MistressOfTime1218: I wasn't going to post anything today, but my mom saw this on my desk and she thought it was good. She wanted me to put it up so she could hear what other people had to say about it. I thought, "Hey, it's mothers Day, have to give mom what she wants." So here you go.

"Leave him." Kale had said to him soon after Siegfried's relationship with Link had been made public. "Forget him and redeem yourself."
Siegfried had outright laughed at his cousin. "Trust me, I have a lot I need to redeem myself for. Link isn't one of them." This conversation had not been one the knight had ever planned on having. Some foolish part of his mind told him that he would be able to hide his relationship with Link, that he would be able to protect the Hylian, forever. He knew he had been so terribly wrong, but he would rather die than run away from the current confrontation. "I honestly don't know what you thought you were going to do here."
"I thought I'd try and fix you."
Siegfried rolled his eyes. "I'm not broken Kale. Just in love."
Kale narrowed his eyes. "You know what the family will say. You'll be forsaken. You will be considered lost and no one will ever reach out to you again."
"My mother is the only person in the family whose opinion I care about. She happens to think very highly of him." She herself had told him not to run. Do not forsake him, she told him, as he has been yours from the time he saved you. Siegfried had no intention of letting Link go. Not for Kale, not for the rest of his family, not for anyone.
"And the rest of us?"
Siegfried shrugged. "I never liked you all that much to begin with."
"What about your late father?" A low blow. The knight had been ready for it though. It was such a Kale thing to do, after all, pulling dirty tricks like that. Using loved ones long gone to guilt you into seeing things his way.
Why he thought such a thing would work on Siegfried was a mystery. "I think he would be happy that his son was no longer shrouded in darkness."
His cousin growled.
It should have made Siegfried slightly concerned, but all it did was make him smile. "Was that all?"
"You would do well to listen to my advice."
Siegfried turned around and headed towards the door. Before he left, however, he turned to give his cousin a well deserved, condescending smirk. "I would, but I don't think it wise to heed advice from a dishonored soldier who doesn't even have a piece of string to call his own."

Siegfried sometimes barely had the strength to look at Rothion anymore. It was not due to anything the man had done. It was due to what he was. Rothion was a father, and he was a pretty good one at that. He was fair, he was firm, and he was there for his children when they needed him.
He was a constant reminder that the Alexander children had what the German did not. Siegfried's father was dead. He could no longer scold, encourage, or ease his son's pain. All that Frederick ever was, all he could have been, was lying in the dirt with his corpse. All Siegfried had left of him, were his memories.
Siegfried truly envied the two young children. He longed to see his father again. To hear that voice, firm but reassuring. To feel that familiar pat on the head that signaled encouragement. God, he just wanted to see that look of pride in his father's eyes when he did something right, or a look of acceptance when he did something wrong.
He often wondered what it would be like to have Frederick back in his life. What would he think of his son now? Would he be proud? Would he feel as though he had done right as a father? Would he have no regrets left inside of him? Most importantly, what would he think of the person who had stolen his child's heart?
"I think you two would get along. He's smart, polite, really sweet, and mom likes him a lot. You would probably want to adopt him the second you saw him. He has that kind of affect on people." The knight said to himself as he watched father and son play a game of catch. "Though I know you'd want to have a long talk with me about how serious I really am about him." He smiled, his hand reaching to fiddle with something in his pocket. "But you had better be ready to see just how sure I am about my feelings."
Fang: You're really eager to get Kale in there aren't you?
MistressOfTime: That and somehow have Siegfried and Frederick talk about Link. However, I do not think that's going to happen anytime soon. Or at all…which kind of saddens me.
Fang: Ask someone to write it for you for your birthday. That way you'll be pleasantly surprised and it doesn't necessarily have to be constituted as canon to the story.
MistressOfTime: (Puppy dog eyes)
Fang: Why's it gotta be me? Can't Storm do it?
MistressOfTime: I'm disowning you now. Everybody else, but him, please R&R.
Fang: Oh por el amor de Dios! Really?
