Most people the knight was acquainted with would shy away from wild animals. Regardless of how cute they were, or how cool they seemed to be, at their core they were creatures bred from nature alone. They did not know of human customs and did not have to act 'nice' or 'polite' in order to make humans feel comfortable. While some ignored that key piece of knowledge, and paid a hefty price from their ignorance, a good sane portion of human society would only gaze at the wild in restrained horror. Link, however, only stared fondly at the pack of canines rubbing against him.
He told Siegfried that he used to be wary of wolves. He had been hunted by creatures that looked wolf like in appearance when he was young, and their howls used to be enough to send dark shivers crawling up his spine. Those chills would last for days on end and the nightmares they induced would leave their mark for weeks.
They used to be just as cautious about him as well. He was human, or Hylian if you wanted to get technical, and humans hunted their kind for all sorts of 'necessities'. Food, fur, meat, it did not matter. The fight between wolves and humans was a constant struggle to determine who was predator and who was prey.
Nowadays wolves would come far and wide just to see Link, packs with members of all ages, just to be smiled at by the hero. Link welcomed them with open arms, gentle hands, and even a few scraps of food he knew they would enjoy. He understood them better now, he said, after his wolf transformations in the twilight. The fight between them was no longer about domination. No. Instead the key to the two beings mutual existence was respect and understanding. From there would stem affection and adoration.
Siegfried was amazed. It just figured that Link of all people could discover such a simple secret.
One of the alpha males, that Link nicknamed Pavement, licked his face affectionately. The Hylian chuckled while saying that the wolves understood him now as well.
Pavement's mate made her way to the knight's side, rubbing against his legs in acceptance. She seemed to know that they were kindred spirits of sorts, even though he had never really shown Link any kind of affection around the wolves. She just seemed to know.
Siegfried found himself even more entranced with the animals his lover was surrounded by.

Link had never thought much about death. He truly had never had any reason to. When he died he would be reborn again. He knew by now not to question that cycle, and he had long since stopped wondering about the way it worked. Perhaps it was because of his own lack of curiosity that he never thought to ask anyone else about what they thought about the rather morbid subject.
However, one day, the topic came up in a late night conversation between the Mansion inhabitants. One aspect in particular was explored. Who would you want to end your life so that you would leave the earth with no regrets?
Many of the Smashers had to think before answering. The answers varied greatly, from family, to gods, from children to pets. Talim made mention of dying in the wind, and Captain Falcon said he wanted to die with no one but his car. Yunseong, the oddest of them all, said he wanted to die in a blaze of glory, smiling all the way.
Siegfried had been the last to answer, and by then everyone was sensitive to any answer that was spoken.
"So Siegfried, whose hand would you have to die by in order to have no regrets?"
The knight merely smiled lightly, said, "Link's." and let the conversation continue on.
The Hylian's heart skipped a beat, and inside the depths of his mind he realized something. If Siegfried was, for whatever reason, forced to end his lovers life on his own, Link would merely smile and let him do so.
No questions, no accusations, no struggles, and no regrets.
Fang: Oddly morbid, but alright I suppose.
MistressOfTime: Can we at least agree on the fact that they were slightly heartwarming, even a little bit?
Fang: Sure. We can do that if it reassures you.
MistressOfTime: You are so kind. Please R&R.
