Chapter 7

"Come on, Pittoo," Pit shouted, trying to pull the bed sheets from his twin's grasp. "Get up. You have to be ready for the next Light versus Dark match!"

"It's only 7am, Pit Stain, let me sleep," Dark Pit grumbled, half-heartedly swatting Pit away.

"I could always get the rest of your team to drag you out to the arena in your pyjamas if you insist on being such a bedhead," the light angel teased, but then he had an idea. "Or better yet, I could just tell the buffet staff to skip making waffles today. Your choice, Pittoo."

With that, he left the dark angel to his own devices. Slowly and unwillingly, he got up and dressed and made it to the arena in time to select a weapon before the first match began. He endured five matches before everyone took a break to get something to eat. He took his usual plate full of waffles and went back to Palutena's Temple to the infirmary. He walked over to the bed where Alexis' body laid, although it had long since gone cold and he very well knew that she was dead, but a small part of him refused to believe that it had really happened. As he sat there, he noticed something was different than when he checked in on her last night. There were two different coloured feathers in either of her hands. In the right, there was a white feather, and a black in the left. It's when Dark Pit felt two hands grab his ankles and pull him down to the floor that he realized something was up.

"Who the hell are you, and what did you do to Alexis?" snapped a young girl with emerald green eyes, golden-blonde hair, and she wore a jet-black tunic like his own. "Answer me or I'll punch your lights out!"

"Zoey, get off him," growled the other, her deep blue eyes and creamy brown hair contrasting with her snow-white tunic. "He's not the one responsible, I can see it in his eyes… He's mourning her death."

"Way to point out the obvious, Kaylein," Zoey barked, glaring instead at her.

While they bickered amongst themselves, Dark Pit couldn't help but notice how much they resembled Alexis and Diana, apart from the fact that they didn't have wings and they were much younger. He then began to look around the infirmary and noticed that one of the windows was completely destroyed and shattered glass lay scattered across the floor.

"Yup, definitely just like them," Dark Pit muttered under his breath, standing up and brushing himself off at the sound of rapid footsteps approaching.

Diana was the first to screech to a halt in the doorway, eyeing the two young girls with delight and running to hug them as though they were siblings. Pit soon followed and came to stand beside his twin, cautiously watching Diana, and lastly, Lady Palutena appeared on the scene.

Zoey was the first to notice the Goddess of Light and elbowed Kaylein in the ribs. They both walked up to her and bowed, greeting her politely as if they had rehearsed it a million times over. The first to stand up was Zoey, and her green eyes fixed Lady Palutena with a soft glow as she uttered the one sentence Dark Pit thought he'd never be so happy to hear in his life.

"Kaylein and I can help," Zoey stated, pointing to the bed where laid the cold body of Skyworld's newest legend. "We can help bring Alexis back."

Author's Note: Hello once again, my fellow readers. I'm terribly sorry that it has taken me such a long time to finally update my story, but with grade 10 being a massive blow to the gut and the brain, I just didn't have the time. Next school year's going to be no better, to be honest with you, but I'm going to try to do my best to update as much as possible. In terms of the update itself, you'll all note that I started the changes in Chapter 3, and continued on from there. I've reached Chapter 7 in my editing, and the story has taken a much more different route, but still along the same basic lines. I'm hoping I can keep going from where I am, and I do apologize for this chapter being so short, but I just couldn't think of anything else to put into it. Besides, I need to start varying the length of my chapters a bit anyway, so I figured I might as well start now.

I hope you all enjoy the "new" experience of The Wandering Angels that is about to unfold before your very eyes.
