Link anticipated spring every single year.
He loved the way everything simply burst to life with nothing more than a gentle spring shower and the ever generous light from the sun to aid its growth. It was every bit a metaphor for the life of human beings, who needed little more than a mothers protection and a fathers initial part of him to thrive.
It was the miracle of life carried out in front of ever curious eyes. It was magic without the need of spells or other worldly ingredients. It was breathtaking and awe-inspiring without anything manmade to make it something beyond imagination. It simply was what it had always been since the beginning of time: that moment in time where everything is born again.
The Hylian also liked spring because it gave him a chance to show off in front of Siegfried. Link knew much about nature. Siegfried knew next to nothing. As a result, the knight was always willing to learn about a subject the elf spoke so enthusiastically on. He was attentive and so in tune to what the younger was saying. Such attention brought a warm fuzzy feeling to the pit of Link's stomach, and no matter what would happen after he initially got it, that feeling would always remain.
Spring was the season that Link had fallen in love with Siegfried, and every time that wonderful season returned, Link fell in love with him all over again.

Siegfried looked forward to winter with a passion akin to the first time a bird attempted to fly.
He was likely one of only a small handful of people who preferred the cold, dark season to the lighter, warmer, times of year. He would simply smile if anyone chose to comment. To him an outsider might never understand his reasoning.
Winter was not about harsh climates and unbearable circumstances. It was so much more than that. Winter was about giving second chances.
The weather would go down, cooling any rage stemming from hate of the past seasons. The days would darken quickly, offering more time to think and ponder and prepare for the times when days would lengthen again. Snow would fall, an innocent blanket that would cover up all past sin and freeze away the burns of scorched hearts. When the temperature warmed, when the nights returned to a mere few hours, when the snow melted, everything would be reborn. It was nearly magical.
Siegfried also got the added bonus of warming up next to Link by a fire, drinking warm cups of hot chocolate together under the same blanket. He would also get to celebrate the holidays associated with winter together with Link, as a permanent partner, instead of as a lonely bachelor.
Winter was when Siegfried had fallen in love with the Hylian, and every winter he liked to feed the embers of that love to last them another year.
Fang: Spring and winter as opposites? Usually people use summer and winter as a comparison.
MistressOfTime: That would have worked if this was about opposite extremes in weather as a beginning basis for the writings, but this has more to do with Siegfried and Link's personalities than the season's themselves.
Fang: Quick question. How did the two of them fall in love with each other? You said they fell for each other in different seasons. Care to share the circumstances?
MistressOfTime: *wink* Anyway, please R&R guys. Would love to hear from you all.
