Last Witch Effort
[Scene: Halliwell Manor. Attic. Prue, Piper, Phoebe, Cole, and Coop are there. Piper and Coop are cleaning the attic.]
Piper: I thought Sam's healing power would bring Paige out of this coma thing.
Prue: Bringing him here was a total waste.
Coop: Having Paige's father around is bound to help.
Cole: At least now we have a way to contact the other Whitelighters in hiding.
Piper: Leo is still missing and we don't even know what's going on with Paige.
[Cut to Piper's Room. Paige is lying on the bed, unconscious. Richard and Sam are with her, kneeling beside the bed, Richard holding Paige's hand.]
Sam: We'll figure something out, Richard. I promise.
Richard: Uh-huh. Sure.
[Scene: The afterlife. Paige and Grams are there.]
Paige: If I'm not dead yet, how do I keep it that way?
Grams: We need to get your spirit back to your body. We're just not sure how.
Paige: We?
Grams: The Elders have moved on.
Paige: They're gone?
Grams: They're someplace in between, like you. But they still have their physical bodies. If you go into the light without your corporeal form, I'm not sure if you'd be able to return to it.
[Scene: The Heavens. Neena is holding the orbs.]
Neena: The upper regions and the underworld. Separate forces in constant battle. Today I will break down the barriers between the two, uniting what was divided, making them one.
(She places the orbs on some contraption.)
Leo: Good and evil can't come together like this. They'll destroy each other. It will devastate the Earth.
Neena: Not my problem.
Leo: You'll be destroyed along with everyone else.
Neena: No, actually, I won't. The unification should open a portal to the higher realm. I can reclaim my place with the All, and be with my love.
Leo: Neena, I know this isn't you.
Neena: No, it isn't me. It's what they made me, what the Elders and the Angels of Destiny created when they shaped the world around me. I'm tired of fate dictating everything, messing with our children, my children.
Leo: Dozens of innocents have died, and Whitelighters, most of them your descendants, your children.
Neena: Ah, but I never killed anyone good. I only killed the evil… and the annoying. The rest I left to my helpers. (Neena goes back over to the orbs.) I played by the rules, until now. "Lungo Iunxi Iunctum." (She fuses the orbs, merging the Heavens and the Underworld.) Welcome to my new world order.
[Scene: The afterlife. Paige and Grams feel the shift.]
Paige: This can't be good.
[Scene: Halliwell Manor. Attic. Prue, Piper, Phoebe, Cole, and Coop are there. There is a bad storm raging outside. Richard walks in.]
Richard: What's going on now? It's crazy outside.
Piper: We don't know, Richard! We don't have all the answers! I'm sorry. It's just….
(The doorbell rings.)
Phoebe: That's Dad. We should get it before he wakes the kids.
Richard: Or comes face to face with the Whitelighter his wife replaced him with.
(Richard leaves to get the door.)
Coop: Is he going to be okay?
Phoebe: I don't know if any of us are.
[Cut to the parlor. Richard answers the door to let Victor in.]
Victor: It's not a fit night out for man nor beast. Good thing I had an umbrella in the car.
(Victor closes the umbrella as he walks in.)
Richard: Hey, Victor. The kids are asleep in the living room.
(They check in the living room. Phoenix, Persephone, Wyatt, Pagan, and Chris are asleep in sleeping bags. Melinda, Tamora, and Kat are asleep in the playpen. P.J. and the other baby are asleep in separate bassinets.)
Victor: Slumber party?
Richard: We thought it was a good way to keep their minds off everything.
Victor: I take it there's no news about Paige?
Richard: Nothing.
Victor: It will be okay. The girls have been through this before. They'll figure something out.
Richard: People keep telling me that, like those words magically make everything better.
Victor: I know that look.
Richard: What look?
Victor: Listen, I know how this begins. I've been there. The challenges my wife faced weren't nearly as bad as what the Charmed Ones have to deal with. I turned my back on my family. On my children. Patty gave up Paige because of the magic. That was also for the wrong reason. You may feel useless without your magic, but you're not. You give Paige strength. You allow her to do the things she does.
Richard: I know, but-
Victor: You may not have your powers, you may not have your magic, but you are part of her strength. She needs you more than you need magic.
Richard: Thank you. I had to hear that.
Victor: Don't think I've solved all your problems. There will be dark times. I live in fear for my daughters every day. Paige as well. These girls make me so proud with the things they do. And I know that they need me as much as the world needs them. Now you go upstairs and be there for Paige. I've got the kids.
Richard: Thank you, Victor.
Victor: Before you go…. By my count, we're one child extra. Who's the little guy?
Richard: Richard Jr.
[Scene: Halliwell Manor. Attic. Prue, Piper, Phoebe, Cole, and Coop are there.]
Phoebe: It's getting worse out there.
(Richard walks in.)
Richard: Sam's keeping an eye on Paige and Victor's got the kids, so we can get down to business.
Coop: Wow. Your attitude has changed in the last two minutes. Were you possessed?
Richard: Just needed an adjustment. Any ideas on contacting Paige?
Prue: Wherever Paige is, she can't hear us.
Cole: You'd think with the bond from the Power of Four, you'd be able to call out to one another.
Piper: It doesn't work that way.
Prue: Maybe it can. Give me your hands. (The sisters join hands.) Repeat after me. "Hear now the words of the witches, the secrets we hid in the night. The oldest of gods are invoked here, the great work of magic is sought. In this night and in this hour/We call upon the ancient power/Bring together we sisters four/Embrace the power/Unite the power."

Prue: Paige? Can you hear us? Please tell me you can hear us.
Paige: Prue!
Piper/Phoebe: Paige?
Paige: Piper. Phoebe.
Piper: Can you hear us?
Phoebe: Paige, is that really you?
Paige: Of course it's me. Who else would it be? You're the ones that set up this conference call. How are you doing this?
Prue: I took a chance that our connection would bring us together. Where are you?
Paige: I'm with Grams. We're…. Well, it's kind of hard to explain.
Phoebe: Things are getting bad here.
Paige: What's happening?
Phoebe: Far as I can tell, the world is coming to an end.
Piper: Where's Leo, Paige?
Paige: He's still with Neena and Rennek in the upper regions. I hope. Anything could have happened up there by now.
[Scene: The Heavens.]
Rennek: Remember back in the eighties when I got those zombies to remake the Thriller video? That kind of thing would go viral today. The video and the zombies.
Leo: I'm not in the mood to reminisce, Rennek. The world is coming apart at the seams.
Rennek: Really? Hadn't noticed.
Leo: What are you getting out of this? Everything is going to be destroyed.
Rennek: I get what's left.
Neena: I thought a former Whitelighter/Elder would understand. It's a chance to start again. Free will. No more Elders telling everyone what to do, no more Grand Design.
Leo: The Elders were already changing things. There was a new council, new rules.
Neena: How long before they fell back to the old patterns? This way my children have a chance to live freely. Well, the survivors do. I return to where I belong, reunited with my love. Win-win.
Rennek: Really, Leo, it makes perfect sense. Why did we fight for so many decades?
Leo: Because you're a murderer.
Rennek: Aside from that. Why did I kill? Why were you so focused on stopping me? Because those were the rules. It was the roles we played. The way we were defined.
Leo: We define ourselves. I was a good person before I turned into a Whitelighter.
Neena: And look how you were rewarded. Kept from the woman you love. Put on ice. Your children manipulated, nearly killed. They're still lying to you, you know. (Leo looks at her in confusion but she just continues.) I can change that once I'm back with the All. With my love, we can take the power, take control.
Leo: What if we don't want to start again? You're no different from the Elders, or the Angels of Destiny. You just want to be the one to make the rules.
Neena: I'd say I earned that right. But don't worry. I'm just going to do this one little thing and then leave the Earth back to whoever wants it. It's time for the inmates to run the asylum. It won't be long before the real fun begins.
[Scene: Halliwell Manor. Attic. Prue, Piper, Phoebe, Cole, Coop, and Richard are there. Prue, Piper, and Phoebe are still talking to Paige telepathically.]
Piper: I don't like it. I don't like it at all.
Paige: I'm not crazy about it either, but we have to be ready for whatever Neena is planning.
Prue: It's our only shot.
Phoebe: Yeah. We can't keep this connection open any longer. It's taking too much effort.
Prue: Do what you have to do to get back to us.
Prue/Piper/Phoebe: We love you.
Paige: I love you too.
(They break the connection.)
Richard: So?
Phoebe: Richard, there's something we have to tell you.
[Scene: The afterlife.]
Grams: Are you ready for this?
Paige: No. But it's the only option. (Paige and Grams go into the light, coming out into what looks like the attic of the manor.) Did we do it wrong? Am I back home?
Grams: No. You've moved on.
Patty: Don't worry, dear. It's not permanent. At least, I hope it's not.
Paige: Mom! (Paige and Patty hug.) So this place is….?
Patty: Whatever you want to call it.
Paige: Are my parents here? The ones that raised me?
Patty: Oh, Paige. I wish there was time. But the longer you're here, the more difficult it will be to return you to your body.
Grams: Now I think you'll be impressed with what we have managed to pull together.
(They walk into a room that is full of Warren witches.)
