs something straight at Phoebe and she ducks.)
Phoebe: Why now? What's changed?
Piper: That's it! I hid her binky. (She gives Melinda the binky back and she instantly calms down and falls asleep. Piper puts her in a baby carrier and covers her with a blanket.) I knew it was too early to start weaning her off the pacifier.
Phoebe: Proving you don't always have to fight magic with magic.
[Scene: The Heavens. Paige and Leo are speaking with Iota.]
Iota: Take some time. Think it over.
Leo: I don't need time. The answer is no. I don't want to be a Whitelighter again. I'm happy being a normal mortal. I want to grow old with my wife. To move on before my children grow old and die in front of my eyes.
Iota: Leo, Rennek might be up to something major. We could use your help.
Leo: You'll have it. Whatever you need. Just without the strings attached.
Paige: Can't you guys just give him some powers, but not all that other junk that comes with it?
Iota: Sorry, Paige. If we reawaken his powers, it's all or nothing.
Paige: These dormant powers…. Could he tap into them on his own someday?
Iota: No, Paige, this isn't a simple binding spell. When a Whitelighter's wings are clipped, only the Elders can reinstate him. Leo, this offer won't be made again. Take some time to think about it.
Leo: Sorry, but my family needs me more. I'll continue to train the next generation. But I'm growing old with my wife.
Iota: When you die, this time it will be for good. You won't be made a Whitelighter again.
Leo: Wouldn't have it any other way.
[Scene: Halliwell Manor. Nursery. Piper and Leo are watching Melinda sleep in her crib.)
PIper: She looks just like an angel when she's sleeping. Well, half-angel.
Leo: Are you sure you're okay with this?
(They leave the room with their arms around each other, heading downstairs.)
Piper: What choice do we have? But that's a better question for you. Are you okay with it?
(They go downstairs and into the living room, hand in hand.)
Leo: I'm mad at the Elders for putting our kids in danger.
Piper: Yeah, but we're kind of used to being mad at the Elders. (They sit down on the couch.) It's not fair, them making you choose again.
Leo: Yeah, but it feels like it's really my choice this time. The Elders took control of our lives when they forced me to clip my wings. At least now I've decided of my own free will.
PIper: But what if we need to protect the kids?
(PIper lays against Leo.)
Leo: Then it's a good thing their moms and their aunts are the most powerful witches in the world. There's nothing you can't handle.
{Scene: Cave. Neena and Rennek are there.}
Neena: With the vampires no longer a concern, I think the demons are ready to move on with my plan.
Rennek: Having them destroy a nest of vampires was good practice. But I do wonder….
Neena: What, Rennek?
Rennek: Oh, nothing, really. Just what would the demons do if they knew the truth about who they're working for? (Neena glares at him.) That's right, Neena… or Victoria… or Isabel, I know what you really are.
